Oct 3 22:31:10 Tenjutsu ♥ 2 Great game, fantastic! The itch.io version seems superior to the embedded version (has a splash screen, can go fullscreen, not sure if there are any other differences), perhaps you should point people there instead, until the LD embedding is a bit more mature =). I managed to beat all but the second-to-last level, somehow that one got skipped when I died in the lower right corner right next to the door and was mashing Space or R or something, ended up in the next room ^_^. Boy were some of those last levels hard, though!
Oct 3 22:38:37 7m 27s Lights Out ♥ 1 I would have liked it if the sound changed a bit when I ran into a wall, so when I was in the dark, and stuck, and didn't realize it, I'd have a little feedback. I got stuck trying to go through some walkways (in the dark or the light) a little too often. Seeing the grue for the first time was great and scary! Nice sound and mood.
Oct 3 22:54:34 15m 57s J-Menuing ♥ 2 I get an error when trying to use the Web version: ``` RuntimeError: null function or function signature mismatch at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[7756]:0x204155 at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[2740]:0xadf58 at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[23097]:0x6bbde0 at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[7725]:0x20236c at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[7756]:0x204007 at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[2740]:0xadf58 at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[11816]:0x35fb1b at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[23095]:0x6bbd15 at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[1341]:0x57d0a at wasm://wasm/0349a45e:wasm-function[976]:0x3cae9 ``` Using Chrome 103. Seems to work in Firefox though ^_^. Game controller mostly worked, except was B to confirm and A to cancel, unlike stated in the description. I'm glad the "help" was tagged as "spoilers", I had fun figuring out how to play, and it was easy to do so. My score on my first run: 145, stage 12, 159.6s Second run I did better: 405, stage 15, 150s It's a little frustrating how one little mistake seems to sometimes quickly snowball into a complete party wipe, but it did keep the suspense up nicely =)
Oct 3 23:46:47 52m 13s Last Defense ♥ 1 Pretty great! I managed to beat all but the last level, gave up on that one ^_^. One time I encountered a bug where I both won and lost a level (timer counted down to 0 about 2 seconds before the shield charge fired), and it advanced me to the next one (felt fair ;). Great art, sound, level design, all comes together nicely. Controls were difficult, but rewarding. One question... are we in space or on Earth? Why is there no gravity on my ship?! Must be some high-tech device... ;)
Oct 4 02:29:24 2h 42m Lil' Digger 3: It's a Trilogy! ♥ 0 That's pretty cool, nice job on getting an NES game done =). I had tons of trouble on the Ocean, the map generator _kept_ generating a new map where my only path was away from the exit, I'd go 5 seconds down it, not make any progress, come back to where I was, and let it re-generate, and I'd always be just a couple steps from the exit... Does it make the map starting from where the character is and intentionally make it a long way to the exit, or did I just keep getting unlucky? ^_^ I wish the movement was a little smoother, I kept getting stuck on corners. Music was nice, I didn't realize you could get that kind of sound out of an NES!
Oct 4 02:52:52 23m 28s Taking over the world ♥ 2 My thoughts as I extract the RAR... "Aww, a Java game, I'm going to have to fight to get it to work with a portable JRE again..." "No, wait, it includes a portable JRE, finally, someone gets it right!" Cool game! I like the complexity =). I had difficulty ever getting my soldiers to go where I wanted them to though, if I built my camp too close, the enemy just destroyed it, if I built it farther away, they seemed to just wander in the wrong direction... eventually I died from wandering through the enemy camp a bit too much, before destroying a single fortress -_-. I couldn't tell if the number over my head did anything, it seemed like I could (sometimes) pick up resources even when it was at a large number, though it was pretty inconsistent picking up resources (maybe could have used some preview showing what was selected to be picked up, or something, maybe I was just facing the wrong direction ^_^). I liked seeing my dozens of guys running around and getting stuff for me, gave a nice sense of building up my kingdom =).
Oct 4 03:48:32 55m 40s Galactic traders ♥ 1 Pretty cool game! I definitely like this kind of thing... first game I survived 7 minutes. Second game I finally won after 32 minutes. It wasn't particularly difficult once I figured out how it all worked, just need to sit and wait and buy slaves on the black market to man my fighters, while occassionally jumping in with my mother ship and jumping back to repair. I ran into 2 bugs - once (during the tutorial), I clicked the "opportunity" card, and it froze the game (so, I never clicked it again). Also, I chose the bonus that made my ships go half speed, and then when I tried to move a repair ship, it launched, but never landed, presumably it's now moving at a speed of 0? I just treated them as stationary repair stations after that one never returned... I'd have liked a little more to do invest in colonies and such... it seemed like I could never get more than +1 population per cycle, which means 50 seconds between new fighter fleets, which means, well, a good 30 minutes until I've got enough to beat the enemy. Was there something else I missed there? Good job, a lot of complexity here for a jam game!
Oct 4 16:41:39 12h 53m Snowy-Drive ♥ 1 Neat game, simple concept, I like turning "I forgot to clear the back buffer" into a game mechanic ^_^. I got to 256 before I decided I was never going to find my way home (got bored). It would have been nice if the difficulty ramped up. I like the feeling of relief when the wiper finally wipes =).
Oct 4 17:04:50 23m 11s Unlucky Town ♥ 1 My high score: 7:30. Eventually, an earthquake always comes along at a bad time =). I enjoyed this. Took a little while to grasp all of the mechanics, but by my second game I was having fun =). Music was good, didn't get annoying, and audio cues were nice. The "add energy" card always seemed good, until I saved 2 of them and realized they were useless if you only have 2 other cards ^_^. Would have been nice if extra energy could be saved, or if they were "+1 energy and draw a card" or something. Still, were nice when then _did_ come up, as long as it wasn't 2 on the same turn ^_^. I liked how, once fully upgraded, a building will eventually crumble, creates a nice pacing.
Oct 5 02:58:00 9h 53m Planet survival ♥ 1 Fun game! I managed to become the only planet in the universe. So sad? Music was good. Controls felt a little weird, I think I'm used to space ships where pressing left turns left, instead of goes to the left side of the screen, but I got used to it. I really liked when I thought I was about done it zoomed out and I saw there was a much bigger galaxy out there =).
Oct 5 03:03:45 5m 45s Duo Dungeon ♥ 1 Embedded HTML version doesn't work on Chrome, due to LD's site settings, I guess, not your fault, but seems to work on Firefox. You could throw it up on an itch.io page and it should run perfectly fine for everyone =). This is a great start to a game. Everything feels smooth and polished, music is good, fun little puzzles, just need more content =). Nice job completing what's there in the jam, though, I quite enjoyed it!
Oct 5 03:09:33 5m 48s Negative-G ♥ 1 Nice little game, wish it were less little =). Music and controls felt good. I would have liked it to be a little more difficult, I made it to the end with only one death, and it was because I was curious about my mortality vis a vis pits.
Oct 5 03:19:45 10m 12s The Little Bot That Could ♥ 1 Nice little game, I managed to win! I even found _two_ secret passageways... one had a cog in it, the other was clearly a bug, which I was unable to reproduce, where I went through a wall in a corner and was able to run around outside the playing field until I ran out of energy ^_^. When I first got a cog but failed to make it back to safety, I wasn't expecting to be able to keep it, it felt a bit like cheating, though later cogs were clearly only accessible if you died getting them, so it felt okay in the end. I like the robot, he's cute!
Oct 5 03:25:51 6m 06s Compulsive Jousting ♥ 1 I really like being able to observe and think a bit before the timer starts counting down =). Really nice game, an impressive amount of levels, really cool level select screen with animations and tracking which stars you got, fantastic details =). Graphics and audio also very nice.
Oct 5 03:38:30 12m 39s Needy Pixel Kitties ♥ 1 My high score: 22310 (level 13) OMG I love the voiced tutorial, perfect match with the theme of the game! The cat noises were good, except when I used a power and it triggered a dozen at once, then it got a bit much ^_^. At the beginning, I would have really liked a way to speed things along, I spent a while just staring at an empty board. Once the game got moving, it was pretty great, though!
Oct 5 16:59:18 13h 20m It's a Sliding Puzzle ♥ 1 Wow, that is the most annoying sliding block puzzle ever! I just can't deal with the switching pieces =). Cool that you made a GB game, though! I would have liked to know what the image looks like... oh, I see it's on the description here, that probably would have made it _much_ less frustrating - I was almost kind of figuring out what pieces connected to which others (still having no idea what the total image was of) when they would swap and I'd lose my place =).
Oct 5 23:20:22 6h 21m 10s To Decide ♥ 1 On my first game I followed Bluort's advice, studied hard, worked hard, earned 214 science, and 48 gold, surviving 36 actions. On my second game, I decided his friends were not as friendly as he implied... that time I survived 79 actions, until those 500 hp guys kicked my but. Congrats on your first game jam, this is quite a great game! Could use some balance, but I had fun, and I'm glad the difficulty ramped up so that it had a clear ending point for me =). I liked the feeling of upgrading my towers. I would have liked to be able to skip to the next tick without having to reset the fast forward button (which I usually don't quite get back to after a buy and place tower action before yet _another_ tick flies by ^_^).
Oct 6 00:54:28 1h 34m Out Of Memory ♥ 1 It wasn't until after a _lot_ of experimenting on level 6 that I _finally_ figured out the difference between the "Next Level" button and "Keep Going" button (which I assumed were the same until then, or that one skipped the level, but I didn't want to skip it, so I kept pressing "restart") - I really had no idea you could do multiple 10 second sets of orders, and it seems pretty key. Maybe add something to the description about that? I realized later that the tutorial alluded to it, but perhaps harmfully so, as it seemed to imply "I'll explain that to you later", so I guess it just was completely out of my mind since the tutorial never re-introduced the concept =). And then, holy cow as level 8 hard. I probably spent 20-30 minutes on it, was almost convinced it was impossible for a while, I kept coming up with solutions that needed 1 more move or 1 more u-turn. Finally beat it though! Thank goodness the final level was not as hard (only took one try there). Capture.PNG Great game! Love the concept, nice ramp up of difficulty of puzzles. I wish giving orders was a little more convenient - either keyboard shortcuts, or just select robot, then click order after order and they go into the next slot. Nice sound and music too.
Oct 6 23:20:16 22h 25m IRON DAWN ♥ 0 Looks like fun, but the interface appears to be getting cut off when running fullscreen (at 16:10, 2560x1600), and pressing alt-enter goes to windowed mode, but at the same resolution. If it doesn't handle non-16:9 resolutions, a quick fix to start windowed at 1920x1080 would be appreciated and probably work on more devices by default =).
Oct 6 23:37:05 16m 49s De-Pres-ING ♥ 1 Neat little game! I got a score of 6825. I liked the difficulty ramp up, that felt paced pretty well. Nice, clean aesthetics, audio was good. Fakemusicgenerator, I think, _does_ generate random tracks, however, like all pseudo-random generation, it starts with a seed, so there's some chance someone else has generated the same random track before (or, generated all possible tracks and uploaded them all to YouTube... ^_^). I'm sorry you were accused of cheating, it seems like you were within the rules and should be allowed to be rated on audio - can't hurt to call out that the music was generated by that site though in the description here, then anyone who hears it and thinks it sounds familiar can be reassured. I also thought it sounded familiar, but all music from that site often sounds pretty familiar, even if not identical ;).
Oct 6 23:52:00 14m 55s The Fabulous */10 Song ♥ 1 Nice game, I liked the introduction, though it seemed like there was one segment of text (last one before interactivity) I didn't get to see (I could hear the "typing" sound in the background, but couldn't read what they were saying. I think I figured out all of the mechanics though and made it to the end. I really like that, unlike many "every 10 second" games, I've got something to work on while the last 10 seconds is playing out in the background =). I was afraid this was going to be realtime and was delightfully surprised to find it a calm puzzler. I would have liked it if the band were a little bit better sounding... ^_^
Oct 7 22:16:57 22h 24m Life is Fleeting ♥ 1 Fun vibes! I managed to accomplish my life's goal. You definitely succeeded in taking something relaxing and making it more frantic =). Would have liked a little more feedback on actions. Quite liked the visual style.
Oct 7 22:34:03 17m 06s Supply Chain ♥ 1 Neat idea! Getting some Mini-Metro vibes =). Really like the aesthetic. Game is way too unforgiving though, I kept on doing things like dividing but then linking up the wrong output to my next node and seem unable to remove the (now harmful) connection, at least not before the super impatient consumers throw a fit ^\_^. I would have liked something a little more chill, if not satisfied in 10 seconds, the consumer goes away or score decreases or something instead, would probably have kept playing for quite a long time if I didn't keep getting a game over ^\_^. Still, was fun!
Oct 7 22:42:39 8m 36s Slimerush ♥ 1 Nice looking slimes! I tried playing the WebGL version over on itch.io, but ran into some trouble - it seems it hides the mouse cursor, but doesn't lock it to the screen, so I kept clicking off of the game (when in fullscreen, either clicking on a second monitor, or clicking the browsers "exit fullscreen" X button), which made it really hard to play. Cool idea though, and lots of different and interesting powerups =).
Oct 10 03:18:05 52h 35m Tenfold Rim Mining ♥ 1 Cool game! Glad to see someone else also doing asteroid mining ;). I seemed to get an undefeatable base set up, and let it run until about 10 minutes on hard mode, and it wasn't hard, but I had fun getting there. I'd like it if there was a little more feedback on what is going on early-on, it took me a while to figure out (even after reading the tutorial text) how cracking asteroids and sending drones to mine them worked - if it showed a highlight or any kind of feedback upon click so I know that "this asteroid is now targeted to get shot at" (is that a thing, or was that part automatic?) and "this asteroid has a drone assigned to pick up the resources", that would have helped understand the basics much quicker. Nicely done overall, and I like the complexity!
Oct 10 03:24:24 6m 19s Space 10 ♥ 1 Neat little game. My highscore... 1 I mostly let the dangerous events do the work for me, and also really can't aim well at all =). The recoil on the firing made it rather challenging to control the ship. I like the simple aesthetics and immediately understandable gameplay.
Oct 10 03:32:32 8m 08s Gamma Protocol ♥ 1 I managed to survive 15 waves. Really liked this, I almost always love PICO-8 games though =). Auto-aim worked great, graphics and sound also great. Only thing I'd like improved was I often didn't see what was off of the screen in the direction I wav moving and ran into some enemies or got stuck somewhere and died quite quickly ^_^.
Oct 10 03:43:41 11m 09s Nuke Yourself to Alpha Centauri! ♥ 0 Pretty cool! I liked having a bunch of stuff to balance. My interface often got a bit hung up (kept getting the navigation sliders stuck thinking I was still dragging the mouse after I let go, sometimes had text getting selected when I did something resembling a double-click), but it wasn't game-breaking. Game over screen often disappeared before I realized the game was over, let alone had a chance to read why it ended. The tile plating bit of the game was weirdly satisfying =).
Oct 11 02:46:50 23h 03m Witch in a hurry ♥ 0 Definitely took me quite a while to figure out what was going on. Didn't have enough time to read the intro text on each of the levels (but, I failed them quickly enough to finally get a chance to read it, though it didn't really help explain anything ^\_^). Eventually I figured out how things worked. It was really unclear what I was carrying and what I needed to do, or even how I lost, as usually I would just instantly lose as I was holding down WASD, and it took me quite a few losses to even have a chance to realize the controls changed mid-game - I actually just thought the game was buggy, the first time I lived for more than 10 seconds and then the controls seemed to stop working ^\_^. I would have liked some more feedback about what was going on and why. Once I got used to it, was kinda fun. I quite like the style, visuals and audio both nice. I did managed to beat all 3 levels, after many losses =).
Oct 11 03:21:34 34m 44s TchouTchou: the game ♥ 1 Pretty cool! I sometimes had difficulty telling what was going on at the cities - they'd be at "-3 food", I'd deliver 4 food, and it'd still say -3 food, not sure if that was a bug, or just something I didn't understand. I never got my score above 5... but had fun doing it ^_^.
Oct 14 13:43:05 82h 21m Plue ♥ 1 Neat game! I played it with a friend and had a lot of fun. Being able to choose our own upgrades really made it engaging.
