| Apr 5 02:57:32 | Untitled Zombie Shooter by Ismael Rodriguez | ♥ 1 | I really like the punch mechanic; it gives a nice risk/reward and helps vary up the gameplay. The sound design and animation for reloading are really satisfying. I also like the 2.5D look of the enemies and the way they fly apart when killed. I will say that the game defaulting to inverted vertical mouse aim with no way to change it felt disorienting. I wound up having to disable vertical mouse aim altogether. The game also definitely feels empty and could use a few more mechanics to keep it interesting. Overall, a relatively small game, but one with a very solid presentation and an interesting core mechanic. Nice work! | |
| Apr 5 03:19:12 | 21m 40s | Slime Survivor | ♥ 1 | Pretty solid game! There's a lot packed in here for a compo entry. It can get pretty crazy when you have so many abilities all going off at once. I will say that the optimal strategy did seem to be to just run away. Overall, there's not much for the player to engage with since most of the abilities are automatic. But, overall, a solid entry with a lot of content. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 03:25:30 | 6m 18s | Warming up! | ♥ 1 | Very neat little concept! I love the way the segments of the iceberg go up and down; it's very visually satisfying. Not having a jump and instead forcing the player to decide whether to destroy parts of their own iceberg to traverse the level is a really cool design choice. The visuals are also great! The game does get a bit repetitive after a while and could probably use some additional mechanic to vary things up. But, overall, a fun little game. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 03:53:31 | 28m 01s | Handbot in... Scrap Heap | ♥ 7 | I really like the game's stylized visuals. It feels cartoony yet also melancholic. The game overall has a very eerie vibe. The audio/visual effects when throwing an object were also very satisfying. Character design was cute; I like the main character's little hand. I also like the idea of centering the game around throwing objects. It makes me have to be a little more careful than if I could just press a button to attack. I will say that the game has a lot of backtracking. There was a shortcut, but it seems that you can's use it while carrying an object (unless I'm missing something). It also seems like the collision for the area locked behind the 3 pressure plate doors was coded incorrectly, making it impossible to get the final box of scrap. I also question the decision to make the screen fully black when the sun meter goes down, as it seems to waste a great deal of time. Overall, a bit rough around the edges in some places, but has a lot of charm and good ideas. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 04:00:27 | 6m 56s | Dino Savior | ♥ 1 | A fun little game! I like the silly concept of a dinosaur headbutting asteroids. I also like how hectic it gets towards the end with so many asteroids raining down; it really does feel hopeless. I like the idea of deflecting asteroids into each other to regain health, although it didn't seem to come up much. Overall, a small but solid game. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 04:42:21 | 41m 54s | Death and Taxes: A Puzzle Game | ♥ 1 | A cool little puzzle game. Even though each action was a binary choice, that still lead to a lot of possible answers. I like how you have to think several moves ahead to plan out your solution. There's also an impressive amount of mechanics in here for a jam game. I will say that it was occasionally possibly to just guess and check to sort of brute force the solution, which got me through many puzzles. Overall, a solid puzzle game. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 05:46:22 | 1h 04m | Vanguard Rush | ♥ 1 | Really impressive visuals for a jam game. I love the chibi mecha aesthetic. The visual effects are also incredibly satisfying, especially the ultimate attack. I will say that the lock-on system made if feel like the game was playing itself sometimes. But, overall, a solid entry with impressive visuals. Nice work! |
| Apr 5 19:18:15 | 13h 31m | Rising Tide | ♥ 2 | Really cool puzzle game! I'm a big fan of Mine Sweeper, so it was cool to see this clever twist on it. It's interesting how you have imperfect information, but more flags than you need, so you sorta have to narrow it down as much as you can and then try to flag the ones that seem most likely. I will say that guessing can become a bit of a crapshoot by the end, especially if you get an unlucky board pattern. I wonder if the game could use some extra rule or piece of information to help narrow it down, something like jellyfish never spawning next to each other, or maybe a different color of seaweed to indicate multiple adjacent jellyfish (but not the exact number). In terms of the presentation, the game looks and sounds phenomenal. It has a very calming atmosphere. I also love how the music gets more intense as the water level rises! Overall, an enjoyably tricky little puzzle game. Great work! |
| Apr 6 00:15:26 | 4h 57m | Final Forest | ♥ 2 | Pretty neat little strategy game. I like how you have the option to use your workers as combat units, forcing you to choose between defense and resource gathering in the early game. I will say that the interface was a bit finicky; the units were pretty small so it could be hard to click on them. The game also crashed when I got to wave 3. I tried playing again, but it crashed on wave 2 that time. Regardless, I had fun with what I got to play. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 00:33:07 | 17m 41s | The Coup | ♥ 1 | Pretty neat idea! I like how the inevitable coup isn't just a game over, but rather a shift to a second phase of the game. I also like the idea of spying on generals and trying to discern what side they were on. I will admit that I wasn't fully sure what was going on or what I should be doing at times during the first phase. But I think this setup has some real potential! |
| Apr 6 00:41:14 | 8m 07s | Infection | ♥ 0 | Pretty fun game. The shooting was satisfying and I like the crunchy pixel art with nice thick black outlines. The sound and music were also fun and energetic. I also like how the healthbar doubles as a time limit; that's some efficient game design! I do think that the game could have used waves of increasing size to ramp things up as you go. The zombies never really posed much of a challenge, so I just sorta had to decide when to quit. The game could also use a scoring system so players have some idea of how they did. I did notice a x1 multiplier in the HUD which didn't do anything, so maybe this was a scrapped concept. But, overall, a solid little game. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 02:03:48 | 1h 22m | Aliens...S | ♥ 1 | Pretty fun space shooter! It is a little slow at the start, but it really gets going once you level up a few times and more enemies are introduced. I also like the little cutscenes before and after the game; they were a nice touch. The visuals are pretty good, although the audio was lacking. Definitely could have used some music. Overall, a solidly fun game. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 02:15:25 | 11m 37s | Job at METeA | ♥ 1 | Cute little game. I like how the social commentary was worked into the gameplay with the character slowly becoming a robot as you gain more upgrades. I will say that the game got pretty repetitive very quickly. Definitely could have used some more mechanics to keep it fresh. But overall a solid idea. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 02:31:38 | 16m 13s | Red Cube With Gun | ♥ 1 | I liked the short little game description, lol. Not much going on gameplaywise, but the game was pretty funny. The visual of the army of red cube men cresting the hill as they come for my destruction was hilarious. Overall, game good, had fun. |
| Apr 6 02:37:42 | 6m 04s | Thanos Teaches Typing | ♥ 1 | Pretty simple game. Not much to it, but I found the premise funny. I also like how actually knowing the heroes gives you a bit of an advantage since you don't have to waste time reading the name. |
| Apr 6 02:44:48 | 7m 06s | Wizardfall | ♥ 1 | Pretty simple gameplay, but I love the hand drawn visuals. The animation for some of the later attacks were a real treat. I also enjoyed the dialog. The romance ending was hilarious! I will say that it was disappointing that there was no dialog if you simply attack him. But, overall, a great little game. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 07:24:50 | 4h 40m | A Nerd's Delay | ♥ 3 | Really clever play on the theme! The gameplay is pretty simple, but I enjoy how the obstacles don't directly deal damage but rather push you off the screen. I also noticed that the difficulty sort of came in waves, with more rewards coming between harder sections, which was a nice touch. Also, the music in this game has no right being as good as it is, lol. Overall, really hilarious game! Nice work. |
| Apr 6 08:24:08 | 59m 18s | TO THE DEATH (Definitely not a psyche experiment) | ♥ 3 | Wow. Just wow. What a drop dead amazing game! After the first 20 minutes of waiting, I wasn't sure if anything was going to happen, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. Because, when it gets good, it gets GOOD! Genuinely the best game I've played this Ludum Dare, and perhaps any Ludum Dare! Anyone who quit before the hour mark thinking this was just some joke game really missed out. Bravo, 5/5! |
| Apr 6 08:33:11 | 9m 03s | Untitled Oxygen Game | ♥ 0 | Pretty cute little game. I liked how the whole ship was tilting a bit; helped sell the effect that everything was going haywire. The zero gravity controls were fun, although it was occasionally difficult to get the character to interact with what I wanted him to. But the sound design was great! I love how the audio kicks in when the ship gets hit, and the announcer voice was a nice touch. Overall solid game. Nice work! |
| Apr 6 09:11:06 | 37m 55s | Bitboy | ♥ 1 | @3bt @fromage @lisichka @silkmeloni @blue-pin-studio @str8griz @devvex Judging by your comments, you may have missed something important. Try playing a bit longer and see what happens. |
| Apr 6 09:24:27 | 13m 21s | Loyal Prisoner | ♥ 1 | Premise made me laugh out loud! I wish the game had some more mechanics though, it really is just train and fight. |
| Apr 6 09:36:56 | 12m 29s | Meteor Power | ♥ 1 | Neat concept! I like how you can control a bunch of robots at once. Figuring out how to wire up the stations to the solar panels was a bit tricky, but I got it eventually. It helped when I realized I could just zoom out so both were on screen at once. |
| Apr 7 01:28:57 | 15h 52m | Die higher. | ♥ 1 | Simple but fun game. I like how you can speed things up with the fast fall mechanic. Does feel like it needs something more to stop it from getting repetitive, perhaps the game could speed up as you get higher or something. But an overall solid submission. Nice work! |
| Apr 7 01:37:59 | 9m 02s | Maylo's journey | ♥ 1 | Simple but fun game. I like how you introduce more mechanics over time. I did notice that you despawn blocks bellow you, which could be a problem with how high the triple jump goes. Otherwise, a solid entry. Nice work. |
| Apr 7 04:17:07 | 2h 39m | If you try hard enough, you can win. | ♥ 1 | Simple but fun game. I like how it ramps up over time, both in terms of enemy spawns and player abilities. A lot of games this jam have made this mistake of just staying stagnant and get repetitive quick, but this one keeps you on your toes. It does feel like it could use an extra mechanic of two to really make it shine, but it's a solid game overall. Nice work! |
| Apr 7 04:28:59 | 11m 52s | Magma Climb | ♥ 2 | Simple but solid game. I like how you added some risk vs reward mechanics with the powerups scattered throughout the level. The arrows also helped to add some variance. I will say that it got a bit repetitive after a while, so it might have been nice to find a way to change things up as the game progresses. But, overall, a solid entry. Nice work! |
| Apr 7 04:40:48 | 11m 49s | Invaasion | ♥ 1 | Pretty fun tower defense game. I like how the enemies could destroy the towers, so placement had to be considered carefully. It reminded me a lot of Plants vs Zombies in that way. It does start off a bit slow, but it gets pretty fun as things pickup. Also, the song is a banger. Overall, solid game. Nice work! |
| Apr 7 05:07:21 | 26m 33s | Gods of Discord | ♥ 2 | Cute little concept. I like the Tinder-like interface paired with Lovecraftian horror. I will say that I wasn't sure as I was playing whether the meters going up was a good or bad thing, but I figured it out in the end. Overall, a charming little experience. Nice work! |
| Apr 10 08:08:49 | 75h 01m | Tamaghost Jump! | ♥ 2 | Really clever use of the theme! I love the creepy aesthetic that builds over time. The gameplay starts out a bit dull, but things pick up when you get a few levels in. I will say that I didn't realize you have a double jump until level 3 or 4, so the first few levels were probably a lot slower for me then they're supposed to be. Regardless, I had fun with this submission. Nice work! |
| Apr 10 18:32:33 | 10h 23m | Legacy Survivors | ♥ 0 | Pretty fun game! I like how chaotic it can get with so many units around, especially when you get multiple weapons. I appreciate how all of the weapons are unique and serve their own distinct purpose. I will say that the game got repetitive pretty quickly. I wonder if something could be added to spice up the gameplay loop as you progress. But, overall, a simple and solid game. Nice work! |
| Apr 10 19:55:07 | 1h 22m | Akubi | ♥ 2 | Really great presentation! I love the detailed pixel art and the parallax scrolling background. The lowkey music also added to the ambiance. The gameplay was simple, but enjoyable for what it was. I will say that I question the decision to bind attack to the mouse when the game otherwise doesn't use the mouse at all. Regardless, a solid, stylish game. Nice work! |
| Apr 10 22:04:24 | 2h 09m | Snow Dude! | ♥ 2 | Really fun game! I like the idea of a platformer where you have a limited amount of jumps. Having the character shrink after jumping adds an extra interesting wrinkle to the gameplay. Being able to aim your jump in different directions was neat, although it wasn't really useful in the first few levels. Also, it could sometimes be hard to aim when near the bottom of the screen, since the position of my cursor relative to the character would change as the camera moved. Regardless, I still managed to beat the quite difficult final level and had a great time. Nice work! |
| Apr 21 19:20:59 | 261h 16m | Bombthrow | ♥ 1 | Pretty fun game! The gameplay was simple, but enjoyable. I like how there's the extra twist of being able to collect the little dots by throwing your bomb, although it took me a little while to figure that out. I will say that the timing window on the later levels was a bit tight. But, overall, a great game. Also, if you want to receive more ratings, you need to play and rate other people's games! The more ratings you give compared to the number of ratings you've received, the higher your game appears on the front page. If you want to receive 20 ratings, then you need to play and rate at least 20 other games. There's only 40 minutes left, so you probably don't have time anymore, but it's something to keep in mind for next time! |
