The Unreal Odyssey by cushycode 2016-08-30T10:40:00

I liked the minimalist 3D look of your game, the particle effects where nice and when you saw your Goal is was very different from all the rest of the scenery, which was much appreciated after 3 mins wandering around.
I'm afraid I couldn't really figure out how to use the star map to figure out my location and I swam off of the ocean a couple of times :( any hints on the map? would be curious to know what I was missing

Accidental Adventure: Ancient Technology by UrsiGames 2016-08-30T10:59:00

You guys got so much done in just 3 days - 3D characters, enviroments, loverly lighting, sound is appropriate and some good animations.
I got a bit stuck on the first level, but I enjoyed the bit I played up until then :)

Allan by Damdoshi 2016-08-31T18:21:00

I enjoyed the way the pillars looked as you moved around, it helped give the gave a really creepy undertone that added to the whole atmosphere. This didn't "feel" quite right to me when I reached the edges and the screen stopped moving, but other than this and an occasional graphical glitch it works really well.

Gameplay-wise it can be a little tricky to play. Due to the light levels I couldn't see where the turrets were before they started shooting me, so I got blasted often and died fairly early on. The game also seemed to crash when I died, not sure if that's how it designed to happen but if so it felt very abrupt.

The First Wheel by wooltech 2016-08-30T10:22:00

Nice Game, I enjoyed the simple story and the humour.

Couldn't get it running on chrome :( had to use mozilla

Aliens' Curse by Piotrek 2016-09-03T22:12:00

Nice game. I thought I would find the music repetitive at first, but it turned out there's enough variation to keep that from happening.

Only issues I had were the text being a little hard to read at times, and some sort of bug with shooting where the bullets disappeared moments after firing them.

AnSynth Technology by xclementx 2016-09-03T22:16:00

Not bad, especially considering the time you had to do this in. Music is so not my area, so I can't offer much on that side of things, although I think incorporating the controls into the keys might help improve things. Maybe some way to save or export your music too, but that might be beyond the scope of what you'd expect from a weekend-long jam.

Ramanet Pharaonis by CalmKai 2016-08-30T11:13:00

Nice work - A well thought out story and the art was pretty good.

I had some of the issues mentioned above and struggled to complete your game. But I enjoyed what I played, well done

I need tea by Truck 2016-08-30T10:50:00

Hello, I liked the music, the art is real cute and I too, would quite like a cup of tea after cryogenic sleep.

I was a little confused by the controls (pressing "z" to continue seemed a bit strange) and I think my confusion with the controls stopped me from understanding the puzzles.

I however didn't find any of the "bugs" you mention in your comments and the overall feel seemed pretty complete

LocusLudi by AcuadoyStudios 2016-12-17T20:47:00

Unfortunately I wasn't to play this game. I could load up the Jar file fine and go through the menus, but when I got into the main game I wasn't able to move at all. I tried both WASD and the arrow keys, but no luck. Anyone else had this problem?

LocusLudi by AcuadoyStudios 2016-12-17T23:13:00

@AcuadoyStudios - still having the same problem with the Jar file. It's the Windows one I'm using btw, although you seem to have the same link for both versions?

Mirror by kamranwali 2016-12-14T07:03:00

Very unnerving mood, it really unsettled me when I have to ration something as critical as light. I wasn't able to figure out how to lure the thing onto that bright spot. Was I supposed to get to go "on" to the switch, or just near it then run on myself?

Painted Red by V0odo0 2016-12-12T22:33:00

I had a few problems with controls, had to fiddle around a bit to get it register that I was highlighted a certain organ. The time limit seems very tight too. Not unfair, just really, really tough.

Other than that I have no criticism, I loved the game, and even though I had to replay it several times to beat it I still got tense when as the audio built towards those final few beats.

Bruce, the escaping ant by pcmxms 2016-12-14T21:59:00

I really like the idea, and the graphics are quite cute (simple, yet very effective). The audio is nice too, and I liked the little bits of story you see when you start at die (saw the last one a lot unfortunately). That stuff's all great, and very impressive for what looks to be your first Ludum Dare.

The bits I didn't like were the controls. It's been said before, but realistic physics doesn't work well in platformers. The first block for example, when if you touch it when trying to jump over and onto it, then you stop and just jump straight up instead. That unfortunately doesn't work, and resulted in me dying most of the time. A difficult game is fine, but it should be difficult for the right reasons. A quick restart button would certainly help too for those who aren't top notch at this sort of game :).

Puppertrator by NotExplosive 2016-12-15T22:22:00

Really loved this across the board, great graphics, audio, story, writing, and pretty much everything. It took me quite a bit of figuring out to solve, I knew who it was, but I was convinced it had to do with the bone rather than the thing it turned out to be.

Not much I can think of to offer in criticism. The only thing I can think of is that the graphics did this weird jittering effect as I moved the cursor around the screen. Sorry if that seems like I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel, but that's all I could find any fault with.

Ultra Violet Humanoids by seano 2016-12-17T23:57:00

I like the idea, but I found the AI too easy to beat unless I was being ganged up on. That was easy to game though if I moved away from the pack and let them slaughter each other. I did notice the game glitch out a few times though, with opponents frozen in place at the end of their attack animation, not moving until I interfered. They also seemed able to hurt me during this state, even when I was touching the side the sword wasn't on.

Overall this could be really good fun, but I felt its a little bit more polishing.

Walkie Talkie by managore 2016-12-17T23:45:00

Super impressive game again. The only thing I could think of to improve it would be a little background ditty to play as you "type". Always astounded at what you manage to improve in just a couple of days, not just in terms of the quality, but the way you manage to twist the theme in a way that I never expect.

Taken for Granite by nwestninja 2016-12-15T07:08:00

I really liked this. The art was The premise was interesting and did a lot a lot to make me sympathise with the main character, and the mini-games were varied enough to keep things from getting too repetitive. It's certainly an interesting way to portray disability in games, and I think the rejection letter from the Department of Magick Related Deaths & Injuries was a nice touch.

I did find a bug which froze the game completely (although the music is still going), where I jumped slightly into the side of one of the platforms in the jumping mini-game.

Only other criticism I have is that I think you include the [press Z to continue] prompt quite a lot in the conversations. It's probably only needed a few times, once at the start of a conversation at most. The ending did seem a bit unexpected, while I felt it helped me understood more about Ivy's situation and what she should do in the future, I'm not sure I understood why she had that revelation that soon. It would probably work in a longer game though

Behind The Wallpaper by LeafThief 2016-12-17T23:29:00

That was pretty incredible. The art, the audio, the mood, everything was spot on. It's interesting to see a less literal take on this theme, and the game didn't suffer for it one bit. I try to give at least a little constructive criticism, but I honestly can't think of a single thing that I'd change or improve about this game.

RoomLops Cleaning by Dejvo 2016-12-14T22:06:00

I quite liked the graphics, and the controls were interesting, it felt a bit like I was yanking the Roomba around on a big stretchy rope :). While the core gameplay as ok it felt like something was missing without something to aim for. While getting rid of the footsteps was fine, I never felt any reason to hurry up, or like I was achieving anything with it. To be fair, I feel we had the same issue with our own game so you're not the only one :).

Void by Sota 2016-12-17T20:13:00

I found this really difficult to play. The description mentions using the "sound of your heartbeat", I'm not sure if that meant there's supposed to be audio but unfortunately I heard nothing while playing it.

While I like the idea of a game where you can't just see the whole level, and have to use other means to find your way around, this one needed a little more guidance for the player. If there was something sound-based to guide you around this then I'm sorry I missed out on it.

Dungeon Custodian by ursagames 2016-12-15T20:46:00

I really enjoyed this, spent longer playing it than I realised. I loved the humour and overall feel for it, it didn't take itself too seriously, and whether it was intentional or not, the walk and attack animations really suited the rest of the game.

Only criticism I can think of are that I didn't know what most of the stats were for. I guessed that beefiness and larceny involved fighting and stealing, but beyond that I was clueless. I couldn't figure out what effect stamina had on anything either. Getting stuck with 5 golems until one of them croaked was frustrating too, it really needs a way to dismiss older monsters after the money starts rolling in. The progression of the game also seemed a bit slow, but some of that is down to me waiting for my golems to die.

Overall I really enjoyed it, one of top games for this Ludum Dare.

52-Card Pickup 2000 by KJB of IBwWG 2016-12-17T20:31:00

Interesting idea, basing a game of YDKJ skit :). Unfortunately I had a problem with the game, it kept on having massive issues with slowdown with the movement and mouse look. It mostly seemed to happen when I was looking sideways, and it would happily let me turn towards the ceiling. I'm not sure what's going on with that, but it doesn't look like anyone else commenting had that issue?

I didn't realise there was a time limit until I re-read the description. An on-screen indicator of some sort would really help here, whether it's a timer or a slowly shrinking bar. As others have said, a counter would also help.

Not a bad jam, hope to try more of your games in the future :).

One Room - The Challenge by delpes 2016-12-18T00:28:00

Really difficult game. This might be to some people's tastes, but I don't quite have the skill to master something like this. The screen was a little too small to see what was going on, but the full-screen version you've also uploaded seems to have fixed that issue. I though the graphics are audio weren't too bad, good using of lighting made up somewhat for the simpler block shapes.

The controls did bother me a bit. Having walls that instantly kill, asteroid-style propulsion, narrow corridors, and having to aim to see where the walls ended up being a bit too much for me. If you took out any one or two of those mechanics then I think the game would play a lot more smoothly.

ZROOMERS by neontropics 2016-12-12T23:38:00

Very trippy feel to this, I was bouncing around, spinning all over the place, firing randomly at things that I just couldn't hit, then getting shot by something else and spinning out of control. Even in the v1.01 version the steering felt pretty tough, like I was sliding around on ice.

The game itself was fun though, and as confusing and hard as it was I still had fun with it. Probably not the sort of game to play while lacking in sleep though. I did like the music, suits the game very well.
