Holey Moley by bitdecay 2021-04-27T17:33:51Z

The naked mole rat trivia was a great touch, it injects some great personality into the game and it taught me things! Moving upwards was frustrating sometimes since I felt I should be able to climb back up in ways that weren't possible, at which point I'd get trapped and die, and if that wasn't the case I'd outrace the snake easily. Might have been interesting to make the snake speed up so that simply creating long paths wouldn't be enough to outrun it if you took too long. But overall I enjoyed it and now I have all these wonderful mole-rat inspired topics for conversation!

Holey Moley by bitdecay 2021-04-27T22:53:27Z

@bitdecay Yeah, I think it was just bad luck, every layer I went through was also blocked at the bottom and I died before I found a way out because it was early on. I really enjoyed the various layers (I guess I just forgot to mention it in my feedback like a fool), but it did take me a few runs to realize I could do it. Inspired by your comment I tried to go recreate the same situation, but no matter how much I cornered myself I was finding exits in the other layers. However in trying to find that problem I was able to get the snake stuck by switching layers very quickly. Still had a fun time, and got reminded of how much I enjoyed the music on my replay. Keep up the good work!

Explovation by sadsmile 2021-04-27T03:56:01Z

I loved getting used to the different bomb patterns, though in using one of the larger ones I apparently triggered some other explosive which caused a bunch of blocks to collapse, it was super exciting but seemed to cause the game to get stuck at a single frame per second and I had to restart. But don't worry, I refuse to let this be my last run!

Oiligarch by dxk2294 2021-04-27T05:50:26Z

The game was overwhelming at first, the clock starts ticking as soon as it starts and there's a lot of information on the screen, but once I got the basics I was hooked! This is really well executed, I just wish there was a larger goal to build towards after purchasing all the rights from the governments. I've got all these millions and not that much to spend them on as the profitability quickly outpaced the cost of investments. It would also be nice to have a more centralized way to look at routes and optimize them, but its extremely satisfying to hear that register keep ringing regardless!

A Friendly Dig by Chillen 2021-04-27T03:12:21Z

I really dug the aesthetic and tone of the game! But it took me longer than I'd like to admit that there was a typo in the control instructions on the start screen and that S, not D was what I needed to do to dig. I also wish there as a different command for hitting and carrying the bodies since often they will all start to pile up and it can quickly get more frustrating than challenging. Lastly I found some hitbox issues that would make me fall underground, though I was always able to climb back up regardless, so despite being the bigger technical issue it didn't really get in the way of the fun that much. Keep up the good work!Screenshot 2021-04-26 22.05.05.png

NO DIGGING by Kovakomes 2021-04-27T02:59:55Z

Got good at dodging the boulders after my first death, but was disappointed to find they often landed in places that were inconvenient for my digging, especially when environmental manipulation is such a fun mechanic! So I got bored and tried to find a way through the mountains, which I did and jumped off the end of the world. I just wish there was more to do, or a clearer way to find more things to doScreenshot 2021-04-26 21.56.45.png

NO DIGGING by Kovakomes 2021-04-27T04:50:16Z

@Kovakomes Hey, same thing with my game. Even ended up making a bunch of assets that we never got a chance to implement, but I'm happy with everything I learned from. I hope you learned a lot too, environmental manipulation is tough! Don't let the time limit discourage you!

Excavatris Inc. by Neon Glass 2021-04-27T06:53:07Z

There are a lot of twists added to the recognizable core of tetris here, and although I enjoyed blasting blocks with my special abilities it almost feels like too much? Having to aim was enough of a distraction I forgot I could pocket pieces until well into the game. This left me wondering if perhaps pairing down some of those controls could help some of the more creative additions shine, like how satisfying it is to descend as it stops being about just clearing rows and becomes about advancing into somewhere which I found really engaging... In fact engaging enough that I should probably be asleep already but kept playing well past when I should have stopped, and will probably come back to it tomorrow to see how deep I can go.Screenshot 2021-04-27 01.52.40.png

Bumpy Drilly by Paul-Maxime 2021-04-27T04:36:39Z

The simplicity of just pointing and clicking made the gameplay loop really work for me, and the higher rewards were paced out enough that by the time I grew tired there was always something new to collect to keep me wondering if there was an endgame, and there was! Though admittedly the trip back was really tedious because of the way my tunnels had been built. I wish there was a more explicit challenge to the game, suggestions like timing it could do it, or even just introducing some aspect of player agency where rather than upgrading drilling speed and light source at once perhaps we could choose?

Molehills by voidfishing 2021-04-27T16:24:48Z

The chill music and the story at the beginning were the highlight for me, I wish there was some kind of challenge to finishing though, or at least some reflection of player decision in the game, maybe with more story beats as a reward? Very cute moles though!

Diving for Dinner by Kontiko 2021-04-27T16:46:37Z

Really enjoyed the basic gameplay loop, and that dash was a life-saver! Though I do wish there was a visual aid to know when it was back up as my daring-do style sometimes had me relying on it when it wasn't there. On one start I was launched from my Igloo directly into a sharks mouth, but its easy and fast enough to start over it just felt funny. The same was not true of the Orca that followed me to the surface and simply would not leave, no matter how much effort I put into leading it elsewhere, an indication to help the players know if they are still being pursued when it comes to enemies that are more persistent at longer ranges would help with that, or maybe just making ones like the orca lose interest if you get too close to the surface might. I had a lot of fun regardless though!

Swan Forest by makkurataichou 2021-04-27T02:32:59Z

Really enjoyed the music, and even the way silence was used! The little insights into the lives of the guards were nice, but it was the meeting with the king that brought it together for me. I just wish I could search the grass while standing closer to it, took me a little while to figure that one out.

Dwarfer Moleman by RodPraet 2021-04-27T19:25:54Z

It would help if there was some change to the ground or to the character when they are digging, I was a bit confused about it at first, but once I got the hang of it digging to avoid enemies was fun and easy. Got a bit annoyed by how loud and repetitive the enemy sounds were, but it paid off for me with the way it was modified for the final wave which made it funny again. I wish there was some form of underground enemy type so digging carried some sort of drawback though.

Treasure dive by Thagiat 2021-04-27T22:43:08Z

I finally reached rock bottom! Really enjoyed the core gameplay loop, though fuel certainly feels a bit too restrictive early on, and the speed upgrades didn't feel like they really helped, probably because of the fixed rate of turning. Am I crazy for thinking this might be easier on an inverted axis? For some reason my brain kept trying to turn that way even though I seldom play games that control like that. Really liked the ability to loop around the edges, and the music was really chill too. A few things were also a bit unclear early on like the fuel icon being a lightning bolt but the refill being an oil drop, still played it for like an hour though so clearly none of these things could stop me from having my share of fun. Good job and keep up the good work!

Root Deeper by BrielleY 2021-04-27T02:52:03Z

It can be a bit frustrating to start so many times just to feel I never got enough CO2 to get to the point where I was really making decisions, but the gameplay loop is rewarding enough that I kept at it! I wish there was some way to influence the amount of CO2 I was getting as a player, or that there was a some acknowledgement by the game when I maximized my roots and was swimming in water. That being said I really enjoyed the concept!Screenshot 2021-04-26 21.47.30.png

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-27T04:55:08Z

@kovakomes Thanks for taking the time to play, review, and give feedback! I'm glad the limitations encouraged the type of gameplay we were hoping to focus on, though we definitely wish we'd had more time to design levels to introduce players to it better since I myself struggle with some of those jumps haha

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-27T16:07:48Z

@locustjin Hmmm, perhaps we should lean into it and set it up for a winter holiday release? ;)

@bigbadbison There were other mechanics that didn't make it in, but we hadn't thought of making them exclusive to being used when you aren't digging, but it is certainly something I will be thinking of now!

@fribolin Yeah, fine tuning the colliders to crush all those bugs is tough, but I'm glad parts of what made the core mechanic so exciting for us to make got across!

**Thank you everyone for the feedback and ratings!** **Its my first jam so they're super appreciated!**

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-27T16:19:06Z

@fredripper2077 We've definitely learned a some lessons about how to organize our workflow better so we can make more time for QA. Thanks for mentioning you feel its worth turning into a full game, like many others it is certainly something we will be considering moving forward, and feedback like this helps!

@thejonu Sorry to hear that, but glad the core mechanic interested you regardless, its clearly what got us excited about making this game haha

@chillen Love the "sand-shark" analogy, would probably make for a fun enemy type too! The idea of adding a move the player could use mid-air as a way of giving them more control is one I have been giving though to, we love movement in games and the idea of a dash or a "chomp" are really interesting solutions!

**Thank you again for taking the time to play, all feedback is deeply appreciated!** **The game had to stop there for now, but our learning from its design and development continues!**

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-28T00:47:49Z

@simex Thank you so much for this feedback! You're 100% right that the core mechanic was the driving force behind it, and that other people see the potential in it despite its rough state fills me with joy. If we keep working on it the tight platforming you describe is exactly what we would aspire to! So thank you again for taking the time, I welcome the blunt insight! We're here to learn and improve after all!

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-28T00:52:31Z

@evil-villain-games We actually didn't realize we could do any more work on it! I'll definitely let ChrisAP who did all of the development know, we went completely hands off as soon as the timer ended in fear we might break some rule haha. And I made the same comparison to Kingdom when I first saw the bag in action! So glad you took the time to play it and enjoyed!

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-28T01:05:51Z

@tessahardin A nuanced metaphor for greed? Just fun physics systems that entertained us? You decide!

@teenythanos Thank you! Its really encouraging to see how engaging so many people are finding it despite the issues we couldn't iron out in time!

@jordan-ottesen You caught us! ChrisAP is a speedrunner, its really cool you picked up on those influences!

@dwink Yes! You found the secret path (shhhhh) and also experienced the consequences haha, I'm glad you seem to have taken it in good jest, its a difficult game.

**Thank you again to everyone for taking the time to play, rate, and give us feedback it means a lot to me!**

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-28T01:08:43Z

@evil-villain-games Thanks! We will be looking into what we think is reasonable to adjust after checking in with my partner. Really appreciate you taking the time, I'm a complete first timer in the jam scene and it has been awesome to run into people like yourself and so many others in the community so willing to help!

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-28T01:13:18Z

@candlebird You found the secret! Don't get me wrong, the game has bugs but that feature was actually intentional haha, you'll notice that if you follow the abnormal tiling it'll get you back to the start!

Archeomoleist by aniur 2021-04-27T17:22:10Z

Love this puzzle approach to pathing! Though I wish there was a bit more of worm density, often big swaths of the map generated don't have enough worms that I can feel they're worth pursuing in a way that feels limiting for the game. I'd almost never get blocked by my own tunnel for example, and I feel like that was supposed to be a larger part of the gameplay, but worms are such a necessity turning back to get something seldom felt like a real option. The music was really cute too, and this is now one of my favorite mole-based games in the jam. Keep up the great work!

Darkness Muse by Evil Villain Games 2021-04-28T01:37:46Z

Was very proud of having taken no damage and then I reached the final level... What a delightful game! I did not mind bullets costing health, especially since enemies and their projectiles are made so that they can usually be seen in low light, but that doesn't remove the tension either because at low light you can't tell if there's anything between them and you in the maze or if you're about to get shot. Though I did feel difficulty spiked at the very end, I thought I was going to breeze through it all until I hit the very end, but would not have minded giving it another go since I loved the way the musical notes bounced! This game gave me BOE Big Orpheus Energy, so I guess I should not have been surprised it got so poetic towards the end, but I did and in a good way! Great work, especially considering this was your first! Keep up the good work!

Introspection by Zuwu 2021-04-27T03:17:29Z

Hi there! Was trying to play but the link seems to be broken, at least it isn't working for me.

A mole by Yuubari 2021-04-27T19:17:00Z

Infinite Descent by BluishGreenPro 2021-04-27T20:04:04Z

Limited palette, limited environments, but unlimited fun! Depth isn't just in the descent of the game, but in the depth of the its level design. A great example of how focusing n level design can really pay off. Saw this played on stream and had to try it out myself, was not disappointed... Except when I lost my 9X combo to that laser. Congrats and keep up the great work!

Cave-In by JPshoe 2021-04-27T03:31:54Z

Letting my miners die was not good for me... I have 3 of them left, but they no longer seem to make any money, just stuck at $32. I'm going to restart because I'm curious to see the other levels, but wanted to share the bug first Screenshot 2021-04-26 22.28.59.png

Cave-In by JPshoe 2021-04-27T03:36:05Z

Ran into the same issue again, this time because of a cave-in, I think. It appears to be triggered somehow by the death of the miners. Screenshot 2021-04-26 22.34.45.png

Cave-In by JPshoe 2021-04-27T05:08:29Z

@jpshoe Thank you, I hadn't realized that I could revert the structural upgrades! Now I can finally get back at those spiders!
