Is there a specific end? I got to a yellowish cube, then there was nothing but a single black cube under it? When I fell again it reset the stage...

Anyway, the core idea is neat and the lighting mechanic is a great idea. I think it could be improved by randomized timing between flashes, and perhaps more frequent flashes (sometimes I felt a bit impatient waiting for them). It's a fun game in any case =]

GRAViTRON by grimpunch 2013-04-28T18:31:00

Pretty cool! It felt rather chaotic at first, but after a few turns it was rather fun =]

GRAViTRON by grimpunch 2013-04-29T04:09:00

219 points. Quitting whilst I'm ahead...

Nano by psychopsam 2013-04-30T06:45:00

Cool style and idea (yay science!), but I have to agree with the floaty controls and slow projectile speed making the game a little unfair. The exponential replication means the only sound strategy is to kill anti-matter straight away. On the first few levels this is okay because they're all close together and you start off facing towards them... but it goes from being a little too easy to virtually impossible around the 4th or 5th level. Still, the style is great, the mood is cool, and it fits the theme well.

shon by bitnenfer 2013-04-30T12:40:00

Great mood and excellent presentation. I like to think of it as "Shepherd Simulator 2013"... The wolves ate my sheep =[

Guess I'm not cut out to be a shepherd after all.

SLEEP! we have a long way to go by NicoJaujou 2013-04-30T07:35:00

Excellent mood, graphics and audio, and a really unique idea to boot! It's super relaxing, and I love the fact that "way to go" doesn't matter at all by the end of it. I enjoyed this - thanks =]

swim by codl 2013-04-30T10:20:00

theRestlessTaxidermists kind of said what I wanted to say. Relaxing environment, but the load seems excessive and the camera would be more effective if you could see more where you were going.

The mood's nice, though, and the tech seems impressive even if it's more toy than game.

On Minimalism by richy486 2013-04-30T08:40:00

There I was, having made it through hell, enjoying a nice stroll through a couple of screens of progressively narrower but danger-free lanes, when it crashed =[

(Windows version, I'm running Win7 x64. I was at the end of a very narrow screen-long lane if that helps at all)

Still rating you up - this was far better than the screenshots might have led me to think!

Join by Perry 2013-04-28T18:24:00

Oh man, the timing gets crazy hard on the longer levels - but it feels great to beat 'em. Nice job!

Cimi Mal by Jesper Oskarsson 2013-05-01T15:55:00

A really interesting and innovative idea, though perhaps hampered somewhat by a lack of clear direction. It generally feels as though you ask the player to solve a puzzle that will reveal a goal, rather than showing them the goal first and asking them to solve the puzzle to get there. This takes away some of the intentionality in player behaviour, I think - it's just trial and error until you find a place that works, that seems like the way forward. (This might seem hypocritical if you play my game, but I think it's a different kind of experience... maybe...)

But - and this is important - it's a really, really neat idea. Full marks for innovation, and I rate it high overall =]

(Follow the) Line by Chman 2013-04-29T07:22:00

Very cool! I refused to read instructions so it took me a while to realise it was a single button game (I had been pressing directional arrows up until about level 16), but it was a great challenge. Definitely matches the theme!

(Follow the) Line by Chman 2013-04-29T07:28:00

Just to add to that - infinite mode is great, but it would be even better if I could press a single button to retry rather than having to move back to my mouse - it's lazy, I know, but I feel like taking my hand of the keyboard messes with the flow.

Monoboy by jhrrsn 2013-04-30T08:48:00

Awesome style and good mechanics. I think the level design could have gotten a little crazier - perhaps more puzzle-like to get the most out of the mechanic. Still, it was a fun experience over all!

A Game of Boxes by DarkX2 2013-04-30T11:57:00

The controls are nasty!

... but the idea is good, and the design is quite nice =]

KEY by Mousseto 2013-04-30T08:22:00

Style's cool, but gameplay feels a bit broken. Does the game have an end? Does it get harder? Why do bad guys only spawn when I move? Do I win the game by sitting still and doing nothing, so no baddies spawn? Without a score or a progress bar to motivate the player, it all seems a little pointless. I get the sense that I could move a tiny bit, let some guys spawn, spin around shooting in all directions to kill them - wash, rinse and repeat until the end of time, without it ever getting to critical mass.

The graphic design side of things is awesome, and the core elements of gameplay are there - they just need some reworking to make the game feel like it has a goal (and ideally, to give the player tighter control of movement)!

Life by caporaltito 2013-04-30T11:40:00

Seems like an interesting idea, but it ran really poorly for me so I haven't rated it.

Orbicular by metalcan 2013-04-30T09:50:00

Excellent audio and visuals, the mechanic is interesting and the variation in stages is great. What's less great is the one-hit game over. Why!? Why make me start again when I've made it all the way to 37!? Why not just set me back 5 points or something? I kind of lost interest after such a big loss.

Still, the mood is great and for the other reasons you've won my approval overall. Great job :D

Cylinder by Jacqueslelezard 2013-04-30T07:45:00

Cool concept and design, and your colours and lighting are well picked. I think the controls might have worked better if 'q' and 'e' were used for rotations, or even if you used the left and right mouse buttons. As other's have said, the game might have benefited from being a little faster, too - both in terms of player speed and rotation speed. Still, it's a good idea and it fits the theme well!

Between the lines by martijn 2013-04-29T08:50:00

Oh man... Some of those levels are just mean, but the style is excellent! I agree with some existing comments regarding music and the slightly tedious climbing that appears on a few stages. A couple of steps would be cool, but sometimes it's just too much - especially if you die and have to start again. Also, I got stuck on the 'line with no colour' level for a crazy amount of time. I thought maybe there were invisible lines or something, until I eventually found the mechanic which lets you beat it (I imagine some earlier stages might have been easier too if I'd discovered the mechanic sooner!).

Still, this is one of the few games that had me wanting to persevere to the very end, and the sense of achievement when beating the game was great, even if I only had 4 potatoes =[

Chao Ab Ordo by ZeroDivide 2013-04-30T07:17:00

Hahaha, this is pretty cool. I'd describe it as a 'sinking-ship simulator'.

I don't think I'd play it more than once as it kind of feels like luck, but the experience is interesting all the same.

As for pointers - mouse control might have made the game feel a little fairer, and I think it's a mistake to make the game-over screen disappear when you press space - by the end of the game I was spamming space, and I totally missed my score!

end by Aevek 2013-04-29T07:49:00

Some very cool ideas here, but I felt like it was a little too slow at times (either the player could move faster, or distances could have been made shorter) - and the lack of music or ambient effects made the world feel a little too empty for me. The puzzles were cool, though, and the signs were a nice touch =]

Digital H by winesays 2013-05-20T10:16:00

Haha, it does seem like we've given each other a taste of our own confusing medicine. Nice job in any case, you've got an awesome mood and great style!

Scout by Trench 2013-04-30T09:40:00

I have to agree - there's not quite enough here to make it a fun game in it's own right. The world is pretty enough, which made it interesting to explore - but the process of having to bring individual items back to the shelter one at a time became a little tedious, and I was disappointed when there was no reward at the end!

Art and basic movement mechanics are good, though, and as the previous poster suggested, there's certainly potential here =]

Scariest monsters ever.

Touch Blocks, Avoid Spikes by ecbambrick 2013-04-29T06:59:00

I only made it as far as level 8 before rage quitting, but it's a great little game with awesome sound design and visuals that sit really well with the theme.

Yeah, maybe got a bit carried away with the difficulty level! I wasn't going to do the jam at first, but after hearing the theme I got this idea for a super-challenging memory game and decided to give it a shot. Originally there weren't even going to be patterns to show you which side was activated - you had to do it all by ear. I made it a bit easier than that, but maybe it's still a little too tricky!

MUBIC by Hadyn 2013-04-30T07:07:00

@CageRat - there are audio clues as well as the flashing. At first you have to experiment to figure out which side makes which sound, but once you get the hang of it you can rely more on that than the flash. It's a game which admittedly asks players to be a little patient at first, and then to focus really, really hard - but in theory it's a better memory workout for it.

My real aim was to make a memory game which tests the player in more ways than usual. Rather than simply memorising a pattern (which is kind of old hat), you have to learn which sounds correspond to which sides so you know which sides to hit even when you can't see them. I made it even harder by choosing relatively similar sounds for each face... Actually, it's probably a little bit easier for those with a musical background, who may have better pitch and are more used to identifying melodies.

Beyond that, you also have to be constantly mindful of which direction you've spun the cube in - constructing a mental map to visualise where you are in relation to each face of the cube. Colour coding would make the game easier, but at the cost of its ability to -really- test your working memory ;)

In short, it's hardcore, but it's intentional. I'm testing both auditory and visuo spatial memory at the same time, and in multiple ways. I've seen a few people make it quite far (level 6-8), but it requires a bit of time and focus, and I understand that a lot of people won't be so willing to dedicate that time in the midst of all these ratings! =]

MUBIC by Hadyn 2013-04-30T07:10:00

By the way - thanks everyone for the feedback so far - it's great =]

MUBIC by Hadyn 2013-04-30T10:37:00

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Hipster Annihilator 9000 by deige101 2013-04-30T09:10:00

Great humor and an interesting take on the theme.

Loki by francoisvn 2013-04-30T09:29:00

It ran fine on my win7x64 pc... guess I already have the right dll.

Cool game, anyway! You boiled roguelike down to it's core, and made something quite fun to play =]

Unfurl by TeamEagle 2013-04-30T12:21:00

I think you ought to tone down the made up description a little - or at least make it more obvious that it's made up. As it stands, it had me wondering just how innovative this really was! For a moment I even questioned whether it was actually made for the jam or whether this was just some random game that you were using the jam to advertise.

The game might actually be better appreciated without the fiction surrounding it - at least during voting season!

Anyway, the game itself is super-peaceful, well made and excellently presented. Nice job :D

DudeJump by agnulf 2013-04-30T13:04:00

There might be awesome platforming here, but with constant restarts and mean controls I'm unable to reach it =P

The style and sound are great in any case - I'd be keen to check it out again once you've added your fixes =]

Minima by CagedRat 2013-04-29T08:03:00

You certainly fit the theme, but I found the gameplay to be a little too out of my control. There's one basic strategy (get blue against a wall), but otherwise it's just randomly bumping into walls that appear too late for you to avoid them! That, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do about getting home - I got lost, blue stopped talking, and I gave up =[

Still, it's a quirky idea and the style is great, even if the gameplay feels a little frustrating at times!

Super Rope Dungeon by Halfbus 2013-04-30T13:44:00

Amazing atmosphere! The only thing that got me was - what am I supposed to do after getting the potato!? I made my way all the way back to the start and there was... nothing...?

Oh, wait - I see, you can only get to the credits screen once you beat it... Well, that's something... still, a clearer YOU WIN screen might have been a nicer reward for my daring potato thieving exploits ;)

Still, you nailed the mood, the graphics are sweet, and the rope mechanic is mostly awesome (a little more force on the swings might have helped - or continued momentum as you swing from rope to rope). Excellent job over all :D

llab by tonic 2013-04-30T07:28:00

You pulled off the simple style well with some nice lighting, and gameplay is quite unique! I think you could have benefited from having damp walls - walls which don't cause you to bounce back - in certain spots where you need to fit through tight spaces, and there was one part in particular where I got stuck a few times because my bounce height got messed up. A trampoline or an easier method of self-destruction (such as a large pit to fall down) may have helped! Still you made a fun game that's on theme - nice one =]

Cellvorsum by AirRider3 2013-04-30T08:10:00

Great style and cool audio, though gameplay feels a lot like games I've played before (Osmos springs to mind, though I'm sure there are others). The gravity/mass element is a nice touch, but it means the game gets hard very fast after the first level - I'd lost the third level within seconds because all the little bits got eaten up before I could reach them!

That said, it's hard not to enjoy something so well presented. Nice job!

Cellvorsum by AirRider3 2013-04-30T10:43:00

Haha, the placebo effect... I could have sworn it was getting harder ;)

I'm impressed by the tech! I hadn't actually noticed it was all html5 - I just assumed it was Flash for some reason. And yeah, nice job getting gamepad support in - it was nice to take a break from mouse and keyboard to sit back with my 360 pad for a bit =]

# by Kitch 2013-04-30T08:00:00

Perfect! Awesome sound, visuals, mood, potato facts. Well done =]

The Square - By Suese by Suese 2013-04-29T08:13:00

Great style, polish and sense of humor. Gameplay is fun enough, though the attack feels a little limited and the enemies aren't overly challenging. Still, I like what you've done with the theme!

Minimalazor by Robotic 2013-04-30T08:28:00

Oh man, I loved this from the moment the first triangle filled my screen. Music and design is brilliant, and gameplay encompasses a brilliant take on the minimalist theme! Excellent work!
