LD46 — Keep it alive

Shipping Schrödinger's Cat by Hjalte 2020-04-21T00:35:50Z

This is super cute! I saw cats and I had to play! The mechanic is neat, and the puzzles are rewarding to solve!

Dance Commander by detectiveLosos 2020-04-22T04:13:08Z

I am a huge sucker for rhythm games so this was right up my alley! It was a very creative take on the theme. I do feel like the beat was very hard to follow, and some sort of indicator on the timing would've been helpful on when to press, more than just feedback after the fact on if it was good or bad.

That said, the music was groovy and the graphics really complimented it as well! Overall a really solid game!

Metagame by itsonrandom 2020-04-22T03:04:06Z

This was a really awesome concept! I loved your take on the theme, and it scaled up well! I did find the music made it feel all the more stressful when the enemies were rushing at you, so it was probably fitting. I did find the 'walls' to feel a little small, and I think it would've been nice to have a hover to show you where they were being placed before they were placed since it was a bit tricky to tell if it was in just the right spot!

Tamagotchu by beats 2020-04-22T00:44:40Z

Neat concept! I liked the hand drawn tamagotchi dance at the end!

Happy Life by scalliondelight 2020-04-21T01:47:40Z

It reminds me of a Tamagotchi! Super cute! Loved how the hand cursor changed for different actions. I did find unlocking the phone to be a bit tricky/not super smooth, but all in all, just as stressful and satisfying as an virtual pet is! The music is also super charming~

Corona Grocery Run by sneakycocoon 2020-04-21T00:12:44Z

The "Do you have a soul comment" killed me haha! I love the minimalist feel you went with here, and I'm always a sucker for text adventures!!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-20T13:55:28Z

@cannedveg Hey Cannedveg! Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!! I definitely got some feedback IRL that more instructions would've been nice to aid in completing it, so you're not alone in being a little confused. It's something I'll certainly keep in mind for my next Ludum Dare to spend a little more time on!

Not sure if this is allowed, but I'll add it as a little note here that clicking on the tabletop lets you put items back down!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-21T00:49:58Z

Thanks @jaschez and @bloodpulpgames !! I appreciate the nice feedback!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-21T00:51:02Z

Hey @boltzmannsbud ! Thanks for the nice feedback! I definitely wonder if maybe I made the win condition a little too specific. While I don't want to spoil anything for people who might pop by, maybe after the conclusion of the jam I'll post the solution!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-21T01:19:44Z

Hi @fiakaiera ! I really appreciate the in-depth feedback, and I definitely agree on the points you made! A timer was definitely something I considered, and that was cut for time (ironically).

If you liked the game, I definitely recommend Assemble with Care, which I realized afterwards uses a sort of similar mechanic!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-21T01:20:56Z

@mahalis Thank you for the kind feedback! I think I was sort of subconsciously inspired by BMO design wise! Very simple, and yet very cute!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-22T00:05:31Z

@team-on Thanks for the feedback!! Definitely got that suggestion from a few people! I added it to the itch page for now - and I'll keep it in mind for the next jam!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-23T01:28:37Z

Thanks @annie-owl ! I appreciate the kind feedback! Not my first game, but a game jam is definitely a different kind of pressure haha I feel like I learned a lot!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-24T03:30:54Z

Thanks for the feedback @alaah !! Yes, that is the end!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-25T02:03:57Z

Thank you @god-colo , @necrofear , and @beelzeboss !

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-25T02:05:23Z

@blushine I was reminded more of it after I finished the jam (and recommended it further up the comment list because it's a very good game)!

I LOVE your idea so much - never replaced one myself because it's so nerve wracking! That would've been a neat idea, and I totally didn't think about it!!

Help! I'm Broken! by alessia-ip 2020-04-25T21:04:53Z

Thank you @louis-denizet! Glad you enjoyed it!

Blazing Pig! by VargMurtter 2020-04-22T04:20:53Z

The pig is adorable! I like your idea and it fit the theme quite well. I did find it rather difficult to play, as it seemed to only work with the mouse. I think it would've been easier if the direction of the weapon faced the mouse, but let you use the space bar instead to fire the projectiles, especially since it seemed the mouse needed to be on the enemy instead of just pointing at it! While mechanically a bit difficult to play, I still quite enjoyed it, and played a number of rounds - and I got a little further every time as I figured out which weapon I liked best!

Pass it On by Ryan Jung 2020-04-21T01:58:57Z

This is very thematic, and creative too! I can't believe this came out of a game jam with how polished it is! The timer is very stressful, but I kept playing round after round!

Feed da Boss! by Eli Palmer 2020-04-21T02:24:55Z

Very tricky! I found the controls a bit floaty, but it just took a bit of getting used to! The music is amazingly catchy, and the graphic style is super cute!

Man's Best Friend by Schmolt 2020-04-21T00:43:41Z

I found this didn't run in Chrome for me, but it did work in Safari! I liked how much you were able to convey with very minimal pixel art! I think it definitely set the tone well, and it was a very fun balance of keeping 'friends' and staying alive!

Decay by Andrew Roulst 2020-04-21T01:10:36Z

This is beautiful!! I really love the art! It took a bit of getting used to the mechanics to figure out the puzzles, but it's both technically and artistically really well made! I spent quite a while playing and trying to do things as efficiently as possible!

RatJar by PolyOrbit Studio 2020-04-21T00:23:04Z

This was really fun! I did have to turn the graphics settings down considerably to avoid the lag, but I found the controls challenging and interesting! And the environment was really well crafted! I have to say, most of all I enjoyed the way things broke!!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

LoopyDraw by sanojian 2020-10-06T00:29:48Z

This is so neat! I always love drawing tools, and this is a pretty great one to have made in just a few days. Love that it's collaborative - there were some nice drawings already in there when I popped in, and it was heartwarming to think people from all over had added a little bit to the artwork. The UI is fairly intuitive as well, and it was fun to play around with.

F Minus 1 by automatonvx 2020-10-08T00:09:19Z

Very neat racing game! Mood wise, I think you nailed it, with the colours, and sharper ship/car shapes. The music is very techno and this all works quite well together to feel very futuristic. It fits the stuck in a loop theme really well too!

I'm inclined to agree the controls needed a bit more polish to be perfect. The level design was very well done (and I loved the way the maneuvering was on inclines and declines - the tilts felt very dynamic!), and seemed like perfect tracks, and I think it was the lack of a way to drift that made the sharp corners harder to make. There are a couple spots as well where the camera is obscured by the walls of the track, which makes maneuverability harder.

Mechanically, I loved the variety of buttons you'd allow for so I could play in the most comfortable manner! :D

I think I liked track two the best!

StuckyLoop by ownedstuff 2020-10-11T18:30:35Z

Great concept. Really liked the upgrades from the store, and the colours you chose made everything very legible in my opinion!

I did run into a few issues while playing on the web version - it was possible to jump right out of the tube of the level! I did find some of the obstacles also seemed to have strange colliders that I could pass straight through, but it seemed inconsistent as of when this happened.

Really liked the music and it felt like a perfect fit for your game. Would definitely love to have additional music in the shop to play to as well!

Temple of Heh by p0l4r 2020-10-08T03:27:38Z

The atmosphere of the game is super nice. I really enjoyed the aesthetic, and it reminded me a bit of CSGO surfing as well with the way the slopes were structured in the game!

I think the level design seemed interesting, but I agree it was rather difficult to maneuver, at least on the web version. The slopes gave me the most trouble to maneuver on. That said, I still played it a number of times because the actual abstract level is super fun to jump through!

Paper Loop by Nakami 2020-10-11T14:28:23Z

Very lovely and calming game to play. It feels exceptionally polished, and it's a nice touch to get the option to repeat levels. I was still figuring out how to play the first time, and really liked being able to keep at the same level until I had a better score for it.

If you think about it, ain't a sling a murder loop? by matthewrobo 2020-10-08T22:48:00Z

This game has a gorgeous minimalism to it. The harsh contrasting colours feel really crisp and satisfying, but it has an edge that I think suits the title with red over any other colour. The UI is super simple, but super clean and crisp as well, and feels very balanced with the rest of the game. Easy to tell how many hits you have left as well.

Everything about this is super satisfying. The sound design works so well with the game-feel, and makes each impact feel more tactile, and the little bit of animation (like the pops when they disappear, or the little pops in the menu) just make this feel very polished overall. Really, really great game!

If you think about it, ain't a sling a murder loop? by matthewrobo 2020-10-09T02:55:34Z

@matthewrobo Hello from playtest Thursday haha! :D

I'm not a SHMUP sort of person so it's really neat seeing your creative inspirations! I can definitely see how they influenced your submission, and I think you made something very cohesive and beautiful from it. Definitely going to check out Solid Aether because of that gorgeous minimalism QuQ Thank you for sharing!

Swop by igaryhe 2020-10-05T00:46:45Z

What an awesome puzzle game! It's such a great combination of a very interesting mechanic, and clever levels!

It was short, but each level made me think long and hard to figure each one out. They were all super clever and it was a thrill to be able to solve them!

Mechanically, it's very smooth. The cause and effect seemed quite clear, and it was very nice having the sound effects for each action so it never feels like there was no feedback for something happening. The undo button was a blessing, and made the game much more forgiving to play, which for me was another bonus. I'm not exceptionally good at puzzle games, and it definitely removed the aspect of frustration from seeing the correct move after making an incorrect one!

The art was very clean, and I think the simplicity of it made the puzzles much more legible as well. The bold red was a great choice for the intractable object.

Overall really well done! I can only hope you'll make more levels sometime! :D

@yangying Thanks for playing! :D I'm glad you liked it, and really appreciate your feedback! I definitely wish I had more time to refine the movement and I'm going to try and build off that next time I make a platformer~

Chamber One by alessia-ip 2020-10-06T05:26:32Z

@igaryhe Thank you!! You were one of my inspirations for the meta feel! :D I... I like your idea a ton too now- next time, I'm going to borrow that >:D

Chamber One by alessia-ip 2020-10-06T05:27:47Z

@gurbx Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it! Not endless by any means - I've definitely had at least one person play it crazy fast so far, and it's fun to see what times people can beat it at :D

@jenny-bourke Ahh thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed~ The font is [Major Mono Display](https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Major+Mono+Display#pairings), if you'd ever like to use it for anything! :D

@noahw Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it~~

Chamber One by alessia-ip 2020-10-08T23:01:12Z

@sanojian I think I was a little too self conscious about my sense of humour to include the category, but it's nice to know it wasn't as unfunny as I was worried about! Oops! Thank you for playing :D

Chamber One by alessia-ip 2020-10-08T23:03:49Z

@miku Ahhh thank you! I'm glad to hear the wall bump wasn't too infuriating! It was my solution to preventing the player from jumping sideways through the tiles in the air. >u<

Chamber One by alessia-ip 2020-10-08T23:07:17Z

@automatonvx Awesome time!:D Thank you for playing

Wasn't just the web build, I promise! Really appreciate the feedback on the jump and difficulty curve :D

Challenge Accepted by yangying 2020-10-05T15:31:46Z

Really enjoyed your game, Yangying! It felt very tongue in cheek humourous, and it fits the theme super well, especially having to start back from the beginning. The first few I got right and then... then it did get super difficult!

I really loved the audience reactions, which made it feel much more like an actual gameshow.

Derps 'n' Dergs - One shot to save the world! by Kooh 2020-10-08T04:05:50Z

The art and music for this game is amazing! The whole aesthetic is super put together. The screen's got a lovely composition, reminiscent of a visual novel with the character framing and the choice menus that are present. All the characters are super unique as well and have a lot of personality to them!

I did feel there was a bit of a lack of feedback to picking party members - I got a game over, but wasn't really sure if it was the party member combo, or sheer RNG that caused it, so more feedback in that area would really strengthen the game-play loop!

Sisyphus Beetle Takes His Daughter to Work by pee-thief 2020-10-06T05:24:00Z

The jokes were bad, and so, so worth it. Super fun game, and really convincing sound effects for the background. I think it's a really effective and hilarious contrast to start in a regular seeming room and slowly see the flames burning in the background, only to skid back with every failure.

I spent far too long trying to haggle down the price.

Definitely a super creative take on the theme, and my excitement to play your game was met!!
