Great atmos***fear***. Enjoyed playing it and love the visuals. Great job on the sound design!

sharky3188 2025-04-07 14:20

I love the way the music grows more and more each stage you get to, a really great touch. Each new level reveal feels very satisfying with the light and audio. Good take for the theme. My only criticism is i think the collection could be something other than bees. Overall though great entry, spent longer on this than i expected i would.

manabreak 2025-04-07 14:22

This was captivating! Minor nitpicks: The electric boxes can be "activated" multiple times, so you lose crystals easily by accident if you tap E when standing near an electric box. Also, I felt that accidentally walking into the darkness ending the game is a bit unnecessary.

With all that out of the way, this was eerily satisfying. I especially loved how the rhythm formed into music as I progressed through the tunnels. Well done!

thisisspy 2025-04-07 14:28

Really love the dynamic music! The game's fun but I found a bug where if you press E next to the power box that is already powered, it's still going to take your crystals and nothing happens

sicosiber 2025-04-07 14:30

@thisisspy ah darn! I meant to fix that one, but found a bug on the minecart that made it unable to go past 75% of the tunnel so you have to walk the last 25% of it, totally forgot to fix that! Glad you enjoyed it though!

scott-r-howell 2025-04-07 14:54

Absolutely lovely! At first I was like "hm, are the drills making music?" and by the first couple sections I was engrossed, especially when I realized the minecart sound fits with it too, very neat, I got a 17 minute complete time, I loved it!

sicosiber 2025-04-07 15:29

@scott-r-howell So glad you liked it! The whole point of the game was just to play off of the human urge to find the end of a hallway or how deep a cave goes etc, because the game was built around that and not some cool mechanic I tried to make every little thing as satisfying as possible. First time making the reactive audio, but I'm so glad you liked it!

dnp 2025-04-07 15:30

Nice little game loop and good atmosphere. It did get annoying to spam press 'e'. I think it would be better if you picked up crystals simply by walking over them. I imagine that visiting a large patch of crystals and just hoovering them up would be very satisfying. I get that this would largely invalidate the bee boxes and break the balance though.

jared-saizdelamora 2025-04-07 17:05

Really super game, looks and sounds great and the controls were easy to pick up. Could definitely see this getting expanded upon. Great work!

sprill 2025-04-07 17:25

Awesome sounds that slowly come together to create a melody!

jazzydingo 2025-04-07 17:29

very cool! i would play this again i was hooked :) love art and sound, very cool loop and fact that music changes as you progress was totally unexpected and awesome, and everything sounds very tunnely! it was a little awkward at times spamming E, i felt like i didnt have enough fingers lol. I got to the electric box that cost 300 to activate and was curious about what happens if i just walk forward and died lol rip. awesome game!

knarf 2025-04-07 18:32

Well done ! good combination of 2d/3d and chill peaceful game :) I was a little bit greedy because I was planning to grind on a longer distance so maximized rentability and sitting a while becoming rich digging alone in a tunnel with bees and internet connection. I wish I could also do that IRL. Nice take on the theme BTW, for once being in a tunnel does not look so depressing. Sounds/music was cool/relaxing too, an good job adding music touches while discovering new zones. A little bit "easy" maybe but on another hand it's a chill way to start playing games after the jam :) few ideas for a "harder" mode: cut the ligts, limit capacity and life length of working bees (sic), limit minerals, fuel mechines etc ... An inspiring chill game :) Good job !

kukatoo 2025-04-07 22:06

The game is fun and the music is great! Even with bee boxes, I felt like I'm spamming 'E' way too much to pickup items. Maybe the game would have been better with faster bees or cheaper electrical boxes to minimize the amount of crystals I have to manually pick up. Either way, great entry.

khaotom 2025-04-07 22:40

i yearn for the mines! 26 minutes 3 seconds completion time.

ibandurist 2025-04-07 22:55

Great game with a fantastic atmosphere and dynamic music! Exploring the tunnel is super satisfying. The only downside is the frequent "E" pressing to collect crystals, which can get a bit tedious. Maybe automating that a bit would help. Overall, really solid work!

sicosiber 2025-04-07 23:23

@ibandurist yeahhhh, I had plans for the player to be able to buy upgrades for bee boxes so they automatically delivered the stored crystals to you, but I didn't have time. Glad you liked it! Did you reach the end of the tunnel? (if so, how long did it take you?)

ibandurist 2025-04-07 23:30

@sicosiber I lost track of time for about half an hour while playing your game!

sicosiber 2025-04-07 23:32

@ibandurist hahahah! That's awesome to hear! I feel like this was definitely the best I've ever done at a jam!

yvanor 2025-04-08 09:56

I had a lot of fun with this one ! The atmosphere was very effective, I really felt as a lonely adventurer in a mysterious tunnel. With the music coming up later, the cold atmosphere become more lively, it's nice.

I could see that you were lacking of time in the end, but we had a fun time thinking up about a twist ending where the wall was falling, showing another tunnel even deeper.

Very good work !

dywanix 2025-04-08 10:31

I really love atmosphere!

clare-chan1738 2025-04-08 13:58

Really cool aesthetic and the game felt more "alive" the further you got into the tunnel. Different parts of the bg music being added the further I went felt really nice and I loved the build up. Completed the game in around 15 minutes so definitely a solid game and made me want to finish it out. :)

pincushion 2025-04-08 16:14

This is great! It's pretty entertaining to collect all the loot, but what I like the most is the music progressing as I move further in. The train is really fast and fun to ride back and forth.

basic-eagles 2025-04-08 16:34

I'd took care about the ui and some postfx such as (noise, shadows, light, etc) Feels a bit lack of atmosphere like it really being somewhere in the depths. But anyways, that's a good concept!

atsh 2025-04-08 16:58

The soundscape in this was amazing! Really liked how it built up as you built more stuff and drive the mine cart. The graphics was nice and moody, and the idea of getting deeper into a mine is cool

I encountered a very nasty bug twice were I was stuck on the right side.. I think I spammed the E button to collect gems (BTW I think it was better to collect with the right hand). Eventually I figured out I can just put 3 drills on one gem spot, put some bees next to it, and let the game run for a while and collect the gems.. really wanted to see how it ended. I also experienced invisible bee hive. It was a bit annoying I couldn't activate what I wanted specifically - the default was to collect gems, and I had plenty

But all in all, one of the better games I played so far - without the bugs and maybe some more progression, could be the best!

ugly-robot 2025-04-08 19:14

What lovely music this game makes! The visuals are stunning - surprised to see this is a compo game! I love the effect the pixelated brick octagonal tunnel gives - enchanting! I did fudge myself by placing a bee box right next to the minecart (fat-fingered) making it inaccessible, so I wasn't able to reach the tunnel - but I still enjoyed playing! Great entry

captaindreamcast 2025-04-08 20:44

Made it to the end of the very deep tunnel! That final camera pan was super satisfying, to see all the drills and bees toiling away, felt great!

Musically the game was astonishing as well, the dynamically reactive music was such a great touch and matched perfectly with the rhythmic work of the mining tools. Graphically the game is beautiful as well. I love the 2D sprite in 3D world style, plus the design of the tunnel, crystal and tools gave it a very comfy feel. The lighting completed the game by perfectly setting the mood of working deep underground. All around a wonderful game, very well done!

sicosiber 2025-04-08 22:44

@captaindreamcast Thanks so much, that means a lot! Worked like crazy on this one and am hoping to do a little better ranking wise than last year. All in all though, I think it turned out really well and think this might just be my best game jam game yet!

the3rdhunter 2025-04-09 15:48

Very cool game. It looks great. The mix of 2d and 3d is cool, and the lighting gives it a cool vibe. The audio work is great. The echo and reverb on the sound effects give it a good sense of being in a tunnel, and the dynamic music is effective and well suited to the theme. Very cohesive overall. I liked the basic mechanics of the game, although one thing I would have liked would have been the ability to pick up items once they're deployed. On more than one occasion I accidentally deployed a bee box somewhere I didn't mean to, and then I was stuck with that choice. The ability to move the boxes, or maybe destroy them to recoup some of the cost would have been nice. Also some kind of indicator as to the area that a bee box covers would have been nice as well. The part of me that loves min-maxing wants more feedback so I can strategically place the bee boxes in optimal locations!

Great work! It's a very polished and well put together compo game! Way to go!!!

sicosiber 2025-04-09 17:53

@the3rdhunter thanks! yeah, ran out of time towards the end a little bit, but overall I do think it's one of my strongest submissions yet

plexium-nerd 2025-04-09 20:14

This is a very well done game. Impressive given the time limit! I really like the theme of bees gathering the crystals. And for whatever reason the sound the minecart makes is very pleasant. Good Work!

xen3x 2025-04-11 01:55

I wanted to keep playing but I lost all my progress after I walked into the darkness! The music was cool! I lost a couple of crystals to pressing E at the power generators. Great game!

ellaris 2025-04-11 11:54

Great game, I liked the visuals and all the sounds really played well together.

My only complaint would be about the bees, being too lazy (maybe they need an upgraded motivation to fly further or just gotta buy them a more expensive bee hive) not bringing the crystals to the player while being near them and being unable to move their box (especially if accidentally placing one).

sicosiber 2025-04-11 17:07

@ellaris yeah, I was planning to make upgrades for the beehives and a separate little creature that collected from the bee boxes and delivered it directly too you, but I ran out of time because I prioritized the dynamic music (still think that was a good call)

zshandi-krahn 2025-04-12 05:53

Great game, very unique! I agree that prioritizing the dynamic music was a good call! Would love to see this improved upon with those upgrades though, and a deeper tunnel maybe with different areas (and destroying the hives if accidentally placed). Really fun game though!

I also accidentally pressed space instead of E when getting in the cart, so ended up placing a hive and thus could no longer use the cart! (luckily realized right after that I was at the end already):

Also probably others had mentioned this, but at one point there was some kind of lighting error:

Lots of fun! Really liked this one. The minecart not only looks cool, but also adds my favorite section to the beat. The music is great and doesn't get old one bit, and the gameplay is simple and fun while running surprisingly well for how much is going on on screen. I accidentally purchased lights I'd already bought a few times which shouldn't probably be able to happen along with getting stuck in the wall when buying things but I'm sure you already know about those issues and none of them took away from the experience one bit. Overall I had a great time

designernap 2025-04-16 08:53

really loved this one. Tope marks in a few categories! Choice to use a sprite as the main character paid off nicely. The layered audio as the game gets more complete was lovely. I found it frustrating to have to collect ALL of the gems, it would have been nice if they floated towards you and collected. the placement of the hives was a bit off as I expected it to be where I was standing, not the direction I was facing and then could not move them after placement. All minor things though, a very satisfying and solid entry. Great work

oeuegha 2025-04-17 09:39

I like whole low-poly stylistics there but the game is too repetative without any development. I believe, making infinite loop progression was not the best idea for game with amount of content like that. Additionally, i noticed some bugs connected with player's controller: non-stoping walking forward after using shop, stucking player's model in the start (in the place in front of a shop), and few similiar bugs appeared after interacting with other surroundings). Gud luck!

sicosiber 2025-04-17 14:56

@oeuegha Thanks for the feedback! because it was a compo entry and not a jam entry, I didn't have a ton of time to add new elements, also the game isn't an infinite loop and does have an ending. I also finally figured out what was causing the shop bug, but didn't submit that fix because it's after the deadline and I don't think I'm supposed to do that. Anyway, thanks for playing it!

static-leap-studios 2025-04-22 22:20

This was very addicting! I reached the end with about 50 extra beehives, haha! Every once in a while my controls would get stuck, but jamming all the direction keys seemed to fix it. The next building I was wishing I could buy was something to deposit crystals from the behives to reduce running to each one.

epicgamefan 2025-04-23 01:56

Lost into the darkness! That was fun and so addicting. I liked how this came together, simple yet so fun.

Really awesome game! I had tons of fun - the gameplay is a bit idle-esque (and I enjoy playing idle games all day) and the graphics are sweet. The build-up of the music added a lot to the atmosphere and motivation to keep playing.

Great entry, glad I found your game!

sudocoffee 2025-04-26 00:07

This game is super stylish! It's awesome the way it starts with something that seems to be a sound effect, and then morphs into a soundtrack as you dig deeper. Lighting up each segment was pretty satisfying.

I didn't really find an optimal number of boxes to place per mine (probably could have timed it to figure something out). I started out grouping some of them together so it'd be faster to walk by and empty all the boxes at once, but it started to miss some crystals around the edge, so I had to backtrack and place extras.

I used the cart a little, but it didn't seem to save all that much time, since I spent most of my time walking past boxes anyway. Might be more useful if I were speed-running.

There were a handful of control related bugs (in particular I lost a lot of crystals accidentally re-buying power grids), but I think they've all been mentioned. Otherwise just some quality of life things, like a shortcut to get out of the menu, or key controls for both hands on the keyboard (I often used WASD with the left hand while rapid clicking E with the right hand).

It definitely scratched my automation itch. The game only had a couple levels of automation, but it feels like there's a lot of room for more mechanics you could add.

Overall awesome entry! My time:
