I love this - amazing work! Fnaf games are welcome!
Nice game! Although I felt the theme wasn't really too overt in this one (technically it should be possible to just evade the tax man forever), the concept felt fresh and the implementation was fun. Great voice acting by the way :D
Best game I have ever played)
The gameplay is dynamic and fresh. Voice acting on a whole another level!
Relatable
I found this one a bit frustrating to play - though perhaps that's my unfamiliarity with fnaf likes. The fact that only some of the stop the collector keys can be instantly accessed from the monitor is frustrating, and the speed at which the tax man comes at you makes the comparatively lengthy cutscenes annoying to deal with. I never felt safe typing, but never had anything to do when I wasn't. The audio was also either too quiet for me to hear even at full volume or not present for many key parts of the game. That all being said, the art style was nice to see - very BATIM, and what audio I did hear added to the experience. I just wish that I could have the UI react quickly enough to think that I might have a chance of commiting tax evasion, instead of UX making failure seem *inevitable*
Felt quite polished! The fear set it quite quickly as I started, which is great
This is a cool game. The graphics are nice and the gameplay works well. The audio is also really nice. Good job!
A very nice mix of FNaF and Typing of the Dead, great artstyle, very fun! I just wish the tutorial wasn't as frontloaded as it is right now.
Your art is so good ! Realy love it ;)
A really fun idea - probably made better for those familiar with FNAF. Spooky atmosphere with fun artwork!
We also made a run from the tax-man game - it's, uh, different.
I like this. My only issue with it has to be the difficulty. It is a little hard to find out what you are doing early on and having the taxman being really aggressive even early in the game makes it harder. Other than that, the graphics are great, and there is a decent atmosphere. I'm usually good at typing, but the game makes you tense even while typing the smallest of words. Good work.
There is a knocking sound when the tax-man trying to attack you through the window, which is a bit confusing as I thought I should hold the door when I had to hide under the desk. But once you get the hang of it, you will be able to evade the tax-man for a while, I think I made $8k+. A fun game overall.
First of all the menus feel very clean and nice, the font that you have used it is a really nice choice.
The art itself its amazing and the game mechanics are very creative and fun. (I love when the taxman appears jeje).
Also I love when you add random sounds like the clock and things like this.
Good job this is one of my favorite entries :)
I got caught immediately, I'm not cut out for tax fraud... Nice job!
ooh that jump scare gets me everytime! Reminds me of my own taxman! I like your game! A view thoughts:
- I like how the light at the bottom is not directly visable, so you have to pay attention to the glow - I found a glitch where two words where on the screen at the same time (on top of eachother) - I somehow never got the door holding mechanic to work. He still attacked everytime despite the door being closed
Still, I like your game! I think it is an interesting concept that requires speed, attention and reactiontime. well done!
@wouter52 You know, I really have no idea why the door might have not worked, but I guess there’s a way for the words to mess up. I guess it was just fate for you to get caught by the Tax Man >:]
@i1415 I'll try it again later, maybe I did it wrong then ^^" When the light turned yellow I pressed escape and then held A. The door would close and I kept holding A. Then the taxman would come to haunt me haha :P
@wouter52 When the light turns yellow, you should hide under the table by pressing S. I should’ve made it a bit clearer xd
Thanks!
Cool concept. I actually feel the tension a lot and the animations are nice. I just get my controls mixed up so often and the feedbacks telling me if I should hold the door or hide are a bit hard to spot. So I almost always end up getting caught ^^' I think having more polished audio feedbacks and maybe more visual feedbacks too (camera shaking, vignette effect...) could solve these problems for me :)
It's a nice entry, I had fun, thank you :D
A kind of FNAF but really cool and well done, the artstyle is really cool and the sound effects are great too!
Keep the good work guys because it looks really nice and well build!
Btw, put a Web Build the next time XD
Nice game-this reminds me a lot of *Welcome To The Game*, with a dash of *FNAF 4* for the door mechanic. The artstyle and audio design is effective at setting a generally tense mood without it being overbearing, and the use of sound for certain mechanics is a very nice touch. The take on the theme is an interesting one, and it's always nice to see horror-based entries. I feel like the game is a bit too harsh, since I did end up having where I got attacked and lost a few times within 15 seconds of starting typing. The first time around, I had only begun to notice the window sounds and pull back from the computer when I got attacked and hit with a game over. It might be good to have a minute or so of leeway before the Tax Man comes around to allow players to experiment with the controls and get prepared, and then have his aggressiveness increase as the player gets farther into the game. I do follow the sentiments of the above comment as well with a WebGL build. While I and others are fine with downloading files, others do not feel so comfortable, or do not have available storage, or have slow download speeds. Having a WebGL build can *really* help in being able to push your game during a jam and get more people to play it.
Overall, very nice work!
Doesn’t matter how many times I play the game, I always jump at the tax collector! Seriously, I am very easily startled, and this definitely takes advantage of that! I liked the music, and I think It sort of blends into the background as I pretend that the game is a type speed test. I liked his voice, very scary. Gameplay is simple but fun, I like the take on the theme. This one will stick out in my mind when I think back on ludem dare 50 in a few years!
This little games honestly proves that FNAF gameplay is scary itself, no matter the theme :D Really cool one, I played probably a little too long than I should, just trying to get as much money as I can (said this way it sounds like a game of life honestly). 5/5
Took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but I found the gameplay loop pretty cool after that. I have to agree with the comment above by @ehon its very reminiscent of FNAF.
Played it on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1456566145
@danial-jumagaliyev ❤️
Really nice game! I like how varied the gameplay was, and the looming tax man definitely raised the tension, resulting in me being absorbed into the game and raising the mood quite a lot! I was a bit unsure when he was knocking at my door and when he was knocking at someone else's door, I thought I had it under control but then I got jumpscared :joy: great job on this guys!
I really can't deal well with games being tense and scary(everything scares me xD), but it seems well done!
Amazing game atmosphere! It's getting really intense :) Good music and art style. Maybe displaying information about which button does what constantly on the screen would make it easier to use them. It takes a while to remember which button to press under stress :) Great job with the game.
Thanks for dropping my stream! Really enjoyed the game. It took a while for me to figure out what was going on, but had a lot fun once I got to grips with it. Well done!
Ahh, got really jump-scared the first time I was 'found' (or eaten??)! Enjoyed the challenge of typing while looking at the light and having to force yourself to not 'just finish' this word Very good visuals and audio too, it felt very polished
