Dammmn that was so much fun to play! Really liked the gameplay and the theme makes me wanna buy a baguette tomorrow to throw at people haha, pretty hard to not loose when they are at the door because I couldn't oriented the baguette at the door :< Really well done!

this game made me laugh really hard

Nice to see other entries made with PICO-8 :D I think the art + lore really added a lot to the experience.

My main bit of feedback is around the UI/controls, as the sliders weren't very interpretable (e.g., how does slider position relate to angle?). I think it would add a lot to draw an arrow from the player that rotated or stretched as you moved the sliders to give some rough idea of what direction (and speed) you'll throw the baguette at. I eventually got a feel for it, but having this extra visualization would help overcome that initial hurdle and make the game more accessible. :)

This was fun, although I wish there were a bit more to the gameplay. The sliders also could've probably been made better with the addition of a throw arc coming from the player. Other than those small gripes, the graphics were pleasing, and the idea of throwing baguettes at people is amusing. Overall solid game.

Screenshot 2022-04-05 171717.png 92 seconds. The art, theme and humour were particulaly good. Currently it feels like you can leave the height at zero and then get full range just by adjusting the power. It would be nice if there was more reason to use both sliders, maybe have the max range being much more limited if one slider is set to 0? Fun game, good job 🙂

highscore.png 123 seconds. At first I thought I had found the perfect angle and could just hold x and wipe out the entire revolution, but I was proved wrong as things began to ramp up. The art style is really cohesive and the 8-bit style goes well with the humorous tone of the game. The gameplay is simple but I got a good laugh out of this game. Overall great work!

Très bon jeu. Les graphismes sont cools, je m'amuse beaucoup c'est très fun.

So much fun, I love seeing Pico-8 games at Ludum Dare. I love the French Revolution as a setting, great humour too, let them eat baguettes. Beautiful Pico-8 pixel art. High five. :)

Good job on the cute characters. A simple game that never tries to do anything more, but what's there is very well executed. Love it!

This is a very funny premise! The game lulled into a false sense of security. I was initially pelting at max strength, but *inevitably* got what I _deserved_ for pelting the masses bagettes!

I noticed someone stole my record, so I'm here to steal it back. (161 seconds)

At some point I stopped throwing baggetes and I eat them instead... fun indeed, follow pico8 developer!

Why is that that every game made in Pico engine are great?

Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for feedback! If you’d like to revisit the play and commentary you can view the highlight at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1448039298

Entertaining silly little arcade game. *Excellent* sprite work.

I recall making a comment suggesting that some sort of joystick-based control might be nice? It's been two days, I don't remember the details, and can't find it quickly, sorry.

Super silly game. I love how it relates to the theme.

If you had more time, one idea you could have implemented was making the other pico-8 button do something. Like maybe change from baguettes to other food related items.

Thank you for adding me to the list =D This game is so cute and I really had fun playing it. It took me a few tries to have a better grasp of the controls and how high/far the projectiles travelled, but that was just me. The controls were simple and easy to understand. I love the mood of the game and your pixel art is spot on (I really want to make one of my puppy but I have no idea how to start lol).

Thank you for sharing you game on my Twitch stream (MsMiaChar). Here's the link to the video if you're interested in revisiting any real-time feedback (game begins around 01:20:00): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1446760516

you somehow made the game that we were thinking about (minus the whole french revolution thing) - but nailed the CGA theme and feel of old-school games. well done!

debone 2022-04-10 09:11

Thanks for your submission! I cracked at the characters and the baguette weapon, good job :D

hulien22 2022-04-10 09:21

Love the pixel art and overall humor! Controls are easy to learn but take a little bit to get used to, but that's a positive for an arcade game like this - I found that the technique that worked best for me was to keep height at the lowest, and then just use the left and right arrows to control power / direction..

Great work! Screenshot 2022-04-10 021852.png

Neat little game. Love the different characters and the particle effect is very satisfying.
