Really cool game, it was tricky to get used to but I started getting into a rhythym. Couldn't get the oil can though.

terabyte 2021-10-04 22:34

It's so fun! I kept laughing while playing this game

chikentear 2021-10-05 00:09

To hard for me but really fun game ! Well play !

sarah 2021-10-05 03:05

This is hilarious but also really difficult to get the hang of haha. But it is really fun \o/

Good job overall!! The graphics look good and the table looks really polished :3

nathant 2021-10-05 03:17

Cool physics puzzles. Loved the soundtrack. Controls were easy to confuse, but that is part of the fun no? I couldn't get past the bike, but had a blast. Nice job!

aquilart 2021-10-05 03:17

Fun game! In some levels I just held two keys and prayed that it could make it past. I would recommend maybe limiting the table legs to 180 degrees of rotation but I can guess that ya'll might have a reason for not doing that. Anyways fun game!

vitor-milioni 2021-10-05 03:23

@aquilart thanks a lot for the feedback! the reason we chose to not limit the table legs was firstly so that you could flip the table back if you got flipped, then i did hold down two keys and hoped and thought it was really funny so we ultimately decided to keep it in without limitations.

@sarah glad you enjoyed it! our artist really worked a lot for all the project being the solo artist, so that comment is really nice :p thanks a lot

@nathant i personally had a lot of fun testing it out and getting lost in the controls, so it makes me really happy you think so too! thanks for trying it out and for the nice words c:

frozenfire92 2021-10-05 03:30

This is a great entry! Lots of fun in a ridiculous over the top way. If you keep iterating on the controls and get more of the "that was a really cool launch" feel this could be a hit :)

ollieoa 2021-10-05 04:05

This game was pure, unadulterated, chaotic, physics-based fun. A perfect jam entry!

2021-10-05 04:07

a + left arrow combo is too strong on early levels. Low contrast on timer hits hards on some levels. Besides, I got hard stuck on kitchen level so a retry button would be nice. Furthermore, the music gets repetitive after a few levels. On the other hand I think the game concept is good, it gave me "getting over it" vibes. I think that exploring this gameplay on a more vertical and connected way on level design would be nice.

darsa 2021-10-05 04:21

I made it to the kitchen level but I couldn't go further :( ; the game is pretty entertaining and fun but it can also be super annoying when you can't finish a level. In terms of innovation it is definitely flawless; the sound track was pretty nice though. Overall this game is really fun. Good job!

vitor-milioni 2021-10-05 18:14

@frozenfire92 @ollieoa thanks so much for that, you guys made my day, glad you enjoyed it!

@jpcard thanks for the feedback, the retry button is there, it's just labeled as "restart level" but now that you said that i realize i didn't make it clear that ESC pauses the game, i'll do that on itch, regarding the music i could only get 16 bars in, in a future project i'll try for more so it hopefully isn't as repetitive. And the connected level and vertical gameplay is a great idea, but i think for a gamejam i'd still leave it like that because the loss of progress and frustration might be a bit of a mood killer xD but it's something i'll keep in mind if i work further on this, so thanks a lot for the suggestions!

@darsa thanks for the song mention, it was my first time doing anything related to music so i'm happy to hear that c: it's indeed very difficult towards the end xD sorry for the annoying bits and thanks for playing regardless, means a lot to us!

nebrazif 2021-10-05 19:22

Fun game, easy to understand but harder to master 😁

fractale 2021-10-05 20:43

I really love the game, I was block in the kitchen level. I laugh a lot, thank you

zain 2021-10-05 22:26

I love how chaotically fun this game is and it made me laugh, awesome entry!

jake-summer 2021-10-06 01:03

this game is so fun and chaotic! its hilarious! love the vector art!

bamberga 2021-10-06 07:51

I enjoyed it a lot but i thought the music was too intense for the sort of experience at hand

as-you-like-101 2021-10-06 08:31

cool game i like it the game play a letile bit confusing but is so fun to play for me good job

as-you-like-101 2021-10-06 08:32

cool game i like it the game play a letile bit confusing but i fell but is so fun to play for me good job

bjornstahl 2021-10-06 08:32

This was really awesome, I can definitely see this as something to speedrun, felt like a mix between qwop and getting over it. Up until the kitchen level the game is very easy, just hold down the keys to rotate the legs as wheels and you will get to the end very fast. Then I couldn't get past the stove :D

vphyre 2021-10-06 16:03

Abraços e tudo de bom para vocês!

vitor-milioni 2021-10-06 18:32

@bjornstahl thanks a lot for the feedback, i love speedruns and if someone ended up speedrunning this i would be over the moon xD sorry about the sudden increase in difficulty, there were supposed to have a bit more levels between that and the prior one but we didn't have the time unfortunately, anyway thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback, hope you enjoyed!

glen-chang 2021-10-07 06:03

This was awesome. Till I got stuck between the fridge and the sink. It would be nice to have reset button that would get you back to the start to start over. Really impressed by how innovative this game was. Never seen anything like it.

glen-chang 2021-10-07 06:25

OMG I finally reached the end. This was tough. lol. I would say too frustrating to really play for a long time. but it was fun when you start getting muscle memory to figure it out.

vitor-milioni 2021-10-07 07:09

@glen-chang hey thanks a lot for taking the time to finish it! i'm glad you enjoyed it, sorry about the frustrations xD thanks for the feedback as well, always glad to hear your opinions! Regarding the reset button, it's actually on the pause menu, it's labeled as "restart level", i'll include that on the description of the game to make it clearer

domin77 2021-10-07 17:20

A very fun game, it took me a while to synchronize both legs, but I managed it in the end . Good job guys.

ibrahim-oezhan 2021-10-07 18:45

Nice game.

mhorth 2021-10-07 22:08

Who else knows this pain hahahah Screenshot 2021-10-07 172745.png

I was definitely having a lot of fun and cursing you devs at the same time while playing this. Such intentionally bad controls that it was hilarious to see how clumsy the table was.

100th-coin 2021-10-07 22:26

I love the nontraditional movement! It reminds me a lot of QWOP, or several other games made by Bennet Foddy. I did unfortunately get stuck, and I don't know if there's a way to reset a room:

LD_Sfotlock.PNG

In any case, it's a really original idea, and I love it! Great work.

vitor-milioni 2021-10-08 03:26

@mhorth haha that is my nemesis as well, thanks a lot, hope you enjoyed!

@100th-coin Glad you liked it! You can restart the level on the pause menu, just press esc and select "restart level". I just recently updated that on the description to make it clearer, apparently a lot of people missed that cause it's kinda hidden so i tried to make it a bit more easy to find at least. Thanks a lot for the feedback c:

lychee 2021-10-08 05:51

Haha loved it, like a weird getting over it/qwop hybrid. Could not for the life of me get past the one with the stop sign and the bicycle but I thought the game definitely accomplished what you set out to do xD

lisek-gagatek 2021-10-08 21:53

Looks like something that could go viral during golden era of flash games. It was super irritating to play, but I guess that was the main point, so... good job xd I gave up in the level with STOP sign after trying to beat it for like 10 minutes with no progress, but overall it was quite fun.

2021-10-08 21:56

lol so fun! love this game

chillertyp 2021-10-09 14:47

The controls are just as bad as in our game! XD

flying-basement-studio 2021-10-09 14:50

The game was fun even though sometimes extremely frustrating (which is normal for this kind of game). Sometimes the controls were little confusing when I flipped the table the other way around (for this case it might be good to have slightly different legs so it is easier to differentiate them).

apples-mmmmmmmm 2021-10-12 00:12

Got stuck between the stop sign and the statue. Don't know how many levels there are, but I imagine too many for me to complete haha. Nice job on the entry, it seems like a pretty good game, just not really for me unfortunately. Maybe I'd be able to get a better handle on the controls if I could use thumbsticks for the rotation of each leg, and maybe even have them be different colors to help my brain distinguish the movements, though struggling to overcome that is probably half the fun for a lot of people. Considering how many people got into speedrunning Getting Over it With Bennet Foddy, I imagine a lot of people would enjoy this as well.

animawish 2021-10-12 05:55

neat game! nice difficulty curve, that oven might as well have been mount everest! If i have one quibble it's that i lost track of which leg was which constantly, but I guess that's part of the challenge!

vitor-milioni 2021-10-12 07:14

@flying-basement-studio @apples-mmmmmmmm thanks a lot for the feedback! both the thumbstick support and the different leg visuals are great sugestions! I will definately keep them in mind to try and implement them if i get to do any updates on this in the near future, thanks a lot for taking the time to play and share your toughts, much love!

Everyone else thanks a lot for the kind words, as much as feedback is important i do also love just hearing if you had fun with the game and where you were stuck as well, hope you had at least a bit of fun xD

atmospherium 2021-10-12 13:58

I'm really bad at being a table. But I think this table is also bad at being a table.

Really fun and frustrating at the same time, reminds me a lot of QWOP in that regard. Nice art and gameplay, everything felt varied and gave a new challenge on each screen. Not that I was good enough to get to all the screens. Great work!

mascoll 2021-10-12 14:13

Amazingly frustrating! Really great game and fun take on the theme. So many little evil details! From the beautifully anoying music to the seemingly carefully calculated little evil measurements. Loved hating it! Great job!!!

alexthehuman2 2021-10-12 14:22

It was fascinating to find out a way to get out of a spot where you can get stuck, good job on polishing that to the point where you can actually escape out of most spot that will get you appeared to be stuck. The BGM taunts me every time I go into a spot that was troubling to get out of, so that was an absolute wonder listening while being frustrated. I did manage to finish the game despite I'm kinda bad at it, took me almost 20m so that was a really long playtime as well!

The main issue I have with the game is how it's really difficult to pinpoint which leg you're spinning with which control. I think you've already mentioned updating leg visuals so kudos on that.

p.s. Why is the table already assembled when you escape the box

vitor-milioni 2021-10-13 20:23

@mascoll haha we did try to make every obstacle just a tiny bit taller than the last one, the stove is the highest we got to make where it was still consistently overcomable xD thanks a lot for playing, we welcome all the well intentioned hate xD

@alexthehuman2 thanks a lot for the comment, specially thanks for the mention on the soundtrack, it was my first time doing sound for a game so i wasn't so sure of myself there :p also the table assembled itself so it could escape, talk about willpower huh? but as you can see, it didn't assemble itself very well xD

honey-pony 2021-10-19 19:59

I think it's instructive to compare this game pretty directly to Getting Over It. I don't know if it's directly inspired by Getting Over It, or if you've played Getting Over It, but comparing the two games is worthwhile, I think.

In particular, they are both based on the core concept of managing finicky physics in order to progress through a level. But there is one important difference, which is that Getting Over It has extremely intuitive controls, and all the difficulty comes from the physics. But this game has both unintuitive controls and finicky physics.

That is to say--almost every time I tried to do something, I would end up rotating the legs the wrong way. I would also often rotate the wrong leg. This isn't a case of me failing to master the physics--it's a case of me failing to master the controls. The buttons I pushed very rarely corresponded to what I thought they would do. I would think I was rotating a particular leg clockwise, and I ended up actually pushing the button that rotated the other leg counterclockwise. I am mostly interested in pointing out that this kind of control-based difficulty is distinct from the purely physics-based difficult in Getting Over It. (Although, I think it may be a lot more similar to e.g. QWOP).

Now, I think this is actually probably a good thing. The Getting Over It formula works for Getting Over It, but exploring different kinds of frustrating gameplay--such as gameplay where the controls themselves are difficult to perform--is a lot more novel then just making a game with the exact same frustrations as Getting Over It. I just think it is worth making sure that you're aware that your game uses a different kind of frustration mechanic, and making sure that your level design and game design accomplishes what you want.

It is interesting, for example, that a lot of the gameplay in this game is easier to do by simply holding two buttons down then by trying to do it with any strategy or precision. This is a fine thing to have in your game design. But if your goal was for the first few levels to require any real mastery of the controls, that goal was not quite met, I think.

One other comment: I find that I really like the graphics and the level design in this game. When I reach a screen, I never know exactly what the obstacles are going to be, because the scene looks like just a normal drawing. But then the obstacles end up being pretty easy to understand as soon as I run into them, and the cleverness of the level design starts to become more obvious as I try to navigate around the obstacles.

vitor-milioni 2021-10-19 20:46

@honey-pony Oh wow, thank you so so much for the detailed feedback, that helps me a lot to grow as a developer. Loved the points you bring up and i'd like to share a bit of the toughts were at the time. I loved games like Getting Over It and Jump King, but the thing is the frustration there is sometimes unbearable, you lose waaay to much progress at a time, so i wanted an experience of frustration that was just for a given scene, to make the payoff of overcoming obstacles greater, because you can celebrate without worrying about having to do it again if you fall further along the game.

The flying around at the begining is intentional! I tought it was super fun to just spin legs and see where the table goes, and i think not demanding anything from a regular player would make it a more fun experience overall for everybody, because if you just wanna flail about you can still enjoy the game for what it is and get past several scenes, but later in the game we limit this by putting obstacles above as well, such as shelves and lamps.

We still wanted to make sure to reward players who took the time to learn the controls, because as you said they are not as intuitive xD so the idea of a timer came about, but that would punish people and would not be cool, so instead we decided that the timer should go up, and not down. That way you can play in your own pace, but for people who, much like me, love speedrunning, the game itself encourages you to do so!

Thanks a lot for the comment and taking the time to play, i hope you had fun! Any feedback means a lot to me, but one as detailed as that and from someone who made a game i liked so much even more so c:
