Android developers represent! How did you like working with Corona? Was this your first time with it?

tehskull 2012-08-28 05:47

This is the second game I've put out, but neither of them I'm happy with. Corona is like the easiest thing I've ever used for game design.

tehskull 2012-08-28 05:57

Let me clarify, I'm not happy with them because they were both for LDs that I ran out of time on.

QR Code for fellow Droiders: http://goo.gl/Fu3i1
Nice idea, I would be glad to play more polished version.

juaxix 2012-08-28 19:51

Dont leave it!

devwouter 2012-08-28 20:12

No android

willx 2012-08-28 20:38

Android?

goerp 2012-08-28 20:49

Looked good, and playing on a touchscreen was a change. I did feel uncomfortable bypassing the official app channel and it was buggy. Music was good as w ell. I am curious about corona now.

wwinding of isaac
ps: if this was made for the andriod shouldent you put it in the droid shop?

tehskull 2012-08-28 20:55

To those saying I should put it in the shop, if you want to provide me with the $200 or so to buy Corona SDK and the Google Play fees, I totally will put it in the shop.

pythong 2012-08-28 21:13

no android :(

imef 2012-08-28 21:41

A shame it's on android. I would have loved playing that!

paulsb 2012-08-28 21:44

Heh - nice idea but I'm not sure how to do good: each time the numbers eventually careered off into oblivion as did my hurricane into the abyss!

guardian_bob 2012-08-28 21:48

As you said unfinished. Interesting concept.

mottmatt 2012-08-28 23:01

No android platform available for testing.

desiquintans 2012-08-29 04:37

I don't own an Android product :(

crushenator 2012-08-30 00:50

Can you recommend how one can get stared in Android development? I can program in Java so I wouldn't mind knowing about tutorials, books etc.

cobrajs 2012-08-30 01:44

Wasn't quite sure what was going on. It would just either get really small or shoot off the screen. Music was great, though.

luck-of-the-day-games 2012-08-30 10:07

Can't get it to run

tehskull 2012-08-30 18:03

@Crushenator Honestly, I didn't use any Java in the making of this game. Purely Lua via the Corona SDK. I chose that SDK for its ease of use and crossplatform abilities. I do intend on learning Java for making Android games, but I think I'll keep Corona in my skillset, especially for time-limited events like game jams.

aquasheep 2012-08-30 23:56

I like the idea, and the music was really good. The controls, however, were unreliable for me, and before long I would be off the map, even at slow speeds. I think you just need to readjust the map size and make the controls more responsive, and you've got a fun, cool, little game.

hgcummings 2012-09-02 17:33

Interesting concept but needs a bit more work to be playable. Having sufficient control to aim for arrows was pretty muble. Pressing the letters H and C seemed to make a difference, but I'm assuming they're a debugging tool rather than part of the gameplay. The music was nice.

davedobson 2012-09-03 05:28

I'd play this, but I don't have an Android phone. If the HTML5 version comes out, I'll give it a whirl - looks cool.

demonpants 2012-09-11 20:00

Looks gorgeous! Unfortunately I have no Android device to test on.

davidwparker 2012-09-15 00:25

For something like this, if you do an Android one, you should also put out a video for people to see the gameplay.
