| Apr 20 17:03:34 | Fillmore's Island | ♥ 4 | What a lovely puzzle game. I recorded myself playing to provide as much feedback as possible, but before we get to that, I just wanted to say how great the level design is. I did things "out of order" without even realizing it, and instead of thinking "wow, this game is punishing" I thought "woah, this game has momentum mechanics! This is rad." The video will say way more than text can, but every time I ran into an issue, the game immediately had a solution. Softlocked the drone? there's a teleport-drone-button. I have no idea where I'm going? The camera just zoomed out after that last pickup, and now I know where I'm going. I've been crunching the numbers, and, yes, (it's true), you've just won the **Perfectly Timed Anti-Softlock Measure** award! PerfectlyTimedAntiSoftlock.png https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHDOpCqEftc | |
| Apr 20 17:28:59 | 25m 25s | Highest in the world | ♥ 2 | My world record run was tragically ruined by 0.1 seconds, but we take what we can get. Something I don't think I have truly appreciated with your games is the fact that they all run on 90's hardware. You're not working with a Unity3D-esque engine, or anything, which makes all of your games WAY more impressive than they appear. It's been a long time coming, but I'm awarding you with the **Actually runs on a SEGA Dreamcast** award. ActuallyRunsOnASEGADreamcast.png And of course, here's the video I recorded to provide as much feedback as possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBi1W3vV7C4 |
| Apr 20 18:14:10 | 45m 11s | Signal-flag Shuffle | ♥ 2 | It took me a while to figure out what the objective was and how to make it happen, but once it clicked, my goodness! What a fun and tricky block stacking game. P.S. those boxes are brutal. I know it would change the meta in a dramatic way, but I wonder how much the game changes if the boxes didn't exist. (or if they cleared like the flags, but without triggering the objective checks) Destroying two columns of garbage simultaneously with two bombs is quite the dopamine rush, so much so that you've just won the **Most satisfying bomb** award. MostSatisfyingBomb.png And of course, here's my recorded gameplay to provide extra feedback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-uHLsHW6y0 |
| Apr 20 19:22:57 | 1h 08m | Remote Mars Raider | ♥ 1 | I like the challenge of managing both Dave and "you" simultaneously. That being said, actually moving Dave is a bit clunky and cumbersome. Even after memorizing the commands, it's hard to gauge if I need a mighty leap, or if the default jump will get me to where I'm trying to go. I think the long hallways could benefit from a "rerun most recent command" button. Check it out! You just won the **World's Hardest Dance-Dance-Revolution** award! WorldsHardestDDR.png Here's my recorded gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whFLG9dPWBw |
| Apr 21 16:20:51 | 20h 57m | Operation Alien Translation | ♥ 8 | That obviously means "Capital Eyeball MegaQuestion Rocket Beak"... or perhaps I'm mixing up my lies again... What a unique experience. I love how in my first playthrough I instantly forgot the words I created seconds ago. After a meeting with my alien counsel, we have unanimously decided to award you with the **Open to Interpretation** award. As a top linguist yourself, there's no doubt you know exactly what this means. OpenToInterpretation.png And of course, my video playthrough, for maximum feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6oe4bM07fQ |
| Apr 21 17:25:15 | 1h 04m | Chomp Radio | ♥ 2 | The dialogue in this game is beautiful. Every character having a unique means of contacting you, (by finding your number in the bathroom, or by suddenly gaining access because you blasted the thing blocking their signal) is a wonderful recurring joke, and you stuck the landing with every single one. I'll admit, I was able to stick with the default turret and I pretty much obtained the "win the game button" by clicking the mouse with my 30 or so guns. I think the game could benefit from either limiting how many of those you can simultaneously wield, or increase the price with each turret you have. If the game forced variety on the player's back, I think it could be more interesting. On top of the hundreds of incomming transmission and phone calls, you've just won the **Mr. Popular** award. And just look how happy Snake is to pose for the photo. MrPopular.png Here's my recorded gameplay, for maximum feedbackitude: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CCY-PkrnV8 |
| Apr 21 17:47:48 | 22m 33s | πΆγ € | ♥ 1 | As always, this was a delightful, cute, and fun game. I like how all the various things you can pick up have their own "attack patterns" to them. The story was also really funny, having Temupra Chan break into Thyoi's house and deciding to destroy everything. Do I hear boss fight music right now? Why- it must be because you've just won the **Most unexpected boss fight** award! MostUnexpectedBossFight.png Here's my recorded gameplay to give you as much feedback as possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JorkIKCkXFM |
| Apr 21 18:53:52 | 1h 06m | π¦βπ§ | ♥ 1 | Just a heads up, it took me like five minutes to figure out how to leave the hub area for the first time, so if you watch my gameplay footage, just know that I'm dumb. First things first, the graphics are incredible. The fish eye (?) perspective gives this game a really unique appearance, and the smooth vector designs of the objects look rad. The sound effects are also great. I think it would be cool if the "pop" sounds of the projectiles hitting something had stereo audio. I love the concept, but I feel like I had no sense of direction. The entire game I was looking for a win condition, and I'm just not sure if one exists. Also entirely not your fault, but I accidentally hit CTRL + W on multiple occasions, closing the tab in firefox and losing my progress. I think I rest my pinky on the CTRL button when using WASD, so I unintentionally press it often. In the style of the old-ludum dare website, I'm awarding you with the **Coolest Perspective** award: CoolestPerspective.png Here's my gameplay footage to give extra feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQJOt0B_yJk |
| Apr 21 23:45:42 | 4h 51m | Trainsmission | ♥ 3 | I love the roster of characters you have here. Lots of fun designs, and the story was pretty cool. I'm not sure if the plasma-smoke has any indication of it appearing, and it also removed my ability to select units inside it, which made it feel a bit "unfair" at times, when it was significantly out of my control whether I survived an enemy approaching or not. After pulling out the abacus, I can confidently state that this game has won the **Wow, that's a large cast of cool characters** award. ThatsALottoCharacters.png I recorded myself playing to provide as much feedback as possible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsKXTEx97yQ |
| Apr 22 00:31:20 | 45m 38s | Cadence of Glob | ♥ 3 | This is the most wholesome game I have every played during a ludum dare. The character designs are so cute, and the fun space facts were genuinely fun. I have bestowed upon Glob the greatest gift humanity could offer, and I shall bestow a similar gift unto you. The **Greatest Ball** award. Some might say this is lazy award design, but I know you're above that. Thanks. BestBall.png Unfortunately, the award cannot be bounced. It's probably fragile. Here's my recorded playthrough (to provide maximum feedback), but feel free to skip free to skip to 1:15, as the game took a while to load... and I recorded that too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvRI01aJ2Hs |
| Apr 22 00:56:29 | 25m 09s | i love you, too | ♥ 2 | I appreciate how generous you were with the signals not needing to be entirely in sync. I'm curious to know how the "closeness" of the two waves was determined, it seems really complicated! It's shocking how much fun I had simply turning dials. So much so, that I'm giving you the **It's Shocking How Much Fun I Had Turning Dials** award! MostImpressiveGameAboutTurningKnobs.png Here's my recorded playthrough to provide maximum feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tj8Gkwk-wE |
| Apr 22 16:39:02 | 15h 42m | Pulse | ♥ 2 | It took me a minute to figure everything out (bonus damage for shooting out of a ring, the rings triggering other rings...) but wow, once I figured it all out, this game really grew on me. The way your mistakes multiply is *brutal* in the best possible way. I love it. I told a friend, who told a friend, who told a friend, who told me that you just won the **Feedback Loop** award! FeedbackLoop.png Here's my recorded playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5006hZljkw |
| Apr 22 17:04:34 | 25m 32s | Follow It | ♥ 2 | Cool setting! I wish the options had more than a simple "win/lose" outcome. It would be neat to have some more branching paths, perhaps ambiguous endings? I'll admit, I deliberately tried running backwards and away from the lights just to see what would happen, and you got me. I was expecting to fall off a plane, but you foresaw my complete idiocy and added walls. Bravo! I have no choice but to reward you the **Prevented 100th Coin From Being An Idiot** award. PreventedMyIdiocy.png Not every developer is lucky enough to earn this. And here's my recorded playthrough to provide as much feedback as possible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkXXq4CwCEU |
| Apr 24 18:58:36 | 49h 54m | Roadkill junction | ♥ 1 | Okay, this was a lot of fun. I mention it in my recorded playthrough, but I never really got the hang of the traffic signaling. I always wanted the direction to be the opposite of what it actually is. I goofed around a bit after the recording and realized you can just... leave the arena by jumping over the walls. Obviously your health depleting over time prevents this from being a viable strategy, but you can certainly go somewhere unintended before the game starts. After successfully directing a dozen or so drivers to into other drivers, you can't help but wonder if the zombies attacking you were just people you killed moments ago. I'm giving you the **Undead End** award. UndeadEnd.png And here's the recorded gameplay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDyZlm6Dzp8 |
| Apr 24 19:26:31 | 27m 55s | Forlornicon - Shoopert's Weird Dream | ♥ 1 | I do enjoy dungeon crawling, and I like the upgrades you came up with. As Mekuire pointed out, the camera is a bit rough, making those 90 degree turns instantly. The enemy designs were cool, both mechanically and visually. I like how some enemies have lots of range, or they slide around like that dragon. I think this game could have benefited from a defined win condition. I looped around to room 1 again, but it's not like a menu popped up saying "You Won!"... I just got to keep going until I decided to stop. Or perhaps there is a win condition and I didn't make it there yet. Here's my recorded playthrough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jlFVCXMf8k |

I'm going to open this up by giving you the **TEXTure award**. TEXTureAward.png It's going to be impossible to talk about this game without talking about how cool it looks. I've never seen anything like it, and I know this is going to be something I think about far in the future. The voice acting is great, and the whispering is... unsettling at times... HA! I love the poem at the end. I recorded myself playing to provide as much feedback as possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHHS9Vbz6xI |
| Apr 25 16:45:10 | 20h 57m | Satellite Days | ♥ 1 | I love it. The upgrades were a pleasant surprise, and the increasing difficulty of each stage had a very natural difficulty curve. With my incredible power of subtle-gradient-detection, I noticed the satellite dish was not just a solid color, but very subtly getting brighter towards the center of the dish. I'm awarding you the **Incredibly Subtle Gradient** award, as proof of your background art asset mastery. IncrediblySubtleGradient.png Here's my recorded playthrough to provide the ultimate feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ougKBLdu_GA |
| Apr 25 17:36:50 | 51m 40s | Lighthouse Diaries | ♥ 3 | You caught me off guard last Ludum Dare with the rap, and wow you did it again. It's not even a contest, you win the **Best Rap of Ludum Dare 59** award. Easily. BestRap.png I really liked the difficulty curve being explained through the story as the waters were harsher in ye olden days. What a clever way to weave the story and gameplay! I recorded myself playing to provide as much feedback as possible. Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjICH4nUOVk |
| Apr 25 18:35:54 | 59m 04s | Noise Shelter | ♥ 1 | Woah. This is a seriously impressive Compo entry. There's a lot of rooms with their own interesting puzzles. I was a bit confused why the "signal rooms" (?) were randomly selected from a pool of rooms, instead of each spot having a unique room. It makes me wonder if I didn't see any rooms due to RNG. I will also say, I wish it didn't just close on its own. If it had a little "press ESC to close" that would have been a lot better. I probably only feel this way because I was recording though, and the "desktop jumpscare" would be a lot less annoying if I wasn't suddenly recording a discord chat, my downloads folder, and my messy desktop. After conferring with the eldritch, we've all agreed that you have won the **Abstract Horrors From Beyond My Nightmares** award! AbstractHorrors.png Here's my recorded playthrough to provide you with a lot of feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJTV8f50uMA |
| Apr 26 17:25:25 | 22h 49m | Human in the middle | ♥ 1 | Brilliant. Once upon a time, a friend and I learned morse code as a bit, but that was ten years ago, and as it turns out- unlike riding a bicycle, you can absolutely forget the entirety of morse code. That being said, this game can unironically be a tool to learn morse code, making this the winner of the **Greatest Edutainment Game of LD59** award! Edutainment.png There were times where I attempted to match the cadence of the message coming through, and the next character wouldn't start in time, causing me to continue adding to the current character. (perhaps I was a frame or two early...) I think this game could benefit from some sort hand holding, where if the current letter has all of the inputs complete, the player is sending the correct signal ('.' or '-') for the first pip of the following letter, and there's less than 0.2 seconds until the next letter should begin, then just allow the player to start the next letter instead of ruining the current message. I get that this style of hand holding makes the game a bit less "hardcore", but it would go a long way in terms of user experience. I recorded my playthrough to provide maximum feedback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dwoKu5N5xw |
| Apr 26 17:45:46 | 20m 21s | Blipp | ♥ 2 | This was delightful! The ways the scenes interact was really creative. I love how the two characters are able to benefit each other despite being far away. There's some really good metaphorical meaning that can be derived from that, about how positively relationships can affect people even when they are apart. Honestly, such great story telling, and in such a unique presentation. I'm giving this game the **Coolest Love Story of LD59** award. CoolestLoveStory.png I recorded myself playing to provide as much feedback as possible. Cheers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sBdZf9TjLk |
