Oct 1 21:12:11 Rootin' Tootin' Zombie Shootin' ♥ 2 🐬
Oct 2 12:57:42 15h 45m Depths of Eonar ♥ 1 Cool! I'm glad that I stuck around to find the snake boss :D The part with the ladders and the spikes below was pretty difficult I think. But not too difficult. The music was pretty good for the menu screen, but somehow I think the gameplay itself deserved something more upbeat. Maybe even diffrent versions for the outside world, the cassle and the depths (and maybe even in the boss area) I love you made the thumbnail something resembling a game cardridge. That is very clever. I'm not a fan of acctually installing LD games to be honest. I would prefer a portable version. I the LD page you talk about a HTML version, but I could not find that ^^" The outside area could have used some secret area above the treetops I think :D I wonder what the story behind this game is, why is this character going to the depths to fight a giant snake? - Edit: I found the HTML version. Its on the LD page itself, I'm still not used to that haha - Edit 2: It seems that ratings are still disabled. I'll come back to rate :-)
Oct 2 13:12:05 14m 23s MineRaider - LD54 ♥ 1 Fun little game! I teaches how not to be greedy ^^" One run I found a diamond all the way back into a coredor. Made two mistakes: 1: it was too far 2: i forgot to throw down torches. Once I picked up the diamond, the screen went pitchblack ^^" One think I did not understand: I went back to the elevator (starting position), but I did not know what to do next. Then the lava appeared... Did I need to push a button once back? This game could also use some background music in my opinion. The sound effects were pretty good! I'll come back to rate your game. It seems that rating games is still disables until tomorrow :-)
Oct 2 13:34:27 22m 22s Burden Dungeon ♥ 1 Took me a few tries until I noticed the monster comming to the light. First it did not make a sound when approachting ^^" I almost fell out of my chair when discovering it ^^" Looking at the screenshots, I can see that I did not make it that far yet. Although I had fun playing your game, I did not go very far. I like the graphics. I think that is impressive for a compo game. I did, however, think there should have been some background music. Right now its mostly ambient music. Well done! I see that this is your first 3D title, or am I mistaken? I'll come back to rate, once ratings are opened.
Oct 2 14:20:21 45m 54s The Rock ♥ 1 I had fun playing yours! I played it all the way through :-) Once learning that the rock needed to be destroyed because of greedy reasons, I really hoped there would be some sort of alternative ending where the mayor would get banished or something ^^" I really laughed about the father & son fishing, I like this quirky kind of humour 😆 The graphics are acctually pretty fun! There is a coherent styling to it, and I think that is the most important when rating graphics. (so, no pixel art mixed with high detail renders for instance) I think you did a great job! Once ratings open, I'll make sure to revisit yours to rate it :-)
Oct 3 10:14:00 19h 53m Pool Frog ♥ 1 What a cute litte game! I always find it impressive how people like you are able to create fun games with such severe limitations! Well done I like how you don't instantly die when in the water. The player gets a chance to find a safe place.
Oct 3 10:55:25 41m 25s Voynich Lecture ♥ 2 This felt very real. Trying to understand somethink, and then failing the test spectacularly 😆 The video could use some sound when the little man in the corner was talking. Just some muffled sims-speak could do just as well. That would give the game a bit more polish I think :-) Congratz on your first LD entry btw!
Oct 3 11:50:51 55m 26s Bullfrog Burnie ♥ 2 What a fun little game this is! I like how things are explained in-game instead of providing a tutorial. Also, the checkpoint system is very well done and a welcome addition to an LD game. The whole thing feels polished. I see that this is your first LD entry. Congratz! One question: what engine did you use? 😄
Oct 3 19:49:16 7h 58m Mad Dash Moving Inc. ♥ 2 Fun little game! First I was confused why the rows did not clear. But then I read the backstory and it all made sense! I like your game, its easy to pick up, but hard to master. Because the lines do not clear, you have to play a diffrent strategy, than with regular tetris The music and sound effects are very well done!
Oct 4 18:39:49 22h 50m Bitter Retirement ♥ 1 Congratz on your first LD entry! Some thoughts: - I like how there is an end goal to this. The gameplay itself felt a bit stale at a certain point, but because there was a counter, I knew when to expect the next part of the game: retiring - The game could use some sound effects. Even simple bleep and bloop sounds really makes a diffrence in the polishing. This site could be useful for that: https://sfxr.me/ - There should be a punishment for standing directly below the flying angels. Now I could walk right under them and throw the box. Sometimes the box would fly all over the place, which was funny, but mostly I succeeded into throwing it into the ocean. - The gameplay could have been a bit more immersive by providing diffrent things to throw into the ocean. Like furnature or other objects. Just to spice it up a bit :-) Great entry overall, you can be proud!
Oct 4 19:07:22 27m 33s Terminal Velocity ♥ 2 I like your game! It had a clear and goal, which made me go longer than I usually do in an LD entry. I had to see what happened when I won, a BSOD ofcourse :D I like how the computer has special moves like file transfer and bit streams. Sometimes a lot of pink bits would come all at once. This game uses a lot of RNG I think? Great entry! I like the sound effects a lot and the graphics are well done! I don't know if I found any easter eggs. Maybe you could share them with us after the ranking is done? I tried looking for them
Oct 5 18:07:06 22h 59m Pong Begrenzt ♥ 2 Fun little game! First I thought I needed a friend to play, but controlling both paddles is much easier :p I like the little powerups, they give a bit more purpose to the game. It makes me feel of the good old days where we would stare at the DVD logo until it hit the corner ^^"
Oct 5 18:20:26 13m 20s Idol Hands ♥ 3 Cool! I loved the level where you needed to think outside the box (@LucaVazz, investigate the right side of the level). Took me a while until I figured that one out ^^ The controls felt a bit spongy, maybe those could have been smoother by allowing the player to hold a key down. Now I needed to press the arrows multiple times to go to another side of the room. I love the end cinematic! How much time did that take? 😁 The music really fits to the theme of the game. And the character creator was fun 😆 First I thought it was broken, but then I was like "nooooo they did not", and then the ok button gave it away 🤣
Oct 5 18:33:57 13m 31s Fill the crates ! ♥ 0 Congratz on your first LD entry! I have some thoughts about your game: - I like the backstory of the game. It gives a sense of purpose - This game could really use a soundtrack, or at least some sound effects. A tool like this is really easy to quickly make some bleep and bloop sounds and it really adds to the game: https://sfxr.me/ - A visual grid where the piece would go when you let loose of the mouse button would have been nice. Sometimes the piece would snap somewhere, where I did not want it to go. When there is an overlapping piece there, then it is a bit more hard to fix - A "Next" button would have been nice, or tighther timers. Now I had situations where I needed to wait until the time was over - Rotating pieces with for instance right mouse button would be a cool addition! But I can imagine that the game would become less hard, which could disrupt the balancing 🤔 I think you did a great job!
Oct 5 18:43:45 9m 48s The Limited - club ♥ 2 What a fun game! I was not prepared for those dancemoves haha :P Those minigames are impressive. Great job! Also the sound design is very well done. With the muffled version for when you're not on the dance floor inself for instance. The graphics fit nicely together
Oct 5 18:48:41 4m 56s Get The Pumpkin! ♥ 1 I (jump) got (jmp) the (juuuuump) pumkin! Cool little platformer! I think the counter really makes this game replayable. I can see some speedrunners trying to get the lowest times :-) - the music is very well done btw Congratz on your first LD entry!
Oct 6 19:20:40 24h 31m Prickle ♥ 3 What a fun game! It feels so polished, that I can see my own reflection in it 😁 The music fits perfectly to the graphical style and the puzzles are chellanging to make you forget time :D I think this game is so cute!
Oct 7 10:02:55 14h 42m Cat Games ♥ 0 Cool little game! I like the limited jump mechanic. Maybe the levels could have been a bit more "puzzly", so that you have to think about a route beforehand :-) Congratz on your first LD entry btw!
Oct 7 10:20:48 17m 53s Troglo ♥ 1 What a fun game this is! It feels very polished. The controls feel very nice, the graphics look super retro with those bright colors + black theming. The music fits very good to the graphics. The way the GF gets abducted really sets the scene. It gives a sense of purpose why you need to reach the top. No text needed The save points are a welcome addition
Oct 7 12:02:32 1h 41m Just another random TD ♥ 1 What a fun game! To be honest, I did not read the description and just went in. Then I was like: "eeeuh how do I play?", but after one round I knew what to do: Tower Defense! :D I love those kinds of games. In one way I think it's a smart decision to not implement some sort of demolishing feature. That way the player needs to be very careful what kinds of defense is built. Also, now there is a reason for the theme to be in here: there is litterally limited space. However, the issue with this approach is that there is some kind of limit to your game. It can't be played as an arcade, because at some point, you can't build anymore defense and then it becomes a waiting game Some music and/or sound effects would really add to the game :-)
Oct 7 12:22:06 19m 34s geom dsh ♥ 0 What a fun way to spend your jam! Your ideas are often very much "out of the box" 😄 I like how you have a commented version of your game. Did you make that first, and then condensed it into the tweet-sized code? One thing I could not really figure out is why the game would start with 198 points for the score. I see why the code does it, I just don't get the choise :-) Edit: btw: your cover image is missing at the moment. Was that on purpose?
Oct 7 13:47:19 1h 25m Locked Together ♥ 2 Interesting game! I like the simplicity if the mood-indicator, and the pretty colors of the names 😁 Somehow, your game suffers a bit from unlucky RNG sometimes. The first few rounds I had some combinations that would beat eachother up, but not me. I also had a combination where I kept being fed drugs, but never was beateb up or rped at all. So I guess my character was pretty lucky in those cells ^^ I can see how it can become pretty nasty when the wrong people are locked in with the player. I had fun playing in the later rounds, where I had the feeling I could die anytime. The first few rounds felt borring once I knew that nothing would happen to my character What engine did you use? Somehow I think I remember the icon, but I really can't remember ^^"
Oct 7 14:00:59 13m 40s The Inflatable Delivery Service ♥ 1 What a fun game! Classic example of "easy to learn, hard to master". The music and graphics fit together nicely and the controls feel solid
Oct 9 14:41:23 48h 40m StarDust ♥ 1 First reaction: whajooooo this is cool! Second reaction: Waaait a minute: this isn't based on Gecko's patent pending C++ template project 😁 And I still find it cool! It makes sense once I moved the camera a bit. I was mesmerized by all the pretty colors that I forgot that there was an acctual exit. First I found the room with the big orb and I thought that that was the end. Then I read your description once again and learned that there was an actual exit! I can proudly say that I found it 😁 This was a relaxing game. It makes you appreciate the level design a lot more. I can see this being expanded on with maybe items you need to get in the level to score points for instance. Edit after reading comments: I agree that the jumping felt a bit floaty. But then again: I could make all the jumps, even with 7FPS (crappy Intel HD graphics 4000 here..). Also, like hidden61ade says: this is art. Screenshot (46).pngScreenshot (49).png
