Small comment : it's my first game jam, and I struggled a lot with coding. So I'm still proud of having a functionnal game, that (I hope) respects the theme.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD54 → Fill the crates !

Hello @flancon
I think you made good work for a first game jam, congrats! The idea respect the theme and the game is playable, nicely done  If i can give you an advice, next time maybe try to make a little tutorial. I was surprised seeing the bloc placed over each other, i didn't understand why on the forst time.
Overall, a great entry for your first participation, continue like that!
Good job on your first jam. For small puzzle game this had nice idea. Problems for me was first the instructions not fitting on screen. Also the grid was off somehow so dragging boxes to designated area did not match with underlaying image.
Adding timer indicator to add pressure to fulfil customer orders and score how many boxes you managed to cram inside the order would give the gameplay goals.
@flying-butter-studio Thank you so much! Yeah, I'll study for the next LD, to save some time and to develop other aspects of the game. And again, ty!
@denvil That's true. I had a hard time with the cam and block placement (and some functions are juste horrible, so don't go see them xD). But I'll work to have a more complete game next time ! Ty for the feedback !
You finished a game on your first jam you can be so proud of that alone ! And then your game is also pretty good. Do agree with comments above . Tip: You can write the tutorial here on this page just a quick how-play :)
@senso I'll do it right away ! Ty for the tip :)
Yes exactly like that !
This game seems well coded but it's unclear about what you are supposed to do to get points.
@panda-king-976 You get 100 point by box in the crate. It's a bit repetitive, I originally wanted to code an evolving difficulty, but in the end, I decided to call it off, thinking I couldn't finish on time.
Cool game, a bit easy but the concept is very interesting. And for a first game jam, it's really well done ;)
the idea is great but i encountered a bug . whatever i do , i don't lose life . Also i don't know if it was voluntary but i can on the boxes placed previously , i think it's a bug because all the puzzle design you've made would be useles as we can fuse all the boxes together , i don't see other people talking about that so maybe something on my pc broke the game . Or the problem may be with the way you glue the boxes side in contact, when a box is within an other it glue the nearest sides of each other making that problem .
i don't know if i clearly enough explained it
@thejookerful Thank you so much !
@novicedevgames Well, the scripts are like a battlefield, so It's probably an error of the game. I'll check it and tell you if I find the error. Ty for the feedback !
For a first jam, you should be really happy with what you accomplished here! It's simple, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I did have some issues with the boxes placing properly, but it seems like other people have mentioned it already and you're aware. Not a huge deal. My only big critique would be to maybe make the game harder as it goes on because otherwise I think I could probably go on forever as it currently is. But overall well done and I hope you stick with Ludum Dare!
@mathstr0fficial Thank you so much ! I'll stick ! From now on, I'll study to code more properly, so that I'll be ready next LD ! Yeah, and thinking about it, I might have had enough time to do it (difficulty system), but I was stressed about not finishing in time. Ty for your feedback
As many have said, great job on your first jam! There's definitely some jankiness, I think making boxes unable to stack would've taken this up a lot. That said, excellent work! Hope to see you on future LDs!
After a couple of levels it gets addicting. Well done on your first game jam. I know how daunting it can be at first. but it allows you to push and grow to learn new things, I wish you good luck in the future!
I really like these sorts of spatial puzzle games. As others mentioned the weird grid snapping offset made things a bit difficult but I was able to work past that and made it through the levels okay. Good work for a first gamejam!
Overall really enjoyed the game! It's quite simple and had fun matching up a few of the different boxes. Placing the boxes was a little finicky but overall this was good. Good job and congratulations!
With little you achieved a nice game that fit the jam. Hope you will continu and do more ;)
@jellycopter Yeah I know  I'll work to have a better game next Ld! Thank you!
@ninten7 @strato @anciententity @fendri Thank you all for being so supportive! For the jankiness, I know what is the cause, but I had a hard time correcting it! Thank you again, it means a lot!
really good game for your first jam, only problem was with the boxes not aligning with the area properly but it can be worked around and was pretty fun
@crimson-flame thank you! I saw the problem a bit late, I think that the camera is not aligning properly with the screen size. Ty for the feedback!
Overall a pretty good game! Nice job! Even more so your first time!
I'm in awe that you finished your first game jam while still struggling with coding. Great job! I hope you'll get more comfortable with it in the future.
It's all right as a first jam.
Things that could have been easily improved: * the crates should stick to the grid during the drag & drop (just RoundToInt its position). * a way to skip waiting if we finish a level before the timeout.
@thetatautau Great point ! The grid was already rounded to int, it's the camera that is janky. It breaks the alignement on some resolution. And yes, a button to skip could have been a good idea !
@thelastslowpoke I hope so ! I'd really like to show some great and complete games next LD ! And thank you so much, it means a lot ! To be honest, on the first day, I almost gave up x) glad I didn't!
@edom-games Thank you ! :grin:
Congrats on your first game jam, hope you had fun and learned a lot!
I don't know what I did, but I unfortunately managed to break the game. I tested to lose life in order to end the game but after one "hit", my life would not drop anymore no matter what I did. The drag&drop was a bit janky too, but those comes with practice.
Gameplay-wise I would recommend adding a button to validate the box ahead of time, sometimes the 30 seconds are a bit long and you are forced to wait.
Great job nonetheless
Great job on your first game!
Funny little tetris-like game! There're some minor bugs, like being able to stack boxes on top of each other, but it does not matter! I would also like to have a button to ship a box I've already packed as much as possible!
Sometimes blocks are placed unevenly and player can overlap them. But for the first jam it's not so bad
@gerardufoin @deltamain @papus-games Thank you for the feedback ! I'm showing the game to some of my friends, the bugs are horrible.
Great job finishing a game for the jam. It definitely fits the theme well! I like the idea a lot, having these random containers and trying to jam as many tetronimoes in as you can. There are lots of ways you could make a very compelling game out of that mechanic and it sounds like you would have liked to work on that if you had time. Very relatable!
As a jam-specific pointer, it can pay off to give players more of a "complete experience" of playing the game, even if what you make isn't in-line with what you wanted. For instance, you could have made the timer shorter each time the player solved one down to a minimum value, and then give the player a "victory" screen after they complete a certain number of shipments. That way, jammers aren't left playing an infinite game wondering "is there more to see or am I finished?"
Anyway, congrats on making the game! Super impressive, hopefully see you next LD!
Congratz on your first LD entry! I have some thoughts about your game:
- I like the backstory of the game. It gives a sense of purpose - This game could really use a soundtrack, or at least some sound effects. A tool like this is really easy to quickly make some bleep and bloop sounds and it really adds to the game: https://sfxr.me/ - A visual grid where the piece would go when you let loose of the mouse button would have been nice. Sometimes the piece would snap somewhere, where I did not want it to go. When there is an overlapping piece there, then it is a bit more hard to fix - A "Next" button would have been nice, or tighther timers. Now I had situations where I needed to wait until the time was over - Rotating pieces with for instance right mouse button would be a cool addition! But I can imagine that the game would become less hard, which could disrupt the balancing
I think you did a great job!
@alfred-clark That some precious piece of information! I'll keep them in mind next LD! I'll try to make a system so that it's getting harder and harder, a better explanation of the game at the start, and a victory screen. Thank you so much!
@wouter52 Ty for the link ! Well, I started by coding the rotation, and it worked. But the verification system wasn't working, so I had, after some hours, to improvise. But this new system (that is sometime working sometime not), wasn't working with the rotation, so I deleted it. The next button is a good idea. I have to be careful next LD, to create something fun to play, with no long waits, and clear instructions ! Thank you for the feedback  it means a lot !
Well work for first Jam, i like interesting mechanics with move boxes.
Good work for your first jam! It looks like the things I was going to mention have already been said in other comments though. ^^;
I would like to congratulate you on being able to submit it on your first jam. I've tried other times but this is the first time I've managed to submit it in the jam category too. The pieces don't fit together properly, it doesn't seem to be completely working perfectly yet, but it works in a certain way.
It was tricky placing shapes, and it took me a bit to understand to get all the shapes in the red border, instead of just where the platform's graphics are. Nice entry!
