Thats a super cool atmosphere! Of course it is minecraft inspired but it reminds me a lot of the aesthetics of the bit trip runner series, just a bit more gloomy. I enjoyed learning the layout! Well done!

@2thegamechanger That's fantastic thank you, I was going for a bit more Deep rock Galactic than minecraft but the gold veins are very minecrafty arn't they lol.

thank you for playing

bayunyoubi 2023-10-02 06:33

GOOD game, and maybe have a map better?

bmacintosh 2023-10-02 07:03

Great concept with the risk-reward tradeoff of going deeper for better loot or getting out alive. In practice I found the timer much too short to locate the exit even while ignoring the treasure and with several tries. I initially thought the start point was the exit. That would have made sense and given me a shot at getting to it if I could just remember the way, which is a fun test of navigational skills.

ackbad 2023-10-02 10:07

It's cool but the limited inventory feels odd. Either items should have different values so you can risk dropping some to find something better later or your goal should be to collect as much as possible before escaping. It's the kind of game that encourages you to explore and having different valued items to find would be an easy way to encourage more exploration without having to add a lot of complicated content.

leparlon 2023-10-02 11:52

I liked the atmosphere, every sound felt like something played inside a cave. Controls worked out well enough. I loved when I noticed that there is stuff in the ceiling as well, got that feeling of "Oh I'm so smart" that we all love when games give us that. What I did not like is how the limited inventory seems to almost not take part on the game, since we also have a timer that is way more pressing. Maybe if you make the timer much longer, then the inventory management becomes the real focus? Anyway, overall really enjoyed playing! Congrats!

Fun little game! I teaches how not to be greedy ^^" One run I found a diamond all the way back into a coredor. Made two mistakes:

1: it was too far 2: i forgot to throw down torches. Once I picked up the diamond, the screen went pitchblack ^^"

One think I did not understand: I went back to the elevator (starting position), but I did not know what to do next. Then the lava appeared... Did I need to push a button once back?

This game could also use some background music in my opinion. The sound effects were pretty good!

I'll come back to rate your game. It seems that rating games is still disables until tomorrow :-)

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 13:29

@ackbad there are 5 different items, only 2 share the same value.gold veins are worth 5 gold pickles worth 20 emeralds and morganite are 50 and diamonds are 200

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 13:31

@bmacintosh the starting elevator is the exit, you should just need to step inside with a full inventory, if you don’t have all 10 inventory slots full you can’t leave.

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 13:33

@wouter52 the starting elevator is the exit you just need to have all 10 items in your inventory, I should have put that in the instructions 😅

greenphox 2023-10-02 13:35

wow, really nice one! loved the atmosphere and the simple graphics. The balance between greed and survival was really nice. I would recommend to have less torches, as I won using only 5-6 of them.

wouter52 2023-10-02 13:36

@soloadventurergames aaaah I see! Tomorrow I'll try another round then :-)

cyber-puffin 2023-10-02 13:38

Took my first run through to really register that the timer was counting down.... the lava helped

I enjoyed this for a few plays, got up to 560. Found a lava room that seemed to hurt even when I thought I was on ground. Good ambience.

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 14:09

@cyber-puffin oh crap I’ll look into that asap, during testing some of the colliders reset it’s possible one of them went back to full size 😅

matt-blake 2023-10-02 14:10

Cool concept, It's pretty tough to navigate deep into the mine with such a short time limit. Also for some reason I couldn't get killed by lava? When the timer ran out it gave me the normal victory screen?

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 14:21

@matt-blake thanks, was that the web version or download?

unentokku 2023-10-02 14:23

Couldn't figure out how to use the elevator, do I need to have max inventory to use it or what? Also very nitpicky but instructions made no mention of needing mouse. Other than that a neat concept and nice graphics.

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 14:26

@unentokku yeah you need a full inventory 😅 I'll be adding it into the instructions in a bit, one of those things that you know because you made the game, but doesn't translate well to other players.

ellaris 2023-10-02 14:28

- Nice scavenger hunt - The inventory was a bit hard to click and the camera was still moving making it confusing. - It was a bit misleading to have a pickaxe but not being really able to use it. - I got lost, couldn't find my torches, but I reached the, elevator?

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 14:36

@ellaris you need a full inventory to use the elevator in the current version, Im double checking the rules to see if i can put in a new build to fix that.

the pickaxe animations plays when you hit E, it's mostly there for aesthetics but if I switched that to a mouse click instead of E would fix that.

yeah the inventory system is basically irrelevant in the games current state, not enough time to worry about using it, but i will look into fixing the camera so it no longer moves.

ellaris 2023-10-02 14:52

@soloadventurergames I actually used the inventory towards the end, I got all the gold along the way, and with 10 seconds to spare I found a diamond and 2 purple rocks, and had a hard time throwing them away, then I made it "back" to the elevator in the overtime by running forward, it's possible I ran around in circles. If you wanted to make it easier you could automatically remove the lowest value rock when a more valuable one is picked up, or map the throwing away to number keys, spam 1 to throw gold.

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 14:54

@ellaris That is a really damn good idea, mapping the inventory to numbers would streamline the whole thing.

matt-blake 2023-10-02 15:06

@soloadventurergames The web version. I tried a couple of times because I wanted to see what it looked like. If it helps, my inventory was full.

soloadventurergames 2023-10-02 15:37

@matt-blake yep I'm seeing that now, booooo that's a bug i should have caught

plepletier 2023-10-02 15:56

I really enjoyed the ambient sounds in the game; they create a great atmosphere!

At the beginning, I was a bit confused about whether the goal was to collect as much loot as possible up to a maximum of 10. Later, I realized the objective was to exit the cave with the loot. However, I had some difficulty finding the exit way, haha!

Overall, it's a good entry. Well done!

zerbu 2023-10-02 15:59

Simple but fun! We can all relate to the struggle of having to save inventory space in a game like Minecraft.

catulus-zesmar 2023-10-02 16:20

Simple, cool, and creepy game!

zomk 2023-10-02 16:38

Very cool game, really enjoyed it.

coatline 2023-10-04 16:46

I like the ambience, I felt like I was in a cave. The idea of having limited torches is a good one, also risking better loot for your life. I like the fast paced nature of it, and the constant suspense as the lava counter ticks down. I think perhaps you could have less text on the screen and instead have more intricate and cleaner UI, immersing the player even more. Overall, I enjoyed it.

woona 2023-10-05 08:00

Great game! I liked the sound effects that helped immerse myself in the game.

As for the theme, I didn't really feel like my inventory space was limited, I felt that my time and light resources were limited.

Couldn't really get the highest score, but at least I found a way to get out of bounds (didn't figure out what how I did that though, but it's second web build). 😁

Good job making the game!

jens-g 2023-10-05 15:29

Very atmospheric and creepy. Would love for there to be more of a loop by buying upgrades and returning to the mine if you feel like expanding it.

designernap 2023-10-05 21:52

SOLID entry here in 48 hours and wonderful mood! I enjoyed this, nice work!

lizz 2023-10-06 01:53

For some reason I was in the elevator, but still died twice to the lava with a good few seconds to spare. Besides that, the concept is fun and it being a quicky if you play a little. Letting you experience a lot within the first bit so all kind of players know how it goes and is. The sounds are fitting, I like the graphics. Simple yet clear. I did see in the inventory the capitals of the items were mixing with one another. Thanks for the play! mixed letters.png

soloadventurergames 2023-10-09 14:18

@lizz yeah there are still a few hiccups to work out, if you are playing build 1 that one is kinda janky as it lacks some of the bug fixes i put in build 2.

@jens-g That is 100% the plan, im continuing to work on the game, adding in a hub of sorts where you can take your well earned loot to purchase upgrades, more inventory, more time, faster movement, etc.

@woona yeaaaaah that... that was bound to happen, the level is pretty solid but there are still a few gaps I have to patch up.

lcstark 2023-10-11 19:08

Nice little scavenger hunt! So far I've managed to get a high score of 590.

mr_1.png

My main issue with the gameplay loop is that the time is simply too short. I went through it about 20 times and most of times I've had a problem even finding 10 items in time to return to the elevator, so I didn't really feel the need to use the inventory system and manage what I'll drop and what I'll keep.

Also there might be some issues with the ground colliders - in my third or fourth playthrough I've managed to drop through the floor while sprinting:

mr_2.png

I'm glad to see you're going to keep working on it. I agree with Jens, a hub and quick repeating rounds can make this into a pretty robust game. Maybe even unlocking new mines with different environmental hazards (in addition or replacing the lava)?

The sound design is great. The ambient sounds really add to the feeling of immersion. Visually, the game is great too, it does have this slightly Minecrafty feel to it.

Oh, and one rather small thing you've added, but I really liked it - putting some of the resources on the ceiling. The lighting system made them tough to spot at first, but once I found that I really started to look around everywhere. :D
