| Jan 10 08:10:27 | Picking Apples 1.3 | ♥ 1 | Nice first game! ๐ ## Feedback ### Game I felt that it was pretty weird that the **camera couldn't move up or down**, but just left and right: is it a limitation of your engine, or is it deliberate? Instead of making the timer on the user interface count up to 120 s / 60 s, you could make it **count down to 0 s**, so that it's intuitive that you have to collect all apples before the time runs out, and you don't need to explain it in the tutorial! The **second level is brutally harsh**: if you fall off once, you have to start over from the first level! Maybe consider having the player respawn somewhere, and only sending them back to the main menu if the time runs out! ### Distribution You classified your game as a *Mod* on Itch.io: that's for modifications to already existing games, like the ones that go on the [Steam Workshop](https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/). The correct category should be *Game*, as your game is not dependent on anything else to function! | |
| Jan 10 08:17:45 | 7m 18s | gatherAI | ♥ 2 | I wasn't able to play the game, so I didn't leave a rating. ๐ซฅ ## Feedback ### Distribution **I'm not able to download your game**, as [this link](https://files.jam.host/uploads/$315807/gatherAI.zip) responds with *HTTP 404 Not Found*. Is the CDN of ldjam.com broken, or did something go wrong in the upload of your game? Please **mention the platform your game is for** somewhere on your page: I'm on Linux, and I'm not sure that your game can work on my PC! |
| Jan 10 08:39:55 | 22m 10s | WoodAndStuff | ♥ 1 | Well done for a game developed in... half a Sunday? ๐ณ ## Score I survived 213 seconds! ## Feedback ### Game The atmosphere for the game was good, especially with the fire slowly running out: maybe next time consider **using a floating point value for the fire**, so that it runs out smoothly! Since chopping an unit of wood takes 1 second, and the fire consumes 1 unit per second, you're **doomed to run out of wood after some time**: is that intended? The **falling tree sound made me laugh** quite a bit! ## More This reminds me of a game I made for a previous Ludum Dare: [**The Cold Night**](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/the-cold-night)! |
| Jan 10 09:00:36 | 20m 41s | Ice Tactics | ♥ 1 | Arrows, arrows everywhere! โฌ๏ธ ## Feedback ### Game Oooh, a **visual programming puzzle game with action elements**, since monsters move in real time! That's interesting! Have you ever played a game by [Zachtronics](https://zachtronics.itch.io/), by chance? Programming puzzles is their specialty (and solitaires, I guess?)! I had to stop playing before the last level since I got **stuck after landing on a pause tile**, just like @archfan7411 said. A good idea to make playing the game smoother would be **hotkeys to pick up arrows**: `W` would pick up โฌ๏ธ, `A` would pick up โฌ ๏ธ, and so on, making placing them easier! ### Distribution Please **mention the platform your game is for** somewhere on your page: I'm on Linux, and I wasn't sure if your game could work on my PC until I downloaded it! |
| Jan 10 10:37:19 | 1h 36m | Lo-Fi Harvest & Chill | ♥ 1 | Tried to play this game on Linux using Wine... it did not work, so I didn't rate the game. ๐ซฅ It's not your fault, so don't worry! Too bad, it seemed pretty *chill* ๐ ## Feedback ### Distribution Please **provide a Linux build if possible**, so I can play the game! |
| Jan 10 10:54:15 | 16m 56s | Harvest x Harvest | ♥ 0 | Fun and challenging game! ๐ฆ ## My score I lost after scoring **1471**! ## Feedback ### Game The **controlling the player felt really nice**, but something odd was happening: **releasing a key did not immediately stop the movement** from happening! Do you perhaps check for input only irregularly? **Music and sounds were great**! I didn't understand how to play until my third playthrough... Try **adding more details to the game page** or **adding a small tutorial** to make that easier for new players! I still **don't understand how seeds work**: it seems that I always planted carrots, and that the quantity of seeds in the bag never decreased? It would've been nice to have some **feedback on the purchase of an upgrade**, like a ka-ching sound effect. Also, I somehow managed to go into debt, and at one point had **-10 ๐ต**! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 10 11:12:10 | 17m 55s | Combine Harv-racer | ♥ 4 | NOOOO! WHAT HAVE I DONE! I HIT MY COW DAISY WITH MY HARV AND SHE EXPLODED IN A SEA OF BLOOD... ๐ฎ ๐ฅ ## Score My best time was **02:21.83 seconds** ! ## Feedback ### Game I don't have much to complain about: it's a **very good game** overall! The corn being cut provided a **very satisfying visual effect**, and is a **very interesting mechanic on its own**, comparable to coins in the Mario Kart games! I wish the Grand Prix mode was finished so I would've been able to see the total mayhem all Harvs would have caused... **The cows are a bit difficult to see** in the middle of all that corn: I'd add a dark border around them like you've done with the corn meter, so that they'd be easier to spot! Maybe **the camera could be improved** a bit as well: keeping the player always at the center is somewhat a waste of screen space, as seeing what's behind you in a racing game is not important as seeing what's in front! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 10 11:37:51 | 25m 41s | Blood Harvest | ♥ 2 | A great stealth game! But I'm too bad at stealth games to complete it... ๐ก ## My progress I got to the **ninja-shadow-boss-thing** and died repeatedly, so I stopped playing ๐ ## Feedback ### Game **Visually amazing**! Congratulations! Gameplay is fun, but sometimes it can be skipped by **rushing to the end door** and ignoring stealth completely _(hehe)_ ... Loved the **enemy ambushes when the end doors started opening**! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a native Linux build**! I appreciated it! |
| Jan 10 12:21:14 | 43m 23s | Warvest | ♥ 0 | ๐ซ โ๏ธ Freeze! Hands up! ## My progress I was able to collect **5 cups of coffee**! _And then I died to an acid cloud_. ## Feedback ### Game The game is **pretty fun** and surprisingly varied! I definitely did not expect the arena made of vines... Sounds are a bit **stylistically inconsistent**, especially the one of the gun / triangle shot, which ends up feeling... out of place (?) There were some places where I was able to **jump more than two times**, like inside the vines arena. Not sure what was happening, but it wasn't a big problem. ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! **The game does not run on Firefox**. (It probably requires `SharedArrayBuffer`, which is not currently supported.) It's not your fault, but I figured I should be letting you know! ## Game jam You haven't rated any games yet! Make sure to rate other games made by other people, or people won't play yours and you won't get a score at the end of the jam! |
| Jan 11 05:13:38 | 16h 52m | An Arm and a Leg | ♥ 3 | Oooh, a card game! I'd give my liver for more of those! ๐ ## My score I survived **445 hours**! _considering that I got bored of micromanaging and started clicking randomly after a while, I think that's pretty good, hehe_ ## Feedback ### Game The mechanics are great and **remind me of [Reigns by Nerial and Devolver Digital](https://www.devolverdigital.com/games/reigns)**! It was **very hard to understand the mechanics** directly from the game, though. Perhaps a better UI is needed? I loved how the **effects of every card were thematically meaningful**! I didn't really enjoy how almost **everything makes you draw two more cards**, which eventually would end up getting burned without you having almost any control over it. It seems it's really hard to find a work in this economy... Maybe **more "Work" cards in the starting deck** would've been nice? Too bad for the complete absence of sound, I think it would've made the game funnier or more serious, while right now **the mood is a bit lacking**. Great job overall! ๐ ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! **The game does not run on Firefox**. (It probably requires `SharedArrayBuffer`, which is not currently supported.) It's not your fault, but I figured I should be letting you know! ### Game jam It's so weird you haven't got any comments yet ๐ญ |
| Jan 11 06:15:59 | 1h 02m | LD52 - Space Cargo Harvest | ♥ 1 | It does not seem possible to rate this game: is it a bug? |
| Jan 11 06:30:12 | 14m 13s | The End of Time Diner | ♥ 1 | Hmm. It's time to leave some feedback. โ๏ธ ## My score I survived a long time, but I didn't manage to score anything. I think I misunderstood how to harvest time, and only made it collapse... ## Feedback ### Game The **mood of the game is great**! It really seems like an apocalypse in space! The **mechanics and platforming are fun and enjoyable**! The **graphics are consistent everywhere**, which is not something you always see in Ludum Dare games! Something weird is going on with the music: it **started playing halfway** both of my play sessions... ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! ## Extra Was the name inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, by chance? ๐ |
| Jan 11 06:56:27 | 26m 15s | Forresto | ♥ 2 | _BIRDS AREN'T REAL, THEY ARE SPACE CORPORATION DRONES SENT TO DESTROY NATURE!!! ๐ฆ_ ## My score I think I did pretty good! - Time: **6m 48s** - Harvests: **93 trees** - Kills: **874 birds** - Money: **$1396** ## Feedback ### Game Good tower (tree?) defense game! Harvesting trees was **fun and thematically appropriate**! Not sure why my golden trees never got any snow on them, though. **Graphics were nice, but not very consistent**: birds and planets had a completely different style... Did two different people work on them? ๐ The ***Shooting tree tier 1* was pretty much useless** even in the early game, it never managed to hit anything ๐ The huge waves of birds that started spawning in the late game were really nice to see, but obviously impossible to defend against. A **good endgame overall**! The sounds were **awfully loud and nonsensical**. _My poor ears..._ ๐ญ ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 11 07:18:21 | 21m 54s | Shaded Flowers | ♥ 1 | [I was able to build the game for Linux!](https://github.com/makscee/ld-52-shading-flowers/pull/1) |
| Jan 11 07:36:50 | 18m 29s | Explosive farmers | ♥ 1 | It's a nice screenshot, but where's the game? |
| Jan 11 07:48:20 | 11m 30s | Harvester Saloon | ♥ 1 | WOAHHHHHHHHHH THE TWIST! Really surprised me! Good work! ๐ป ## Feedback ### Game **Smooth and fun little game!** Without the twist it would've been boring, but it being present turns the game into a medium for telling a really short story! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 11 07:58:18 | 9m 58s | The Final Harvest | ♥ 1 | Simple but original idea! _I'm not sure if it's GDPR-compliant, though..._ |
| Jan 11 08:32:49 | 34m 31s | In Harvest We Trust | ♥ 1 | An incremental game! A classic! ## Feedback ### Game **Simple, but fun!** ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! ## Questions 1. What purpose does the TAP button serve? It does not seem to give any money...? Does it payout only when the delivery truck comes to harvest wheat from the silo? |
| Jan 11 09:02:36 | 29m 47s | Bucket Wheel Massacre | ♥ 1 | Amazing graphical effects, with the visual upgrades to the excavator and the digging trail and the smoke and everything! Gameplay was a bit same-y and excessively long, I quit way before getting to the "Win" upgrade. Try to make your game ~5 minutes long next game jam! :D |
| Jan 11 09:18:13 | 15m 37s | Beat the Harvester | ♥ 1 | A small little easy tower defense! ๐ฅ ## Feedback ### Game It's so simple I don't really have anything to provide feedback about, **good job for your first jam game**! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 11 10:20:52 | 1h 02m | Grub Grab | ♥ 1 | Stealing crops, are we? ๐งค ## Feedback ### Game **Fun little game**! Also **very difficult**. Catching vegetables is really hard without a way for the foreground man to **walk backwards**! Many times, stopping isn't enough! Didn't play with sound. Sorry! I couldn't turn my phone volume on! ### Distribution A mobile game! That's unusual for a game jam! I'll reward you for that! **The game does not run on Firefox Desktop**. (I'm not sure why...) I suggest you mention that, or you'll get confused players who won't understand your game! |
| Jan 12 18:24:58 | 32h 04m | Seeds Must Grow! | ♥ 2 | The seeds... they have grown! ๐ฒ ## Feedback ### Game Things get **really hectic and challenging** in the later levels: I like it! **Swapping tiles is a bit uncomfortable**, as it can mess up other plants you have already set up, or it can be cancelled by dragging a tile on a unmovable one. I'm not super-convinced on the double-timer approach, **you can find the perfect place for a plant yet fail it anyways because you didn't leave there long enough**! It makes sense as a mechanic, but it doesn't feel really fun... I noticed a small bug: in the pause menu, **the Main Menu button doesn't seem to work**. Larger levels can get the **bottom part cropped from the game window**. Both **graphics and sounds are consistent** and adequate to the game's style! Overall: **great job!** ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 12 18:43:18 | 18m 20s | Shroomer Caves | ♥ 2 | With this many magic crystals I will become rich! ๐ ## Feedback ### Game I have no feedback; this is my favourite game so far! Congratulations! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 12 20:09:25 | 1h 26m | Hivesters | ♥ 2 | I HUNGER FOR MORE ๐ฝ ## Feedback ### Game Your gameplay is the same as the one of [Sea Salt](https://store.steampowered.com/app/983350/Sea_Salt/), but with much better controls! I like it a lot, but both games suffer from the same problems, for example that controlling large swarms is frustrating, while it should feel empowering! Small complaint about controls: I would've appreciated dragging with the middle mouse click, in addition to the right mouse click, it feels a lot more natural and similar to an RTS... The atmosphere was great, and I feel like the game fit the theme very well! Good job! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 13 15:57:20 | 19h 47m | Charles, the Bee | ♥ 3 | Nice **bee**-ld up going from the flower field to the disco! Really gets you **buzzing**! |
| Jan 13 20:15:29 | 4h 18m | Escape From Fartlands | ♥ 2 | The start is horribly slow, but after that the game is pretty fun! Consider maybe giving players more starting money? |
| Jan 13 20:29:16 | 13m 47s | Hectic Harvest | ♥ 1 | ~~Plants vs. Zombies~~ Medieval weapons vs. Devils? ๐น ## Feedback ### Game A well made and polished tower defense! It initially seemed pretty weird that money is deducted when a tower is picked up from the shop, instead of when it is placed, but then I noticed that towers could be sold for their full price, and it started making sense. The gatling gun feels a bit weak compared to the flamethrower, especially for that price... Please buff it? ;P Is it intended that the more towers you have, the less wheat grows and the less income you get? It feels a bit unusual for a tower defense game, usually you get more money the further you get in the waves... ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! > Warning: Widescreen monitors not supported, play in a 16:9 aspect ratio. What do you mean by this? A 16:9 monitor IS a widescreen monitor! Perhaps you meant to suggest the opposite (no 21:9 or 4:3)? |
| Jan 13 20:45:41 | 16m 25s | Cyber Shapes | ♥ 1 | So. Many. Cores! ๐ถ ๐ท โฆ๏ธ ## My score - Score 3651 - 165 kills - Harvested 48 enemies - Reached wave 11 - Rank 7 out of 22 ## Feedback ### Game Impressive UI and presentation for a jam game! You even added a leaderboard! Mechanics are fun! Having an unique upgrade for every enemy type was a great idea! (I would've appreciated a damage upgrade of some kind, though, by the end of wave 9 I felt a bit underpowered compared to the large amount of health of "Shield" enemies...) Music is a bit repetitive and not too much fitting to the game's mood, in my opinion... Maybe something more fast-paced would be better? The camera rotation effect felt a bit weird and almost gave me motion sickness... I understood what you were trying to do and I think that it is a good idea, but something is off in the implementation, and I'm not sure of what. ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a native Linux build**! I appreciated it! |
| Jan 13 21:14:38 | 28m 57s | Arrrrrvest! | ♥ 2 | Yarrr! Solid game, me hearties! ๐ดโโ ๏ธ ## Feedback ### Game Fun and strategic gameplay in deciding what to plant in advance, which can be easily extended by adding more actions to battles requiring different resources! About that... what's the point of cannonballs if you can use any other resource in place of them, and they take the same time to grow? (No time to implement different growth times?) The game crashed right before the final boss battle! :((( ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a HTML5 build**! Since I am playing on Linux, I appreciated it! |
| Jan 17 08:41:58 | 83h 27m | Otherworld Harvester | ♥ 1 | So... shiny... ๐ป ๐ ## My progress I managed to **complete the game on normal** with 10/7 gems on the third level! ## Feedback ### Game The **atmosphere and mood were great**! Your depiction of a foggy landscape was very realistic, and the **monsters dwelling there were a perfect fit**; the **music too fit the mood of the game** very well! The **camera pixelification** _(not sure on the correct term tbh, even if we used it in our own game)_ **was done really well**! Good idea **positioning the player at the bottom of the screen** instead of the center to give more screen space to the surrounding environment and allowing you to think about what route to take to collect gems! On the first playthrough for some reason **I missed that extra gems would convert to upgrades**. Not sure why, I immediately noticed the message the second time... A **jump key would've been great** for those rare cases where gems would [get stuck floating on rocks](https://i.imgur.com/nkLzoDg.png)! **Enemies ended up being a bit harmless** (on Normal difficulty), maybe making them faster would've helped to put the pressure on the player... Are they faster on higher difficulties? Overall, amazing job! ### Distribution Thanks for **providing a native Linux build**! I appreciated it! ## Have we met? I thought I had seen your name somewhere a while ago... I was right! I found both your account and Nightingalle's on the Fediverse and followed you both! ๐ |
