| Oct 8 01:26:41 | Raiders of the Lost Bark | ♥ 1 | I didn't get it at first, but eventually I did catch on, and thought it was fun. | |
| Oct 8 01:50:55 | 24m 14s | CocoBall | ♥ 2 | I wasn't really able to 'play' the game, since I am just one person. But the graphics, music and sounds were all very nice. Simple concept, and the controls seemed to function smoothly. |
| Oct 8 15:23:06 | 13h 32m | ModularArena | ♥ 2 | First time I played, I apparently died just after collecting the first couple of items. I didn't realize I was dead, and couldn't move, and there was no "Try Again" option, so I had to close the game and reopen it to try again. The second round, I was able to move around and dodge enemies before dying, but couldn't figure out how to use the stuff I collected. I needed to go back and read a little to realize how to do this. Third attempt, I picked up stuff, used it, and started using a weapon (flame thrower). I killed a few enemies and died. Each time I died, I had to close the game and start it again. The graphics were kept simple, the movement felt like a little slow, and I didn't quite understand the head movement until I was ready to quit playing. I didn't hear any sound fx or music. Overall, for a 3 day game jam, not bad. |
| Oct 8 15:43:19 | 20m 13s | TidePool | ♥ 2 | The art/graphics were absolutely amazing. The music loop was a bit short, but fortunately nice enough so it was not irritating. I liked the intro how it seamlessly went from main menu to playing the game. Now, let's get into the game mechanics. I'll just say it like it is... It felt like an arm-wrestling match. There were moments when I thought I was going to be able to intentionally move or look around in a particular direction, but then I would lose the battle and be left staring into the sky or down at the ground. One last point... I had no idea what the object of the game was. There were objects I could pickup, push, and I could jump and swim and do stuff, but never ended up figuring out anything useful to do. |
| Oct 8 15:56:37 | 13m 18s | Ragin' Racers | ♥ 0 | I only ran two laps before getting bored and quitting. I understand the 8-directional limitation of sprites, but that doesn't mean the car shouldn't be able to move when pressing the directional arrows. I'm sure the upgrades would have improved the car's performance... I get it. But I just didn't feel like torturing myself only to find out the car handled better after the initial grind. Then again, it's a 3 day game jam, so.... not bad considering the time/effort. |
| Oct 8 16:14:50 | 18m 13s | Hat in Slime | ♥ 1 | Except for the Z-battles, the graphics were nice. The music set the right mood. I don't recall hearing any sound fx. Now, as far as the game play.. I had no trouble with movement, but it took me quite some time to figure how to push the crate. The pumpkin's message told me that I could now push crates, but never mentioned I had to use a nail/tack to do it. Once I figured out how to enable the nail/tack tool, or whatever it is, the game became much easier. The exit out of the level was completely hidden in shadows, which made it take me a minute or two before realizing what to do next. The following level was far easier than the first. Probably because I learned how to play the game in the first level. Anyway, not bad for a 3 day jam. :) |
| Oct 9 01:17:30 | 9h 02m | Sand&Sea | ♥ 2 | pretty cool concept that perfectly fits the theme of the game jam. |
| Oct 9 06:04:13 | 4h 46m | Contraband | ♥ 0 | The movement seemed a bit too slow for a world that was so spread out. I enjoyed the pixel art graphics. The story really fit the theme. good job :) |
| Oct 9 06:47:11 | 42m 58s | Rekindling Of Iron | ♥ 2 | I really enjoyed the art and ambience of the game. I also have a thing for these kinds of medieval traps, so I felt right at home playing this game. However, I couldn't find my way into the next area. I ended up quitting out of frustration. I really wanted to figure it out and move into the next area. Great job for a game jam! :) good luck! |
| Oct 9 20:57:03 | 14h 09m | Uballto | ♥ 1 | Very unique game concept. This is a really clever puzzle game. Way to go! :) |
| Oct 9 22:46:20 | 1h 49m | The Island | ♥ 1 | i always like a good clicker. This one has potential :) |
| Oct 9 22:54:02 | 7m 42s | Fit the Sticky | ♥ 0 | fit the theme pretty good. I would have liked it more if the first level was beatable. lol. |
| Oct 9 23:01:49 | 7m 47s | HEARTSCAPE | ♥ 0 | I'll be honest, I didn't really get what was going on, and I ended up quitting instead of trying to figure it out. The graphics were nice. The energy of the game met expectations. I just didn't feel drawn in enough to get through the initial learning curve. |
| Oct 10 00:26:23 | 1h 24m | Barterin' Buckaroo | ♥ 2 | Excellent work! This game fits the theme, is fun to play, the music is fitting, sound fx work, and overall was easy enough to figure out 'how to play', thus making it addicting enough to want to complete. |
| Oct 10 01:37:48 | 1h 11m | World Collector | ♥ 2 | excellent concept! I enjoyed playing and watching other people play this game. congrats! |
| Oct 10 01:47:39 | 9m 51s | Soy Sauce Man | ♥ 1 | weird is the new cool! :) |
| Oct 10 02:02:11 | 14m 32s | Locked | ♥ 1 | a simple but charming puzzle. I liked it :) |
| Oct 12 14:57:13 | 60h 55m | Run Through Worlds | ♥ 2 | I really liked the planet platform. the controls and game mechanics were intuitive. :) |
| Oct 12 15:05:33 | 8m 20s | Gun Fury | ♥ 1 | I liked the concept too. with the "Start with Nothing" theme, using melee attack to steal an opponent's gun makes a lot of sense. The music was very high energy. The graphics were all placeholders, but with a stretch of imagination I could see this being a pretty fun little game. Nice entry into the game jam :) |
| Oct 15 20:51:57 | 77h 46m | War with Nothing | ♥ 2 | In order to get your game some visibility where more people will see it and inevitably rate it, you need to play other games from the jam and rate them. This Karma system works really well, because if you rate 20+ games, you are more or less guaranteed to get 20 or so ratings in return. I found out about your game from the front page and noticed you were outright asking (or even begging) for ratings or views rather than using the Karma system. I played your game. It's definitely not a game that I would normally pick to play and rate, so here goes... Maybe I'll be polite and just say, congrats for entering the game jam. You have 'something', which is more than some people could say. Right? On the other hand, being polite can often stand in the way of being helpful, which in my opinion 'being helpful' is more polite than merely nodding and agreeing. I'll try to be a little more helpful then... The game is not fun in any sense of the word. You play a character who can not visually turn side to side and has no animation whatsoever, who faces a bunch of gigantic guns, which can not rotate in the direction they are shooting but somehow manage to fire off continuous rounds directly towards the player even if there is no line of sight. The object of the game seems to be to find the exit, which is not difficult to do. With each passing level, it's basically the same environment except there are more guns shooting at you... and more barrels to hide behind. Until you die, which I never really died, I just got bored and quit. You seem to be able to push the guns, for whatever reasons I couldn't figure out. I suppose, it could be unintentional. And there are some random barrels which can stop the bullets, although they cannot be pushed or manipulated in any way, as far as I could tell. I guess they serve as a sense of direction as you look around for the exit. By the way, you spelled Ludum Dare wrong in the Splash screen of your game; "Ludum Dairy" The art seemed to be the most interesting part of your game. Pixel art is always fun to look at. I have nothing negative to say about your art. I know how much time it takes to make it, so I'll give you a slightly higher score for that... But, overall, the experience was relatively poor (for me). I hope you continue practicing, learning and submitting. It's only through experience that we pave the path to excellence. Best to you! :) |
| Oct 16 15:19:09 | 18h 27m | The Whispering Forest | ♥ 2 | I enjoyed the game for a few minutes, the voice narrative is a nice touch. While it's nice to be able to move faster by holding shift, I never found a situation where moving at the default speed was beneficial at all. So I played through the game holding down Shift the entire time. The mazes were a bit much. It's frustrating walking to a dead end and having to backtrack constantly. But I did enjoy it overall. Keep up the good work! :V: |
| Oct 16 15:32:22 | 13m 13s | No.thing | ♥ 1 | The game was pleasant. Of course it fit the theme, but what kept me responding was the hope that "something" would eventually happen. I did finally reach the end of the game. Good job! :) |
| Oct 16 15:46:39 | 14m 17s | Prison Escape | ♥ 1 | I didn't have the patience to clear the first level. The micro-movements and pixel perfect positioning killed it for me. The first level of a game like this should be less challenging, in hopes to peak the interest of the player while filling them in on the game mechanics along the way. For example, Level 1 could be a very simple level that involves merely jumping over gaps or obstacles. Level 2 might introduce avoiding harmful objects such as spikes or blades. Level 3 might introduce a tricky maneuver such as jumping atop a dangerous object or jumping over a projectile with careful timing. I felt like the game started from the middle, and left me having to figure everything out all at once. Add the fact that everything is so unforgiving (no health points, instant death, no checkpoints, etc) It only took me a few minutes to rage quit and move on to the next game. Regardless of these points, the game physics felt alright, the controller seemed to move correctly, the graphics and sound were all fairly good. Level design is an art in itself. I recommend reading up on the art of good level design. With enough practice, your games will start to become addicting. Best to you! |
| Oct 18 13:57:42 | 46h 11m | Seedlings | ♥ 1 | Just by chance, I happened to play this game while waking up. It was a peaceful experience. The music did become rather repetitive, but the game itself was comforting. And it fit the theme perfectly. Way to go! |
