| Aug 25 07:35:00 | Quadopus Goes To The Surface | I WIN!
Short but fun. It's amazing what you managed to do in such a short period of time (read on twitter :)). Sad thing you didn't have more time to polish this idea! | |
| Aug 25 23:00:00 | 15h 25m | YOU MONSTER!! | Being a maze lover myself I quite enjoyed the game.

As other players have already said, I think the connection between notes could be improved. Being socially awkward or "too honest" are no reasons to earn the title of "monster", so there has to be something else about the character or the people he interacts with.

This entry excels in the mood category through the narrative, music and graphics and is a nice game overall.

Also, congrats for your first successfully completed LD! You should definitely go celebrate! |
| Aug 25 23:56:00 | 56m 00s | Motherflipin' T-Rex! | Nice entry! Had a blast!
Simple yet fun. Great job! |
| Aug 26 00:02:00 | 6m 00s | Tower Clicker | Nice graphics and fun game.
Too much clicking involved though!
It was really fun nonetheless. Good job! |
| Aug 26 00:20:00 | 18m 00s | Swarm Lord | Impressive! Loved it!
It's really hard though. But it's the kind of enjoyable difficulty :) |
| Aug 26 00:43:00 | 23m 00s | Late for the Show | HAHA, Awesome, Loved the intro, graphics, and music.
It feels a bit like a complex Warioware mini-game, but one I don't mind playing over and over again. The only downside is that you can pretty much button-mash your way to victory.

It's definitely one of the most funny AND fun things I've played so far! Good Job! |
| Aug 26 00:53:00 | 10m 00s | Impassioned Fowl | HAHAHA, I still don't know what I just played but it was awesome! Incredibly funny!
Great job man! |
| Aug 26 08:18:00 | 7h 25m | Labor Day the Game | Hahaha, so fun! LOVED IT!
I *somehow* ran out of workers pretty soon. I kinda needed more workers because most of them were lazy thieves!
It's a really incredible entry and loved every bit of it. Congrats! |
| Aug 26 08:30:00 | 12m 00s | Monster Simulator? | Fun game! It's missing a sort of win condition and/or timer though! It would also benefit from the addition of enemies. (hunters or a bigger animal that can kill you).

The endless world feel was really nice and eating sheep was strangely satisfying, lol. Graphics and animations are incredible, and so is the music.

A great entry I'd say! Good job! |
| Aug 26 08:38:00 | 8m 00s | Saucer | Awesome game! It's ridiculously fun and well made!
Also incredibly polished! To think it's a compo entry just blows my mind!
I suck at being an alien though, but the game is fantastic.
Good graphics, and good music. I really enjoyed it! |
| Aug 26 08:49:00 | 11m 00s | Bombercat | I really liked this entry!
I wish the cat wouldn't "go" beyond the game field though, it's already hard enough to stay alive with the enemies, lol.

For some reason the flash version was drawing things out of place (like some projectiles and the explosion animation). This didn't happen in the PC build.

A really enjoyable entry and I hope you keep working on it after the compo! |
| Aug 26 09:00:00 | 11m 00s | Attack On Cthulhu | It feels nice to be Cthulu!
I'm sure we all enjoy being a Great Old One endlessly, but perhaps a day/night cycle with a a time limit to end with the human race would be nice. |
| Aug 26 09:13:00 | 13m 00s | Shark Swimulator | Nice entry. Loved the puns!
Graphics are awesome, as well as the sound effects and the voice work!. It was too short though!

5 out of 5 Starfish.
P.S: Also loved the extra language. |
| Aug 26 20:17:00 | 11h 04m | Drain Reaction | The best game I've played so far! It gets incredibly hard on the second wave though. Damn cops, haha!

Gorgeous art, amazing music and a fun experience. Loved it! |
| Aug 26 20:23:00 | 6m 00s | Flying Purple | Really fun! Sadly it's not particularly challenging until the battle against the King.
It's definitely missing music, but since it's a Compo entry I think it's more than impressive as it is. Loved the art btw! |
| Aug 26 20:39:00 | 16m 00s | Monster - Your Worst Is Our Best | Man, this is such a polished and fun entry! Congratulations!
I think sometimes there's no perfect match for each job offer, so I it's a bit up to your luck whether you have good candidates, which in the end affects your score.
Anyway, it's a really amazing entry and easily one of my favorites so far. Good job! |
| Aug 26 20:50:00 | 11m 00s | Mornings of a Seventeen Year-Old Girl | Wow, this is quite an interesting entry.
Really well executed and highly polished. Nice spin on the theme! |
| Aug 27 00:17:00 | 3h 27m | There are Tourists in my Castle | Awesome graphics and certainly really fun. The attention to detail in this entry is astonishing.
Quite polished overall, although the game (Java build) crashed on me suddenly while I was playing :/
I also agree that it would benefit a lot from smaller levels with clear goals, if possible.

It's still a quality entry which is REALLY fun to play. I'd probably come back later to have my revenge on those pesky tourists! |
| Aug 27 03:43:00 | 3h 26m | Business Demon | Interesting take on the theme!
The UI is a tad confusing though. My first attempt was basically trying to learn the function of each button, and I made like $15M that time. Once I got the logic behind it wasn't really hard. My next attempt got me $162,044,202, a score quite similar to yours (but unlike your nicer approach, I actually achieved that by firing a lot of people and having awful work conditions, lol)

Simulations are hard, and you managed to do a pretty decent one over a weekend. That's more than impressive! A nice entry, although the connection to the theme is a bit loose. |
| Aug 27 07:54:00 | 4h 11m | Moonlight | Easily one of the best compo entries I've played so far.
Amazing job. Really polished and complete.

I ran into some collision issues (going through solid platforms and walls) but it didn't take from the fun.

A really well made game. Congratulations. |
| Aug 27 08:00:00 | 6m 00s | KleenEmUp | I really loved the concept! It's definitely missing some animations and music but I really like your take on the theme! Pretty cool idea. Hope you develop this further. |
| Aug 28 02:23:00 | 18h 23m | Hero | Nice idea. But I'd say you were a bit too ambitious!
Your game needs a number of things that are not that easy to implement during a jam, not only the enemy/player tracking/recording/playback system, but also collisions, map loading/handling, dialogue system, event scripting, etc.

Loved the "Hero" sprite and the core concept behind your game. SFXs were also pretty good.
Lot of missing/misplaced collision boxes though, but there's a warning about that in the description.

I'd love to see this idea developed further though. It's quite promising! |
| Aug 28 22:50:00 | 20h 27m | The Mammoth: A Cave Painting | Awesome game!
Loved the narration, the BGM and the graphics.
SFXs and collisions/layering could be improved.

It's an incredibly well made game though, and one of the most polished entries I've seen so far. Great work guys! |
| Aug 28 23:03:00 | 13m 00s | Should Have Worn Socks Today | Beautiful game. I wasn't expecting the twist at the end.
A bit sad, but as others have said; meaningful.
Loved the music and graphics.

Impeccable work, really. Congrats. |
| Aug 28 23:23:00 | 20m 00s | Forest Monster | It's a very addicting game! As another user said before it's perfect for smartphones and tablet devices.
The connection with the theme is a bit weak though.

Graphics are amazingly polished and clean. Would definitely love to see this developed further! |
| Aug 29 04:20:00 | 4h 57m | Stay Away From My Coins! | Fun game with awesome music and cute graphics!
Levels are a bit too long (in time) for the simplicity of the core mechanic and the enemy rate is not particularly balanced (Lv.1 already becomes a nightmare halfway through), so I think decreasing the enemy rate (from Lv.1 onwards) would definitely help you scale up the difficulty in a more natural and nice manner.

Aside from that it's a really fun idea. I like games with simple yet addicting gameplay, and this entry is one of the finest examples I've seen this LD. Great job! :) |
| Aug 29 04:29:00 | 9m 00s | The Creature from East Second Street | Well that was interesting. Definitely the most innovative game I've seen so far.

I've played some interactive YT videos in the past and I like them a lot. It's a sadly under-used format.

Some clips definitely need extra seconds for decision-making but it's Ok, no big deal.

Anyway; pretty well made entry, kudos! I had a really hard time figuring out a score for "Graphics" xD. |
| Aug 29 04:55:00 | 26m 00s | Milky Helps People | Quite a cute and fun game! Loved it :)

The puzzles were well designed and fun to solve. Only had a bit of trouble with one of the first 3 levels (if I recall correctly), the rest had pretty intuitive solutions.

As some other people have pointed out, the connection between the story and the gameplay is rather weak, but it's REALLY rare to see a pure puzzle game with a story that makes sense with the gameplay, honestly, so it's not a a problem for me.

Really well executed, loved the humor and the graphics. A fine entry indeed! |
| Aug 29 19:55:00 | 15h 00m | Consuminator | Really fun!
It's kinda easy to get big very early, to the point where you no longer see the stage, and that bothered me a bit, to be honest, but when I got back to the entry to rate/comment I saw the "puke" mechanic hint in one of the screenshots, so I gave it a shot and it definitely helps!
There's some collision issues though; Two times I died when I landed on top of a building (which normally doesn't kill the character).

A nice little entry I'd say :) |
| Aug 29 20:08:00 | 13m 00s | Office Hours | Quite trippy, haha.
It's definitely a nice and fun game with awesome music and good graphics. The mood was definitely well set in both "modes".

A really solid entry indeed. Great work! |
| Aug 30 00:57:00 | 4h 49m | HUTAP - HUman TArget Practice | Well that was fun! A solid entry with a very entertaining concept and nice graphics.
The screen shake was cool but made me a bit dizzy after a few minutes.
It's a really polished entry though and it was definitely fun to play. Great work guys! |
| Aug 30 01:07:00 | 10m 00s | On the Growth of Ludum Dare and the Selection of Themes | hahahaha, This is pretty much every LD ever.
It's a very well put together "simulator" though. Loved the time warp and the player-narrator interactions.

I'm glad you still made this game despite not liking the "theme" because this was hilarious! Made me smile a damn lot for sure. Nice job! |
| Aug 30 01:24:00 | 17m 00s | Grave | Wow. awesome game! Incredibly well polished.
Loved the animations and the grayscale palette.
For such an action-packed game it could have used a bit more of an upbeat tune though.
I can't believe this is a Compo entry though! Definitely among the best I've played so far. Good work! |
| Aug 30 01:42:00 | 18m 00s | Separated | Beautiful game with a very well-achieved mood. Every tile, sprite and animation is simply gorgeous. The music fits the game perfectly and the lighting work was a really nice touch.

If there was something to do beside scaring villagers I totally missed it though; I ran out of people to scare and was left alone with nothing else to do.

I loved/hated the awful feeling of being "feared" by everyone and unable to communicate with them.

To think this is a Compo entry is insane though! the amount of polish is ridiculous! Well done mate! |
| Aug 30 02:12:00 | 30m 00s | The Skullcatcher | Incredibly fun and cute game! LOVED it!
Took me a while to understand what the goal was and how to achieve it, so I think it's lacking a bit of "instructions".
There's a bug when you walk outside the map limits, but it doesn't break the game.

It was hard to collect the required number of skulls (?) but after a few tries I did it and it felt good!

I've seen quite a few incredibly polished entries (like this one) in the Compo this time around (which is amazing, if you ask me), but a lot of them lack an interesting gameplay mechanic, which is something this one has, for sure.

Well done! |
| Aug 30 02:41:00 | 29m 00s | Player Rush | Impressive games!
Awesome graphics and nice audio. The leaderboard was a nice touch too.

The game could benefit from different attacks and more varied character types with better AI, but this is definitely a solid entry overall!

I really had fun with this entry and it's one of the few games I actually wanted to keep playing more and more. Congrats! |
| Aug 30 03:46:00 | 1h 05m | Monstering Monsters | Incredibly creative game! It was a tad confusing at first but when the game started I quickly grasped the objective and the game mechanic.
It was hard as hell though! hahaha. Damn bratty kids!

Anyway, awesome entry, really fun! Congrats! |
| Aug 30 03:56:00 | 10m 00s | Monsters...BRAWL! | Wow! I wasn't expecting to see a multiplayer brawler game this LD! Awesome idea! Loved the graphics and musics/sfxs.

It's very well-thought design-wise and incredibly fun. I think I'll try this entry later with a friend! |
| Aug 30 04:09:00 | 13m 00s | Obamapology: Term 2 | Insanely hilarious game! hahaha. Pretty well done. Loved the textures and pictures.

It's hard to give you a score in graphics though, as there was a bunch of real photos that you probably didn't took yourself :/ Same with music, a lot of tracks obtained from different sources (although properly credited at the end).

Loved the humor in the game and it's one of the few entries that has managed to make me laugh so far. Awesome job! :)

TL;DR: THANKS OBAMA! |
| Aug 30 04:21:00 | 12m 00s | Enigma | Well thanks man, now I'm craving more noir-style games!

The "plot twist" at the end was kinda obvious but it was definitely nice executed. The reveal was clever. You could totally develop this into a longer game! Loved it!
Awesome work! Kudos to the whole team! |
| Aug 30 04:47:00 | 26m 00s | Gelan's Quest | Well I'm... speechless. That was deep. Really thought-provoking. A nice spin on the theme flawlessly executed.

A beautiful entry. Incredibly polished! I'm really in awe. Congratulations! |
| Aug 30 04:55:00 | 8m 00s | Eat Humans | Hahaha, that was fun!
The way different powers/attacks affect the score is a tad confusing and is not explained in the game, but it doesn't really take from the fun that is causing mayhem and eating humans! (never thought I would ever say that, lol).
A really fun and polished entry overall! Good job! |
| Aug 30 11:50:00 | 6h 55m | HUNGRY BUNCH | Wow! To be fair this is a fairly solid game for a "jampo" entry (my game is also a jam-compo entry. jampo should be a thing. Can we make it a thing? Let's make it a thing).

Simple yet neat graphics, sounds and music!

It definitely needs some in-game instructions though. Had to look at the description/comments to figure out how to play.

It's still a fun game that I could probably play for hours! Good job! |
| Aug 30 12:04:00 | 14m 00s | de-monstration | Cute entry! Loved the idea, the game mechanic and the execution.
Graphics and SFXs are really well done.

The "tutorial" chars are rendered over the monster though, so it looks a bit weird when you pass under them, but collision/layering issues are just a detail. I also found the "endless-chirping" bug but it kinda fixed itself by playing the guitar, lol.

I really enjoyed this entry. Well done, mate! |
| Aug 30 13:18:00 | 1h 14m | I am Become Death | Nice! Loved the RTS voice work. It's amazing what you managed to make for the compo! RTS are serious work!

The connection with the theme is rather vague I have to say, although your explanation in the comments makes it less of an issue.

Overall it was incredibly fun! Kudos for such a fun and solid entry, mate! |
| Aug 30 22:00:00 | 8h 42m | Am I a monster? | I don't know if this game had different endings but the amount of choices was insane! Nice story that fits the theme perfectly.

It felt fresh, like reading a short novel, where I could alter some of the events. A Choose-your-own-adventure this good is rare to see nowadays.
Kudos to you and your team! |
| Aug 30 22:27:00 | 27m 00s | a Spirit Awakening | Loved the story sequences and the hilarious enemies and attacks.

Some attacks definitely need some balancing for its cost/regen rate, and it could definitely use some extra polish, but this was really fun! I'm glad you managed to finish this. I enjoyed it. |
| Aug 30 23:14:00 | 47m 00s | Daniel X Moore Presents: Dungeon of Sadness [LEGENDS] | This entry offers a fun twist on the classic roguelike genre! Loved it!

Funny and witty writing and nice graphics despite their simplicity. My only complaint would be that it's too short! Great job with your entry! |
| Aug 30 23:39:00 | 25m 00s | Trouble in Monsterland | One of the most fun entries I've played!
Loved the art style, the story, and the things human said (It's really sad that you were unable to add them during the jam :/). It's definitely missing some music and SFXs but it's not any less fun bc of it.

I definitely liked this entry! Great job! |
| Aug 30 23:50:00 | 11m 00s | Space Monster, Represent! | Cools entry although graphics were bit confusing (not enough contrast between elements I guess). I also had to read the description to know I was supposed to exit to the right.

The monster animation is really well made and the "AAA" SFX is my favorite thing in the world right now, haha.

Despite lacking some polish, this entry was sweet and fun to play. A bit too short though! |
| Aug 31 00:50:00 | 1h 00m | Medusa's Bloodthirst | I've seen a few roguelikes this LD, but this one is particularly fun! I loved turning my enemies to stone and also enjoyed the cute low-res (but really well-done) graphics.

It definitely needs music, SFXs and some extra work (like gameover/win condition/screens) and it could also benefit from better AI (they essentially repeat the same moves over an over if I do exactly the same actions), but as it is right now is already quite enjoyable.

Congrats! |
| Aug 31 18:37:00 | 17h 47m | Free Hugs Kraken | Hahahaha, loved it! Really creative and fun to play! I wasn't expecting a sort of dating sim with sea battles.

Took me a while to find "True Love", the ship appeared after I reached a score of 6969, lol.

The small ships are really worthless though (score-wise), they could give more points, otherwise there's almost no point in engaging them.
The cannonballs have really weird movement, but it made it all the more funny I guess.

Who made the music though? Was it made for the game? Did you get it somewhere else?

Anyway, a very fun entry, Congratulations. I really enjoyed playing it. |
| Aug 31 19:01:00 | 24m 00s | Gluttulhu Rising | Definitely inspired by Katamari, a great choice for the theme I'd say!
It really needs music and more polish, but hey! it's already lots of fun as it is! Congratulations. |
| Sep 1 02:14:00 | 7h 13m | Cave Lord | Man, this was awesome! First classic JRPG I see this round and it was really nicely done.

Combat could use some tweaks though (not allowing you to choose a move you don't have enough MP for, for instance).

I really enjoyed playing this entry, and although I died the first time at level 2, the second time I got so OP that destroyed the hero in no time. It felt good :) |
| Sep 1 02:31:00 | 17m 00s | Manifest Destiny | This game definitely wins the "Most Satisfying Stomp Attack" award.

Loved the different levels and the general graphic style.
Music was also good although I think some SFXs were not playing correctly (sometimes too quiet, sometimes too loud).

A really nice entry overall with an interesting nod to real history.

Well done, really. This was quite an enjoyable game :) |
| Sep 1 02:42:00 | 11m 00s | Lardum | Incredible game! The most innovative game I've played so far. The voice acting was superb and each story was really funny!
Congratulations, loved the game! |
| Sep 1 07:23:00 | 4h 41m | Wild Flirting | Definitely one of the best entries I've played so far. GENIUS in every way and really well polished.

Loved everything about it, from the art to the hilarious profiles and messages.

BRAVO. |
| Sep 1 07:31:00 | 8m 00s | Child's Play | Really polished entry! My mouse hand hurts, though, lol.

This is definitely one of the most professional-looking games this LD, and a really fun game to boot.

Great job guys! Loved it :) |
| Sep 1 08:08:00 | 37m 00s | Spooky Cuties | This is a REALLY interesting idea! Amazingly well-thought! Loved how different options would appear when you delete what you were writing. Also loved how your profile affects the options. That's BRILLIANT!

There are some bugs here and there that froze the game a couple of times, and some minor "UI" handling weirdness, but this is amazingly well done (UI systems are more complicated than what they look).

Could have used Windows95/98 SFXs for added humor and nostalgia, but I really enjoyed it as it is. :)

Good job mate. |
| Sep 1 21:20:00 | 13h 12m | Lady Bug | Impressive entry. It's a really hard game though. Was unable to beat it. Combat felt a bit random because the average intelligence/reaction time of guards wasn't really something I could predict.

Loved the graphics and the music. Animations are gorgeous and the overall level of polish is astonishing.

A really good game. It's going straight to my list of favorite entries. Great job man! |
| Sep 2 17:41:00 | 20h 21m | The Legend of Piatã | Loved the color palette and the music and the sprites/characters were also really well done. Being able to fall from a platform to the one below was a nice touch.

It has some bugs, like being able to move for a while after you die for instance, but other than that it was a fairly enjoyable experience.

The way the orbs were placed for instance was really smart and reminiscent of the great games in the genre.

Sadly I suck at runners, so I never made it past level 2 :/ and believe me, I tried way more times than I'd like to admit.

Despite my incompetence with this kind of game, I think it's a really good entry with a lot of potential. I'm sure this would work really well as a mobile game! |
| Sep 2 18:19:00 | 38m 00s | Sticky Pudding | Man this game is incredibly difficult!
It's very creative though. I mean, it definitely draws inspiration from other games like happy wheels but it's the first game of this kind I've seen this LudumDare.

Loved the music and SFXs, and the art was also really nice.
Definitely good stuff, sir. Congratulations. |
| Sep 2 18:51:00 | 32m 00s | Irksome Knight | Great game!
Cute graphics and simple controls are probably two of its strengths.
The feeling of progression was fairly well achieved.
I rarely see entries with this much replayability.
Well done! |
| Sep 3 00:01:00 | 5h 10m | PixelMonster | Wow, this was really brilliant!
Quite challenging and fun! My only complaint would be that the character feels too light. It accelerates in an instant, so it's really hard to control when you have to be precise.
Other than that is a really solid entry. It's incredible that you did this in just a few hours. Would love to see this idea developed further. Kudos, man! |
| Sep 3 00:30:00 | 29m 00s | NFWTZJ: Nobody 'Messes' With The Zombie Jesus | Hahaha, thanks to this game I discovered that my hands have no coordination at all.

It could probably benefit from a sense of progression / difficulty ramp I guess, especially for guys that suck at juggling, like me. You could start just "bouncing" 1 rat, then juggling 2, then 3, etc.

It's a really polished entry though, with good music and nice graphics to boot. GJ! |
| Sep 3 00:48:00 | 18m 00s | Disastris | Incredibly fun game! Loved the whole look & feel. It was like playing the "random" disasters in SimCity.

SFXs were a bit too loud for my old ears I guess, but it didn't take away from the fun of destroying cities.

Awesome entry indeed. Good job! |
| Sep 3 01:04:00 | 16m 00s | Scream Hunter | Fantastic game! Definitely one of the most innovative games I've seen so far!

Didn't really like the art direction that much I have to say. Not really a fan of pixel art at different resolutions mixed with high-res fonts and particle/light-effects, but it was at least well executed, despite not being of my personal liking.

I definitely had fun playing this game, so kudos to the whole team! I liked this game a lot :) |
| Sep 4 17:47:00 | 40h 43m | Fly On The Wall | Nice! Love puzzle games and this one is really well made! Loved the mechanic. Definitely one of the most innovative entries I've seen this LD.

This HAS to be at least partially inspired by the 80s classic "The Fly"!

Controlling the fly was a bit frustrating but still fun.
It would benefit a lot from proper from audio and in-game instructions I guess, but it's a really solid entry nonetheless. Great job! |
| Sep 4 18:36:00 | 49m 00s | Huntingman Championship | Well, wow, this entry definitely makes a good job showing the awfulness of "sport" hunting.

SFXs were kinda disturbing which I guess was on purpose. Definitely made me feel bad about what I was doing in the game.

Gamedev-wise, the way animals move through the map/field could be improved significantly, and allowing the player to use WASD/ESDF to move would've made it more comfortable to control (normally you don't want to force the use of the arrow keys when you also need the mouse, as they normally sit at the same side of the "desk").

Perhaps some slight map exploration would've made the "hunt" more interesting too (so you have to literally hunt the animals instead of waiting for them to come where you are).

This is probably the first time a hunting game makes me feel bad about the "prey" (not that I have a lot of experience with hunting games, but from what I've seen they all look no that different from "Duck Hunt", which made the act of killing ducks look exactly like shooting Frisbee discs with a gun).

If the goal was making the player feel like a monster, you totally achieved it! |
| Sep 4 18:49:00 | 13m 00s | Corruption-5 | LOVED IT!
Cool concept, nice audio, awesome graphics.
Art, sounds, and filters all help set the mood perfectly.

A bit too short though, but still amazing; this is an incredibly polished compo game.

Well done. A great entry without a doubt.
I really enjoyed it. |
| Sep 5 05:44:00 | 10h 55m | You are the Monsieur | Nice art and music. Loved that you can actually charge the attack. Had a lot of fun playing this game!

It's also very polished (except that after defeating the boss the game just closed/crashed, so I guess you didn't have time to add credits/victory/ending screen).

My biggest problem here was the boss battle; Sometimes it would just randomly chain 2 or 3 attacks after it descends, with no no rhyme or reason. There should be a sort of tell-tale sign before each attack that let you know when it's going to charge or shoot, which are the hardest attacks to dodge (cannonballs at least have some reasonable air time before they land, and won't hit you if you are close to the ship, unlike the other two attacks, which are sure hits if you are not at a considerable distance from the enemy).

Alternatively, the number of actions the ship will perform should be related to its health (with some visual indication of how badly wounded the ship is), so when it's at full health, it would only perform one attack (on ground), when it's mildly damaged, 2, and then if it's badly damage, 3. This would let the player know when it's safe to get close and shoot, or when to keep a healthy distance and prepare to jump/dodge because another attack is expected.

Anyway, that was just a minor annoyance that can easily be solved. This game is great and definitely a very humorous spin on the theme.

Great job. :) |
| Sep 6 13:29:00 | 31h 45m | A Fox's Journey | I was unable to defeat the boss. Gave up after the loading screen had mocked me enough because of my repeated failures :/

My main issue with the boss, was that I was unable to land hits on it on purpose. I have no idea where its collision box was, or how the hits were counted. Sometimes I would inflict damage, but for the most of it my hits were completely ineffective.

Hearts also did nothing to increase my health (although I'm just assuming here that that's what they were supposed to do)

It was also a tad annoying to click to skip messages, especially since they advanced line by line (instead of by "page"). This game could have been completely controlled by keyboard, as another person already said in the comments.

Having said that, I really liked the graphics and the music, and although I wasn't fan of the "attack delay" at first, it really made the encounters more strategic and challenging, making me think before shooting, instead of going trigger happy. I ended up loving that mechanic (although the delay could be a bit shorter...).

I also liked the idea of copying enemy attacks, but I'm not really sure how that worked.

Gameplay issues aside, this game has an incredible amount of features and content for a Compo entry (enemies with different behavior, dialogue, game hints, music, graphics, game settings, etc). Particularly amazing given this is your first LD.

Although I was unable to beat it, I think this is a solid entry that I'd love to see polished into a full game.

Good job! |
| Sep 6 13:44:00 | 15m 00s | Corrupt Ground | This is a really interesting entry. Loved the core concept and gameplay mechanic and I'm sure this could be polished into an incredibly fun 2P game.

Turn-based strategy is something that I don't see around often, and this entry in particular has a ton of potential to be awesome. It's a real pity that you didn't have enough time to add audio, better AI, and polish the UI, but you did a great job nonetheless. Kudos! |
| Sep 8 22:44:00 | 57h 00m | Lil' Drake | The game mechanic here is incredibly clever and simple! This is a really fun game with really cute and well-made graphics!

It's totally missing audio, but this is a game that I'd love to see finished and published! (It's perfect for mobile but web/online would also work).

Great Job! |
| Sep 9 00:01:00 | 1h 17m | Planet Licker | Pretty well done game! While the gameplay itself is not really "innovative", the control "scheme" definitely is, so you are getting a damn lot of stars in that category :)

I couldn't play it as it was "intended" though (one can only hope that lickable controllers become a common thing in the future) but I played it with a keyboard and watched the "gameplay" video so I guess I have a pretty good idea of this game now.

Audio and graphics are incredibly good too, and the game is really well polished.

I guess the objective/win condition/goal is not really THAT clear, so there's some room for improvement there.

It's a REALLY good entry overall, and one of the most creative things I've seen so far. Great job, really! Kudos to the whole team! |
| Sep 10 19:26:00 | 43h 25m | Daddy, Don't Explode Me | One of the best Compo games I've seen. There's literally like 2 or 3 games I've rated with an almost a flawless score all across the categories, and this is one of them.

As it's been said before by others, the window "edge" detection for the camera doesn't work very well, so having a keyboard-controlled alternative (post-compo) was definitely a good move.

My only complaint would be that the first levels does not scale in difficulty very well. Level 2 and 3 are definitely "easier" than lv.1 mainly because they require less time-critical actions and there's more space between the places where you are required to act. Later levels had a steady increase in complexity and challenge that felt good. Timing the "fire" to melt ice platforms in last levels was really tricky, but workable.

Having said that, it's a REALLY well polished game, with a lot of interesting mechanics and interactions.

This is a truly wonderful game overall. 5/5. Congratulations. |
| Sep 12 06:15:00 | 34h 49m | Mobs, Inc. | Well, I have really nothing to say here. This game is perfect, beautiful in every way. 5/5 all across.

Congratulations, this is hands down the best game I've played. |
| Sep 12 16:24:00 | 10h 09m | Mission | Amazing game! Loved the idea and execution.

Something weird happened when I picked up a creature that was moving. It was suddenly very hard to move with it, as if I had to "fight" the speed vector the creature had before I picked it up.

The game is missing terrain boundaries, some music perhaps, and probably some bug fixes (probably what I described early was a bug?), but it's a seriously good entry.

I'm also a fan of how the game "taught you" to play through the "mission control" voiceover. It explains you enough to play the game, but it's still up to you to discover how to collect the samples and befriend the creatures.

Well done, man :) |
| Sep 13 01:59:00 | 9h 35m | Rude Bear Realms | This is a VERY interesting game!
I managed to win my second try, although the game never properly ended.
Had no idea what to do with the info the spies gathered. Sending raiders to the villages until I got enough money to afford the lions (and win) worked for me.

It's interesting how polished most of the game is, despite being incomplete. Perhaps you could have traded a bit of polish here and there for "completeness".

There's clearly a lot of potential here, but this was perhaps a bit too ambitious for a ludumdare entry. I'd love to see this game developed to completion.
It's an incredibly good work for 72 hours though. Puts many entries (mine included) to shame, for sure.

I'd say you did an amazing job. Please work on this post-compo so we can all play the finished version! |
| Sep 13 22:54:00 | 20h 55m | Dis-o-rder | Well, the ending is hardly surprising, but only because the LD theme is "You are the monster", which kinda gives it away from the start.

Narration could have been shorter I guess. Perhaps you could have provided a summary or a briefing before each case, so the choice of skipping is not so extreme (currently you either sit through a long narrated audio clip, or you just miss the whole plot).

Despite being lengthy, I loved the narration, and the music, but I can't help but wonder if my choices (which suspect to incarcerate at every crime) had any relevance at all, or affected the ending in any way. If they did not, then investigating the scene and picking a suspect every time was pretty much a waste of time, which would suck because that's pretty much the whole game.

I really like games that involve investigating and gathering clues. I haven't seen many of those this Ludumdare. This game could be better I guess if the crime-solving aspect is made more relevant. Perhaps your decisions could affect the number of crimes it takes for you to "get caught". Dunno.

Anyway, great job guys. I enjoyed this game!

P.S: I also have to agree with Beanalby. Faster text scrolling please! xD |
| Sep 14 01:51:00 | 2h 57m | Darklord | While the heroes are definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed it was really fun to overwhelm them with units.

Loved the concept. It's a brilliant idea.
I also really enjoyed the graphics and the music. It reminded me a bit of the "old" ('80-'90s) vision/concepts of virtual worlds and "3D".

This could easily be expanded into a very intense strategy/defense game so please polish this further into a full game.

Great job man! |
| Sep 14 03:52:00 | 2h 01m | Dude, Stop | Definitely a brilliant idea!

Finding how to "end" a certain action and move to the next wasn't really straightforward in a few panels, so I guess a manual "end turn" button would be a good addition. In fact, some actions have different "degrees" at which you could end them, that could probably give you a different score (for instance the Tower of Pisa painting can be tilted at a number of different degrees, from very subtle to notably tilted, but only a cergain angle will get you to the next "challenge").Same with toilet seat (leaving both seat and cover up, or just the cover would be both ways of ending the round, with different score), the salt shaker (completely removing the top, or leaving it loose would both be endings for that), and many others.

Also, it would be fun if more than one action could be performed at several panels. For instance, in the bathroom you could choose to pull/unwind the whole toilet paper roll instead of leaving the seat up, or in the salt & pepper shakers, you could pull the labels off, or choose between messing with the pepper shaker instead of the one containing salt.

Anyway, it's already a fun game as it is, and made me smile a lot. I loved your unique approach to the theme and I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I'm basically just spewing ideas out of sheer amusement and fun.
Well done! LOVED it! |
| Sep 14 04:28:00 | 36m 00s | Pluto's Heart | Nice game made in the classic RPG style! I've had this on my to-do list for a long time, sorry it took me this long to play it!

There was a fight inside the temple that ended up briefly after it started so I guess it was a sort of a glitch/bug and I think some dialogue could be tweaked a bit (for instance the word "monster" is repeated so many times that you can pretty much see it coming a whole sentence before it's repeated again).

Other than that I have nothing but praise for this entry. Perfect choice of audio, and graphics, and the story is well laid out, with a very smooth difficulty progression.

A surprising amount of content for a LD game too. A really sweet game indeed. Great work! |
| Sep 14 17:36:00 | 13h 08m | Dragon Tax Return Simulator 2015 | I probably enjoyed this way more than filling real tax forms, which are -for the most of it- just as daunting, but way less entertaining.

Loved your take on the theme and if I were to change anything on this
game, would be adding music and probably an in-game calc.

Anyway, excellent work. Loved this one :) |
| Sep 14 17:55:00 | 19m 00s | Drack's Mansion | Man this was fun!
I think it becomes a tad unforgiving after the first stage, and the fact that the game closes after you die (instead of going back to the title screen) is a bit annoying.

Having said that, the game is incredibly fun. The art is gorgeous and the combat is smooth.

An incredible work, especially for a Compo entry. Kudos! |
| Sep 14 19:08:00 | 1h 13m | Death Mettle | Fantastic game!
The giant skull that appears apparently when I'm not killing people fast enough was the only annoying thing for me, as it actually prevented me from clicking on targets, which prompted it to constantly reappear after that.

Loved the art, the music and the core concept and gameplay mechanic. Simple yet incredibly fun. It's also unbelievably polished!

I can't believe this was done by only 2 people! Awesome job, really! |
| Sep 14 19:31:00 | 23m 00s | The Next Step | Color me impressed. From the screenshots I thought this was a standard dungeon crawler but it's so much more.

The beginning (where you learn how to use your skills while scientist speak about you) really made me feel like a caged animal being studied, so killing them later was extremely satisfying.
It was also nice to develop strategies, turning the lights off (more like breaking the light bulbs I guess) in order to lure and strike my victims in the darkness.

Gathering powerups (like the ability to sense people in nearby rooms) was also cool. This is an incredibly deep game for the genre.

This game would of course benefit a lot from the addition of music, more levels, and more polished graphics, but it's a really fun entry as it is.

Loved it! Awesome job man! |
| Sep 14 19:52:00 | 21m 00s | Sheepdog Dino | Really simple yet fun.

The ghosts are a nice addition to the game, but other than that the "formula" didn't change at all during the whole game, which made it a tad repetitive.

A boost/dash action could also be a good addition to the game. It would help with large/complex stages like the mazes, and could also make a difference in the way you scare your victims.

It's quite a solid entry overall, though. Had enough content and challenge to keep me entertained for a while, and a simple enough mechanic to be easy to grasp and play.
Good job! |
| Sep 14 20:13:00 | 21m 00s | Don't Touch The Shredder, Jim. | Hahaha, awesome! Audio was on-point and graphics were incredibly sweet.

It's a really short game but loved every bit of it.
I'd really like to see a more complex/longer game with the aesthetics of this entry. It has a lot of potential.

I said it before but great job with the audio too, loved the sequence after you start the shredder.

10/10. Would play again. |
| Sep 14 20:31:00 | 18m 00s | Whacko | It's incredible that this is the first Wack-a-mole game I see this round. It definitely plays along with the theme rather well.

Pretty good rendition of a classic, with a nice choice in control scheme (arrow keys) and a very well thought gameplay (having the "stomp" take some time, preventing the player from button-mashing their way to victory).

Graphics could be improved, but audio and concept were definitely spot-on.
LOVED IT! |
| Sep 14 20:49:00 | 18m 00s | Monster Cookie Factory | Interesting entry! This is the first game of this kind I've found so far.

It's a bit too unforgiving though! Even from the start is incredibly hard, and sitting through the instructions over and over again made me quit after a few tries.

I have some suggestions that may (or may not) help you improve the game:

If you are going to have buttons in your instructions, they should "keep" their position between pages, so "Next/Skip" is always at the same position in every page. Same with "Prev/Cancel". Helps with usability and makes the UI consistent.

There should be a button to skip the instructions entirely. Alternatively, they shouldn't appear at all after you've gone through them once. You can still have them in a pause screen if anyone actually missed them by mistake.

Having "lives" would also make the game a bit more fair and enjoyable (so when you eat something you shouldn't have eaten, you lose a life instead of going straight to gameover). This would allow you to add "lives" in the conveyor belts to create some moments of relief that will contrast very well with the moments of tension as the game becomes faster/harder.

For a first LD entry however this is really good. Good job man! |
| Sep 14 21:03:00 | 14m 00s | It's just imagination | Very creative!
It's a really cool and fun concept indeed!
Music helped a lot to build the "mood" and graphics were more than adequate for this type of game. It's really incredible that you managed to make this all by yourself for the jam!

Congratulations, really. Awesome job! |
| Sep 14 21:21:00 | 18m 00s | Cecile and Clyde | As a fan of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde I really appreciate the reference/inspiration/homage. Such a nice fit for the theme! I can't believe this concept wasn't exploited more this LD.

There's a few issues with collision detection here and there but I really enjoyed this entry. It had some really tense/stressful moments, and involved a lot of strategy and timing to make the best out of the antidotes you find.

Nice graphics. It's only missing audio and more polish.
I'd say this was a solid entry overall.
Liked it a lot! Good job! |
| Sep 14 21:31:00 | 10m 00s | Look Into The Mirror | Interesting take on the theme (sadly had to read the description to learn the connection to the theme, as I didn't make it very far into the game).

Couldn't get past the second level. There's definitely a huge raise in difficulty there, and the game wasn't particularly forgiving nor give enough room for mistakes (come on dude! it's only level 2! the least you need there is pixel-critical jumps!).

The level design in your post-jam version is definitely better, but the difficulty curve is still a bit too steep.

Loved the aesthetics and the music, although the 8-bit SXFR-like SFXs were a bit out of place when in contrast with the beautiful echoing guitar BGM.

I definitely liked the entry in many ways. With a bit more of work and playtesting this could definitely be a great game. Kudos! |
| Sep 14 21:39:00 | 8m 00s | Profession: Chair de Poule | Nice take on the theme! Thanks for doing an English version.

I still think it was a bit too much text at times. A lot of things could have been said in less words I guess. This didn't make the game unplayable or unbearable by any means, though.

I was sadly unsuccessful in creating a costume, but that's because I fail at doing good choices in life I guess, haha.

Anyway, despite my failure as a professional monster cosplayer, I liked the game a lot. Good job! |
| Sep 14 21:50:00 | 11m 00s | The Weird Monster Thing's Adventure! | It made me a bit dizzy, I have to admit. I think the camera was moving too slow.

Loved how the score acted as a timer that increased the challenge of reaching the next pixel/cube.

Controls felt good enough, although I'm not sure if "tank controls"(Resident Evil style) are the best choice for the genre.

You made a good choice with the music, and graphics were cute and surprisingly lovely for a game about monsters. It's amazing you managed to do this in only 8 hours. Congratulations! |
| Sep 14 21:57:00 | 7m 00s | Tickle Monster vs Suits | This is definitely a great game!

Loved how kids who didn't get the proper amount of tickles became boring adults that could get you later. That was definitely genius.

I think it would improve the experience a bit to have a way to identify kids that were "tickled" already. Perhaps they could walk in a more upbeat fashion, or display a smile icon over them, or whistle (with music notes above their head for instance) or be different in any way that would let me know that I already took care of them.

Other than that I loved this entry. Music was awesome, graphics are great. It's a really polished game too! Congratulations! |
| Sep 14 22:03:00 | 6m 00s | Lux | This is just great. I love "stealth" games and this one is incredibly beautiful and fun. Enjoyed every minute of it.

Awesome music and nice graphics. It's very aesthetically pleasing.

Could definitely be longer! Good job! LOVED IT! |
| Sep 14 22:07:00 | 4m 00s | withered | WOW. This is such a gorgeous game.
Really emotional (a bit too sad though!)

Loved the graphics and music. I really can't believe I didn't know about this game until now. It's so beautiful. Good job! |
| Sep 14 22:21:00 | 14m 00s | Mazeotaur | A nice game although you can tell it's unfinished.
Loved that you used the "minotaur maze" myth here.

Wasn't a fan of "clicking to attack". The game would feel way better if the minotaur auto-attacked victims when within range.

I didn't see many games this LD that played or used mazes, which is a real pity, as I love maze games!

A nice entry given your limited time. Kudos! |
