Art looks nice but...would be nice that you put a collider at the building's key ^^' I walked into dark and i disoriented

glerikud 2015-08-27 08:03

It's a great idea to be able to see your gameplay from the villagers' view. It really suprised me. Nice work :)

leom 2015-08-27 08:07

The hero is looking nice ! ^^

Haha, hilarious unexpected ending =)

Nicely played with player's reflexes. But since there is a pacifist path through the game (you can skip attacking anyone and anything beyond the initial crate), it would be nice to have a special ending for this case (at least, without "What really happened" followed by nothing). Or you could place one of the villagers near the house's entrance, so player had to kill at least one of them to complete the level.

But I'm afraid that your idea is really to big to execute properly. Even if you had all the graphics and mechanics in place, simply telling the player "you know, they weren't really monsters, you're the monster for killing them!" in the end wouldn't work. The player would feel cheated by developers, but not horrified at his own, or his character's actions.

Cute little game with a nice idea! Reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode, don't remember its name though. The art was really sweet and the programming seemed solid.

ALSO I HAVE A GIFT FOR YOU: http://motor.base13.de/hero-web (requires WebGL, works best in Chrome).

And you named your files xx-LD32, I think you might check your calendars ;-)

@rnfl

Thanks :) at least for the programming part^^

and thanks for the webbuild, i will try adding it to the link link list, what does it use? i tried looking into web love2d but everything seemed cumbersome.

And yes, LD 32 is in my memory, and i was pretty tired while uploading, will fix it to, thanks for the hint.

Wayward, it's my own clone of LOVE that i've been working on over the last couple months + a few updates I made to get your game running in it. I'm using the LD33 games to check and improve my compatibility. You can find an (outdated) public release at http://motor.base13.de.

You may want to add a warning for the web version though, and tell people to play the download version if there are any problems (it's still in alpha state!).

Btw, you got my name wrong ;-)

Nice idea. But I'd say you were a bit too ambitious!
Your game needs a number of things that are not that easy to implement during a jam, not only the enemy/player tracking/recording/playback system, but also collisions, map loading/handling, dialogue system, event scripting, etc.

Loved the "Hero" sprite and the core concept behind your game. SFXs were also pretty good.
Lot of missing/misplaced collision boxes though, but there's a warning about that in the description.

I'd love to see this idea developed further though. It's quite promising!

You might get the same response i got for my game, hit boxes are too big and they should be placed at the bottom of the character for such style games. But i loved it. Your character's animation was really cool. You graphics solid. Congrats on submitting your entry! Reminded me of Inuyasha

Ending was quite unexpected; enjoyed the game!

hdong 2015-09-03 00:12

Loved the ending
Character gets stuck on the bottom of objects sometimes which was annoying.
Great game overall, nice work!

shawn42 2015-09-05 02:55

Cool take on the theme. Kind of an Ender's Game kind of ending.. =P That main character does look pretty. Keep going, I'd love to see how this turns out.

Time, the greatest monster of all...

landosystems 2015-09-07 23:48

Agreed... time _is_ the real monster here. Nice work, I now feel bad for killing blue squares :(
