+1 for libgdx
was tutorialed aspect timed? game simple enough I want to do start doing things, felt artifically slowed due to some mechanics, would be better if it was about 15-20% faster.

Fun game, would have been cool if there wasn't only one level and maybe some more features.
It did seem a little redundant though to have the ability to eat people from the shadows if you could just attack someone and gain full health after killing them.
Awesome submission, needs a little work.

Interesting little game, surprisingly atmospheric considering the presentation! This really reminded me of age-old games, where much of it happened in your imagination -- and this little game shares those traits. The minimalist sound also contributed to this greatly and the level was designed well. I just wish there had been one more. Here's my experience from playing this game, sounds like I was playing something AAA along the lines of "Alien Isolation" as the alien ;)

I really felt like I was the monster, kept by scientists as an experiment, they wanted to see whether I'd feed on the dead. And then the living. Oh, I surely did, but my powers increased and I escaped through the vents and took my revenge on those two bastards. How pathetic they were, running for their lives as they say me on the other side of their window - ha! Then I went exploring the facility and found out that I was not the only one kept in confinement, but I was way better off than those poor souls. Well, more bio-mass for me. I was such strong now, that I could take on the security guards head on, those in the front yard were the most fun before I escaped through the sewers for I am truly a monster.

It's a funny game, I like it, but for me the gameplay is kind of too slow!

Give yourself a high five for using Java + LibGDX. Good to see more people using it these days.

pi_pi3 2015-08-24 11:56

This game could be fun. If it was good. Sorry, but I didn't find any aspect of this game entertaining.

samcoy 2015-08-24 11:57

Fun little game. The opening reminded me of the beginning scene from Alien vs Predator :)

The controls need to be a little faster imo, it feels a tad sluggish.
The text in the bottom left needs to scale with screen size, I had to squint quite a bit to read it.

Other than that, great!

fraanns 2015-08-24 11:59

Good. The game wasn't too hard and was pretty fun. Also it felt a bit slow to controll.

mcfood 2015-08-24 12:24

Great execution of a stealth action game in such little time!

It could be a little faster. Controls are a little (just a little) bit clunky.

It might be a bit too easy once you can sense people, and recover so easily.

lastleaf 2015-08-24 12:27

Good game, but yes it is a bit slow.

tomdeal 2015-08-24 13:40

The tutorial felt a bit slow, but the guardsense feature was great :-) I could not figure out how much health I had left, but it was a fun experience :-)

Regarding the slow/sluggish movement, the movement is "locked" to tile movement, and I would assume that this is what is perceived as "sluggish" movement. This since the character does not respond to directional changes, in the middle of a move between two tiles (combined with a relatively slow character movement speed).

This is the same method used in e.g. Pokemon, but with such an overwhelming amount of comments on this, I'll have to practice "pixel movement" for my next Ludum Dare :-)

As for the difficulty, originally, a single hit would kill you (making the game a pretty hardcore stealth game), but I might have moved a bit too much towards the other extreme when I adapted the game to support multiple play-styles :-)

@pi_pi3, I'm not sure which recommended changes to take away from your comment ;-) I'll assume that you did not enjoy the genre, so perhaps I should start including a genre classification in my game description in future events, so that people know what to expect.

I like the way you have used the theme and the overall concept, but the gameplay is way too boring. Try to make it more fast-paced.

wevel 2015-08-24 18:01

Cool game, feels quite slow due to the speed you move at.

aflatminerstudios 2015-08-25 14:54

Started off too slow I think, but overall very nice feel to the game. Would definitely play more levels. Could also have used less health.

gil4 2015-08-25 18:27

Nice concept, I'd even turn it into a several levels/chapters/missions edition later on if I were you. A bit of polishing on the movement/overall speed wouldn't hurt, but I liked it the way it is as well. Making it faster would turn it into stealth action, but this speed could be used too for more of a stealthy game, maybe with seamless movement though with no tiles.

jordinuco 2015-08-26 17:28

Among all that Unity stuff, it´s nice to find projects developed with maybe less powerful, but more stimulating, capabilities. Good job!

careless 2015-08-28 10:37

Good job, I like the idea and had fun testing it out. I think with some improved art work and a new user interface this could be something I would play through.

With regards to the speed I was ok with it, but if you get enough people mention it then you could maybe speed things up a little bit, even have a click to skip to the next speech/text.

Do no be put off by those comments though I think people are just being honest to their experience.

Coming from an Amiga background this is the sort of game I loved playing, not sure if you are going to keep working on this but let us know if you do.

Anyways great entry well done!

Color me impressed. From the screenshots I thought this was a standard dungeon crawler but it's so much more.

The beginning (where you learn how to use your skills while scientist speak about you) really made me feel like a caged animal being studied, so killing them later was extremely satisfying.
It was also nice to develop strategies, turning the lights off (more like breaking the light bulbs I guess) in order to lure and strike my victims in the darkness.

Gathering powerups (like the ability to sense people in nearby rooms) was also cool. This is an incredibly deep game for the genre.

This game would of course benefit a lot from the addition of music, more levels, and more polished graphics, but it's a really fun entry as it is.

Loved it! Awesome job man!
