LD45 — Start with nothing

Food Fight by zgragselus 2019-10-13T14:04:47Z

The movement was interesting but I think we should be able to keep a key pressed and move towards a direction without having to "spam" the key. I get it's borrowing from the Crypt of the Necrodancer but without the beat to sync with it, it felt a bit tiring. Apart from the I liked the lighthing and post-processing and I managed to finish it although I got lost several times. A bit more variety in the enemies and a smaller amount of health pick ups would also make the game a bit more interesting but given the time and that it's a game jam what was made is good. Good job!

Dungscoot by Mr_Field 2019-10-08T22:36:50Z

I got the same error as the people before me. Do you have a version without the java bundled with it?

Bathtub Admirals by shide 2019-10-09T13:57:52Z

The client doesn't seem to have a build, just the project files. Also, do we need to run the server in order to play ?

Bathtub Admirals by shide 2019-10-19T13:20:19Z

Very very good game, I loved it! I liked the idea and I liked the excecution. Only thing was that the water was a bit glitchy and it was stuttering all the time and I also found out randomly how to duplicate items (which did not help at all because a boat full of missiles can't do much lol) but other than that I loved the game. Sadly didn't get to play against other players but still it was fun. Want to see more of it!

You Gotta Be Kitten Me by Silas Reinagel 2019-10-09T18:59:53Z

Cool game. It was a bit short and a little bit easy but I enjoyed it. My only feedback would be on the cats movement, when you leave one of the WASD buttons the cat keeps moving for half a second or so which made me feel I wasn't in full control. Also, when you right click is the cat supposed to dash forward? Sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't.

Ahoy! by tiptoe 2019-10-08T16:14:55Z

Really good game, I played it a few times. A bit hard and takes a while to start building a nice raft and I was a bit confused in the beggining (I thought I could swim) but other that those things this game is amazing. Great art and fun / addicting gameplay. Good job!

...and to Nothingness Return by philomory 2019-10-08T23:05:07Z

Very cool idea and I liked the story. Managed to get to level 16 where I got stuck but I enjoyed it. Good job.

THE WALK by alphapolygon 2019-10-09T14:08:27Z

Interesting concept and love the idea with the graves but the game is a bit slow. I think if the timer reached zero faster and faster with each hill it would be a bit more engaging but I do realise that it's done this way mostly for when you reach the old age.

Space escape by Mau Zer 2019-10-08T14:23:00Z

Cool little game, I loved the walking animation both on feet and hand. The gameplay was a bit glitchy however, it seems collisions don't register correctly making jumping some times hard. Also, in some parts the jumping required to get to the next platform is quite hard and takes a few tries. Other than that it was an interesting game, nice job!

Checkboxes by mandrilltiger 2019-10-08T22:16:11Z

Very very original and cool idea. I loved it! Wish there were more levels to play.

Broke'n'Bad by Oune 2019-10-08T22:33:34Z

An addicting little simulator about ermm... running a business. Cool idea but I feel like the police meter goes up a bit fast and the attention meter generator upgrade didn't seem to be doing much? Also, was there a purpose for the textured tiles?

Genesis by BustosMan 2019-10-08T01:48:13Z

Very very interesting concept I liked it. Was a bit confused in the beggining as to what I had to do but great game, I want to see more.

Blind by ukirain 2019-10-07T23:50:45Z

Cool game, I loved the art style and the music but not so much the talking sounds. Some translations are missing as you probably know, making the game a bit hard to follow, but I liked the concept. With some polishing this one has some premise.

Naked Guy by kaeveris 2019-10-19T11:19:19Z

Best birthday suprise ever. I might do this to my boss for his next birthday. Funny little game, I liked the concept but the movement felt a bit "floaty". I assume you used a rigibody and physics to move the character around, if that's the case then have a look at how to do 2D character controllers using raycasting, this will improve the feeling of the movement a lot and be more inline with good indie games. Other than that I liked it. Good job!

Raiders of the Lost Bark by Moritz Jaeger 2019-10-08T01:39:35Z

Very fun game. I loved the idea and very good excecution. One of the better entries, good job. The only real feedback I have is that the camera was moving a little bit too much and felt a bit nauseating, also it would be nice to have a compass as an upgrade so you can find your way back to the shops. Great game.

Gardening Take Over by zachabossaloler 2019-10-08T00:46:07Z

Fun little game. It was a bit hard to buy stuff from the market with the sword swinging around and it took me a while to figure out I had to press Space to buy something. Other than that I liked the concept and I think with some improvements it could a be a fun game to play.

Cleaner! by Nakami 2019-10-08T01:03:42Z

Very interesting game but a little bit confusing in the beggining. Wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, maybe have some sort of missions or something? Good game however I liked it.

Survival Cubed by CreepyCatdev 2019-10-07T22:40:50Z

Question, are you moving the cube using physics or transform ? And do you use raycasting? If yes the last one maybe have a look at implementation some interpolation which I think would help with the collisions and the "shakey" feeling it gives. Other than that the work is solid for the time given.

Spooky Mansion by Jeremia 2019-10-07T22:46:01Z

Is the windows build available at itch.io ? I can't seem to find the download link.

Nevermind found it sorry.

Spooky Mansion by Jeremia 2019-10-07T22:56:38Z

I have to say so far this is one of the best games I tried. Simple concept but fun to play, nice graphics and fitting music. Good job to the team. Question: Are the rooms pre-defined and randomly placed in pre-defined spots ?

Brian's Quest by Gilokko 2019-10-07T23:11:17Z

Interesting little game, wish the character was moving a little bit faster but I get it that then it would finish much faster.

Agnus - Balls of Steel by fabrito 2019-10-08T01:44:52Z

Interesting idea and I liked the fact you were trying to offer something new each level. The sound of some of them was a bit too loud but the gameplay itself was fun. Nice job.

Negation by gasgiant 2019-10-08T12:16:00Z

Very original concept, I really liked it! It was quite hard though and I was stuck on a level for a long time. Also, the camera speed felt a bit slow. If you could implement some sort of a hint system (not something that gives you the full solution) that would be amazing. Great game, really good entry.

itemless by NachtWitch 2019-10-08T20:06:41Z

Cool game but I think its a little bit too hard in the beggining, the night arrives too fast and there aren't enough materials around to build something up quickly enough. Also it seems the weapon upgrade requires you to hit somethin with the point of it? So if a monster has passed the point (like the fast walking ones) then you can not kill them anymore. I like the idea of 2D survival games, sadly not as many of them exist, and I think you could get somewhere with this one but needs some balancing for now.

SwordMaster by HiveMinds 2019-10-07T23:34:41Z

Fun game and I liked the twist with the weapons. I was a bit confused as to what I had to do in the beggining because the green button wasn't being pressed (I had to run and poke at it at the same time) but other than that its a solid entry. Nice job.

The Quick Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog by TheGameGuy 2019-10-08T16:34:44Z

Some feedback.

First I will start with the obvious about building for the windows (or any platform for that matter), what you could do is create a folder in the root of your project (where the .exe currently is) and name it "Builds" or something along those lines. Inside that folder you can have subfolders for the different versions (Windows, WebGL etc). This way you will only need to share the folder containing the actuall build instead of the entire project.

About the game, while I understand the idea of the trial and error approach it was a bit frustrating trying to guess each time where each letter goes without having some form of a hint somewhere. I believe it would have been a bit more fair to the player if somewhere in the scene there are hints hidden regarding which bucket each letter has to go to. Also having 3 lives is not enough given how many letters a sentence has and how much luck is involved into completing a game. If there was a hint sort of system then this game would have been a proper puzzle game.

Given this is the first time you made a game I'll give you kudos for that. You did far better than my first game. Keep up working on it and you will improve it.

Save the city from the aliens by Noshiz 2019-10-07T23:14:08Z

I am aware of the music issues and I am not sure why it's happening. It seems its only present in Chrome too. Firefox runs the game fine. The windows build definetly runs a lot smoother. Thanks for your feedback.

Also, a pointer of sorts to guide you as to where to go should be present I agree.

Save the city from the aliens by Noshiz 2019-10-07T23:55:16Z

@thomazfilipe The aliens are hiding inside their UFOs from you! Thanks for your feedback and the interesting hack you found in order to fix the chopping music.

Save the city from the aliens by Noshiz 2019-10-08T01:26:29Z

@moritz-jaeger User @hiveminds also mentioned the same thing and I had never heard of that game before. I just checked and now I see what both of you are talking about. I have a nintendo switch so now I feel compelled to give it a try. Thanks for your feedback!

Save the city from the aliens by Noshiz 2019-10-08T09:36:32Z

@velvetlobster The online version is very laggy indeed, too many things on screen and webgl doesn’t seem to be able to keep up. Having said that, the game has virtually no optimisation given how fast it was done, so there is that. As for the camera , originally it was much closer but we felt you didn’t get to see much of the surroundings so we made the camera pull further back the bigger you grow. However, now it does feel like it’s zooming out a bit too much.

Save the city from the aliens by Noshiz 2019-10-09T13:55:52Z

@deadlykarrot The music cutting seems to be a consistent issue and I'm still not sure why. The low draw distance was done on purpose in the WebGL version due to performance issues, the windows version has a much much higher draw distance. As for the slow physics I am aware that when you get very big things feel slower but I can guarantee you they are not, its a prespective thing. I should have given more speed and more mass at the same time so you can still move around without flying.

@ulisses It's our fault for not having some sort of an indicator as to were to head to.

@bustosman It's not your incompetence it's our fault for not having an indicator pointing you where the aliens are.

Super Goat Life by Olivier argentieri 2019-10-19T12:37:05Z

I really enjoyed it, incredible job. Didn't manage to find the hidden one though :(

My only comment would be on the goats controller, it felt a bit floaty and not very tight but that's the only thing really. I managed to get out of the world too, with some good old school wall climbing. Loved it, great job!

Fall of RS-17 Icarus - an Akaban Tale by Kooshy 2019-10-19T12:57:09Z

Interesting game. I managed to get 3 out of 4 endings, not sure what the 4th one is. My only feedback would be on the movement that was a little bit slow, I get the idea that you are in a space stations and there is zero gravity but still felt a bit slow, and the I kept messing around the mouse. It locks when playing but unlocks when reading text and somehow I managed to keep losing it lol. Fun game otherwise, wish I had found the 4th ending too (which I suppose is a good one?).

You Are Nothing by Sefirost 2019-10-08T00:52:31Z

Interesting idea but a little bit confusing. I get you have to follow the lights in certain order but I got stuck twice on the ghost puzzle. I like the concept though.

Unfold by Luc Dercourt 2019-10-08T09:57:55Z

Very very good entry I loved it. Great art style, nice balance between puzzle / skill in order to finish a level and possibly the only game I played so far with no bugs. The only thing that confused me a bit was flying. While I can see it allows you to move around faster I also assumed I would be able to fly above the spikes.

Also, why did the chosen one killed me? :(

Good job.

SYNTHMAN by Feingehacktes 2019-10-08T11:43:48Z

Navigating using sound is an interesting concept, I liked it. I managed to finish it without getting attacked by the beasts or getting hit by the train so I would say it was a bit easy. Also, it was a bit short too. Other than those two things, it was a solid game. I would like to see and play more of it.

Evolution of Civilization by BeaverGames 2019-10-08T00:01:35Z

Cool idea but it really needs some form of a progression bar. Something in order to know how long till the next unlock. Interesting game otherwise.

The Micro Bang by Glitchheart 2019-10-08T01:22:52Z

Really cool idea. Was a bit confused in the beggining as to what I had to do but I figured it out eventaully. Sadly all the planets went a extinct a little bit too fast. One thing I didn't understand it's purpose was the rocket camera, were those rockets that attacked other planets ?
