Unique concept, however it lacks in Art, the music is all choppy, and I have no clue what I'm supposed to be doing, other than what the title tells me.
I am aware of the music issues and I am not sure why it's happening. It seems its only present in Chrome too. Firefox runs the game fine. The windows build definetly runs a lot smoother. Thanks for your feedback.
Also, a pointer of sorts to guide you as to where to go should be present I agree.
A have found zero aliens! haha Unique game! Had a lot o fun playing! Music was chopping, but if I scroll the page down it works fine! Well done!
@thomazfilipe The aliens are hiding inside their UFOs from you! Thanks for your feedback and the interesting hack you found in order to fix the chopping music.
Like katamari in snow, except for some technical difficulties, was pretty ZEN
@moritz-jaeger User @hiveminds also mentioned the same thing and I had never heard of that game before. I just checked and now I see what both of you are talking about. I have a nintendo switch so now I feel compelled to give it a try. Thanks for your feedback!
So low FPS, but funy.
It reminds me Katamari Damacy :), I had no problems running it on Firefox. I find peace making the snow ball grows. Very impresive for you first 3d game!
I aaaaalways wanted to see a katamari like game like this in the ld jam .. somehow never seen one and this is the first time ... i cant get tired of this mechanic ... although i have some feedback ... the online version is very laggy and the camera makes the ball be perhaps too far from view at times ... please add ludum dare link so i can rate you there
@velvetlobster The online version is very laggy indeed, too many things on screen and webgl doesn’t seem to be able to keep up. Having said that, the game has virtually no optimisation given how fast it was done, so there is that. As for the camera , originally it was much closer but we felt you didn’t get to see much of the surroundings so we made the camera pull further back the bigger you grow. However, now it does feel like it’s zooming out a bit too much.
Funny but can be improve ! it go a bit to fast into a giant ball, have big fire that make you melt could be a nice add so you actually have to look where you go. And at certain size you just don't see the ground any more. I know I have to "save" the cities but while playing I was bigger than a village and I try to whip it out.
A fun play for sure, not really sure what to critique, good job
music was cutting out some, low draw distance, slow physics. otherwise great game!
Interesting idea, but it took me a while to understand what was going on.
Interesting concept. I think it probably should have been more clear as to where the aliens are at, but that might be just my incompetence .
@deadlykarrot The music cutting seems to be a consistent issue and I'm still not sure why. The low draw distance was done on purpose in the WebGL version due to performance issues, the windows version has a much much higher draw distance. As for the slow physics I am aware that when you get very big things feel slower but I can guarantee you they are not, its a prespective thing. I should have given more speed and more mass at the same time so you can still move around without flying.
@ulisses It's our fault for not having some sort of an indicator as to were to head to.
@bustosman It's not your incompetence it's our fault for not having an indicator pointing you where the aliens are.
Congratulations on making game!
It felt like Katamari Damacy, I like the concept and was quite well executed (given the time scale of jam). The music was choppy, and sometimes it was hard to control... but overall the idea is good and I had fun playing it.
Keep up the good work!
funny game good job ! :D
Not bad for a first 3D game! The camera feels natural to control, but it clips through terrain which can be confusing (since the terrain then gets backface culled and doesn't look like it's there) - putting a collider and character controller on the camera can help with this but is only the beginning of the adventure that is 3rd person cameras! I never found the city, but it was kinda fun rolling around the countryside and just kind of thinking of _myself_ as the danger, as I become this increasingly apocalyptic snowball. Muahahah!
Nice idea, but i have many lags! Nice work!
Cool concept, matched the theme very well. Had fun rolling around cool snowy terrain!
cool idea :)
