LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Legendary Legionnaire Massacre 2 by banana4life 2015-12-15T18:26:00

I used to play GalCon against my friends when we were still in school and had almost forgotten how addicting this game is! So i really enjoyed your game a lot!

The game didn't lag for me and the only problem i had was that i couldn't quit/restart with the E key.

I've played the game on easy and hard AI and i was glad that i didn't get smashed by the easy AI, but at the same time i think the hard AI could also be a little bit more challenging.

The audio and music was nice and it was a funny touch to make the units sound warcraft-3-ish.
(it made me smile like an idiot XD).

Hm.. what else..
Oh, I LOVE THE PIXELART <3
especially the alien infested castles!

Gameplay wise, i think it was a good idea to make a box selection for multiple castles, but since you always just send half of your units it would have been nice if we could keep them selected after clicking on an enemy castle, so that if we wanted to send almost all of the available units, we could just click a couple of times instead of scrolling back and selecting everything again.

Also, winning in this game feels awesome, because at the end you get a cute song for your victory :)
Its a cool reward, much better than just ending a LDgame with "You won", and i really enjoyed listening to it until it was over.

thanks bananas for setting up such an entertaining twitch stream!

A Glitch by sausage_squad 2015-12-15T20:32:00

i enjoyed this game a lot! it stopped right when i was hooked, but its a great concept, very simple rules and a lot of fun. it was fun seeing my character grow and that the power ups changed your look.

the first time i died, i pressed the spacebar and mouse buttons to respawn, maybe allow the player to respawn that way (i actually reloaded the tab, because i wasnt aware that i can respawn with enter).

Great entry and good sausage squad.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Shift by CoderDozer 2016-04-20T17:28:00

let me start of by saying im very bad at platformers, so this might just be me failing at this game. but i found it really hard! the first levels were very easy and like someone said before, i didnt find the first clues either until i saw the message "did you find the clue?" and then i found it and that was quite nice. at that stage, i was quite entertained, but then the next (and last) level was very difficult. it took me around 15 minutes to beat that one stage alone and i think i kind of cheated, too. but after so many tries i was just glad i solved that puzzle and also happy that there was no next level, because from a level design point of view the zig-zag before the double fireball (with 4 switches) part, did nothing for the level itself (except maybe frustrating the player that has to slowly move back to the passage that will determine if he has to run all the way yet again).

Overall, i would say i enjoyed this entry (and played roughly 20 min). the music was fitting and the art was self made to the best of the programmers ability. i would also say that it is a hybrid of a platformer puzzle/memory game, because it was quite challenging to remember the last combination under pressure the first few tries. the overall game speed is too slow in my opinion, it would be nice if it felt more fast paced. Also i would suggest adding just a tiny bit of juiciness* to your next game if time allows. Thank you for your entry! I hope you had an awesome time creating this game and learned something along the way :)

Finally, since this project is probably done, i just leave a web-tip for your next project and you can check it out if you like: search for "Juice it or lose it" on youtube, its a great talk of students about adding that special juiciness to your games.

Shamanic Panic by panurge 2016-04-27T13:21:00

we can see how much work went into this, but at the same time there were some design decissions that spoiled the fun a little: for example in the beginning you could just run at the floor to clear the stage and there were even levels where we didnt have to jump once. and one other negative point we found was that within a single form there was only one jump height, which is not necessarily, but this is what we would have expected from a platformer.
To the positive, the graphics were SOOO great! And we also loved the dialogue, it created a really good mood. And Overall we really enjoyed playing your game, thank you for making this :)

Robot Hockey Carange by ThreeUp 2016-05-02T16:53:00

ive never seen a minigame with this concept and it was really interesting to play around with the game mechanics, but i had trouble aiming at the enemy, because you can only move on the squares and not really turn to the enemy. i guess this is part of the games intended mechanic, but for me it was a little too difficult. i liked that you also did the 3d models and for the amount of time you had for this project, this is a really nice entry, because it shows so many different technologies (click to move, pathfinding, etc etc). i enjoyed playing around in it, so thank you for this submission :)

Elements guide me by Erkberg 2016-04-27T11:35:00

we enjoyed playing your game during break at university and the art style reminded us of limbo. after we fell down that one pit where you learn the cloud transform, we couldnt get back up (it was quite hard to avoid the spikes).

Siege of Desn Keep by Easimer 2016-04-27T11:45:00

the idea was interesting, it reminded us of a warcraft 3 funmap we used to play years ago. you made a lot of 3d models, which was quite nice and gave it a cartoonish look.
gameplay wise, we never really used the slow, so we didnt change into one of the forms at all, but we used the sprint to get from one tower to the next. but as of right now, there were too few abilities to spend the mana to shapeshift into something else than the fire element.
thanks for submitting this game :)

Baldaquin VIII - Shift this shape by Marcellus 2016-04-27T12:11:00

i don't even..
so sorry. but i enjoyed the artstyle. i played it with my friends and we were somewhat creeped out by the dialogues.

ShapeShape by Jin47 2016-04-27T12:30:00

we enjoyed the game a lot, but too bad that there was only one level (due to the time constraint of the compo), but we thought it was a lot of fun, the graphics were oki and the gameplay was innovative (that you had to shoot the pickups to a place where you can pick them up again later on).
thanks for making this nice little game :)

ps: we added a bonus star to humor for thanking your food and motivation manager! :)

Harvest Meadow Madness by joekinley 2016-04-27T12:21:00

the game mechanic was simple but fun. we liked the juiciness of the game (the camera shake and white flashes) and overall it had a really good mood. the graphics were well done. we had a bug, where we got stuck in the middle of a 3x3 field, after planting and watering plants.
thanks for making this game :)

Wizard Quest by mikedirl 2016-04-27T13:43:00

You Won!
(it was pretty hard to get there but luckily defeated enemies didnt respawn. it took us 3 people and a lot of time to beat it, and then we only got a little sign saying you won.. but that made us laugh, so we give it a bonus point for humor too)

Overall it was fun to play through once, and some possible improvements could be making the jump height variable (like tapping for lower jump) and optimize framerate a little (it was hard to play on our laptop). Thanks for submitting this game :)

Neounobtainium by Pfeyffer 2016-04-27T12:40:00

your game idea was nice and can be easily improved on with more levels. we couldnt really see the benefit of the orange(?) form, but other than that it was really fun to play. It is a game i would play on my smartphone when i have to wait somewhere and only want to play something small to pass the time. The graphics were very nice and so polished and fitting. thanks for submitting this game :)

March of the Wizards by BarkingCat 2016-04-18T23:52:00

i really liked the music and the sound effects, also i just loved that you ran with a group of wizards instead of just one and that you had so many lives (it took a while for me to learn which enemies are what, although if you look at them while not playing the monster design made it pretty clear, which one is supposed to be which element).

The graphics were also well done and fitted well with the music :)

ShipShift by deadbodyoutline 2016-04-27T18:51:00

Cool Game!
Core mechanics work fine. When i died i tried again to reach a new wave. The cricle ship is really innovative but the Rectangle Ship seemed kinda useless and the Triangle ship could be a little slower in my opinion. Anyway it was fun to play.

Imaginary Dungeon by brunocoimbra 2016-04-19T00:08:00

Oww.. the title screen looked so nice, but when i started the dungeon i realized this is a scary/creepy game. i would have loved to explore a bit more, but the monster sounds and the music were really doing their thing.. i think this is kind of nightmare stuff for me. But i enjoyed the art and you could really see that you put a lot of effort into making those things your own.

so gameplay wise i wished the monster wouldnt go through walls, because that really freaked me out, but i do understand that it adds to the atmosphere.

(for me, this game was a little creepy as im easily scared and so i feel that it accomplished what it tried to achieve with its mood) Thanks for making this!

TetriShift by dkdwrek 2016-05-02T16:34:00

The mechanic to be able to design your own blocks is a cool addition to tetris and for me, as someone who was never really good at tetris, it was very helpful and got me into the game. before i noticed, already 10 minutes had passed with me playing around with your game: finding interesting techniques to not loose as fast, for example one can just rotate a piece very quickly to make it go back up :) i enjoyed the music of the game, it was fitting and improved the experience greatly, as well as the little extra juiciness when you finally hit the top and loose and the screen starts to shake. I also enjoyed the graphics, they were simple but very fitting for an oldschool game. The Controls were also well done, for me the shapeshifting key-combos felt intuitive and beeing able to do all actions with one hand made coordinating a lot easier than if i had to move/rotate/build the pieces with seperate hands. Well done, thanks for the submission, its a fun game :)

Shifty Shape Challenge by howardcs 2016-04-20T17:47:00

The game was hard to control, the first tries were easier, because for some reason the bird keeps its speed after death and then starts bouncing all over the place. i even got stuck in the wall texture and one time i bounced around outside the level itself. it took many reloads to finish the level, but i couldnt get enough of the death animation of that poor bird, that was quite entertaining and well done. Overall i enjoyed it. Thank you for the entry :) i hope you had an awesome time and learned something on the way

Mighty Morphin Cactus : In The Dark by siryakko 2016-04-27T13:53:00

the game was interesting, it was a nice idea to change the size of your character to squeeze through narrow passages.
The idea to have a cactus as protagonist was nothing less than genius (the title made us click the game). the controls were a little difficult on a pc keyboard, but we didnt have the recommended gamepad. thanks for making this game, it was fun :)

Can't Drive This - #cantdrivethis by pixel_maniacs 2016-04-19T00:39:00

i also played alone, but i definately want to come back and try to play it with someone. its a super interesting concept to play this game in local multiplayer and this is the first entry with coop i've seen so far. i also like the artstyle, its very refreshing and fitting. you can definately see how much work was put into this project and since it has a ranking list, i will probably go back and play it again tomorrow (its so laaate here :c) thank you for the great entry!

Shape maze by Firephoenix 2016-05-02T19:09:00

The Mazes are nicely generated and it wasnt easy to find the right way, especially because the green/black color made it hard for my eyes to not get confused. I had fun finding the correct route through the maze, but then actually getting there was a pain when moving diagonally, i had to start over a dozen times. But for anyone that enjoys solving mazes, this is a fun game, thank you for making this :)

Morphris by bushmango 2016-04-27T13:03:00

it was basically tetris with very interesting stones and turning features, which was hard to predict and understand but very fun to play. A nice feature was that once you finish a line, the blocks fall in place, so you can come back from a bad mess (which is nice for not so good tetris players like me). the art was fitting and very polished. choosing a cat as stone also benefitted the mood. it is a very nice submission, thank you :)

Nyamo's Adventure by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2016-05-05T11:36:00

This game is my favorite ludum dare game so far! yes it's a platformer and i usually dont like platformers much (a lot of them are too hard for me to finish), but this game feels so different, its a very relaxed feeling and with the great music and the beautiful art i will definately play it until i completed it 100%. What i loved the most was that there were so many different soundtracks and each was very fitting for the environment it was played in. i also enjoyed the level design! i mean at some points i've been wondering how to get up there and then i just gave up on trying and after finding the shapeshifting the level brought me to that same position again which i could now jump up to. i think level design is too often neclected in game jams and you just did everything right. i also loved hunting the collectibles and figuring out that one could jump up and transform on the way to jump further and get to more places. this was just wow :) i already read your post on how the jam went so i know you had a fun experience ^-^ thanks for making this game!

Flattened by Madball 2016-05-02T18:16:00

I enjoyed this game a lot, especially playing on two different plains was very unique and well implemented. the fact that you couldnt go backwards made me replay the game to find all the secrets (i didnt want to reset midgame). This first level was very easy to complete, but i can easily see how this cpuld lead to a really fun puzzle-platformer. the controls were easy and the graphics were simple but still good and i thought the opening sequence, in which the guy gets flattened was a very nice touch! Overall i had great fun with the game and i spend a while to do the 100% completion. if it had more levels, i'd go back and play more. Thank you for submitting this entry! :)

Infinite Trip by Steven Pinto 2016-05-02T18:51:00

I'm usually not very good at platformers, but this one was relatively easy (since its not really a platformer but a runner i guess, so i cant fall down xD). But for me that was very nice, and it fitted the relaxing mood ;) i also liked how you gave those shapes character and the simple graphics fit the game well. the music is one of my favorite parts about this jam entry, because it encourages you to go fast. thank you for this submission!

Evilkitten by FengeR 2016-04-27T12:52:00

the idea is simple but works really well. we played your game with 3 people, one of my friends got 180 points as a high score and i got 150 both times.. then our other friend tried it and got 800 right away. the graphics were so cute and the sound was really nice too, overall i cant find anything that is not worth a good rating as it was both, fun to watch and fun to watch the game beeing played.
thank you for submitting this entry! :)

Shape Warp by Mordokay 2016-04-27T19:05:00

Nice game ,cool music and good graphics. I enjoyed playing it! Once you figured out which key stands for which shape it gets a little too easy. I guess it would better if the game speed would constantly increase.

viA Morpha by Seth_senpai 2016-04-20T16:37:00

The game was very interesting and i especially liked the dynamically generated background and the look and feel of the game. the game mechanic was fun enough to play it for a while and show it to my friends. the soundeffects when dragging the thingies were a little loud for my taste, but other than that the sounds fitted well. we had trouble sharing the custom levels, because after you create one, you cant immediately play that level (or i just couldnt find it). overall i enjoyed playing this jam entry, thanks for making this! :)

Shape Shuffle by BitDare 2016-04-30T14:14:00

i liked this game especially for its fast gameplay and that the weapons required different tactics, for example you could not jump over enemies with the heavy hammer, but could run and dodge enemies with the light bow. the level system was nice because it added a sense of progress, although i believe this will play a bigger part in the updated version that i didnt play yet. after finishing this first level, i found myself wall climbing around for a while and i could really see this becoming a fast paced action platformer. thanks for this submission :)

The Shamankeeper by Mystical 2016-04-20T16:51:00

Hey Mystical, what i liked about your game mechanic was that you could do both, summon a companion and then also take over his form, i honestly only expected to change into the animal. its a nice game mechanic and with the right story and enough effort this would really make a good game. as it is right now, its more of a proof-of-concept, but thats also great especially for working alone. I also thought that you did a good job creating a nice environment and the creatures as well (i loved the giant snake thingy and the cat the most). i hope you had an awesome time creating this and that you learned something new along the way - after all thats what this jam is for isn't it? :)

luvShape by luvShape 2016-04-19T00:35:00

Wow, that was.. special? :D
i felt so distracted by the background that i missed a lot of pieces in the beginning and at first i didnt know what to do, but then it began to be really fun. i think you made a really fun geometry game and from the games i've played so far, this one has the most unique artwork yet, and although the game concept is simple, its really hard enough with that much distraction. cool entry :)
