LD42 — Running out of space

Triple Tribble Trouble by freso 2018-08-14T21:01:58Z

Personally, I found the music difficult, to the point where I removed my earbuds. Also, I got to the point where I couldn't beat the level. Tribbles were blocking the exit, but I couldn't get rid of them without jumping on them, which would spawn more tribbles... got rather laggy too. Nonetheless, fun concept!

CPS - Cryogenic Protection Services by willowblade 2018-08-14T20:21:17Z

Interesting. I have a few minor concerns: 1. There was a point at which I repaired all of the holes in the defense module (the patched-up-metal-sprite appeared over the holes) and was not losing oxygen, yet the room was still blinking orange. I had to eject the room to continue :/ 2. I got stuck on the doors a few times — didn't cause me to lose the game, but just worth noting. 3. The back to sleep button at the end of the game doesn't seem to work?

I really liked the pixel-art style! I wish it had been applied to the player's hand as well — felt kind out of place, as did the meteors. While on the topic of visual things, it would be nice if the hole would be 'patched' as soon as you repair it, instead of having to repair all holes in the room before it gets patched. You can also see into other rooms through the holes, as if the rooms didn't have exterior walls (and you can see rooms that you've ejected). Nonetheless, great work! I played through the whole thing.

Onion Ring by Don Fouts 2018-08-14T20:41:41Z

Lovely. Graphics are quite impressive! I will say, the gameplay does feel like it snowballs quite a bit — get the first rice, push them into the edge, odds are you're closer to the next rice than they are. Also, it got hard to see where I was at some points. Perhaps the camera could be at a higher angle?

@ben-oneal, the yellow triangles indicate incoming enemies — though now that I think about it, I can certainly see how it would be confusing (especially considering that they do indeed move with the player). Thanks for playing! As for what happens when the screen fills... to be honest I've yet to live that long.

@nenas: yes, you can hit off-screen enemies.

I love the sounds (though the jump sound is a little weird). Not sure what the red things are... also, is that dino on earth act 3 supposed to be invulnerable?

Commander, We Have a Problem! by Lamossus 2018-08-14T00:29:29Z

I agree, it definitely takes a few tries to get the hang of things. However, it also feels like there's no way to win — maybe if there was a way to reinforce space, or to reclaim collapsed areas. I felt pressured at first, but then I realized that I'd lose regardless of what I did.

@lamossus The new version is much easier, I can almost spend the time to look at the research options :)

The art is quite nice. The music feels a bit off — not quite sure that it fits the feel of "run around until I find it." Speaking of which, my initial impression was that it felt rather aimless, like I was just wandering around in circles.

Collapsing Pontoon by Divinenephron 2018-08-17T22:17:47Z

Quite charming graphics, really. Agree with the other players: there's just not enough content.

Tale of the Bagger: A Love Story by trozen 2018-08-14T19:50:05Z

Hilarious! It's a little bit concerning, seeing what people are buying... why do you need two concrete blocks and a few bags of good stuff? Graphics were very impressive. Props.

Open Wires by sosaddude 2018-08-14T20:37:40Z

The turning is a little bit... jarring. Personally, I just didn't find the game rewarding enough — no positive sounds, only a negative one when you hit the wall. Maybe checkpoints would be nice?

Treasure Room by PatteDeCanaard 2018-08-14T21:08:00Z

Love the concept! Was quite exciting when my movement visibly slowed in high-coin areas. One small tweak: could we have an option to have the sword swing in the direction the character is facing? I know that control scheme does have some restrictions, but I'd personally find it more comfortable. Good work!

King of Bjorp by Colin Doody 2018-08-14T02:26:38Z

This is incredible, especially for 72 hours. The camera moves around a bit much for my tastes. Amazing!

Ranger Danger by Ryan Wickman 2018-08-14T00:19:31Z

Oh no! [Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 5.17.52 PM.png](///raw/036/a1/z/18adc.png)

I will say, this feels very luck-based — it felt like I was just in a random direction, hoping to find the exit before the puzzle became impossible.
