Rage-inducing, yet fun
@shundread it was my mission :)
First off, turning the camera at each rotation is a BIG nono, this will lead only frustration to the player and disorientation. Maybe add some theme sound even a free one on the web to add some peps to the game.
I'd suggest you make the turning a bit easier, but generate a new map each playthrough so that it doesn't become just about memorization.
@anstabo okey, i will try to find something. Thx for help anyway :)
The turning is a little bit... jarring. Personally, I just didn't find the game rewarding enough — no positive sounds, only a negative one when you hit the wall. Maybe checkpoints would be nice?
i find it a bit hard to turn
@max6333 okey, i'm new at this things and don't know how to do good generation :( But i will try to fix this moment, thank u :)
@ben-lee wow, okey. I dont thought about this moments. Thank u for advice, u will do smth :)
Damn, I liked how you made it hard to turn, you want to see what's next, it's easy to restart but so hard to turn ! I liked that kind of dificulty
@zlabya i thought to do this more smooth, but game speed dont allow to do that :(
@sosaddude I think it would be good enough if you just did it the simplest possible way: RNG. You generate a random tunnel lenght, and then you generate whether you turn left or right, just check wheter it is valid(that you don't crash into an earlier passage), if it's not valid, generate again until it is.
@shaddo woooow u understand my vision of this game. It's very pleasantly, thank u very much :)
@max6333 good. Thanks u for help, i'm appreciate that ( really )
I didn't feel camera rotation so bad although a bit confusing the first couple plays. Maybe you could lerp it a little next time so it turns a bit smooth yet fast. Maybe even pause the gameplay for an instant while rotating the camera would also give the player time to think. I'm not sure if it would go well but I'd experiment a bit with that. I'd also have put the story as an introduction before the game start instead of a separate menu item. The game is pretty addictive and fun, nice gameplay. The theme is taken with a grain of salt but I guess It's ok, the character is running after all.
This reminds me of old RPG minigames: the kind that made me stop playing. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: In all seriousness, this is hard. I only managed to get about 6 corners in or so, and he instantaneous camera rotation was really disorienting. I will say that you really succeeded at making a rage-game! Someone with more patience for those kinds of games than I would probably have a really good time.
On a less critical(??) note, I really like the story comic. It got a chuckle out of me.
It's really hard from the start, it lacks one or two levels to heat, the camera that moves suddenly is pretty destabilizing. If it was a little less hard with a retrowave atmosphere it could be nice, so I'm not going very far I do not know if there are surprises.
