Cool art style :)
Very fun, loved the art style and the gameplay. The sound track was really great too. Had issues fitting though some gaps and couldn't find how to get to the bigger enemies. The dash also didn't always go the right way.
I loved the sprite work in this game! The idea is neat, even though it took me a couple of times to figure out that you are supposed to bring enemies' souls back to the burning well. Platforming felt a little bit finicky, especially when you have to climb up the bottom part of the arena, but overall I had a good time playing a couple of rounds!
super cute art style, love the aesthetic
gameplay really couldve benefitted from some standard platformer QOL (mostly coyote time, nice to see the variable jump height), but honestly this didnt impact how enjoyable the experience was overall. very solid entry, good job!
Amazing game! The art is AMAZING! I really have nothing negative to say about this game its top notch! there was just a little bug where the player would spin around if you put the mouse on top of him. I had a ton of fun learning the mechanics and memorizing the map to make new routes!
cool game
Great job with the pixel art. I also liked how the enemies faded out. I wish my attack was more involved. Maybe more like a soul-sucker. Anyway, congrats.
I liked the artstyle and music here (although the audio is mixed very loudly) like others I couldn't figure out how to actually reach the big enemies that were below, maybe something to do with the fuzzy border regions? I was uncertain really, and it took me a bit to figure out the dash! Overall pretty solid!
Cool, classic platformer. Super awesome art - I love the limited colour palette.
The reduced color palette works really well and generally I'd say the artistic direction is a strong point of this game. The combat is not that challenging and I think the souls are pretty easy to outmaneuver, but despite that the game is quite hard. To me the difficulty stemmed from the environment. You need to plan your routes properly and be careful not to get lost and I really enjoyed that aspect of the game. Really liked it.
Loved the art in the game, its very nostalgic
Art was amazing, mechanics were amazing, i might just improve enemy AI a bit and the level design, also I didn't quite understand the timer mechanic, other than that it was awesome!
I enjoyed the game's aesthetic, which is very minimalist and cute. The gameplay was fun, and the music fits the ambiance well! I think the fire could start big and gradually decrease in size as time goes by. Overall, congratulations on the game!
Loved it. This is a nice looking game. Great color palette. Congrats on a great entry!
This game looks AMAZING!! It's fun too, but wow it's hard lol
Game looks great visually and plays well. As a piece of constructive critique, there doesn't seem to be any jump buffer/coyote time for the player's input.
Congrats on getting this out! :)
The visuals and ideas are very good, but I can't find the way, everything else is very good
I like the visual style, it feels nice to dodge while fighting creatures, the sound effects are on point, the music theme is appropriate. overall a sweet game
The idea is quite impressive, it was a pleasure to deliver the souls of the enemies!!
The art style of the game looks very sweet, I also liked the enemies and it was very fun to throw super dash when we jumped.
Very cute game, i had a lot of fun.
Good graphics! I found a bug that could be used for speed running and made it 2x as fun for me, if you dash into a corner of any square it will give you a super jump, which made getting into weird places kind of like a fun challenge
It's soooo sexy styled, art style isn't old.. it's an ANCIENT! And made pretty accurate, bring warm filings childhood. Well done! Thanks!
The dash feels a little awkward to use to me since it uses your current trajectory. It's a bit of a departure from what I've seen in the past. Still, once I got the hang of it I could really use it to my advantage by doing stuff like super jumps. The art style is pretty nice, the music is energetic, and I like how the play area expands! Great job on this game!
the atmosphere is very well put together! it feels dark but i can also feel the light shining (but getting smaller) at the same time! the feeling of desperation is there but gets mixed up with the swiftness of the movement of the protagonist. i loved how this all culminates into the whole experience :3
Fellow gamemaker user :>. Great game except for the minor bugs like the player flickering when the mouse is above them but wasn't a dealbreaker by any stretch
I think this is a unique concept, with a clean and cohesive art style. Cohesive sounds as well. I died fast trying to figure out what to do, but then got pretty far the next time. The minimalist colors really tie it together.
Love the enemy art especially. The movement felt great too, though shift was a little awkward, might have opted for a double jump or something instead. Overall, great work!!
I loved the art style, the music, and the gameplay. I also liked that delivery was part of the gameplay. You did a great job :D
Fun game, very neat pixel art and music.
The dash is pretty huge but I liked it. I just wish I could jump with W instead of space. I did not figure out the souls should be brought back to the fire until I read the instructions.
Great job!
I like the sound design and how it acompanies the artstyle. I'm a massive sucker for dash mechanics in games so thats always a plus. I loved how some souls could be collected through the wall too!
Damn good entry. Loved the presentation as a whole. I'm a sucker for minimalist palletes lol. Although I do have some qualms.
I kinda wish there was some sort of audio indicator for when an enemy was sucked in by you since I found myself wasting a second or so to check whether it was actually dead or not.
The dash was also kind unresponsive at times for me. Take that with a grain of salt since it may have just been my computer acting up, but sometimes the dash wouldn't work. I noticed it was unresponsive when I tried dashing while I was falling after a jump.
I also think that the game really needed a mini map or something along those lines since I did find myself getting lost quite a lot lol. Though again, probably just me failing to learn the layout properly lol.
Regardless, really good entry.
Nice game! I think that overall, this game is pretty good. Good job!
Nice game! The music slaps, and I love that the attack is in tune! I personally wouldn't include a landing sound in a 2d game like this where you jump so often, but it didn't bug me that much. I'm not the most skilled player, so I personally would've benefited from some sort of health pickup/restoration, as I hard trouble getting far enough to attack the leggy souls. Overall, definitely one of my favorites I've played so far this Ludum Dare
I like the characters and the environment very much in this one.
The monsters look good, the ghost-kirby thing with long legs was pretty creepy. I just wish there was more visual hints of them attacking and when the main character gets a hit. Sometimes a ghost would go into me and double hit as I tried to escape the hitbox. There's also this strange glitch when you aim right above yourself with the character just flickering left and right. The same happens when you're just under a ghost. No big deal though.
The soundtrack was good though I missed a few more sound effects for the combat.
Dashing was nice, but I'd rather have another button for going downward, sometimes I'd press it late and drop down by mistake. There could also be an indication for where the fire is. I got a lot of souls once but I couldn't for the life of me find my way back. I felt rapid clicking the attack button got the souls faster, dunno if that's the case or just me.
All in all nice game!
The mood is awesome. Graphics are very cool and so is the color work. I loved the way you hid the edges of the area - pretty and cleaver  The environment is fun to explore and platforming, while it can be challenging under time pressure, is not frustratingly difficult (for which I thank you ).
The music is interesting and fitting. I think it helps create a good tempo of the game. SFX are very juicy! Nicely done.
Besides some texture flickering, I didn't really encounter any bugs. My only complaint is - the "Retry" button doesn't work in browser (Firefox), so I was just reloading the whole page.
Cool game ! I really loved the art style, it fits the mood perfectly. Good job
I enjoyed the retro art style, not just the fact that it's a pixel art game, but the colors
The attention to graphical details in this game is praiseworthy. From the subtle animations to the carefully crafted props, every element adds to the visual richness
The overall gameplay of the game is very smooth, and I really like it. However, sometimes when I play, the characters will flash, and I don't know if the bug is still a feature of the game,I really like your game
Great game, loved the character designs and the expanding play area idea. Felt like there was a slightly odd interaction with the dash, sometimes it didn't seem to do much, but I think I got the hang of it in the end!
