Neat little game! The progression felt really good.
Warning! The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing: Cross Origin Isolation SharedArrayBuffer
The art was really good, it was a fun and interesting game to go through, also the small sound fx were good. :)
The 'Warning! The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing: Cross Origin Isolation SharedArrayBuffer' error happened on itch.io as well.
I love quests. The reloads are scary at first, but then they become rather jarring. Though it is cool that there are objects locked to this basic mechanic.
Great use of the theme, this is a nice escape room experience.
@chillertyp @alpacalypse try the itchio version here: https://guilhermegsousa.itch.io/it-comes-at-midnight
It turned out pretty interesting. Is there any way to save progress in the game? Or progress - the knowledge of the player?
Good quest room experience. Idea to use codes as great!!!
@sofignedova yes the knowledge is the save!
Amazing escape room game, the art is really effective never felt like I had long enough to do things that it wasn't constantly a bit stressful but did manage to escape
@sofignedova exactly! The game can be done in a few seconds if you have all the necessary knowledge. Pretty useful mechanic for a game jam, no need to code a save system :)
@legolula heheheh
Terrifying one, I love it !
I enjoyed this game a lot. The art is really good and the death animation looks amazing. You also made good use of the theme.
This was great. I'm a huge fan of games where the only resource you really need for a playthrough is information and I was really pleased to see that absolutely nothing was retained between the loops. Very clever using time as a narrative device rather than explicitly real life 10 seconds as well, that never really occurred to me during ideation and I appreciate that you took that route - the game was for sure more fun for it!
@caladrius thanks for the comment yes it isnt actually 10s.... its more 25...
@caladrius so glad you liked it! Outer Wilds was a huge inspiration for the time loop mechanic and we really had to cheat a bit on the 10s part, the game would be extremely frustrating with real-time 10s. And time does go slower when you're scared ;)
Great use of the 10 seconds theme (which I personally hate), very cool art and progression is challenging and actually rewarding. very cool. And restarting every 25 seconds while masking it as 10 seconds is a good idea
@legolula Outer Wilds is EXACTLY what I thought of while I was playing it, so you hit the nail on the head. Great job all around!
Cool escape room style of game. Time loop was interesting way of progressing through each puzzle. Good job.
The time loop is interesting, I liked that monster death animation but it maybe felt too long or repetitive at some point (as a player you get the idea, but you have to wait each time and it's out of your control so it feels a bit disruptive)
Great escape room overall! Elle a cherché et trouvé la mort
Loved the eyes animation, really nice! The game was simple but engaging and quite polished, really liked it! The best take of the theme we've played so far.
Fun puzzle, interesting take on the theme. thanks for the game
Great take on the theme an escape room where you have 10 seconds. great art and audio. overall a really nice package and great entry.
Getting a little frustrated, I thought of quitting. Then I thought "I't can't be that long, keep going". Next thing I know, I was at the end. All in all, I enjoyed it. But for what it is, it felt a little too short.
thanks evrybody for the feedback! @c1913 what was the frustrating part, the timer, the puzzles, both? It would be cool to make a longer one maybe 10 min instead of seconds?
I think i am just to small brain for this but i didnt get this game (I wont rate the game low bc the problem obv. lies with we)
The grafics were good tho And im not sure if intendet but the 10 seconds were...slow 10 seconds
@der-finski Its a game where an entity somes at midnight and resets the time back to 23:59:50. I dont want to spoil too much here but your goal is to escape, by finding clues all around you! I'll give you a hint for the first room, there is a code hidden somewhere for the top right door. The controls are: - WASD (or equivalent) to move - SPACE to interact with glowing objects - Left mouse to click on images that sometimes popup
I hope you get to experience the full game, let me know if I can help you do that
Very neat twist! For the first several cycles, I figured this was just a time loop escape room, where touching a clue meant a dead end for the run. I thought "ah alright, that's neat I suppose". After unlocking the first door I started thinking this would be a tight speedrun game with only a few rooms, since in 10 seconds you can only do so much.
But then something clicked for me.
!> I had JUST played Blink the night before, which has a blind navigation mechanic as well. Lo and behold, walking around in the darkness was possible, AND the timer didn't move! I think I ended up beating the game a bit faster than normal, just because that idea was already primed in my brain so it didn't take long to consider it.
So I thought the idea was super clever, and certainly not something you'd see in a real life escape room. Great plot twist that immediately shot this game up several ranks. Great job!
I had SO much fun playing this game! The whole experience was pretty unsettling, there were times early on that I never thought I'd finish it in ten seconds but every round a got a little bit further. The art is great, the sound effects really eery and I can still see those two red eyes! Definitely one of the standout games I've played for this jam, well done!
All the polish to this game is really great. I think it would be better if the theme had been "30 seconds" though.
Pretty fun game! The time loop with knowledge progress was a nice idea and is a good way to fit within the theme. There was a couple visual bugs (ex. player shaking) that I noticed throughout the run but that's to be expected from the short amount of time. It's unfortunately very easy to bypass a part of the game which I ended up doing accidentally when playing.
!> I entered the kitchen immediately after getting into the hallway section since I was doing left doors first then right and that was the first working left door.
Sounds work well with the game though and the visuals are great
this quickly turned into a memory based speedrun game lol. love the aesthetics and the mood, the art style is great too and good old drakula is scary as ever! I found the game to be quite confusing which I guess is to be expected from these kinds of games, has to memorize many things yet still manager to screw things up completely lol great entry!
OMG this is so cool! I love the interesting graphics style and puzzles. It is really strange mansion! But why it can't open in fullscreen?) Nice work!
Very cool game. Visuals and sounds are great, the monster animation when the time's done was so smooth.
Your are the best well done : ) !!
Cool! I really liked it!!
I like it: *Sounds *Well hit the topic of the competition *Cool graphics *Cool screamer!!
I did not like: *It is not very clear what to do and where to go :) *The main character stands out too much from the general style of the game
Gameplay-wise, it's a rather basic escape room puzzle kind of game with only a few simple puzzles (ex. door asks for numcode -> find numcode -> open door), but the 10 seconds (though more like 20 in real time so it wasn't too short I guess) loop bring a nice twist on it. The kitchen door puzzle was also a nice use of the loop.
The graphics are imo the strongest aspect of the game as even if the graphic style itself is maybe not the prettiest or the most complex, what stands out is how each room not only has quite a lot of details but also its own distinct look, making it feel real. Things like the door view and the end screen also were nice addition and the screamer animation was great.
The audio is a bit on the minimalist side as the ambiant music is quite discreet but it's a good fit for a horror game + the screamer build up works very well. But I felt there were quite a lot of SFX missing that could have added a small extra touch, like interacting with the book, opening fridge, trying to open a locked door, etc... as that would have made the audio a bit more lively.
I think the Graphics and Audio contributed very well in putting a horror mood. However I felt that the core mechanic of a loop kinda defeats the horror side, as you're only surprised by the screamer on the first loop, then you know what to expect + the loop not only forces you to try to speedrun things without necessarily taking the time to take a look around much but also means you'll repeat things over and over and spend a lot of time in known area, leaving a lot less room for surprise.
Also, few bugs I've found : - You can move while on the "Wake Up screen", even interact with doors and all. If you were to memorize everything, you could basically just do the whole game without waking up once. - You can resize the sliders in the settings menu (by dragging their left tip), don't think that's really intended.
Really cool animation and scary mood! The art style is pretty dope!
The death animation is so well done! Gathering info through different runs give off Death Loop vibes. Good job!
nice level design (there wasn't any backtracking so it was pleasing)! the death animation is SO cool< and the all environment overall! well done
Really liked the design of the game. Flowed nicely and a lot of the scenes were detailed nicely to understand what was going on. Felt I could progress every time and since by nature you would have to reset a lot, I am glad the end animation wasn't jarring or made a loud jump scare type noise. Overall was a very well-done game and shows a good amount of polish for a jam game.
