Fun little platformer. Cute art style with good music. Mechanics got introduced over time, which is always a plus. Overall great submission!
Very fun game, my time was 11:11:67. I particularly liked how the music evolved between levels. Having the exact percentage remaining in the game's window was also a nice touch, as it kept it out of the way but still made it easily accessible.
I don't really have any complaints, but for the sake of sounding insightful, I think that jumping and hitting the ceiling might make the players downward momentum increase a bit too sharply.
Also, while not necessarily related to the game itself, I love the game page, especially the screenshots.
It was fun! I beat it also in around 11 minutes. The batteries' capacities were a bit harsh, especially in the first few levels. I liked the simple artstyle and music, very cool game ^^
I like this game, got stuck on level 3
Hi nice entry, I was 0:8:6:25. Its supersatisfying to run into finish almost black. Really cool moment. Platformer movement is ok, maybe the unending dash (again, again, again, ...) should be removed. For me it was 9 minutes well spent.
music is awesome. only complaint is character felt either too slow or really slidey though but otherwise this is a great job
Loved it! The graphics were great and the mechanics were fun. I loved the concept of keeping the screen from dimming. I do think the battery was a little too unforgiving, but that's just an opinion. The audio also had some clicks in it. Fantastic job!
@goldenevolution: Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
@stevenjmiller: I'll definitely look into physics after hitting the ceiling if I make a post-jam version, thanks for the suggestion!
@suchista: Nice, 11 minutes is pretty good! I definitely regret making the first few levels (especially level 3) as hard as I did, but thanks for taking the time to complete it!
@kdgame: Thanks for taking the time to play the game! I made level 3 a bit too hard, and a lot of people I've talked to have gotten stuck there, so you're definitely not alone.
@manimal: 8 minutes is a great time! The unending dash is definitely something I'd have to nerf in a future version, but it has made speedrunning more interesting (especially when combined with sprint). Thanks for playing!
@tylerstraub: Thanks! I'll try to tweak the physics if I make a future version.
@ anonymous: Since you're anonymous I can't tag you, but I'm trying to respond to everyone, so thanks for playing! I'll tone down the battery timer a bit for the first couple of levels for sure in a post-jam version.
Awesome game! Really enjoyed completing that, really great design in the adding of mechanics during progression. Initially I thought that the batteries were just a light source so I thought I'd be allowed run on in the dark and guess my way with sounds? But then later I got the impression that the battery is somehow charging me. Still unsure. Nonetheless, loved playing this, awesome experience!
Fun little game here! I absolutely loved the retro music mixed with real instruments :flushed: My record was around 6 minutes, I swear I wasn't trying to speedrun it xD
Fun! I think the goal was a tiny bit confusing, I was expecting the battery pickups to increase the screen battery percentage. Once I figured out you just need to collect the battery and make it to the end, it felt pretty good! Controls didn't feel as precise as they could, but it was very playable. Nice work! Loved the screen and sound dimming together - a great concept!
The game froze on my tenth or so attempt at level 8, but I enjoyed the experience up to then! The graphics are quite nice. I think the controls could be improved. Some sense of acceleration or momentum might be nice, as might creating segments of levels that require precise motions to get through - I just never got the sensation that I was going fast or accomplishing something really tricky, which would be really nice to have in a game like this. I liked the music quite a lot.
Excellent game! I really enjoyed it and I found myself trying harder to reach the next level. It was just difficult enough to "just make it" to the end of the level while not being easy.
Super fun platformer. Music is excellent and definitely the highlight of this game for me. I also liked how the game itself got dimmer when the battery depleted, instead of having a generic timer or counter at the top. Little effects like those really added to that urgent feeling of getting to the next level. Great job!
I liked it! Art style is minimalistic, but cute. The music creates interesting mood :)
Nice game. The art style is pleasing to the eye, the music fits the game, controls also fills good. Great job!
Super cool game, great platformer!
Excellent game! It was challenging yet fun, and I loved the graphics and evolving soundtrack. I never ran out of power and the run ability seemed a bit useless, but it was great otherwise! Finished it in slightly more than 6 minutes.
Controls were a bit hard to reliably use, for the first half of the game I was using wasd shift and control (which was all on one hand, and really hard to coordinate), but on the second half I realised I could use arrows and zx, which helped sooo much. I just didn't know the other option existed, and I wish I'd known sooner.
On a more positive note, I really enjoyed the game, nice pixel graphics, and I was very impressed by the changing music in each level. The levels were great, I'm just not sure that the dimming screen added much to the game. Overall a great little platformer!
Really inspiring!! I played for quite many times. The idea and the description are very illuminating. Make me think of more possibilities on the theme. One small suggestion would be switch jumping key to "SPACE". Great game overall. Love to know what you think of my entry
Really, really good entry. My time was 5 minutes and something, maybe I will try to improve. Great job. 5/5 for music.
Wow that's a great little platformer, the dimming is a great little time mechanic which really gives the game a good sense of pace, it feels really good and I love the progressive music, I tried to do that in my game but in the end my level was so short most people wouldn't notice, but you made the game a really good length.
Niiiiiiiice. I really enjoyed it. 7:48 is my score. I can't really find anything wrong with the game.
Maybe just that some of the later levels felt a bit easier than one of the previous ones, but that's probably very dependent on the player.
Also, removing the current state from the window title would be better so that the fadeout creates pressure for the player.
In any case, well done. Nice game.
@zabaman Thanks for playing! The minimal instructions for dashing and sprinting were put it in about half an hour before submission, so I should have put a lot more focus in making things clear, especially the battery's finish.
@purrsum I'm glad you liked the music, thanks! Also, six minutes is a really fast time, so great job!
@keanutah Yeah, the battery was definitely confusing in hindsight, thanks for letting me know!
@meelo Hmm... I'm not sure why the game would have froze, but thanks for playing until level 8 (that's the last level, so you basically finished!) I think when developing the game, I focused too much on the speedrunning portion of it, and made the standard walking too slow and rigid, so I agree that some momentum and acceleration could helped in normal gameplay.
@rich I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
@thewinrawr Thanks, I definitely spent a lot of time on the music so I'm happy to hear it turned out well!
@alex457 Thank you, glad to hear you liked it!
@zimny11 Thanks, I'm happy to hear you liked the art and music!
@frogman 6 minutes is a great time, thanks for playing!
@yonman Thank you!
@justcamh I think my biggest regret was leaving WASD/shift/ctrl as controls in the game, since arrow keys/z/x are way easier, so I'm glad to hear you figured that out halfway through! Thanks for playing!
@morandigame Wow, I'm glad to hear you liked it! In a post-jam version I'll definitely add space for jump as an option, thanks for the suggestion!
@exewin Thanks, I'm glad to hear you liked the music! Also, 5 minutes is an amazing time!
@weirdybeardyman Thank you, I'm happy to hear you liked the progressive music and dimming mechanic! I'll make sure to check out your game soon!
@kaisean-games That's a good score, thanks for playing! If I make a post-jam version, I'll definitely try to balance out the level difficulty! I hadn't thought about removing the battery percentage, but you actually make a great point about creating pressure. Thanks for all the suggestions!
Nice platformer, hitboxes and gameplay are perfect, The screen darkens too fast I think... But really nice game good job !
I made it to 'Thanks for Playing'! Fun platformer to speed through. I liked the running and dashing mechanics. Great entry!
I really liked what you did with the music, building up on the last level's theme to build momentum and tension in the next one, on top of having really well composed and mixed pieces on top of that. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite gel with the game - the player's movement had just a bit too much momentum, the platforms were just a bit too small, the level layout was just a bit too awkward. I kept thinking this game would be a speedrunner game like Super Meat Boy and that I could clear two obstacles at once if I just made a really tight maneuver, but my jump was always just low enough that I would hit the corner of the box instead, or my dash was so long that I would breeze into a pit of spikes. I also think the first level had too narrow of a margin for error that, while certainly providing the thrill of a last-second victory, was too intense for someone who was just started the game, and would be better suited for the third or fourth level after the player had gotten acclimatized to the controls.
The use of dash and run is pretty clever, I really like the graphics and music. Overall a really solid game :D
Cool game. It was a bit difficult in the beginning .
Great game! Fun to play! Like the music and sounds. Cool entry. Congrats...
Clean graphics, great game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/HbpVWKRHlfc
I like the game. The gameplay is smooth, and the dash is fun. However, by far the best part is the music. Absolutely terrific!
@lorwon Thanks for playing! I definitely should have spent more time balancing how quickly the screen dims, so thanks for letting me know!
@boxedmeatrevolution Congrats on making it to the end, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@niterich It definitely seems like the first couple of levels are too hard, thanks for letting me know. If I make a post-jam version, I'll definitely tweak the physics and try and do make it possible to clear several obstacles at once -- it definitely seems like that would be more fun! Thanks for playing!
@nihushu Thank you, I'm happy to hear you liked it!
@tgiant I definitely agree that the first couple of levels are too hard, thanks for playing!
@bulent-altinay Thanks, I'm glad you liked the music!
@jupiter-hadley Thanks for doing this every competition, it's always a lot of fun to see people play my game!
@jojo-the-clown I'm happy to hear you liked the music, thanks for playing!
Great puzzle platformer! 💜 I like the chunky pixels and the audio. Ramps up well as these games should with the new mechanics and so on. Controls feel very good. The added element of the battery is a great addition to this kind of game! Feels overall very polished and complete with the little screens between levels, the reset button and so on. Solid game! 💪
