Very beautiful game, the singed music made me smile :)
Very pretty game and I think you've hit on something here with great commercial potential, to match its artistry. A little clunky gameplay here and there doesn't distract from the overall feel of what comes across as a fairly polished game, with a well-executed concept. Great job!
lmfao this end, genius, fun game, best sound effect ever done ; gg
Waw! this sounds and musics xD So hard to focus on the game cause the sounds made me laught so hard :p
Grahics are beautiful, and it's very fun to play.
I really enjoy playing your game.
The best compo I played on LD41 for the moment.
Ha, I saw a little issue :
LD41_pinboy_graphics_pb.PNG
Edit : Why are you 2 people for a compo game ? @colleen9416 @sh-torrent
Really good idea. The ball gets too much impulse making harder to control the ball. The graphics are great it's the strength of the game ! The sounds are fun and cute, but need to rework when the are emitted, for example, every time I hit a house the same sound (and important sound) appears, loud and clear, this make this sound from now on, a bit annoying. I would like to see more of this project.
Congratulations!
Gorgeous game!. Love your music and graphics.
This looks awesome, but, don't shoot the messenger, I think a game made by more than 1 person must be submitted to Jam instead of Compo.
I really like the visuals and the idea isn't bad either, sure you have to deal with the usual pinball luck, but this one handles it pretty neatly
Music and b-box here, glad to see everybody love the game ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
Music and b-box here, glad to see everybody love the sound ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
@harusame @gastricsparrow Sorry guys! We are new here to publish the game. Now we have changed it to the right category.
Great idea! I love your graphics and the sound effects! only one thing, if the game pause when I am reading the dialogue, I think the gameplay will be smoother. However, I am not sure is it one of your design, if it is, then that's also fine.
Cool graphics style and i like the concept.
I'm not sure if the skill of boss is easy to understand. So we give the tips ^-^.
@satanos So glad to hear that you like it! @darby-costello Thank you very much of your high praise! We are updating the boss battle and hope you like it
@harusame So happy you like this game! We are repairing this issue and polishing the boss battle. Hope you can try the new version.
@narudgi You got this game's spirit! XD
@le-slo So happy to hear you like this game! About the sound, we think this performance is very funny so we keep it. As long as we add the game content, we will change the sound and make it less annoying. In the next version, we will polish the boss battle and hope you enjoy it!
@brillie-phan Very glad to hear that you like it!
@darkonius-mavakar You are absolutely right. We found that is very difficult to balance the pinball luck and the RPG's control. So we add the performance of the RPG's tasks system to make it more clearly. You can try it when we upload the new version!~~~ XD
@goldranger thank u for loving our game^_^we thought a bumping dialogue is very COOOOOOOOOL and it is exactly our design~
If you like multiplayer game, you could spend some time try our game and leave some comments :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/life-and-death
@Colleen9416 oh dang! I didn't realize that! I always skip the dialogue as fast as I can because I am afraid it will fall through it! now I can enjoy the plot haha sorry about that🤣🤣
This is the creative stuff I love. So original and fun. One of the best entries I've seen :-)
I can't see any flaws I could point out in your game. What a great little, polished experience. I could see it becoming a successful commercial release (though while I do appreciate your approach to music and it made me laugh on more than one occasion, it would probably have to go if you decided to build the game further:P ). One of the best LD games I've played so far. 5/5 in most categories. Great job!
Amazing game, the sound design and music are hilarious. Great use of the theme. I really like the way dialogs block character from falling. Boss was a bit hard, but I did it, though I never understood the meaning of me being "frozen"(blue hairs, snowflake icon). It's a very good entry, I am surprised you didn't get much rating yet.
What an adventure! I totally agree with the others regarding the quality of the game. This one is super polished. It even had an epic final boss fight. AND a plot twist. *Not gonna spoiler it here*
The elemental thing was a neat touch, but it was mostly useless imo.
About the sound: Hilarious.
Thank you for this game.
Oh my god, this is absolutely amazing ! I love everything from the homemade musics to the gameplay ! I would love to see a longer version of this game, it might be the best entry so far
I love pinball games (big fan of pokemon pinball here) and I'd have to say that the ball may be too fast. Plus the fact that I can't maintain my left pedal up and the lack of a way to hit the pinball when my ball's stuck (yes, my ball did get stuck), I can't say the controls are perfect. Oh and also. It may just be me but the game is so big I can't see the whole pinball at the same time on my screen and that's really really annoying.
It didn't prevent me from enjoying the adventure! The graphics are really cute, the sounds are... well. Quite funny even if it's not my cup of tea. I'll definitely try again to kill that final boss and see what happens after that!
@ryunos We update the web version you can try this one! The resolution is more comfortable. And really sorry for the stuck :( we will fix it as soon as possible.
@Colleen9416 Well I did try the web version. For the stuck, my ball was stuck hitting one of the houses on the second level. It was just boucing on it in a perfect vertical movement. There is nothing you can do to prevent it, that's why I suggested a way to hit the pinball so that could not happen anymore.
When the music played, I LOLed. Thanks for the game.
I loved it, I wish it was longer. Music is hilarious, I'm just listening it in the background 🤣 The only thing that bothered me a little bit is the game physics, that could be a bit more realistic but I managed to finish it so it's nice.
__Fun__ I usually like pinball games, this time it was no different. A few minor points: The ball was sometimes super fast and would cross the screen in a matter of frames, I suggest adding some friction (also for the rotation, it was spinning like crazy). I would like to see some casting time and duration because those mirror things could easily eat up two lives because of bad timing (maybe it was there, but I didn't see it). At times I lost a heart, but I wasn't sure why, is the ice storm causing that? Finally the response time of the flippers seemed a bit low, but it could also just be me. But I have to admit that those points barely have an impact on the score, and I mostly mention them because I want to give you some points for improvment. Very well done! __Innovation__ I'm not sure if there is much to innovate on the retro game of pinball, though I did like the little story that you guys created, with multiple levels. So You guys did a decent job on that.
__Theme__ I guess most (cool) pinball try to have some kind of story, so I'm not entirely sure if there were really two genres, definitely not incompatible ones. But like I said the story was really nice, much better than the average.
__Graphics__ I loved the clean graphics. They also worked really well with the pinball mechanics with hard lines around stuff that bounces back. Only point is that I'm personally not a fan of rotating pixel graphics, but a very minor point and easily forgiven in a jam.
__Audio__ I think the audio is really well done technically, personally I'm not a fan of the style because it gets repetitive for me quickly. But again, it's a jam and its not a big thing and I try to rate using my head and not my opinion.
__Humor__ I did like the little fetch quest. It was pretty funny. Also it fits the overall aesthetic of the game.
__Mood__ The game was really happy and it made me a bit happier too, so props for that.
__Overall__ I have nothing to add. In short I think this is a very solid Jam entry, well polished and fun to play.
First of all, the music is A+, i like the part that says "ahhh-ahhh-AHHHHHHH", I made me laugh, moving on, graphics is very fitting with the game and style. I am a fan of pinball games and this is a very interesting take on it, definitely one of the more good looking games for LD41, great job!
**Loooooove that art!**
Super adorable, silly, fun, and also super polished for a game jam game! VERY nice. I did find the music to be a bit repetitive after a while, but it was a good laugh and mood setter at the beginning!
Gotta say, had a LOT of fun with this one! First off, the artstyle is FANTASTIC. Fell in love with it instantly! Gameplay, while simple, was otherwise functional and a hoot to play! It's a shame that the exposition sections skip over so fast, would've liked to read through the 'lore' for shits and giggles! Oh, and the music... magnifique! Certainly had a blast, despite its short length. Save for a few tiny, insignificant gripes, this is one of the best ones I've played so far. Good job!
So far the funniest thing I have played. The music is amazing and I was constantly laughing during my whole game play. You really made my day! Perfect job guys! Amazing
Funiest game I've played in the jam. That audio is definetly top notch, especially once the epic sax guy started to sound. 5/5 for everything. Worth it.
initial reaction- ohh god the sounds 10 seconds later- HELL YEAH THE SOUNDS!!! The graphics are super pleasant the sound effects are just 100/10 best of the best i've heard amazing xD
very fun simple and enjoyable game, smooth and didn't find any bugs xD well done, had a great time playing it. Have nothing to advice on / suggest honestly, i think this is a great game overall
I really wanted to like this game but it highlights the main thing I don't like about Pinball... it's almost impossible to aim. That said, it looks great and sounds great so you still get good marks :D
what are you guys waiting for? SHIP IT!!
Great artwork and audio on this one, but the pinball physics feel really wonky. It seems more like the ball is sliding instead of rolling, and the bounces are often way weaker or way stronger than you'd expect. I even managed to get stuck on one level because the ball was bouncing perfectly up and down on an obstacle.
Btw, not sure if you've heard of it, but you should check out Rollers of the Realm, which was a fully-fledged game based on the "pinball + rpg" concept.
Your game looks and sounds awesome! Very good mix of genres, use of the theme.
Art is gorgeous probably my favorite of the games I reviewed. Great take on the theme pinball with rpg like quests is not something I would expect to ever work. The sounds I didn't like but thats just a personal prefrence, also I got stuck on the level it just kept bouncing on the house and it was impossible to progress(screenshot)

I've played Rollers of the Realm before but you integrated the RPG/story aspect much better than they did. It felt a lot more like a quest than a pinball game that happened to have level ups and upgrades. Amazing polish to the game even if the pinball flippers had some oddities to it (like holding down a button). I think it's great you explored more RPG tropes with this game, please keep it up!
I agree with some of the other sentiments that the actual pinball part of this was more of a chore than anything.
But, the graphics are amazing, sound is hilarious and it's a great take on the theme. I especially love the small touches put into everything, like the textbox being used to bounce the ball around while you are reading. The end music is also great too :) Great job!
This game is really fun, especially the audio. I wonder why the authors deliberately choose the sound from those three types of animals: cat, dog and frog. For cat and dog, it make sense. They might be cat and dog lovers. Why frog?
One more thing, I played the game on a laptop and I only saw the bottom half of the game UI. Completed it anyway. Nice work! Totally made my day!
