Really good game, the atmosphere is very pleasant and it's really nice to think about the different puzzles. I was sad it's so short...

Really good game, the atmosphere is very pleasant and it's really nice to think about the different puzzles. I was sad it's so short...
Completed the game. Very nice puzzle, well-made and polished. The only thing that seemed strange to me, that bombs explode in the real-time while everything else is turn-based. Runs a bit slowly on my PC, but it's the Unreal thing, I suppose. Graphics are clear and pleasant. Pretty enjoyable overall. Thanks!
I love little puzzle games. They always find a new way of doing something old.
Well done. The overall is really polished and the gameplay works perfectly. In my opinion the difficulty is right for a Game Jam entry.
Nice puzzle game, a bit short as it ends just after introducing the unbreakable blocks. I really love the minimalism though.
Thank you to everyone that played so far. I know the game has only 7 levels, but I didn't have time to make more during the jam. On the plus side, people want more levels, which is a good thing, I think.
I didn't want to put up a version with more levels after the jam though, it felt like cheating, I only added some missing effects that didn't alter the original version too much. I am definitely going to put out more levels later.
I love this game so much. I dont know why it just feels and looks right!
Nice little polished game, easy to pick up and a lot of fun whilst having some difficulty in the later levels that makes you stop and think.
This look like a game that could go on mobile ! It just needs artistic direction and you've got a nice game ! This can really be expanded in term of game design !
Great Work !
Nice game, the idea is nice and can be developed further in my opinion. Great aesthetics and good sound effects.
As for @mr-chelnoque, it runs a little laggy on my laptop. I don't know if it can be related to performances, but smashing buttons quickly get my character in a state in which it is positioned in the middle of two tiles: the games continue to work correctly most of the times, but it's hard to tell in which tile the player is.
I gave this a 5 in mood because I just absolutely love all the little details and effects, the audio and the general feedback. The game lagged a bit on my laptop but it isn't very high end (I did play the post-jam version).
I definitely like the idea of this landscape serving a dual purpose, it's partly what you use to get to your goal, but it's also partially what you aim to destroy, and those two conflict, and that's what makes the game interesting. Perhaps building off of that further could add more depth and strategy here!
I loved the details and effects. The audio was just great and I loved it. I also loves how the animation looked like and over all, I think this was a A+ game! Well done.
Nicely polished game! I had a bug where one of the levels would consistently crash my video driver after a short time (I think it was level 4?) but I got to see enough of the game to get a sense of it. Solid, minimalistic art style. Moving and setting off bombs felt great!
Cool aesthetics! The animations were very juicy :) I liked how much atmosphere you managed to pull off with a minimalist art style.
Absolutely superb sound design. Like, wow. Everything was simple, stylish, and professional.
A really elegantly simple puzzle game! Even though it just a few shapes, the entire game feels really polished: from the character animation, glow effect around the bomb/explosion, and the sound effects (jumping on tiles feel really satisfying). Also, I like how the mechanics ramp up through the levels, just wish there were more!
One small nitpick I have is that I got confused a little bit when moving the character: since the game is isometric, and needs to be moved with WASD, I sometimes move in the wrong direction from where I expect to move. I had to keep a conscious effort on the directions to make sure I knew which direction was up/down/left/right.
Overall, great concept and execution. With more levels, this would make an amazing puzzle game!
@wildmusketeer - Thanks man! That's high praise. I totally agree with the camera issue. I already programmed a shitty camera pan during the jam, I wasn't happy with it though and just replaced it with a simple LookAt to get a more visually pleasing angle - with the downside of excatly this issue. Not really sure what the best solution is, but I will try around a bit more with the camera.
Thanks again to everyone for playing and taking the time to leave a comment, I really wanna apologize for the performance issues. I packaged the game using the highest rendering settings with no optimization and no time for an options menu.
**A quick fix for performance issues** (not very user-friendly):
- Open console (Using `^` or `INSERT`) - type: `r.ScreenPercentage 65` - the `65` stands for the percentage of the window resolution - you can go even lower if you need to. - If that isn't enough, you can also type in `sg.PostProcessQuality 1`.
Those two values have very high impact on the gpu performance, that should help to make it playable on low end notebooks.
Nailed the feel on this - all those tiny touches were much appreciated! The way the character gets thinner when it hops, the way the blocks depress underneath, even the text at the bottom tween-overshoots into position!
The sound was on point, too, and really made the space feel real.
And of course the puzzles and lack of explicit tutorial were well designed.
Very strong all-around entry! I hammered on the controls after beating it and tried to find some awkward corner case, but everything felt slick. Great job.
A very satisfying game, with plenty of feedback for everything I did. Sonic design was a standout player. The visuals, albeit spartan were easy on the eyes. Only complaint I have, was that it was too easy for me. All in all a solid submission. Great Work :D
The simple visuals and overall design are pleasant. The gameplay was also intuitive and easy to figure out with little prompting. I enjoyed solving the bomb puzzles and did have to try a few times on a couple of them. I also like the use of the sound effects to not only make it more exciting but to know how long until it explodes.
I think that the game should end after the last level and not repeat however.
Overall 5 Stars! Super cool art style and game deign. Really great job on UX too!~ Love it!
Very cool puzzle game. Love the mood and audio.
Hey denny, finally got to reviewing your game :P Love the animation, reminds me of [the12principles](http://the12principles.tumblr.com/) and it makes it really convincing. Everything was really well polished, character movement, object reactions, UI and all :) Tutorial was great for introducing game concepts but I just wish there were more levels!
The design is really polished here, given how simple the assets are. The cone to indicate which direction the player is facing is helpful. The animations of the blocks and explosions and accompanying sounds are satisfying. The designs of the floor tiles match their purposes, and help the player intuit what they do. The puzzle difficulty was good and had a good progression -- I didn't solve them immediately, but I never got frustrated.
I was a little confused when the game looped at the end. I thought that maybe it was a bug, or I had messed something up. Also, I didn't get how this connected to the theme much.
Cool game, and I think it could be very good if fleshed out with more levels and more detailed assets. There's some excellent puzzle and UI design in here.
@fpwong Hey, thanks for giving it a go! :D As stated above, I ran out of time for new levels and decided not make new ones until after the judging period is over. I didn't want to alter the actual game too much before that - it felt like cheating
@issac Thanks for playing and taking the time to comment. Regarding the game levels looping: I simply didn't have time to set up a menu or an end game screen. I decided to make it loop because it was easiest and just worked bug free out of the box. I know it is confusing. Regarding the theme: my original idea was to start with a small world and the goal was to destroy all of it while being able to reach the starting point after that. The design on that didn't really work out, so I transitioned to the crystal thing.
Linux / Mac builds please?
Hi! Loved the mood of the game, the sounds and the puzzle design - I think they were very smart (not very difficult but well-thought). Good job :)
Perfect graphics and sound effects. Very unique experience. Looks like a clean and modern Bomberman with puzzle aspects. I'd definitely play more levels.
@jason-kennedy Hey, I can't build for Mac, since I don't own one. I can look into building for Linux though. Maybe I have some time today and can make it happen. No promises though :)
Its simple and elegant game! its entertaining and beautiful. Good job ^^
A great game. The lighting and the bouncing block physics made your game look complete even with the simplest mesh. And the elements in the game were presented in a well thought out order that I had no trouble figuring out what everything does. For a team who also make a puzzle game, we respect your work. Good Luck!
great work congr. the best game a playew here
