| Apr 19 21:40:04 | The Mage And The Assassins | ♥ 1 | Damn, what an amazing idea and game!! I love the limited color palette, the epic music - I'm honestly so envious of your ability to make ALL of the assets in time for the jam, AND also a great game on top of that fshjfsf x) This game really knows how to keep you on your tippy-toes, you never have even a millisecond to breathe and think about your next move, but since the controls all feel very natural, this leads to a seamless flow as soon as you understand the mechanics. One thing I didn't understand is that the "ranged ghosts" seemed to only attack when they were really close to the enemies they were targeting, even though they did shoot projectiles. Or maybe I just didn't understand how they worked. It was also hard to distinguish between each kind of enemy and ghost, since they are all the same color. Having the 2 kinds of enemies and corresponding ghosts have matching colors could be a nice QOL change! I'd also like to have clearer feedback when one of my ghosts have died, or of how many I have on me, since they were very fragile and sometimes I would spawn one and they would immediately die without me realizing I wasn't protected. Nevertheless, after quite a long time of clearing enemies and getting to all the portals, getting to the end is *gloriously* satisfying, which is my favorite part of hard games like this! The synth guitar solo at the end is a nice reward lol! Amazing job once again!! void2.png | |
| Apr 19 23:34:42 | 1h 54m | Good Night! Sleep with the Demon! | ♥ 1 | Aww! This was nice. Cute graphics and music, extremely simple mechanics, very easy and short, feels like something that would be a minigame within another game. Though it's a very realistic project scope for a game jam ^^' I would have liked some feedback when I get the sheep right, so that I knew straight away that I was playing correctly, and so that the action feels better. Not a lot I can say really, it's a cute lil game. Also the game over screen is pretty funny jkfdj shoop.png |
| Apr 20 21:59:07 | 22h 24m | Hat vs Evil | ♥ 1 | The art is quite rough, but that insane title screen actually made me laugh lol Anyway, I LOVE this!! This is like, a much more chill approach to a tower defense game. Since you can't lose, it becomes more like an incremental game: you just keep creating new defenses and collecting drops to see how far you can make the numbers go up. I actually got to the ending without even realizing there *was* an ending, just because I was so hooked on the gameplay loop! x) I imagine creating this must have been a lot of fun. If anything, I just think maybe this would have been better as a mouse-only game. Moving the hat around and selecting stuff felt a bit awkward, and I always mis-selected stuff while I was moving. Also it would be nice to be able to close the summoning popup without actually having to summon something. I think this could actually be killer as an idle game, very satisfying, I almost didn't want it to end. 😅 Very good job! hatevil.png |
| Apr 20 23:16:07 | 1h 17m | Evocation | ♥ 2 | This was definitely a weird little experience !! The graphics were great - cartoony but ominous, the rune minigame was super easy but added a bit of extra style to the game. The atmospheric music was quite nice, though I don't understand why there were random sounds in the background, like breathing, opening bottles, and banging on the mic, that one in particular always frightened me and took me out of the experience x') The story was interesting and well written, I was invested in knowing what was going on. Not sure if I understood everything, apparently it's a country that's being bombed, and I seem to have real superpowers that are either very useful or very dangerous. Throughout the game, because of the creepy inner thoughts, and that all my interactions with other people or objects ended in destruction, I thought I was supposed to be an evil spirit. Though in the end, even though I pushed the debris into the person, the ending still seemed to treat me as these people's saving grace somehow. That's morbid, considering how I killed basically everyone I encountered in my first run! :v I also got the raven ending, which felt pretty good! Finally a secret in a game that I actually managed to solve lol Anyway, if nothing else, I'm surely gonna remember this one! cheri.png |
| Apr 21 02:30:39 | 3h 14m | Bugs VS Bugs | ♥ 2 | First of all, congrats on your first compo! ^^ This one was a doozy. Before I get into it, the whole design of the game is quite nice. I like the almost pen-and-paper like aesthetic, and the soothing music, even though it seemed to play only once and then stop. x) I also don't really understand why you have to spawn 3 clusters of bugs instead of allowing me to only spawn one, but that's okay. The unsummon circle also didn't seem to follow my mouse correctly at the bigger zoom levels until I hovered over the planet. Now, while the game is quite relaxing and simple, I feel that the compo time limit may have been a bit of a problem... I had so many bugs (heh) while playing that I just have to share my experience: My strategy was to just spawn as many bugs as possible every turn, and send them all together to each cluster of enemies one at a time. I usually managed to beat the enemies in seconds, which meant I'd have to wait quite a while until the minute passed so that more enemies would spawn. Maybe spawning enemies after each round has been totally killed would have been better. After a while, innevitably I ran out of bugs. There was nothing I could do besides wait for the enemies to slowly get to my planet and start attacking it. However, as soon as a single hit of damage was done to my earth, suddenly I jumped from 0 to 700 health! That breathed new life into the game since now I was completely OP! xD I was spawning so many bugs that the game was even lagging! Captura de tela 2024-04-20 230130.png Then, at about 8:00, I spawned all my bugs in the center to protect my earth, and the collision glitched out and the earth flew off the map! I couldn't find where earth was, and all the enemies started going up towards infinity. Captura de tela 2024-04-20 230811.png So now, with no planet, I had no way to finish the game! ;w; After killing all my remaining bugs, my final stats were 18:30 minutes survived, and 2183 kill points. Even though I had so many bugs, this actually made the game more fun for me, it kinda turned into an incremental game! Just watching my bugs absolutely annihilate the other bugs was very satisfying. Anyway, I'm sure this game didn't turn out how you wanted, but in the end this is still very unique and charming! I managed to find my own fun, and that's pretty neat! x) bugs.png |
| Apr 21 03:01:17 | 30m 38s | Dicey Demons | ♥ 6 | Perfect entry. I didn't understand at first what strategy could be made around just throwing dice, but as the game progressed and I unlocked different kinds of summons, it clicked! Even though the battle mechanic is based on luck, the way you build your bag does influence the outcome of your battles significantly. Once I got that, I was immediately hooked. Beautiful graphics, catchy music, simple controls, this team seriously manages to surprise me every time! Only thing I could complain about is that... after getting through 10 rounds, losing to the final boss due to, literally, the roll of a die, doesn't feel very nice 😅 Though that only motivated me to try again another time, maybe I should take better advantage of the extra roll dice. axoi.png |
| Apr 21 03:14:06 | 12m 49s | Echos of Players Past | ♥ 1 | OHH COME ONNNN THIS IS GENIUS!!!!! GHAGHGGH WHAT A GOOD ENTRY!!!!!!! The graphics and music are so cute! The way each character represents one track of the full song is so creative! The puzzles are simple yet inventive! Getting to play around with other people's playthroughs adds a good amount of unintentional comedy as the characters unintentionally kill you a bunch of times until you find that perfect match lol! I can't begin to comprehend how you even managed to make this work. This is the best game I played so far based on sheer creativity! |
| Apr 21 14:30:44 | 11h 16m | Occultris | ♥ 4 | This is a really nice idea! As other people have said, the winning strategy ends up being to just spam everything without thinking, because everything you can put in your summon is good, so there's no reason not to! x3 I think this could have worked better as a deck-builder kind of game, where you can build a strategy around specific kinds of runes. I also think it'd be very important for the runes to have drawbacks, like, maybe one rune is *really* good against one type of enemy, and really bad against all the others, so you have to be more strategic as to where they go. Cus right now, since all the runes are boosts, you can just stack them up forever and make your monster really OP with no thought. Maybe another way to combat this would be to have a price associated with each rune, maybe with something like mana, that regenerates over time, or when you beat another monster, idk just throwing out ideas! As it stands, the game is still really polished and feels nice to play |
| Apr 21 14:52:26 | 21m 42s | Parsley | ♥ 3 | HOW is everyone getting home so fast??? 😠I feel like a dumbass! ;w; Could never get below 24 seconds cus of that annoying black cat in my way grrrr. Anyway!! What a cute lovely game!! The aesthetics remind me a lot of old Windows demo games, especially those grey dialog boxes for some reason. The sounds were satisfying. Running around to catch prey also felt great, though the collisions, running speed and jump arc were very wonky. The game is so short though that it didn't end up being an annoyance. This game really feels like you're embodying a cat, with all their weird social rules around other cats and whatnot, and also how they drop everything they're doing to get food. The prey counter not mattering in the end, ends up playing up this idea lol. Really fun, good job! |
| Apr 21 15:16:10 | 23m 44s | Dance Dance Evocation | ♥ 1 | That was pretty creative! I was verrry confused at first, mostly because that pretty hard to read font + the green demon thing covering up the text + the fact it mostly looked like lore, made me think all the text wasn't important, but when I realized the monster descriptions were clues on how to spawn them, the game got a lot more charming! x) I managed to spawn all the big monsters and won pretty easily after I learned how to play. The text in the victory screen makes me think that maybe there's another ending and there's something I'm missing? But I'm pretty happy with my ending. My main critiques are that the book should have a more readable font, and also that you should show the instructions *before* the book itself, since that confused me quite a bit. I didn't know what was important to the game and what was just story. Also, a sound or visual feedback when you get an arrow right would go a long way making this feel more juicy. Overall great job! |
| Apr 21 15:32:34 | 16m 24s | Re5ummon Me! | ♥ 0 | This feels like a game that could be really good with a lot more polish! It was pretty difficult to understand throughout. All I know is that my cards attack the other cards, they have abilities, and sometimes they change into another card in my deck. Though, I don't know what is causing the cards to change mid-battle, and I'm not sure what "desperation" does. My strategy consisted of clicking random stuff in the stat screen, just get as many numbers up as possible, and pray. x') I lost after 4 rounds, but I'm still clueless as to why, and how I could make my deck better. I think a more visual breakdown of the mechanics, and a better way to display information to the player, instead of these daunting tables, would go a long way! |
| Apr 21 20:30:23 | 4h 57m | TechnoMonk RITUAL | ♥ 2 | This game is a jam!! BEAUTIFUL graphics (reminds me of Don't Starve) and amazing music! Playable tutorial is a great addition. The mechanic itself is simple enough to be explainable in just a few seconds, but also fun enough that I don't mind doing it over and over for the whole game lol! The difficulty felt pretty well balanced, the levels were pretty easy, but you couldn't just walk anywhere you want without paying attention. Also the dialogue and story were very funny, a monk that can bring people to their side by party rockin too hard is amazing. Well done lads!! |
| Apr 21 22:21:09 | 1h 50m | Daemonis Algebra | ♥ 4 | This is THE best game I have played this jam *hand down*!! The amount of polish and care is unbelievable! The graphics are SO cute, the music is infectious and captures the energy of the game perfectly! The bite-sized platforming is very well executed, the addition of the broom powerup is very clever, and collecting different monster fragments is super fun! I love how you can win by creating whatever monster you want, but you'll also get a better ending if you build the exact kind the game asked for! Extremely clever way to handle replayability on what is, in principle, a very short experience. Seriously, amazing work! If there's an entry more perfect than this one, I haven't seen it. |
| Apr 21 22:30:43 | 9m 34s | Ant #74 in: Sugar Summoning | ♥ 1 | IDK what happened but I can't play this one ;w; It runs fine, but the environment is all overexposed and white so I can't see anything... Captura de tela 2024-04-21 192913.png |
| Apr 21 22:37:58 | 7m 15s | Unpacking Armageddon | ♥ 1 | heheh, ok this is pretty funny! short and sweet lil game! all the art assets fit together really well, and it's reasonably challenging without being too hard! i like it a lot ^^ |
| Apr 25 20:38:56 | 94h 00m | Mobius | ♥ 1 | Doesn't work on my PC unfortunately. :( I can hear sounds, but it crashes after the splash screen. |
| Apr 25 21:07:11 | 28m 15s | MEOWTERSPACE | ♥ 2 | To get the obvious out of the way first, the visuals are absolutely stunning. The music is a fricking bop. It's clear ya'll had a lot of fun with this one! I was very confused at first but quickly got it. This is a very creative take on a tower defense kind of game! Felt really satisfying to build up my army and watch it mow down the enemies. Perhaps it's a bit too easy, since mama cat has a lottttt of health, but I ain't complaining!! One thing I don't know if I understand is if you can remove UFOs after you placed them. I ended up filling my screen with UFOs, but then when they ran out of power, it became very difficult to maneuver them towards the energy power ups, so a way to destroy UFOs would have come in handy. If I have one thing to point out, is that there's maybe a bit too much on screen. The background props are a darker color, which is a nice touch, but they move very similarly to the enemies, which gets my eyes confused sometimes. There's also some stuff like, random paper airplane looking things that spawn and cross the screen and don't seem to do anything? Anyway, a better separation of what's good, what's bad, and what's background would be nice. Maybe you could use colorful borders and make the BG props move a lot slower. In any case, this one was very fun!! Props to the whole team for such a beautiful project ^^ |
| Apr 25 21:30:16 | 23m 05s | I am a wizard and my shoulder hurts | ♥ 1 | This is pretty funny! The deadpan quips between the characters got a laugh out of me. I love that the gf's mom would rather she associate with a wizard than a freelancer! >D< I didn't manage to get all the endings, and sometimes I got confused bc I'm not sure how time passes in the game, sometimes I'd be in the middle of exploring a room and the game would just end, like in the forest or in the middle of the party. But even then, I also managed to get some endings I wasn't expecting, like dying on the start screen, not showing up to the party, and the demon appearing after I die. Fun little thing! Thank you for making this. |
| Apr 25 21:45:46 | 15m 30s | Cat-o-Conjurer | ♥ 1 | This is so fun!! There's few mechanics for you to learn, but endless strategies to come up with. I mained the mini cat for catching mice + the fighter cat for defeating the burglar. Only switching to the black cat once I needed more summoning juice. If there's one thing I could say, is that there could be some indication on screen of which numbers spawn which cat, or maybe have it UI buttons. The cats automatically jumping on the couches also threw me off a couple times, so maybe that could work differently as well. Regardless, I had a lot of fun with this one, feels like a game I could spend several minutes on without realizing! Also the animation of the cats running is just marvelous. |
| Apr 27 18:35:58 | 44h 50m | Ballad of Lead Shroud | ♥ 2 | This was a pretty fun story! I really like narrative walking simulators, and the story about the monkey's paw and this super selfish character that only wants to be rich and famous is ridiculous but also intriguing. There's a few things that made getting through this story kinda difficult... like the mouse sensitivity is too low, the text is too slow adn the skip action doesn't let you read it, the FOV is also too low which feels kinda disorienting, and I feel like you could have made text boxes that allow for more than one line at a time, so that walking 2 steps didn't always interrupt you with a text box. That all said, I did really enjoy the vibe of the graphics and shaders, the music and the way the story was told through the environment. If you take care of those little problems, you could make a lot of really cool games in this same style! |
| Apr 27 19:07:05 | 31m 07s | Haunted Cartomancy | ♥ 3 | Ohh this is absolutely insane! The graphics, audio, writing, everything is extremely polished. I love how efficient you were with the gam design, placing items all around a single room and making puzzles all around the dialogue, allowed you to really make the environment as pretty as possible. As others have pointed out, the text is too slow, but that's the only thing I can even complain about. The story and ending are marvelous, I especially liked clicking on the mirror to cast your own soul into the card. Really clever and impressive game all around!! |
| Apr 28 01:52:30 | 6h 45m | High-Bird 2: The Summoning | ♥ 0 | Super pretty game! Would be better if the camera was a bit farther away, or lower down, so that the trees didn't constantly clip into it. The walking sound is amazing and i'm glad you included it uncut xD The wisps kinda looked like they were everywhere, and not leading to any path, took me a while to figure out that I actually needed to go where the wisps were "pointing" with their 2 square end instead of following them like a trail x) Eventually i managed to find a mountain and I'm glad I did cus the animation and sounds of the ritual are also very funny. I like this game! Feels very homemade and cozy. |
| Apr 28 02:40:38 | 48m 08s | The Duke's Cartographer. | ♥ 2 | This is *actually* such a cool idea for a game!!!! The idea of being a cartographer that has to explore the world, mark it all down and make the best paths between points of interest has huge potential! I really like the graphics and choice of music. I was enjoying myself a lot just wandering through the map and placing down my paths. I didn't really understand how scoring works, I found a city and dragged my mouse to it and somehow got -20 xD but that's fine. Still had fun. Although, I seemed to always get lost the further I played, like my map suddenly became wrong, and then I read the description and realized that the tiles were changed around every week, and... unfortunately I just don't think that's a fun idea... I was having a lot of fun mapping the places I visited. My personal goal was to fill out the entire map and send a screenshot. But as soon as I realized my map had become incorrect due to a game mechanic, I didn't want to bother anymore :< I really appreaciate this game's idea, but I think you tried to add a sense of challenge to a game that didn't need it. Knowing your way around and marking everything correctly so you know where you are and need to go is already challenging and fun enough! Having the tiles swap around takes the fun out of it in my opinion... I think you have something truly special here, for real! While I was just vibing and mapping I honestly liked this more than any other game in this whole jam! If you made a version of this game that was just the chill mapping, I would play it to the end and want more. |
| Apr 28 03:39:01 | 58m 23s | FoodieBuddie | ♥ 2 | This is pretty fun! I love how every single interaction in the game is done by dragging items around. Makes it all feel very cohesive. The tutorial and gameplay style are pretty hard to understand but I got the hang of it. Also the graphics and audio are great, I love the breakdown as the witch starts dancing!! One thing though, is the order of items on the recipe important? I feel like I made the exact recipe for pizza and ended up with garbage instead! ;w; That threw me off a little |
| Apr 28 03:52:06 | 13m 05s | Trouble in Emoji Plane | ♥ 1 | I was weirdly hooked by this. I like idle games, seeing numbers go up, and seeing a bunch of objects spawn in and do their thing. Managed to get 12304 when the game suddenly despawned all my monsters for some reason. x) I don't really think I understand the mechanics, like what the different monsters do. The skulls seem to spawn in for a single frame and then kill a random person. People have mentioned the cops shooting their monsters but I didn't see any shots while playing? Makes me feel like maybe the game was bugged, but I'm not sure! I still had a fun lil time anyway. Congrats on submitting something lol! This sure looks like it'd be fun to make. |
| Apr 28 04:04:50 | 12m 44s | My First Summoning | ♥ 1 | Honestly? I love this KJDSJKDS. It's like Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, but instead of diffusing a bomb, you have to decipher a cryptic book of instructions to summon a demon. I wasn't a big fan of the blind guessing at the words, but I really liked the logical puzzles of figuring out where to place the candles, and what offerings to give the demon. Eventually, I realized that the latin words formed an actual sentence, and then my rudimentary knowledge of latin actually turned out to be useful! x3 If it weren't for that, I definitely would have given up. Banking on your players knowing latin, or just randomly guessing a bunch of times, is kinda messed up, but at least this time it worked in my favor lol! Liked the art, sounds, music and aesthetic quite a lot too. |
| Apr 28 04:10:39 | 5m 49s | Summoning Arena | ♥ 1 | Agh shame what happened to you! This looks like it could have been really fun :> I love the music and the animation of the lil guys dancing lol! Trying to balance this looks like it would have been pretty hard, since I took 3 tries just to get past the tutorial, even though I used the exact same strategy every time, just spawning 3 humans. Hope you don't have any complications next time around! |
| Apr 28 04:24:00 | 13m 21s | Chechik's Adventures | ♥ 0 | Well, this was pretty cute. x) I like the idea and the graphics. Gameplay is pretty jank, the timing to spawn some creatures can be weirdly specific but I got used to it. What ended up killing me was me confusing one wall type with another, cus they're all very similar. Had a bit of fun anyway after getting into the flow. Captura de tela 2024-04-28 011951.png Also, since you asked, I did experience the "things spawning on top of each other" bug as well! I had only played a single round and died on the second obstacle. The bug seemed to start only after I restarted the game, so I believe it might have something to do with the restart feature? Not sure. |
