Oct 3 03:09:28 HAZCAT - Toxic Feline ♥ 2 Top-notch art, visuals, and music! I love the pixelated 3D character look. Kind of reminds me of New Super Mario Bros. Controls are difficult to get used to, but feel very snappy and quick. I wish the song didn't restart when you die so that I could hear all of it!
Oct 3 03:19:36 10m 08s Nuke Yourself to Alpha Centauri! ♥ 0 The targeting levers didn't seem to work on Firefox, but when I switched to Edge the framerate increased and all the controls worked. Very complex, but a super cool concept! I love sci-fi and the theoretically possible, so this is an awesome thing to see at a game jam. Absurdly intricate for something made in only 48 hours!
Oct 3 15:27:01 12h 07m MAGIC-281: Intro to Alchemy ♥ 3 Unlike other projects; I think that's the best way I could describe it. I had a lot of fun with it because it was such a change of pace. I like the worldbuilding and thought put into it. I *did* take notes and it was very stressful. Why am I doing fictional studying instead of actual studying I should be doing.
Oct 3 15:35:25 8m 24s 1000 Meters to Shade ♥ 3 The blatant disregard for how computer sprites usually work is incredible. The smearing, shifting, and degrading of the graphics is super cool, and it really adds to the visceral feel of a dying world. Theme is on-the-nose and it doesn't take too long to complete.
Oct 3 19:47:58 4h 12m Cutthroat Cannoneer ♥ 1 Feels very well polished! I like the variety in art, animation, and sound effects. I especially like the over-the-top lose animation. Simple but well-executed, and a fun little arcade game!
Oct 4 16:47:51 20h 59m Rush Hour ♥ 1 Very difficult with a trackpad! The art looks great and the music is pleasant. It's a little difficult to know which ingredients are required because the indicator icons are very small and some are similar. There were a few times where a customer wasn't happy with their sandwich and I wasn't sure why. Overall, very impressive for 72 hours!
Oct 4 17:06:46 18m 55s 10-Second Mechanism ♥ 2 Looks great! At first I found the darkness and short time limit frustrating, but I actually grew to appreciate both after a few levels. It definitely makes the puzzles more tricky, but also requires a different set of skills from the player than these sorts of puzzles usually do. I like the theming and style.
Oct 4 19:52:00 2h 45m Tormenting Idol ♥ 1 Cool! Atmosphere is nice and the sound effects are suitably creepy. Reminds me of a Wolfenstein 3D sort of retro style, which I happen to be a big fan of. I actually did jump a little once when I noticed the idol was right behind me. There are some issues with playing on a trackpad, as sometimes the camera would get stuck and wouldn't move smoothly anymore. Also, the camera seemed to clip into the wall in one corner, so I could see inside the wall and into the void, but that didn't affect gameplay at all.
Oct 4 20:07:14 15m 14s Avery Ten 2ndth: Savior of Cleveland ♥ 3 After witnessing this masterpiece, I can say that the Clevelike genre has a strong flagship game. The city of Cleveland, once tragically underrepresented in video gaming, will come to dominate the cultural zeitgeist. Imagine: tributes to Cleveland in every city square, Cleve-shops on every corner, Cleve-burgers in every hungry hand. This masterpiece of a product will usher in a new age of humanity, one devoted entirely to Cleveland. No more anthropocene, but Clevelopocene. In all honesty I did fall through the floor several times, and I had to reload the page and skip through the intro thrice, and the unforgiving speed at which the obstacles fly at you makes it near-impossible to dodge anything, but that's not why I kept playing. I kept playing because you got me hooked with a funny concept and a few lines of funny dialogue and visuals that were on the edge of mediocre and horrific, and that's really all I needed. As an experience, enjoyable.
Oct 4 20:27:13 19m 59s Ski freeVENGE ♥ 1 Actually great. I like the variety of weapons, and each one is pretty different from the last. I really love the sound effects -- I was honestly considering doing SFX like that for this jam, but I couldn't work up the courage. I don't have cool movie trailer voice, but clearly you do. Works beautifully; I didn't notice any bugs or weird glitches. Good job!
Oct 4 20:40:40 13m 27s What is that sound? (Repeating every 10th second) ♥ 1 I like the postprocessing work and the sound effects. The graphics are simple but they get the job done, and actually work well with the text to paint a good picture of the scene in my imagination. Disappointing that there isn't much to do besides go upstairs and die. Or maybe I just haven't found it yet. I want to explore more!
Oct 4 23:14:29 2h 33m GLUB? ♥ 1 The randomized controls are very destabilizing, but that's the point. A cute and fun little game like QWOP. Nice to look at and the fish is very cute. Simple but does it well! I'd also like to add that the interface is intuitive and simple. It's very easy to gauge how much longer you have for either controls or life.
Oct 5 17:11:34 17h 57m Curse Of Infinity ♥ 1 Cool! The simple voxel graphics work and I like the variety of curses. The challenge definitely ramps up, but I push through because I want to know what the next curse will be. I like how the game gradually grows more complex over time, until it's hard to remember everything that's trying to kill you!
Oct 7 01:38:11 32h 26m Anxiety ♥ 1 This is awesome! The watercolor looks incredible and really makes this project stand out among the other game jam games. The controls were intuitive and I had a lot of fun examining the world you've created. The imagery and themes are unsettling and definitely anxiety-inducing, but it's given me a lot to think about. I'm curious, what did you use to make this game?
Oct 7 01:44:38 6m 27s Fight The Darkness ♥ 0 Cool concept! Simple and well-executed. Looks and sounds nice. For the future, I'd recommend some better lighting effects and a wider world to explore.
Oct 7 01:50:04 5m 26s Escape the.. something ♥ 1 Cool game! I like the parallax effect in the background and the animation of the running guy. I think things move a little too quickly for me to fully react to and the transition from floor to ceiling is very sudden, despite the countdown. I appreciate the music and sound effects.
Oct 7 01:59:41 9m 37s Orbit Jam ♥ 1 Took a second to get the hang of putting satellites into stable orbits, but once I got it I started doing really well. That is, until one satellite bumped into another and started a sort of lethal cascade into full-blown Kessler Syndrome. A fun little distraction.
Oct 7 02:08:49 9m 08s Boulder Bash ♥ 2 I sure showed those STUPID IDIOT BOULDERS who's boss! I like the sound effect and music. Gameplay is simple but very fun. I also like all the different random adjustments, although on one run I kept getting Player Size Change and it kept making me smaller for some reason. Like, to the point that it became hard to see where I was. Once you're small it's really hard to push the other balls around. Good work!
Oct 8 03:06:03 24h 57m Heaven or Hell ♥ 1 I like the idea here and I like the simplistic graphics. The player character(s) feel a little bit slow and floaty to me, and I experienced a few issues with collision -- if you ran into the side of a wall in midair you could kind of hang there for a while, and some times the edge of a platform will unexpectedly launch you horizontally. The two different maps are arranged in such a way that it is very difficult to get far in either of them with the ten second time limit. If more platforms lined up between the two worlds, I think it would feel more cohesive and the player would be able to get a bit further. I appreciate how I wasn't punished for dying, so I could explore and poke around without fear.
Oct 8 03:12:36 6m 33s Modern Post ♥ 1 Simple and fun! Very challenging, but I felt accomplished when I finally got at least one arrangement in time. Do note, I'm playing on a trackpad instead of a mouse. Game looks very nice and runs well. I always feel like I *just* miss the time limit, so I wish the 10 seconds were a little bit longer or there were just a few fewer boxes. It almost feels like I'm taking a reflex test or something 😅.
Oct 9 21:23:45 42h 11m Whatever Floats Your Boat ♥ 0 Great game! Art is very well-done and everything feels polished and professional. Gameplay is simple but unique and fun. Audio is also great. In the beginning it was very hard to know how far to move the starfish to throw it to the ship, but by the end I was an expert -- to the extent that there were plenty of fish and little challenge. Ramping up difficulty a bit by the end would be a good next step!
Oct 9 21:29:42 5m 57s Base Defense ♥ 1 Neat idea. I think having to switch between picking up resources and building towers is an interesting mechanic, and I do think the meteors destroying your towers adds some exciting chaos, but everything moves so quickly that I can't get very far. The resources move very slowly up the tractor beam and it's frustrating having to wait to collect them while spheres are rushing towards your base. I appreciate the music and sound effects.
Oct 9 22:01:46 32m 04s Clocksmith Exorcist ♥ 1 Great job! Art and audio are both fantastic! The swinging combat mechanic is super interesting and cool. I like the creative enemies and all the work put into their animations. It would be really cool if there was more variety in enemy attack patterns, as they're all pretty similar. Also, having more feedback on contact with an enemy -- hurt animations, the player's weapon bounding back, oof sound, etc. -- would really make this a top-tier jam game!
Oct 10 16:09:50 18h 08m Optimum Tasks ♥ 1 Great project! One would think that such a simple and monotonous puzzle would drive people away, but I got to one ending and decided to dive back in in the hopes that there would be more. And there was! I liked the story and narration. Everything is polished and works well. Very easy at first, but by the end is very challenging; I had to break out a calculator and really spend some time with one of the final puzzles to figure it out!
Oct 10 16:33:13 23m 23s Meteor Rain - LD51 ♥ 2 There's a lot going on here! I like how the player has so many different actions they can take -- run, jump, build, shoot, buy, etc. Your art and music is pretty simple, but it's there and that's what counts. I also like how the meteors kill the zombies along with the player. It seemed like I couldn't jump on top of platforms I had built, so (assuming that wasn't due to user error) keep an eye out for that if you decide to revisit this project in the future!
Oct 21 17:14:33 264h 41m deleted ♥ 1 Cool! I like the artwork and lighting effects. Very punishing at the beginning because the map is so large, but once I worked out a strategy and became better at recognizing the difference light colors it became more manageable. My personal best was round 18, but the browser-version game froze suddenly in the middle of a round.
Oct 21 21:43:45 4h 29m Puzzle Frency ♥ 1 Cool idea! I like the music and visual effects. Feels very polished. The slight rotation to each piece as its dropped looks cool, although it makes it very hard to tell what's an empty space and what's filled. How does the scoring work, in terms of where a piece is placed? Is it just based on the distance from the piece's position to where it should be, or is there more going on under the hood?
Oct 21 21:48:34 4m 49s Prince Defense ♥ 1 I like the cover art! Actual game art and music is nice, too. I think it's cool how you're actually in the game world, instead of just placing towers like in BTD or something. Being able to attack the princes myself (even if I do very little damage) definitely helped out in tighter spots!
