Apr 20 03:49:46 Curie ♥ 1 I liked some non-trivial things the player can do here, like protecting yourself from missiles with a large radiation release, or maneuvering between enemies to make them shoot each other. The radiation release visuals are very cool as well! On the flip side, with only single types of enemies (maybe there were more later, but I didn't see any after ~2 minutes) and no goal beyond surviving longer / killing more enemies, I got bored pretty quickly. Also, I think I managed to get beyond the screen borders once (possibly during a radiational release), but I couldn't reproduce it, so maybe I was just blind :)
Apr 20 04:13:17 23m 31s Plant life - My LD 46 Game ♥ 2 Fun to play for a while, but once I got all the upgrades, it became kinda purposeless :( Great soundtrack and nice job overall! Keep using that muscle =) Some bugs / incomplete stuff (you probably know about most of it, but just in case): -The "Buy Phase" text shows up before I finish shooting all the enemies (I assume it probably appears when the last enemy is generated?), which was a bit confusing at the start -There is no way to distinguish between purchased and available upgrades - the icon looks the same -The sound effect when player tries to purchase an already-purchased upgrade seems to be the same as for upgrades that are too expensive, and coupled with previous point it makes things a bit confusing -Is there no way to restart the game from the loss screen? It would be nice to have a restart button, so the player doesn't have to close the window and run the game again
Apr 20 04:44:55 31m 38s Venusian Cargo ♥ 1 Pretty cool puzzle game, and the theme is right on! I wish there were more levels - I was rather excited to finish the 3 that are in there!
Apr 20 06:18:51 1h 33m Forests of Xahil ♥ 0 This is a well-produced roguelike, and an impressive amount of work for a single weekend. I played it several times, saw 5 or 6 different types of enemies. Are there many more hiding in higher levels? The enemy types fit the alien planet atmosphere well, I experienced a sense of wonder from exploring it. The only downside for me is the endless wave structure - it doesn't motivate me to keep playing. At the same time, even the current version is a viable product. I'd personally be excited to play it if you developed it further, like adding new terrain types and overall goals. Great job! P.S. You have audio enabled in ratings, but I did not hear any music or sound effects - were they supposed to be there?
Apr 20 06:50:12 31m 21s Protect the Pup! ♥ 1 Tried your game, but it crashed on Wine :( (I'm playing on Mac) I'd been playing for several minutes by then, so perhaps the boss was due? I don't know... It's most probably the issue with me playing in an emulator, but I could attach the backtrace if you're interested. That said, the alien sound effects are rather unsettling (in a good way). Also, did you do the voiceover yourself? xD
Apr 20 07:16:47 26m 35s LD46 By Kinto ♥ 1 Cool concept! Swinging my triple dancing swords like a keychain was a lot of fun xD One downside was the random duck positioning: with no way to move it, the duck falling in the middle makes the game MUCH easier than the duck far to the left. Or did I miss something? Also, it seems like all waves only consist of small and large kubes (or so it seemed after ~50 waves), which gets kinda repetitive :) With more enemies, this can be very addicting!
Apr 20 08:05:40 48m 53s Survive the dungeon ♥ 0 I got to about level 10 (Paladin), but got a streak of swords and no healing potions, and died a heroic death fighting skeletons... Are there any new enemies after skeletons and shamans? This game is fun to play for several minutes, but then it gets repetitive. I think you need either some overarching plot / quests, or achievements to make it more addictive. Interface-wise, I have a bit of an issue with having to drag potions to the inventory, then into my hand, then onto my character - I understand that this is needed because of limited inventory, but it's rather tedious to perform a hundred times :)
Apr 20 19:11:54 11h 06m LD46 - Keep it alive ♥ 0 Very addictive for such a small game. Interesting mechanics, and kudos for providing the tutorial and visual cues (like the flashing light). Figuring out issues was a bit challenging, but rewarding. My sole complaint is the way the game doesn't end after 5 minutes. I legit believed that I either haven't hit 5 minutes, or there was a second ending in sight, and replayed several more times until I saw that I kept going for ~10 minutes and going for much longer won't be possible due to limited power supplies. The realization was a bit frustrating :D
Apr 20 23:50:54 4h 39m Shadow of the Elm ♥ 3 Fun little game, but with a fair share of bugs. I liked the visual aesthetics and the world music - it was a joy to hop around in search of crystals. The bugs I encountered were: -I got stuck in the platform once: Screen Shot 2020-04-20 at 4.34.04 PM.png -If you collect some crystals and exit to Main Menu, you still have them filled in, so you can collect the same crystal again and effectively cheat the game -The first time I entered right-top level, it was bugged for some reason: I couldn't see the pellets shooting from the left, but still died to them: Screen Shot 2020-04-20 at 4.36.01 PM.png I'd totally play more of this if there were more levels and bugs were gone!
Apr 21 01:09:59 1h 19m Rogue Janitor ♥ 1 This game introduces a surprising amount of decisions to make and things to master: orienting yourself in the dungeon, choosing whether to take trash to the bin or vice versa, getting used to the controls, and not getting stuck in doorways when you're dragging a body =) The humor and the overall feel are pretty Grue-ling. The contrast with the music is on point.
Apr 21 18:52:36 17h 42m Social Distancing For LadyBugs ♥ 1 Heh a nice little game. Someone here posted a highscore of 19k - what a baller, I can't get up to 10k! I like the music - both the theme (it kinda doesn't fit the action, but also kinda does), and especially the death tune. I also think it's a great idea that you showed the rules _after_ the loss.
Apr 21 22:42:45 3h 50m LEADER KEEP THEM ALIVE ♥ 2 This game is incredible. The visuals and the sounds are amazing; the amount of text you wrote for the communications is beyond impressive. Hands down my favorite entry of the jam so far. Are all of these functions and errors made up, or real aeronautic stuff? It would be awesome if instead of being fully scripted, the scenario had random events: sometimes you get to the Moon, sometimes you don't, sometimes one error pops up, sometimes another. I can imagine myself sitting for hours and navigating the crew through different missions. Some things that I think could be improved: -The text speed is a bit too slow; I'd have been happier if it got printed out a bit faster -The game kind of punishes experimentation (like, "what happens if I swap this sequence") by making you start from scratch, and coupled with slow text, it's a bit painful -Player gets a "Continue" if they succeed in the aborted mission, but it seems like it's still the same mission? I didn't have enough patience to go through it again, but all the events seemed the same. -There are some typos here and there, like "noise just stoped", "openning", "next ime", "reciever", "as follow" -A lot of error descriptions just say "Internal Error", text for Error 231 is empty
Apr 21 23:09:11 26m 26s Maintenance Bot 46 ♥ 2 This game feels a bit hollow without any indication of progress, or end goal. I assume the oxygen spread bug you’re referring to is why I had a breach show up every couple of seconds after I played for several minutes :) It wasn’t absolutely clear to me what closing the doors was for - if they cut off oxygen loss, why isn’t it optimal to just seal them all off asap? Some suggestions on how to make the game more engaging: -You could have multiple (perhaps programmatically generated) levels that increase in size and difficulty, and say that the robot keeps getting assigned to new stations -You could introduce new mechanics, like toolkits of various types for various issues, and only being able to carry one at a time
Apr 22 03:56:59 4h 47m Run Robot Run! ♥ 0 I enjoyed your game a lot! Playing-wise it needs some refinement (more space to maneuver? levels? more upgrades? more variety of obstacles?), especially the effects were a bit painful when playing for a while. However, I loved the humor, it made me chuckle more than once =)
Apr 22 07:56:09 3h 59m Hacking is Probably Not Like This ♥ 0 Really enjoyed this game. Got to over 100,000 fame at the end, but still didn't figure out how to solve light/slide puzzles. Also, are shiny upgrades only offered after everything else is at level 5? Or they are very rare? I never saw one. A hall of fame would be nice :) Then there is motivation to keep replaying.
Apr 22 18:32:45 10h 36m Morose ♥ 1 The plant crafting gives me a bit of chemistry vibe, with different atoms having different conditions to join in :) I got stuck in this battle screen; no matter what I plant, the subsequent attack wipes it out. What should I do? Screen Shot 2020-04-22 at 11.29.57 AM.png
Apr 22 21:30:05 2h 57m Plant (Panic) ♥ 1 Has anyone managed to grow the plant to the end of the screen? :) Seems kinda impossible right now. Is the optimal strategy just endlessly watering, and switching to rocks when the bugs appear? Or is there some penalty for overwatering / some relationship between watering and bugs appearance? I think you could introduce these mechanics to make choices more meaningful.
Apr 22 23:51:46 2h 21m Water the Flowers ♥ 1 Got to 124 points before my flowers dried up :) Is the score just the number of seconds the player survives, or it's a function of the number of living flowers as well? If it's the former, it sounds like it's optimal to just take care of one flower and let the other two die. I assume you were going for a small, cute, peaceful green game - in that case you achieved what you intended :) My one complaint is that I had a bit of trouble understanding the stages of flower withering - either my botany skills are terrible, or the colors weren't very self-explanatory. I love the fact that your children participated in this - kudos to y'all and good luck for future projects! :)
Apr 23 00:13:45 21m 59s Fire Game ♥ 1 Weirdly enjoyable game. If someone told me beforehand that I'd find dragging logs across the screen for 10 minutes exciting, I'd be mildly surprised. But after seeing that ending screen, I told myself, "worth it". A couple issues: -The last fire description ("Fire with Fire G..."?) didn't fit on the screen for me, so I don't know what it was called. -I left a coal lying in the fire, and it never got absorbed until I picked it up and threw again - perhaps there is some action that only gets triggered on collision status change? -The controls say WASD but in reality it's more like A/D/Space
Apr 23 00:27:43 13m 58s Monster Zoo ♥ 1 I liked the screenshots and written concept of the game a lot and wanted to give it a try, but it won't run in Wine on Mac (that's all I got). Would you happen to know if this is easily fixable, or perhaps can bundle it for Mac without too much effort? :)
Apr 23 06:48:11 6h 20m Square Loves Circle! ♥ 2 I have mixed feelings about this game. The puzzles are rather interesting (disclaimer: I couldn't get past level 7 I think. How many are there?), the graphics (especially the hearts showing up when they touch) are endearing, music fits the game well, and there is an interesting narrative! But as I progressed through the levels, I felt like the narrative got dark rather than cute. It's like Square is this obsessed dude who will do anything to follow Circle. "She could go place he couldn't - *but he always found a way*". Maybe Circle is suicidal because of his attention? Her facial expression certainly doesn't help their case. P.S. Binging "You" might have had something to do with my read on this.
Apr 23 07:12:59 24m 48s Little Restaurant of Horrors ♥ 1 This was a cool and horrifying way to spend 10 minutes of my life! I did two playthroughs to see if anything changes depending on people sent to the Hybrid - looks like it didn't. I wish there was a different ending based on that! I originally thought that if I send well-connected people to the Hybrid, the restaurant will get raided by police, so tried to focus on outcasts. Next time I tried choosing the happiest people. I think if you had different endings based on such parameters, people would replay this just to unlock them all =)
Apr 23 16:36:15 9h 23m Satisfy'n: Keep the Love Alive ♥ 1 I liked this game a lot - I feel like it mirrors real life, if only a bit cynically xD The animations are hilarious. The banging in the love house is very ... real I guess? xD I also felt like the tooltips explained what each building does really well, and the balance was right. The one downside was the car engine sound, I preferred to walk instead. [SPOILERS] I became a ninja and found HELL, are these the two secrets?
Apr 23 19:55:38 3h 19m Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure ♥ 1 I really enjoyed the Egyptian tomb atmosphere, and think that the dragon-on-your-head and torch mechanic is pretty unique. On the flip side, it was hard to control the game (perhaps mouse makes it easier, but my trackpad certainly didn't). I also felt like I was having trouble recognizing terrain sometimes, and fell through all kinds of holes and cracks. Got to the first monolith, but not far beyond :(
Apr 23 20:36:45 41m 07s Control Room ♥ 1 I absolutely love the concept. There is something almost cyberpunk about it; it gives me vibes of Hardware (1990 movie) and Mega Drive (music band) album covers. Those two window-eyes are awesome. But I didn't manage to get past 8yo. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or perhaps the game behaves a bit differently for me. Do I understand correctly that I need oxygen to pump energy, but can't breathe in more oxygen until CO2 is all out? So essentially "click breathe in as much as possible - click pump energy as much as possible - click breathe out as much as possible"? It's too fast for me right from the start :/
Apr 26 18:41:31 70h 04m Keep Reputation Alive ♥ 1 The game is indeed easy, but I found it very addictive. Didn't even look up at the time until it was over. How did you generate levels for this? I wonder if its solution is related to Eulerian paths (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eulerian_path), which would be kinda neat :) One issue was that after I lost the game, it brought me back to Level 1, but with 0 reputation, so any action resulted in immediate loss. So I just had to restart the game. Also you have a typo at intructions page: "corupt"
Apr 26 19:25:55 44m 24s Monster Love ♥ 0 @endurion Great entry! I loved the humor, the game fits the theme 5/5, and it's an impressive amount of level design for just two days! I think the music fits the crazy reanimator theme weirdly well. I also liked the randomness in fly behavior. Also, what's the "hidden editor"? Stuff that can be improved: -Swatter control is a bit uncomfortable. The gap between player's body and swatter, and the granularity of movement together make it harder to swat correctly. -The lag between killing all flies / dying, and the menu popping up is a bit too large - I'd just almost instantly flash the menu. -Those fat not-flies sometimes get stuck in place. @battlecat Something tells me you didn't energize the mouse wheel on level 3 :)
