Oct 6 22:51:27 Nüllptr ♥ 1 Nice! My two high scores were 50 and 51. I spent quite a while at the beginning trying to figure out how to stab the ships with that orange sword I start with... Impressive amount of enemy variety and bullet patterns and such. Controls felt a little too floaty to me.
Oct 6 23:28:18 36m 51s Start With Rain ♥ 1 Oops. I think I drowned all the fremen. Nice procedural desert, and the last upgrade made me laugh out loud =). Great job on the music. Getting started was a little painful, but pacing after I was able to stop clicking wasn't too bad. Also, that seemed to load really quickly for a Unity game, is my internet having a good day, or did the Unity WebGL player get *way* lighter?
Oct 6 23:48:49 20m 31s Start with no dice ♥ 1 I love the idea of upgrading dice faces! It's got a strong board-game feel, but that's not something you get to do in any real board game (that I know of =). The AI could be a little more cutthroat - he was ahead 50pts to 7pts, there was just one side that needed to be bought to end the game, and he kept on buying other things. I eventually got my engine going long after his, and won 92 to 81 =). Your instructions are pretty unclear - maybe use the term "face" instead of side, as "When 4 side piles are gone" made me think that if 4 of the 6 piles on the sides of the screen were gone the game would end. Also, plural of "die" is "dice", not "dices". I know, English sucks =).
Oct 7 00:01:19 12m 30s In The Beginning ♥ 3 Interesting! I love the feel of the first 7 days =). For most of the game, I felt like I didn't have any choices - it was just play every card I drew, there seemed to be very little point in discarding cards, since I'd already paid the cost (or my created ones did) to draw them, so it was just keep playing any card I can until I get to the next phase. End of the game was slightly more varied, in that I had my own side goal (as did another above, I see!) to end with 0 sin. I only had to sacrifice a couple cows and one puny human to get it.
Oct 7 00:09:22 8m 03s Space Flight of Survival ♥ 1 Congrats on your first Ludum Dare! Graphics were nice I liked the look of everything. Gameplay was challenging for me, couldn't live very long, and didn't have a good feel for the size of my hitbox (I guess it was a lot smaller than my ship), so wasn't quite sure if I was getting hit or not. Just a little sound would have helped a lot (with both that problem, and general feel). I'm not quite sure how many points I got, because the game immediately ended before I could look at my score - showing that on a "game over screen" would be great for letting me feel like I made some progress.
Oct 7 00:23:23 14m 01s Wordplay ♥ 1 I beat it! Only found 3 of 26 discoveries, but apparently that was enough for victory =). Hmm, the response for "No" didn't trigger until much later in the game, I think I removed the "T" from the first word, and it only triggered one of two things or something. Wish I could see the count of unlocks while I'm playing, thought "score" might do that, but it didn't ^_^. Was weird that "morning" unlocked "morning" again, not sure if that w as bug, or something else happened. Wanted something to stop the music playing (was good, but got old), and the word I expected to do that did something else instead :). Second game I got to 11 unlocks. Could never find a "D"...
Oct 7 00:47:35 24m 12s Zero Equals Zero ♥ 2 Another arithmetic game =). Was neat. I kept getting stuck on walls though, so the platformy bits were challenging. I liked that the last level made me think a bit, though I ended up just solving it ignoring most of the pieces, which seemed anti-climactic.
Oct 7 01:01:58 14m 23s Nothing Box ♥ 1 I really like starting with no color and finding the crystals! I'm not sure what I was supposed to do in the end, I ended up covering the world in... blood? At the beginning, I would often go zooming off into the distance (presumably a key-repeat thing as I held a key down too long), and then a little later it started getting super slow (as I explored more and had more visibility, I guess), such that I just gave up trying to explore at some point because it was going so slow. Took me a while to figure out how rafts worked, I thought I was finding them, as they'd just pop up after I mined a tree (and zoomed into the water), only later when it got slower did it appear I had a choice to place a raft or not by not walking into the water ^_^. I like the art, and music has a great mood to it.
Oct 7 01:15:40 13m 42s Alchemy Jam ♥ 0 My first attempt, my game was a score of 90. Definitely wasted a lot of time just reading what stuff was. Will try again... Next try, I managed to just barely get the philospher's stone before the time ran out. Game score of 504. Another 30 seconds and I could have quadrupled it or something, pacing seemed right on my second try, but I'm guessing most people will only play once =). Love the art style, really cute! Music and sound also pretty good.
Oct 7 01:32:07 16m 27s A Brand New World ♥ 1 Interesting game! I only got through about 40 cards before I got bored though :(. It felt bad when I placed a card down, and it immediately changed to something else, or my super-rare water disappeared and turned into dry land, felt like there was nothing I could do about that. It wasn't clear exactly what animals needed to not starve, all of mine seemed to starve eventually. Best score I got to was 20pts, though I ended at -5 =). If there was a little more going on, or if it were a little clearer, I could totally see myself sinking a bunch of time into a game like this =).
Oct 7 04:00:25 2h 28m Nought - Procedurally Generated Dungeon ♥ 1 This was really hard for me at the beginning - I seemed to die in the first room with enemies just about whatever I try :(. Maybe more interesting enemy movement patterns other than running straight at me would help. I sometimes seem to stop moving while holding down WASD, have to release and re-press the key to start moving again, and it's also really easy to lose the game window by clicking outside of it while trying to frantically shoot things. After a few more tries, I finally got the hang of it, was able to make it to level 7 with 21 bombs before getting bored ^_^. Really well done. I love how the good weapon (bamboo spears?) only gets consumed if you actually hit someone with it =). Level generation was relatively interesting. Art was simple, but effective, had a good consistent style.
Oct 7 04:40:47 40m 22s Logical ♥ 1 I couldn't figure out where the output went on the second level... I've got an input, and a not gate, seems easy to invert the output, but didn't do anything. Eventually realized the "not" is actually the output now. Was pretty confused and thought it was a bug. You might want to add to your description that the node on the right side, regardless of label, is the output! And then I'm confused as to why I'm unlocking gates when I already have a NAND... I'll just keep solving everything with NANDs... This is how you're supposed to build a Full-Adder, right? =) NANDed.png Edit: I count 22 NANDs in your Full-Adder solution and 15 in mine (plus one that I didn't need and couldn't delete...). That was fun! Edit the second: The internet claims the optimal solution is just 9 NAND gates, I admit defeat.
Oct 7 05:47:45 1h 06m Sokobaiogenesis ♥ 1 Really clever! So similar to things I've played, yet mind-bendingly different. I'm only a few levels in, and I accidentally created something alive, that I did not need to make to complete the level... I'm scared... Ah, needed to make that later, really clever level design! It worries me a little that on this particular level my clone solved it and I was left stranded shrunk... And... the levels keep going, that is an amazing amount of content, good job! I'll have to come back and finish this tomorrow. Love the super-quick load times and not waiting for a "Made with Unity" splash screen ;).
Oct 8 01:22:23 19h 34m Qubit ♥ 2 That was fun! I sometimes got confused as a successfully completed 2-step square and an incorrectly 2-stepped square were indistinguishable, but otherwise had no problems. Audio was nice and chill.
Oct 8 01:31:16 8m 53s Atom Calculator ♥ 1 My score: 294 seconds. Nice to see someone else also made an arithmetic game involving atoms =). I wasn't sure if I was being penalized for doing intermediate calculations, it played a "bad" sound when I did it, but I often needed to do A*B+C, and I couldn't chain that together. Would have liked to be able to just change the most recent operator, instead of all of them =).
Oct 8 02:14:15 42m 59s DECKER_ ♥ 0 Hmm, it was fun until he played Biofeedback on me, and it seemed to permanently stop me from drawing cards, I just passed for the next 20 turns as he whittled me down (without playing biofeedback again) :(. Wish it told me what the upgrades did, I have to keep looking back here to find them. Like the idea, wish I could play more than a couple battles before getting stun-locked :(
Oct 8 02:31:41 17m 26s Life with Words ♥ 1 That was fun! More challenging than I expected =). I tried *really* hard to spell "nothing", got as far as "thing" before, yeah. Sometimes letters got stuck between my attached letters and jittered around a bunch, felt like the framerate dropped, but maybe it was just the jittery trapped letters that made it feel that way.
Oct 8 02:39:45 8m 04s Our Last Chance ♥ 1 That was fun, eventually. I seem to start with a random weapon, and some were very ineffective. Finally started with a big green glowy thing and beat my way through two bosses until it hung and this showed up on the debug console (Web version): ``` YOU WON (Filename: ./Runtime/Export/Debug/Debug.bindings.h Line: 35) dcc35228-4c72-47c1-b725-a5970d930f21:8 HELLLLLLO? (Filename: ./Runtime/Export/Debug/Debug.bindings.h Line: 35) dcc35228-4c72-47c1-b725-a5970d930f21:8 SHIT (Filename: ./Runtime/Export/Debug/Debug.bindings.h Line: 35) dcc35228-4c72-47c1-b725-a5970d930f21:8 NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. (Filename: currently not available on il2cpp Line: -1) ```
Oct 8 02:45:36 5m 51s Hermitage ♥ 1 I won! I actually really liked this. Great entry for your first Ludum Dare =). Obviously, it could have had more depth, but I think it's rather poetic as it was. Music was pretty good too.
Oct 8 02:54:24 8m 48s From Space ♥ 1 Love the visuals! On my second try, I was able to get to wave 4. The Ammo station didn't seem to do anything, I'd pick up there, but my ammo amount would not change (though I never ran out of ammo, so I'm not sure what was going on)... Picking up things and moving it around was difficult with the slidy movement, I would also run past it, and press space at the wrong time. A little more leeway in how close you had to be would help a lot, I think.
Oct 8 03:02:09 7m 45s Venture ♥ 1 I raised $524,230, after many attempts. Sadly, real VCs don't give you a second attempt. That was pretty fun. Despite being ordered RGB, I constantly ended up switching the wrong direction at the wrong time and failing to talk about the right thing, which kept me on my toes. It seemed like once there was a green and a blue arriving at the same time, and I talked green then blue (*maybe* the blue had just passed the green when I did that, but I think they were both close enough), but only the blue registered :(. Great audio!
Oct 8 03:16:33 14m 24s The Lucky Nugget ♥ 1 That was pretty neat. I got myself a mythril (diamond?) pickaxe and retired =). Quite the return on investment at that Dwarven Tavern - I guess no one else drinks as much as dwarves do, especially next to a mine! Sometimes the rounding of the numbers was a bit too much, and confused me - I think I had "2K" but couldn't buy something costing "1500", or maybe I clicked to buy something costing "2K" and then it said "-1500", either way, probably would have been better to always round the same, and always round down, so "2K" means "more than 2K" so you always know you actually have an amount or not.
Oct 9 04:09:43 24h 53m A Fishermans Friendly Island Builder ♥ 1 Would be much simpler to just link directly to your download instead of a git repo? https://github.com/Lombax94/LudumDare45_TheGame/raw/master/LD%2045%20_%20The%20Game.zip Saves us all some clicks!
Oct 9 04:19:02 9m 19s Creation - a weird story of how nothing can become something ♥ 1 That was interesting. I also suddenly died, had a few thousand, the previous event was building a temple in the wilderness, next it popped up "population is growing at an alarming rate" or something, but it said Humans: 0 in the corner... Also, no touching!
Oct 9 04:41:53 22m 51s NoGo45 ♥ 0 A couple little gripes: when picking up coins the sound is pretty delayed, seems like the coin disappears on screen long before I hear it; had some collision problems getting to a coin I could see at the beginning, between a couple trees, but couldn't squeeze through, seem to get stuck when sliding alongside some trees. I almost died after getting enemies, because I could not find any way to hurt them, and there was no attack upgrade available (when I bought the enemies) - if it would have shown that upgrade was coming, that would have helped a lot. Apparently the "hit yourself with your own shots" bug also affects enemies, saw a little blue guy kill himself, I think, so at least it's fair =). Was kind of fun, although got a bit repetitive, nothing much interesting happened after I got a good attack down. Enjoyed the atom bomb =).
Oct 10 00:21:28 19h 39m 0 to 100 ♥ 1 Pretty cool! A few times I moused over "add to party" or "chase away" and instantly died, once I saw that my mouse was on a newly-appearing square, perhaps I wasn't in exactly the center of the text. Had a lot of trouble with some of the minigames at the default resolution, but then I switched to full-screen and it got much easier =). Got really confused for a bit when in the bottom you used divide (÷) and then up top you used percent (%), which often means "modulo" instead of "division", and I did not see the appropriate remainder anywhere in the list of options =). I won, in the end. Love your characters and art style, music is also pretty great.
Oct 10 00:30:01 8m 33s White Starts With Nothing ♥ 1 Neat idea, and interesting application of the theme. I won the game I played, but I can take no credit, the AI did most of the work, picking up the slack from my poor choices.
Oct 10 00:42:24 12m 23s Grow quickly ♥ 1 My score: 4375. That was pretty cool! LOL'd at the last bonus item. Controls once and a while didn't do what I expected (maybe I was trying to start doing something right before a previous animation finished, and ended up whistling into thin air instead of watering or picking what I wanted), but only a few times, so wasn't a big deal. Liked the sound and music.
Oct 15 02:15:50 121h 33m Alcindor the Alchemist ♥ 0 Neat. I really enjoyed the water and fire. Game had a pretty nice, consistent visual feel that I enjoyed. I couldn't ever figure out how to successfully use a potion to do anything useful, seems like usually they did nothing, once in a while they left a water spot on the floor, but I never managed to defeat a demon :(.
Oct 15 02:31:48 15m 58s Lucifer's Rise ♥ 3 It took me quite a while to figure out what the "submit button" was. Pressing Escape didn't exit the shop, but instead exits fullscreen :( (then exits the shop on a separate button press) - I'd recommend another key for that! Well, Space seemed to exit the shop once, but then after that (or perhaps after I tried to run off of the left of the main screen), space stopped working for jumping, until I got damaged, and then it started working again. I made it up to about 240 money when I suddenly got hit when none was liquid and the game ended :(. Really like the main character art, the bunnies could have used a little more polish, I think =). Sound was good, not annoying and fit well =).
Oct 15 02:55:04 23m 16s flue ♥ 1 My first game went very quick and very well: first card revealed: ♥10, then played ♥9 ♥8 ♥2 ♣10 ♣9 ♣7. I win, not exhausting at all! Second game: I had very few choices along the way, 20 exhaust. Third game, 0 exhaust again. As soon as I get a heart bigger than an Ace, I seem to do fine =). Rules question on my second game: when I have nothing, I reveal until I have something that is not a club. If I reveal a spade, and play it, do I correctly interpret the rules as saying I must then play the club(s) that were earlier revealed? Or should you generally reveal until you have a non-club? When talking about "exhaust", you call it "draw", but in other places I believe you refer to the same action as "reveal", would be good to be consistent. Thanks for including the plaintext version, I could not figure out what "2s Exhaust" meant =). That was simple, and yet fairly fun, and involved (at least a little) more thinking and strategy than most solitaire games I've ever played!
Oct 15 03:25:45 30m 41s Conjury: The Convocation the RPG ♥ 0 I'm pretty certain when I clicked "Use net deck 1" I had 1 unspent character skill point, and it went away :(. It would have been nice to see the play style/card type colors in the Edit Character screen, reading the text to remind myself which one was which was way harder than just remembering "green beats red" =). Since the rewards were the same (just less often) for the bigger tournament, there didn't seem to be much reason to play anything other than easy local tournaments to build up stat points. I ended up winning the game without cheating (other than once to try it out...) with a Combo:5/Strategy:7 deck. For a while I wasted putting points into "observation" because I thought more information would make things more interesting, but in the end just putting all of my points into one card+strategy type seemed to be the best tactic, which wasn't super interesting. I think if I had put my starting 13 (15?) character points all into Strategy (or whatever matched an available 'net deck') it would have gone much quicker =). Nice job on the game! That's a lot of content and systems to get done, and they all worked pretty well, and was interesting!
Oct 15 03:41:40 15m 55s Create! ♥ 2 That was fun to explore! I never managed to create Aliens though.
Oct 15 03:50:09 8m 29s Seven Dwarves Brawl ♥ 1 Pretty neat! Really like the visuals, nice and clean, runs well, starts quickly =). I feel I didn't have many interesting choices when playing - usually ended up winning because the dealer kept getting unlucky, or losing because I drew two dwarves in my first two cards when clicking "fold+draw" ^_^.
Oct 30 21:06:59 377h 16m Blank Page ♥ 1 That is an amazing game, congrats on a well-deserved gold medal! I finally managed to 100% it, and it was challenging and rewarding. Really nice puzzle design!
