| May 15 02:58:33 | Styx It To The Man | ♥ 1 | Real Shinigami don't buy Steering upgrades. Love the feel of this! Really like how, especially as I get a bigger ship, I decide it's okay to lose a passenger or two each time, but I still feel bad about it. Bugged me that the water-wheel propulsion upgrade was spinning the wrong way, my ship should be moving backwards ^_^. I managed to retire. I feel like the Styx is awfully crowded, there must be another Charon up the way who's not doing his job... or are those all the fareless? | |
| May 15 03:20:10 | 21m 37s | Tecuhtliztacuhxochitl's Sacrifice Simulator | ♥ 1 | Loved it! I love trying to figure out combinations of people and roles to sacrifice, and seeing a new population born that I know I can groom into the perfect sacrifice when they get older. Amused that my town was like 4 old people throwing all the young people to the gods, until, finally, one day, the young ones sacrificed the 5 old guys to victory! Fantastic (if unintentional) emergent story =). |
| May 15 03:40:25 | 20m 15s | Lifeforms In Space | ♥ 1 | I enjoyed slowly conquering the galaxy, but I feel like I did not have any threat or challenge. I was never even close to losing a battle, never had to flee, just steamrolled over the map. A little more challenge would have made it interesting. Watching the battles was fun, and sometimes a little suspenseful, but my ships seemed to almost always gets the shots off on the right targets just in time to avert disaster =). |
| May 15 04:11:00 | 30m 35s | Arrow of Light | ♥ 1 | That was pretty great! I loved the sound track and how bits of it tied each of the themes together. Really challenging at first, but wasn't too bad when I got the hang of it, and thank goodness you could re-load from the start of a level when you die! I tried plugging in my gamepad, but the UI just went crazy (was constantly moving around in the configuration screen) and couldn't get it to work, but I managed to suffer through on keyboard. |
| May 15 04:18:17 | 7m 17s | Life Merchant | ♥ 1 | Love the look and feel of this, good ol' Game Boy feeling. The puzzles were a little too simple, seemed that, other than in a couple cases the greedy solution of just hitting and pushing and buying everything tended to work ^_^. I only ever had to restart the very first level. Really enjoyed that the old man power is "bore them to sleep" =). |
| May 15 05:01:47 | 43m 30s | Lunch Lord | ♥ 0 | Great game! I ended up playing much, much longer than I expected =). Was only ever able to survive a couple days, only saw the first 4 summons, though :(. Really challenging! |
| May 15 05:17:25 | 15m 38s | TheDescent | ♥ 1 | If I played in anything other than 1600x900, UI was messed up, borders didn't match, clickable area off. 4:3 aspect resolutions seemed especially bad. Seems to work fine at 1600x900 though. Really enjoyed this! Was fairly challenging, but forgiving in how I kept coming back to life. Definitely got to one room that just needed like 12 life to open all the doors so I sacrificed myself 4 times, but that felt pretty okay with the theme =). I never found a weapon in my playthrough (must be random, which is cool), but did managed to beat the game! |
| May 15 17:41:11 | 12h 23m | 2nd Bank | ♥ 2 | Neat game! I found the controls a bit difficult, due to the rotation (when pressing down and left, my character goes up and left, have to stick to cardinal directions and tilt my head, I guess), and due to it being unclear if I was lined up with interactables - a little bit of visual indication where the cash register, etc, lights up when in range, letting me know pressing Space would do something would have really helped! Great art, and an impressive amount of variety between the banks. |
| May 15 18:06:45 | 25m 34s | Bloodalchemist | ♥ 1 | Neat game! I enjoyed making everything and keeping a stock on hand for customers, however eventually I realized satisfying customers wasn't particularly useful and just harvested my blood into healing potions, and gave customers a "free" potion (which seemed to give a *much* better reward...) when necessary, until I won. Also ran into the bug others mentioned where I seem to get focus stuck on an interactable, so whenever I press F I would do that (first I got stuck on a bush, so I could press F anywhere to pick a berry, later stuck on brewing a potion, which was also useful ^_^). I found the raw resources spawned too quickly, would be better if they were slower so I would have to occasionally go and check on them and harvest, instead of just going there and rapidly pickup up everything over and over until I had as much as I wanted. |
| May 16 18:57:47 | 24h 51m | Heat of the Star | ♥ 1 | Watch seems to not work as described (survey does nothing when you own just a watch, maybe strictly need a sextant too?). But, hmm, on my second game, when I bought the watch (after the sextant, and for water, not cash), I actually got an on-screen watch, so maybe something went wrong the first time and I didn't actually buy it. First game, I bought a camel, but was never able to buy anything to carry more water, and everyone I ran into wanted at least 100% of my water to buy anything, so couldn't really get anywhere. Next game there was a water barrel for sale at the beginning, made all the difference! Was able to buy everything I came across then. After a long, long journey, I was able to find the treasure! I liked the music, didn't get annoying even after playing close to an hour. Horizon view was pretty cool. Visuals were nice and consistent, and I didn't seem to run into any bugs except maybe the watch issue. Nice job! And nice job on 15 in a row, this is my 12th consecutive Ludum Dare, I'm catching up! ;) |
| May 17 02:46:47 | 7h 49m | Blood Cards | ♥ 1 | The UI doesn't show up right at most resolutions I tried, but eventually found 1600x900 windowed mode seems to work, maybe has to be a 16:9 resolution to display right? You might want to set the defaults to be something that works =). It seemed like if I took any damage, my shields went down to zero, but if I killed everyone, I was allowed to stockpile shields for the next round, which seemed odd. I played for quite a few rounds, things got harder, and then suddenly they got really easy, maybe I hit the end of the difficultly curve ^_^. I did enjoy it! The multiplier slider was kind of interesting, would have been even more interesting if there was some increasing cost or something (e.g. x3 cost x4) so it wasn't just trivial math of (choose the multiplier with each card that kills exactly one thing). |
| May 17 03:18:01 | 31m 14s | Remember | ♥ 1 | Typos: * which **extent** upwards -> **extend** * be **brace** enough -> **brave** My score: 395/700. That was neat. I'm not one for narrative games, but since my entry was all text this compo, I thought I should give this one a try ;). Impressive how much content there is, and it was pretty well written, good job! |
| May 17 03:31:29 | 13m 28s | Designated Victim | ♥ 1 | Neat game! I'm pretty terrible at this kind of game, finally, after about 5 attempts, made it through 4 rooms ^_^. Had fun though, and all the art was good! |
| May 17 03:44:28 | 12m 59s | Coin Collector | ♥ 1 | Pretty simple, but not bad! I played for a while, then had some lucky exchange rate and banked 400 coins, and then I just repeatedly threw myself into a pit until I ran out of money ;). |
| May 17 04:05:10 | 20m 42s | GERYDAS TOWER | ♥ 0 | "Sacrifice all your gold"? Hah, the joke's on you, I don't have any gold! After my first attempt, I didn't find anything to do with gold, so my second attempt I just avoided all monsters until I happened to find a shop on level 9 ^_^. Maybe there were other shops, but I never saw them. Was definitely easier avoiding than fighting for me, though, and that got me to the end of the game. Maybe having an indicator that there's a shop on the current level would give me a reason to search for it and to kill things =). Nice, well polished, I like your maze generation. |
| May 17 17:45:35 | 13h 40m | 15 Hearts | ♥ 1 | Interesting game. Took me a while to figure out how the combat mechanic worked, as it was sometimes counter intuitive (I had like 10 hearts, rolled a zero against someone who appeared to do 1 damage, and they killed me, I expected I'd just lose some hearts!). Simple but effective visuals. |
| May 17 17:52:26 | 6m 51s | Hero | ♥ 0 | I got to 250 money before I decide to read the source to see what all the text says. Nice narration, I like it =). I like the pixel art too. A little gameplay would have been good though =). |
| May 17 18:21:43 | 29m 17s | Contract Cleric | ♥ 1 | I played, and died, a few times before figuring out how this is properly played. You have a typo, the game is called "Contract Necromancer". I had my pet skeleton corner these cowardly adventurers, sucking their life while I sucked their coffers, until my church had sufficient funding. Your life is MY currency, mwhahahah. Great game, both as intended, and the, apparently unintentional, darker interpretation of the theme. The cast time animations were pretty hard to see (I think that's the cause of some people's comments, confusion above), could have used something more clear there (darken out other abilities and show a counter or put the green vertical swipe on top of the icon or something). |
| May 18 00:39:54 | 6h 18m | Depths | ♥ 1 | You reminded me I still haven't caught up on Dr Who... Why does the message at the end say "EVIL"? ;) Great game, and cool for making it for the NES ^_^. My only complaint is that it was really easy to get stuck on things (if you run into a wall/raft/etc, always had to take a step backwards, couldn't move parallel to the wall). |
| May 18 00:58:46 | 18m 52s | A day at the farm | ♥ 0 | I collected 2712 blood and maxed out my blood sword before I accidentally clicked off the window and immediately died to some kind of Green Sheep of Death. Or is that a Shubbery? Cool game! I was only ever able to effectively make use of 1 or sometimes 2 plots of land, so the farming could be made more interesting if they took longer to grow, and stuck around longer to get picked up. Some other kind of seeds to plant (more expensive, longer, but more payout, or repeated blood berry drops that only stick around for a short time, or something) could make the farming more interesting too. |
| May 18 01:06:57 | 8m 11s | Unbalanced Silly Slot Game | ♥ 1 | This game is silly and unbalanced. My last game ended when a High Roller managed to win 42 million... that did, in fact, bankrupt me ^_^. I seemed to be usually unable to stop people from playing, even if shooting them as well as I could, it seemed only about 1 in 10 actually said "Nah!" before getting to the slots. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but ended up just mostly watching them play and take my money. Liked the audio. Nice job getting something done in a short time, I also only had about 6 hours to work on my submission :). |
| May 18 01:39:05 | 32m 08s | Protect The Dungeon | ♥ 1 | I made it to round 14, at which point the adventurers enjoyed a stroll through my fully upgraded dungeon. Only realized I could stack monsters on round 13, maybe would have done better had I realized that earlier =). Was boring at first, seemed like there was very little choice in what to do, even when unlocking the green guys, as the skeletons seemed more efficient (killed more people per dollar than the green guys), though I think that math probably changes later when there's a swarm of guys, but I didn't really have time to figure it out at that point ^_^. Really liked the style of this. A little sound would have helped a lot, I think =). |
| May 18 04:22:47 | 2h 43m | Galaxy Explorer | ♥ 1 | That was a lot of fun! It took me a while to find the last resource type, but when I did, I quickly got a ship and refineries on every planet and I think I "won" =). The right-click feature was critical, however it *STOPS WORKING* if you ever press *R* to restart the game (I'd be willing to bet it tries to cycle back to the non-existent ship from the earlier game ;). I had to exit out, start a new game, and then it worked. Was a lot of fun paying attention to the physics of the planets without being able to really *see* them until I got close. I would have liked a little more feedback on what was going on with planets, and which planet was which resource (maybe use the same icons next to the arrows instead of just colors), which took a while to get used to. |
| May 18 04:55:32 | 32m 45s | Token Life | ♥ 1 | That was great! Took me a while to notice the side doors... I played about 5 generations before getting lucky and managing to get a single legacy token that didn't take hexagons (where are hexagons from, I wondered?!), and then found absolutely nothing I could do with legacy tokens for the next few generations and finally found the side doors ^_^. I then went on to be emperor. I love the aesthetic of playing with this box and moving currency around. |
| May 18 05:01:46 | 6m 14s | Monolith | ♥ 1 | Yay for pure Javascript. I love games where I do not have to sit through the Unity loading screen for a minute =). Nice aesthetic, nice and clean. Controls were good. I managed to explore the entire monolith on my first light drone, so could definitely used some additional content or difficulty. |
