Very interesting concept!
Neat concept. Took a bit for me to figure out how to do everything but I did like playing God! Muahahaha
I really like using the aztec theme for this ludum !
Great Concept And Game Play..!
Echoing comments above, it was a bit tricky to figure out, but looked functionally complete. Some behaviors seemd buggy (like choosing professions) but it wasn't clear if this was because I wasn't allowed to, or the checkboxes just weren't working properly.
I see what you're trying to achieve, but it might be worth doing some bug fixing or simply adding detailed instructions for luddites like me.
@fireslash The way to change a profession is to click People, click on a specific person, click on the desired profession, and click 'Change Profession'.
The People tab doesn't allow you to select multiple people at once, and changing to the People tab auto-selects the first person. I think there could be some buggy behaviour when a selected person dies, but it shouldn't happen too often.
Takes a while to figure out what to do but when you starts to understand it's a pretty fun game. Great concept.
This is one of those games that you NEED to take some time to get into in order to get what the game is about. But when you do that, it is great. Impressive depth for a Ludum Dare entry!
One of the best games, so far. It was pretty funny to me. Took a while till I understood what i was doing. But the sacrifice for the victory didn't work :( Graphics of course are not the best, but this game doesn't really need them. Good Job!
@philipprapp95 Yea, we didn't actually add any victory or defeat screens. I thought that some people might want to continue to get upgrades and so the game continues. It definitely could have been handled better though, for example a victory screen with a button to go back to the game.
The name really did it for me XD I spent a good five minutes trying to read it. It is a very interesting and creative concept. Very nice! Keep it up!
Unfortunately I won't have the time to get too deeply into this, but it seems incredibly well crafted and thought through. When I played it my birth rate dropped to zero though and I could not quite figure out why. You have my respect for what you created though!
Once I understood the mechanics I got really far but after 10 minutes, the drought killed 5 out of my 7 people. I like the concept and the depth of the game. To have a profession system and so many attributes for the people is quite impressive. Great job on that!
ooh, I liked this! Definitely took me some time to figure everything out, but it was totally worth it :) For learning the game it's also very useful that you guys built in a pause option, but once I knew what the game was about and what i was supposed to, I tried to challenge myself and not use the pause button at all. I can tell you, panic was had ;). I also conceptually enjoyed that the game kept going after I finished it, but some victory notification would have been nice of course. Overall this is one of the best games from this Ludum Dare that I've played so far, well done!
Loved it! I love trying to figure out combinations of people and roles to sacrifice, and seeing a new population born that I know I can groom into the perfect sacrifice when they get older. Amused that my town was like 4 old people throwing all the young people to the gods, until, finally, one day, the young ones sacrificed the 5 old guys to victory! Fantastic (if unintentional) emergent story =).
I had tons of fun! It took me a little while to understand how to play, but I ended up going to completion. I would've liked a "game won" screen instead of the game just continuing. At some points, it felt too fast-paced, with two or three events going on at once and not enough time to plan, but that might be because I didn't see the pause button. The music tended to be repetitive but fit the setting nicely. A very enjoyable game, and impressive for something made during a jam!
Played several games and able to manage things ok. Some win conditions seemed to hard to meet, like x5 lvl 7 warriors - then most people would be starving if I was able to get that many people. There's definitely a delicate balance between surviving and advancing the peoples. The whole system was interesting between farmers soldiers and civvies. I was able to get away with fighting by switching people to solider at the very last sec, but people didn't retain their levels so it undid any progression I made. Keep up the good work!
