This was incredibly entertaining. I loved the dinosaurs (though they kept snacking on my humans). Played through it again (avoiding the dinosaurs) and was wondering if there was an end and indeed, a truly fitting ending for such a game.

christophebessette 2019-10-07 17:02

Its a cute game but I couldn't go past the slider part

dqmhose 2019-10-07 17:06

@jwiggs Thanks! I intended to have many more events involving dinosaurs and eventually both humans and dinosaurs but time ran out, so I just made it reeeeaaally hard for the humans to survive (for now). The game has a huge amount of endings :D

@christophebessette Thanks! You could just restart and play from the start again. The slider part is a puzzle that may require Google or some scientific knowledge of the atmosphere, but yeah, maybe I should've explained that better or removed it alltogether.

Thanks for playing!

That narrator keeps closing the game on me! And my humans are happy... too happy... suspiciously happy...

kelrol 2019-10-07 17:27

This is really well made! Despite the events being random, I felt that my choices had an impact, especially when the explorers came back with exotic food. Additionally, your sense of humour is golden!

douwe-ravers 2019-10-07 18:22

very funny game. I liked it a lot.

pietptr 2019-10-07 18:56

Great humor! It looks like you spent a lot of time in actual content for the game instead of just the mechanics.

*boop*

ktao 2019-10-07 19:15

I like it! It was pretty intriguing and feels like you put a lot of effort into the humor (which is good). I really like making choices for humanity, although all of my humans ended up dying out due to depression... so maybe it's a good thing this is just a game!

dqmhose 2019-10-07 19:17

@ktao Thanks! I'm always worried my humor is weird or too German, so I'm always reaaaally glad when people tell me it's funny :D

blint6 2019-10-07 19:54

This game really feels complete by its various paths. Having the last path you wanted would have been a luxury, as there are already plenty of details in subpaths that are really enjoyable. And yes, they are funny ;) conrgats

skalex 2019-10-07 19:58

For a game that was made in only two days, it feels super polished! Really, really well done all round! Definately the best game i've played so far!

ivanpavlov 2019-10-07 20:18

Awesome feature on Pressing V. Seems like it uses current system´s voice

dqmhose 2019-10-07 20:31

@ivanpavlov Whoops! That is apparently a feature of the engine/tool/maker (Ren'Py) I didn't even notice. I think I would've deactivated that, if I had known about it because I really didn't do that myself and I wouldn't want it to affect any ratings. Maybe adjust your rating, if you gave one. Thanks for telling me about it, though! And thanks for playing!

nachtwitch 2019-10-07 20:34

love the game idea, great job

toxiccomputer 2019-10-07 20:50

Cool Game. Reminded it of my game submission as well since we both chose a evolution/space theme.

scott-armstrong 2019-10-07 22:37

Lovely little game that starts as a text editor but turns into a wacky Earth simulator. Many different paths lead to dead-ends, which is fun and encourages multiple playthroughs. For hard mode, always spawn Dinosaurs on the planet, you can still win. Events become repetitive and often don't make sense for the amount of people on the planet (expeditions while you have 8 billion, or a new play is released while you have 20), so hope you polish and expand that part some more, since those events are the core "gameplay" here.

hcursino 2019-10-08 05:49

I was having a good time by playing a absent God, humans were populating and they were happy. Then I received a message saying that the humans were populating too much and my numbers went from 2K humans to -4K, then I lost the game because I ran out of humans. Some miss calculation finished my game way too early for me. But still, this was a really interesting concept and I had a lot of fun. Good job.

dqmhose 2019-10-08 07:51

@scott-armstrong Thanks! Yes, I grossly misjudged how much time it takes to add and refine events and play through them to see if they make sense and how they balance each other out. Starting out, I had 3 tiers of events, depending on how many humans (and/or dinosaurs) are alive but after a few hours of fleshing out just a couple of events, I scrapped it for now. If it ever turns into a real thing, I will most definitely polish and expand on the events a lot.

@hcursino Thanks! Yes, some events are way out of balance. I heavily misjudged just how difficult it is to balance stuff and get the math "just right". Due to time limitations I eventually scrapped "tiered" events, so from time to time a calculation goes horribly wrong. It's probably the text-adventure version of physics going haywire :D

rensei 2019-10-08 14:30

That *boop* explosion made my heart go nuts . I miss some kind of soundtrack, and the sounds that were in the game were a bit too loud. I liked the number of choices and how everything changed, because of some of them. The random events were insteresting. Good job overall!

robowarrior1982 2019-10-08 19:35

The menu is very clear and nice, the narrator who help to break the 4 wall is a very good idea and add some humor, althrough graphics are so pixelize, with better graphics and a touch of animation there will be a great game. A good idea !

lombax 2019-10-08 19:42

interesting. managed to get to 600k humans, then i suddenly died? dunno why, faith was lvl 2. happiness was above 200. oh well... having a small animation running at the bottom of the screen, showing the building of a shrine, or going to war. would make this realy funny, if the small animations are made funny ofc... gj :dog: :dog: (something "easy" like, running from left to right. a bunch of vikings or something)

jimbly 2019-10-09 04:19

That was interesting. I also suddenly died, had a few thousand, the previous event was building a temple in the wilderness, next it popped up "population is growing at an alarming rate" or something, but it said Humans: 0 in the corner...

Also, no touching!

dqmhose 2019-10-09 08:00

@robowarrior1982 thanks for playing! Yes, I suck at making graphics. For a Jam entry or an iteration of this, I would definitely work with an actual artist on the graphics :D

@lombax Thanks for playing and the ideas! I can't really do graphics very well but what you're suggesting sounds great if I ever revisit the project. Also, you died because the humans were "too happy" .. I think I didn't really make this clear enough in the narration.. (also it doesn't really make sense, but I wanted to put a cap on things without doing too much math again)

@jimbly Mh, sorry! This is probably a math error that's my fault :D I never worked with this engine before, so its "flow" sometimes lead to .. "interesting" results. Thanks for playing and thanks for telling me, I'll investigate and see if I can find any issues :D

thirdface 2019-10-09 13:54

got to a cupple hungred milion people)

yonman 2019-10-14 10:40

Nice game. It is very interesting to see what happens according to my decisions.

hellper 2019-10-14 15:22

That was pleasant. I'm wondering if it could be better with more situation and arts to represent the evolution because it was a bit repetitive ^^"

oakwarrior 2019-10-14 15:43

Definitely an interesting take :D Could use some more polish, and could well be a nice, entertaining experience ^_^

jam373 2019-10-14 17:35

Wow really cool! you say you ad to cut a lot of things, but there seems to be loads of content here. Well done for making such a replayable game.

dqmhose 2019-10-14 19:04

@hellper yes, definitely. I had to cut a lot of content due to time running out. Thanks for playing!

bip 2019-10-14 20:27

Very interesting game, there could definitely be more content to keep it from being so linear, but it's a game jam so that's all understandable. I had a load of fun going through everything, but after a few minutes everything seemed to stale out and get a bit too repetitive.

nsadie 2019-10-14 22:04

By spamming science I got to 1,000,000,000+ but the human race died by depression. If only they had this game to play...

lexyvil 2019-10-16 15:31

I love all the different options you can have depending on the situations~

solah 2019-10-17 11:41

Very good game, I really enjoyed the relation with the narrator. Finally my favorite part of the game was before even the creation of the universe x). Good job!
