Apr 23 21:43:06 Avenue Zed ♥ 0 Brilliant take on the theme! Pacing feels right, it begins quite simple and then becomes increasingly tricky with each new level. I also liked that both core mechanics interacted together (waves would stop before crossing the road, for example). At first, in fact, I'd assumed that the TD mechanics could actually depend fully on the traffic simulation, and then I noticed the turret building buttons ๐Ÿ˜… Some sound effects could have helped with the mood, but time runs fast on a compo game and you already packed a lot of content. Congrats!
Apr 23 22:15:11 32m 05s Rhythm Jumper ♥ 0 Nice idea, with great music! It could use some clearer way communicate the proper timings, though. I wasn't sure if I was failing because I was out of tune (which I probably was in some cases, but in others I couldn't hear the pattern), and trying to use the platform animations seemed to have contradictory effects. If you improve these things you have quite a promising entry here. Good job!!
Apr 23 22:37:04 21m 53s Tetrodef ♥ 1 I love the concept and the graphics! I'm undecided about the choice of physics for the tower stacks. On the one hand it favours skill and careful timing, but it can also be frustrating. In particular, the ground tower had some recoil when it was shooting that would cause it to drop to the ground (potentially bringing a whole turret down), and that felt a bit unfair. The music track is catchy, but the sounds didn't match together. Even if I'm nitpicking, I really liked the game. The execution felt pretty solid and the game is fun. Great job!
Apr 23 22:55:58 18m 54s BIRKANOID ♥ 1 Amazing art style, full of character; brilliant take on the theme (this game is a clear example of the things I was expecting when I voted for the theme) and impressive execution in general, packed with content (16 levels!) The only area that wasn't so strong as the rest was the sound effects. Retro-sounds are a perfect fit for retro graphics, but some of them felt a bit rough and grating. Congratulations for a great game! :)
Apr 24 21:38:50 22h 42m Tetratower ♥ 1 The first thing that caught my eye were, obviously, the graphics. Cute, colourful and more polished than supposedly finished games. Some serious work was done here. Gameplay-wise, the idea is a great take on the theme, and the game was pretty fun. Keeping track of both sides is challenging (this is a plus for me!) but at times keeping both areas in track could get tricky. While controls were clearly detailed, I think I'm too conditioned from other Tetris variants to use the "up" key to rotate, which would have left the space bar to switch boards in a slightly more natural way. Despite this, the game was quite responsive and, as with art, it all was really solid all along. And last, the audio does not qualify but the music choice was a great fit. Impressive job, congrats to the team! :D
Apr 24 22:22:36 43m 46s Soul Sword ♥ 2 Loving it so far. Graphics and sound/music look amazingly polished, and gameplay is quite solid as well. I liked the choice you have to make between returning to base or risking your loot by venturing forward. That part and the idle mechanics reminded me a bit of Nongรผnz. I had some issues at the beginning when I picked the first bones, because they didn't appear anywhere else and the coins counter wouldn't change. At first I thought it was a bug, and a bit later I realised why it wasn't. ๐Ÿ˜… Perhaps some less similar-looking graphics could help, or some clearer feedback. I also got the "loot outside the level boundaries" bug. Still, despite these relatively minor issues, I've really enjoyed the game. Congrats!
Apr 24 22:44:34 21m 58s FLAPPYKARUGA ♥ 1 Both mechanics blended amazingly well together. At first it sounded like combining the colour switch mechanic with the flaps could be challenging to coordinate, but it works perfectly. I suck at Flappy Bird games, though, so I'm still struggling to get past 2000 points. On my first crashes against the ground/walls I was tempted to blame the game for being unfair or "something something collisions!", but a closer, more cold-headed second look showed me the ugly truth: I was playing like crap. To nitpick a bit, the blend of 2D sprites for the obstacles and 3D-ish ships didn't click with me. Other than that I think you pulled off a really solid entry. Awesome job!
Apr 24 23:08:04 23m 30s MechaSnek ♥ 2 Wow, it almost looks and plays like a finished game. You chose a blend of genres that worked great. Controls felt smooth, and both the graphics and sound were great, consistent and super polished. The only bit to improve...I have to agree with the comment about the follow cam. While I was playing I didn't really notice, but now I'm feeling a bit dizzy because of the twists. Slightly related to the cam, too, it would have been cool to be able to see the enemies at all times. Despite these two things, this is one of the best games I've seen so far, and I bet it'll remain that way.Hope you can continue working on this towards a full game. Congrats! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป
Apr 24 23:27:18 19m 14s Super Fun Action Chess ♥ 1 Nice take on the theme, and great graphics! Even if the units didn't move particularly fast, the fact that you need to be aware of lots of them doing stuff at the same time made the game really intense. I really liked this. Great job! :)
Apr 24 23:34:41 7m 23s Rhythm and Cube ♥ 0 โ€‹It won't let me open the *.rar file. I'm using 7zip, and I normally can extract rar files just fine. Any ideas?
Apr 25 20:31:53 20h 57m Rolling Soccer ♥ 1 Awesome concept, super wacky! The two core mechanics blend amazingly well, and it feels pretty solid already. As for controls, I didn't have many issues trying to slide on the AI, but trying to guide the ball was a bit hard. I somehow ended up scoring on my own goal a couple of times -just when I'd managed to stick a large amount of items ๐Ÿ˜ญ With a bit more polish (and sounds!), this has a lot of potential as a multiplayer game in the vein of Overcooked or Rocket League (I tried it on single player and enjoyed it a lot, but I can easily imagine the potential this could have by playing with friends). Congrats!! :D:D
Apr 25 20:39:21 7m 28s 1884 - Golf over Africa! ♥ 0 Brilliant concept! I played for two players so it got repetitive after a while, but I can imagine how the experience will become way better when facing others. Some sounds or an AI mode, would have been welcome additions, but for a 48h compo entry this already feels very solid. Great job!
Apr 26 20:36:40 23h 57m Tetris Crush Saga ♥ 1 Nice idea, and quite solid overall. I liked the pixel graphics, and the music track was a good fit. The fact that you need to click is interesting: it lets you gamble a bit on how large you can make the coloured groups before a bat tetromino ruins it. It's occurred to me...did you consider to make blocks to be cleared automatically as soon as you assembled a 4+ patch instead? My only "complain" so far is that I couldn't determine the exact criteria that caused blocks to fall down when they became detached, it felt a bit arbitrary at times. Other than this, congrats!
Apr 26 21:31:35 54m 55s Crash Crops ♥ 0 I saw some gifs on Twitter during the weekend and reminded myself I had to play this one. The take on the theme is very clever, and the implementation really solid. It's easy to think about more types of crops, or powerups that can alter the ball or paddle to change the experience, but the core is here and I think it works great. The graphics were cute and clear to grasp, and although I'm aware that it's a compo game, I have to say that I missed a bit of music to round it all even more. The sounds alone could end up a bit repetitive. Amazing work! :)
Apr 26 23:47:11 2h 15m Restructive ♥ 1 So cute! The plot twist made me smile (even if you anticipated it on the game description I had completely bought into the destructive Kaiju at first), and I really liked both the graphics and quiet, relaxing music In terms of gameplay, it all felt pretty solid, the crane motion was a cool detail and while having an ending would have been a nice touch I spent quite a while just enjoying the rebuilding process. Congrats!
Apr 26 23:50:24 3m 13s SURVABY ♥ 2 The combination of themes worked too well, the moment you have to start deciding between attacking the zombies or continue to tend for the babies the game gets super tense. Congrats on this! Sound design contributes a lot to the atmosphere, and the graphics were cute and creepy at the same time. Gameplay felt smooth, but I agree with other comments about the item collision areas. Sometimes picking the feeding bottle up was a bit tricky. It is not a big deal, though. You've pulled off a really interesting entry. Congrats!
Apr 27 08:55:17 9h 04m Dungeon of High School romance ♥ 1 This was brilliant! The blend of themes was unusual, and it worked great. Nice humour bits and rogue-like mechanics sold me completely. Also, I really liked the addition of dialogue + choice during the dungeons. Some text colours to better distinguish the entities on each level would have been nice, but other than that the game feels already very solid. I managed to get through two dates as a nerd, but I still suck at love ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Apr 27 22:11:28 13h 16m Boxing Surgery Simulator 2000 ♥ 2 It almost looks like a finished game, the amount of polish is amazing ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Besides the execution, the take on the theme is fantastic, with lots of humorous details and a great atmosphere. This said, while I was able to manage to figure out which item would fix what (and I enjoyed that), in combat I never had a clue on what I was doing exactly. Congratulations, this is one of the best entries I've played so far!
Apr 27 22:27:57 16m 29s YOU LEFT ME. ♥ 1 Art style was hauntingly beautiful, even with the surreal horror bits (it was part of the charm for me).
Apr 27 22:43:25 15m 28s Alchemix ♥ 1 Amazing job! The combination of match mechanics with the mix-and-see-what-happens worked really well, with some cool details such as having certain tokens spread around the board when you managed to match a recipe. The execution is also very solid, the music in particular had this relaxing vibe I really liked. Although I've only played the web version, I can see it shining on mobile as a full game, it has a lot of potential. Congrats!
Apr 27 23:19:28 36m 03s StarClick: RTS + Clicker ♥ 1 Great take on the theme, and quite solid for a compo game, with a lot of content. I really liked the music in particular. Gameplay-wise I had a couple of issues with the controls that could stem from habit or expectations set when you've already played other RTS (I'm super far from an expert on the genre, but I've played quite a few for a long time): * When I selected a construction (*Place*, most of the time), the fact that the selection reset every time was a bit annoying, specially at the beginning. I was expecting to keep doing the same, and it took me a while that to bring back the construction menu you had to click on the base again. * Speaking of which, I had issues trying to "cancel" a placement action, even when there was a very obvious "Cancel" button on the panel ๐Ÿ˜…. This is a clear case of that RTS habit. In other gamees you normally cancel by clicking on empty spaces or things like that. Since this is pretty subjective after all I'm not sure if it would make sense to just make the "Cancel" button stand out more when available, or place it closer to the buttons so they appear connected. * I think I noticed a small bug: I'm not sure if it was because some of my units were actually long ranged and they deleted it, but I got the impression that one of the enemy units just disappeared out of a sudden. Despite the wall of text I really enjoyed playing. Most of these things are subjective or could be relatively easy to sort out, and the core of the game already works really well, so I can see the potential. Congrats!
Apr 29 19:51:57 44h 32m Dark Soil ♥ 1 I was holding high expectations from playing other entries of yours from past editions and they were met for sure! ๐Ÿ™‚ The take on the theme was well thought (most of my favourite entries so far include farming, so I'd dare say that farming + anything is a winning combination); music was catchy, gameplay was solid with smooth controls and player progression and the graphics had this blend of retro, creepy and cute style I really liked. As others have mentioned, eventually it got a bit repetitive, but I think you already have the core ready to quickly improve that part if you keep working on the game after the jam. A very good entry as usual, congrats! ๐Ÿ˜„
Apr 29 21:15:21 1h 23m Cropshots ♥ 0 Nice entry! You managed to blend farming and avoider mechanics seamlessly, and with a high level of polish, I really liked the visuals! Sometimes I felt fruits would disappear a bit too fast, but other than that I had a lot of fun with it. ยกFelicidades!
May 1 18:22:25 45h 07m Sheet Music Editor Shoot'Em Up ♥ 0 Impressive entry! The unusual blend of themes fit together fantastically, retro music was catchy and there were lots of nice tiny details here and there that made the game feel very polished. Changing notes in a single direction was a bit challenging at times if you needed to do a full cycle, but other than this the mechanics worked great. One of the best compo entries I've played so far. Congratulations!
May 1 22:00:52 3h 38m Rhythm Overdrive ♥ 3 Amazing entry! The degree of polish is not far from released products, and I had a lot of fun. Shmups+rhythm-based games can be really flow-inducing if done right, and this one has potential. A bit more content in terms of enemies and/or weapon upgrades and there it goes! :) Congrats! I also went with a rhythm-based game, but took a more manual approach to mark the significant beats instead of real detection, which is quite tricky to pull off (also, I was on my own, so I couldn't afford to spend a lot of time on a realistic system). For a given song with set BPM I used a cue sheet linked to a song that tracks what beats are important. (Ideally, there could be different sheets per song to support different difficulty levels or stuff like that).
