| Aug 25 10:30:00 | Caring Creature | I love puking on my babies! | |
| Aug 25 10:45:00 | 15m 00s | The Devil's Daughter | PROFANITY LASER!
I'm sad to lose my weapons when going through the portal though... |
| Aug 25 16:33:00 | 5h 48m | Monsterhythm | Game is nails! Addictive though...I fear my record is not very impressive: 7.8 seconds... |
| Aug 26 12:46:00 | 20h 13m | Hero Stomp | High score 11!

Great use of limited audio to give the game character. Maybe audio when they successfully steal treasure would be good, as that's the lose condition. |
| Aug 26 12:51:00 | 5m 00s | You are the Dragon | Nice concept - but I feel like the core gameplay isn't really proven yet. There's no way I could find to determine what the 'correct' attack is, nor even if there is such a thing of it's just random. That might be the next stage for development: feedback for the player on why a particular attack against this enemy worked out well or badly. |
| Aug 26 12:55:00 | 4m 00s | Trump Presents America® | Well that certainly woke me up...The imagery is truly terrifying. It is Dawn in America indeed. |
| Aug 26 13:04:00 | 9m 00s | MadMonsterMassacre [MMM] | 1756 enemies!

Love the graphics. Wasn't sure what the third ability did though, i'm guessing some kind of defensive move for use when everything's on cooldown? The pacing seemed a bit slow to start with - i thought i'd seen everything and was about to quit, just when i saw that "big wave incoming". Then it got hard really fast! Pretty fun though, very satisfying to SMASH. |
| Aug 26 13:08:00 | 4m 00s | Monster Date | Took a few tries, but I'm going home with Frankenstein <3 |
| Aug 26 13:14:00 | 6m 00s | Your Are The Slime! | Nice concept: but unfortunately a couple of issues that hindered my enjoyment:

- when behind a tree, you can't see what's happening
- I ate a human by a hut, which made me grow, but then it seemed I was stuck inside the hut and couldn't move any more

The humans could do with a bit of pathfinding too, as they basically just shot their own houses.

Mashing spacebar was a surprisingly fun way to eat though! om nom nom |
| Aug 26 13:28:00 | 14m 00s | Beware the Experiment | Hooray for destruction!

The blue guys didn't seem to do anything though unfortunately :(

Would've been nice to know exactly what kind of monster I was though. I just felt like some guy on a rampage. |
| Aug 26 16:07:00 | 2h 39m | Shadows and Cats | Interesting concept. Found a massive cluster of people all in a circle and ate them all at once and went FLYING!

...outside the level bounds :) |
| Aug 26 16:22:00 | 15m 00s | The Monster In Me | Grim, and really suspensful - I love it!

But: I didn't think of myself as the monster. I did all the right good nice things. Which obviously turned out awfully. But I'm monster-free! |
| Aug 27 06:56:00 | 14h 34m | Primary objective | This really took me back to playing old adventure games!
Love the art style and audio, but couldn't make it past the hoverbike puzzle - just like old times! ;) |
| Aug 27 08:33:00 | 1h 37m | Out West | That was cool! Loved how you manage to draw me into the game just with the text! SHUT UP MA I'M WRITING A REVIEW! So yeah that was great and I could really identify with the cha.. WHAT IS IT MA? ... I'LL DO THAT LATER!
Anyway great stuff! Why can't I judge for humour on this? |
| Aug 27 08:52:00 | 19m 00s | Drain Reaction | That was really fun! Simple gameplay but pretty deep already. Couldn't really get over the second wave after having to respawn on a bunch of cops. The only move that didn't seem to make much sense to me was to just repeatedly bite without holding, which was a lot of fun but yeah unfortunately I couldn't find a way how to make that part of my strategy. Did it a lot anyway because GNANG! GNANG! GNANG!
Besides I always wanted to a little Vampire since I was small and even though I didn't realize it at the time obivously a nuclear power plant is the best place to do it!
Thank you for allowing me to get that off my bucket list, I'll save the link to this game for later and see whether I can make it past the second wave. (Damm you cops!) |
| Aug 27 09:02:00 | 10m 00s | Cel | This is really good! Totally can see how this would work as a mobile game to play while commuting or something!
I think may be you could have still integrated the theme somehow by adding narration or backstory to the puzzles, since this already has a kind of calm labratory vibe to it but ultimately the game is probably better for not having included any of that. May be fluffy little juicy monsters? IDK.
Anway really like the calm style of this and the infographic look that really helped me understand the game even though I'm gloriously hung over from 3 days of jamming and partying. :)
Really nice work and again I think you should think about further developing and selling this as a mobile game somehow! Let us know if you do! |
| Aug 27 16:11:00 | 7h 09m | They Call Us Monsters | Great beginning! But I do want to know what happens next... |
| Aug 27 16:15:00 | 4m 00s | My planet needs me! | I had trouble getting past the bed. Maybe the failure is a bit too unforgiving? A small timer where you can escape if you run/hide quickly enough would be a good way to encourage people not to give up too fase. |
| Aug 27 16:24:00 | 9m 00s | Fear me! | Pretty fun puzzle - but I feel like a bit of a noob. I can't get past level 4. What am I missing? Guess i'd better look up a let's play... |
| Aug 27 16:30:00 | 6m 00s | Adula | Really awesome! I love the style and the animation of the monster movement is great. So's the ship.

Of course the only criticism is the length! There wasn't enough time to listen to the whole of the music track (also awesome). I really hope you have the time to expand on it, just 4-5 more screens would really flesh it out.

Also, the time-pressure mechanic is really nice, and keeps with the setting. |
| Aug 27 16:41:00 | 11m 00s | Don't get caught in focus | Interesting mechanic! But I fear it didn't quite have the tutorial it needed. It's a nice balance: loneliness vs being spotted. But I always just died of loneliness... |
| Aug 27 16:44:00 | 3m 00s | Don't eat them! | Unfortunately I'm not able to start the game. I open the .exe but nothing happens, and there's nothing in Task Manager either. running win 7. |
| Aug 27 16:58:00 | 14m 00s | Munchy Crunchy Trolly Woahly! | A surprisingly tense mechanic and game! But with something so simple, a tutorial would be good: it took a while to get the hang of it and I had to come back here and check the description. |
| Aug 27 17:04:00 | 6m 00s | Feed the Monster | Great premise and looks like it'll be an interesting story - but I couldn't complete it because I kept getting a bug where if I opened my inventory ingame it wouldn't show up and the game would freeze :(

Also: I guess the rumble mechanic is telling you you need a drink. Great idea, but can be a bit much to have the controller constantly rumbling. Just slow pulses would probably be sufficient. |
| Aug 27 17:09:00 | 5m 00s | Within | Really touching, personal entry. The mood and writing are really spot-on. The ending implied that there was more than one way it could've gone, but as far as I could tell there was only one way to progress through each screen.

Anyway, love the way the puzzles and story/analogy are tied together. Games that nail that are my favourite. |
| Aug 27 17:24:00 | 15m 00s | Monster System | DESTROY ALL THE THINGS

Really fun game - Couldn't work out the down-button attack though... |
| Aug 27 17:35:00 | 11m 00s | Cave Sweet Cave | Neat little game with some great progression and core mechanics. The wind is a really nice touch! |
| Aug 27 17:43:00 | 8m 00s | Something deep | A tentacle management game! Great use of the theme! |
| Aug 27 17:54:00 | 11m 00s | Monster Break Out | Solid entry. Especially like that failure isn't a hard reset! Might not be so realistic that they left that naked guard there but at least they replaced the lock! |
| Aug 27 17:58:00 | 4m 00s | I MUST REACH THE VILLAGE | Can destroy village, cannot stop running. |
| Aug 27 18:06:00 | 8m 00s | Monster Detective | Great concept! But surely if I am the monster, then I did it? |
| Aug 27 21:59:00 | 3h 53m | Path of a Psychopath | "Thank you. Now go away."

Killer game over line! |
| Aug 27 22:07:00 | 8m 00s | TAG! You're it! | Awesome execution of a fun core mechanic! I love how such a simple control scheme is so much fun to play with. And the crazy children's faces, such passion, wow.

A bit of audio would really push it over the edge. |
| Aug 27 22:24:00 | 17m 00s | WAYWARD | Great twist at the end: the camera jumping to the dead parent beast instead of you, as it had many times earlier before I'd worked out the hold-to-charge bow mechanic. Love the melancholy. |
| Aug 27 22:39:00 | 15m 00s | INHUMANOIDS | I love the screaming!

Music very appropriate too.

Couple of crashes but the fun makes up for it. |
| Aug 27 22:45:00 | 6m 00s | CHACON - THE ABDUCTOR OF PRINCESSES! | Love the music, hate the arrow shooting guys, they get me every time! I would consider putting some more distance between them and the wall so the player has more space to move around and dodge the arrows, at least for the first few so you get a feeling for it first |
| Aug 27 22:50:00 | 5m 00s | INSIDIAE | Really creepy atmosphere! But I'm a fast reader, and I have to say that not being able to skip through the dialogues faster was a bit frustrating. People read at different paces! |
| Aug 27 23:02:00 | 12m 00s | IN 8 MINUTES GOD WILL TURN THIS PLACE TO GLASS | Very abstract. Intro text was very dark and goes a long way to getting you interested. But i'm afraid to say after 8 minutes the payoff was a little lacking... |
| Aug 27 23:05:00 | 3m 00s | Henchman | Super nice graphics and atmosphere, love the little archaeologists and their speech bubbles - reminds me of the minions! The main character and its animations was also really well made, as well as the audio in general.

I really couldn't figure out the camera controls and I think the experience could be greatly improved with a camera which follows the character automatically.

I had trouble figuring out how to get past the archaeologists without being seen and dying and therefore I couldn't have a lot of fun playing it.

Also, the game would crash every time I died and it tried reloading the menu.

Overall - all the aesthetics are great but would love to see more work on functionality and playability next time. Well done! |
| Aug 27 23:15:00 | 10m 00s | Monster Frogger | Found it so satisfying destroying stuff I would sometimes hang back in the beginning and jump on everything - nice work on cam shake, particle and SFX, makes it really satisfying!

One thing that I think would really improve the experience would be to have the logs and cars and everything spawn already out on the rivers/roads as I would frequently have to wait for them to appear.

Upgrades like the tongue as well as the randomly generated levels added a lot of replay value.

I also really dig the music!

Great work! |
| Aug 27 23:36:00 | 21m 00s | Hans Gaertner | Wow. Incredibly brave choice for a setting. Really captures the moment. |
| Aug 28 12:02:00 | 12h 26m | Totem | my island sinks
i am alone
i walk through the ocean
i find a new island of stone like me
there are others there and they are cruel
i dont hurt them i just want to find a home
there is no home for me here
i walk back into the ocean

i return
why should they have this
i wipe the stone clean of them
my island rises
i have a home
i am the monster after all |
| Aug 28 12:25:00 | 23m 00s | A Bad Wolf King is Hard to Feed | Beautiful and confusing, enchanting all around!

I'm not sure I understood fully what I was supposed to do, but that didn't really matter. I was just enjoying life in this beautiful place you created. :) |
| Aug 28 12:40:00 | 15m 00s | Hero Mate | Very nice gameplay focused interpretation of the theme based of classical Mario tropes and perfectly executed as well.. but don't me I'm just the squishy purple monster. *sigh* |
| Aug 28 16:00:00 | 3h 20m | Grave | This needs to be extended into a bad to the bone arcade graveyard defending hero slaying brawler to rival the addictive properties of LUFTRAUSERS! Lots of potential for a really cool full game here! DO IT! |
| Aug 28 16:26:00 | 26m 00s | Road To Hell | That's a cool endless driver with great visual representation. I found the motor sound a bit monotone especially since the speed did change that would be a great opportunity to show off how powerful your car is.
I also expected more standard lane bound controls but the more freeform driving also made it interesting.
Could easily be polished up into something you could release for mobile. DO IT! |
| Aug 28 16:35:00 | 9m 00s | Mangiato | That was a lot of fun to play, loved the little dynamic narration and responsiveness. Best feature being the instant respawn because holy shit this was hard! :)
Still a lot of fun though, looking forward to a full version. |
| Aug 28 16:53:00 | 18m 00s | I AM THE SUN | That was very disturbing. I liked it a lot. |
| Aug 28 17:09:00 | 16m 00s | Separated | The fireflies were my only friends. :( |
| Aug 28 17:33:00 | 24m 00s | Monster Cube - MIQ | That was fun! You should keep on working on this! DO IT! |
| Aug 28 17:45:00 | 12m 00s | A Heart between Parts | That was beautiful! Just like old times! <3 |
| Aug 28 21:16:00 | 3h 31m | Nimble | Hey David here from before,
really cool game, love that the gameplay is so simple & responsive. The art also does a really good job at supporting the theme and fantasy too.
I could totally see this being successful as a mobile game with swiping controls. :)
Cheers,
David |
| Aug 28 21:56:00 | 40m 00s | Me | That was amazing! Love the art and simple storytelling! |
| Aug 28 22:01:00 | 5m 00s | Sucker Punch | That was fun! |
| Aug 28 22:10:00 | 9m 00s | Mobs, Inc. | Dojo of Death with RPG mechanics and quirky humor! Stellar! |
| Aug 28 22:24:00 | 14m 00s | Monstre de Coiffure | That was so funny and good! |
| Aug 28 22:32:00 | 8m 00s | Motherflipin' T-Rex! | That was fun! |
| Aug 28 22:40:00 | 8m 00s | Takodemon | That was very interesting! Could be a fun local multiplayer game in there somewhere as well! :) |
| Aug 28 22:46:00 | 6m 00s | How cookies ruined my life. | Funny and good gameplay too! |
| Aug 28 22:58:00 | 12m 00s | Camp Starvation | Day 14 - Everybody has died scavenging for food a long time ago. I have lots of supplies and I think I can just eat that one bug over and over. May be I have been alone for too long and am just imagining things. May be I should just eat the bullet next. |
| Aug 28 23:02:00 | 4m 00s | Moonlight | I woke up naked in the woods today.
There was blood and guts everywhere.
Again. |
| Aug 28 23:18:00 | 16m 00s | Stomp This City | Destroying things is always fun! The particles from the fire and the smoke were so large they would frequently make it hard to tell what was going on. Also felt the game could benefit from having some kind of special move, especially as the enemy tanks arrived. Well done! |
| Aug 29 06:08:00 | 6h 50m | V8000 AD | That was furious! Love the vibe, gameplay and style! |
| Aug 29 06:13:00 | 5m 00s | Petit Monstre | You made me a kid again! That was magical! :) |
| Aug 29 06:45:00 | 32m 00s | Delicious Cortex | Fun, spooky and cute! Couldn't make it past the purgatory.
Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuduuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum! [¬º-°]¬ |
| Aug 29 06:57:00 | 12m 00s | Soup | That was very innovative and mesmerizing! |
| Aug 29 07:05:00 | 8m 00s | Collateral | The human military killed more than me!
WHO'S THE MONSTER NOW!?!? (_)(_)(_)(_)(◉ื) |
| Aug 29 07:12:00 | 7m 00s | BIG BAD WOLF | Love the rendering style! |
| Aug 29 07:18:00 | 6m 00s | The Old One | That was very interesting! Loved the style too! |
| Aug 29 07:22:00 | 4m 00s | Sewer Monster City | Looks great but it took me some time to figure out the controls. The game is also very unforgiving. |
| Aug 29 07:35:00 | 13m 00s | KaijuKrush | That was fun! Couldn't make it past the last level! |
| Aug 29 10:17:00 | 2h 42m | A Shadow In The Night | Wow that was a lot of levels to go through!
Really fun gameplay mechanics and great theme! |
| Aug 29 15:52:00 | 5h 35m | Intergalactic Love Machine | DEATH BY SNU-SNU! |
| Aug 29 16:25:00 | 33m 00s | Primer | Love the mechanic! Please finish it! |
| Aug 29 16:36:00 | 11m 00s | The Troll's Toll | A fine troll tale this all was
some sounds seemed to be missing
but overall the thing most crass
was the sad play's troubling ending. |
| Aug 29 17:06:00 | 30m 00s | You are the cosmos | Nice game! I think the fundamental problem for me was that the base mechanic of getting energy was to just wait for it to regenerate. Would suggest thinking about ways you could make this an interesting activity for the player.

All the power ups you could buy were very fun to use and felt like each of them had their own unique way of messing with the humans.

Great job! |
| Aug 29 17:28:00 | 22m 00s | SQUISH PUNY FLESHBAGS | Great game!

The input scheme you used was pretty genius and fit perfectly with playing as an eight armed creature!

Art and audio was also really well done but didn't really get why all the enemies were so completely different from each other (the fast guys in space suits as well as the tough vikings which took two hits to kill), like why are some of them from the future and some of them from the past?

My only gripe gameplay wise was that it was pretty effective to just mash the keys, I would suggest thinking about ways to make each hit matter more so I wouldn't be able to get away with just spamming all the keys.

Overall great entry! |
| Aug 29 17:39:00 | 11m 00s | Horrifying Human Hunter | Solid game!

Controls and basic mechanics of moving around, pouncing the enemies and stealth felt great!

Music would've added a lot, otherwise mood was pretty nice as well! Really felt like a monster sneaking through the night and eating the innocent bypassers.

I really missed having some kind of dodge move to avoid the projectiles of the enemies. Also, I found in order to not get damaged it would be best to split up the larger groups and then take out the enemies one by one but the size of the playing field was a bit too small for this to work out as they would always be able to flee. Maybe this was intentional but I felt it would've been more fun if the game let me do it!

Overall I think the biggest thing that holds the game back is that there isn't much feeling of me being able to play skilfully or master the game more as i play, I would just sneak up on enemies from behind and spam space. I think it's almost there though, would just think about adding some more abilities or ways the player can influence the result (e.g. dodge move if you happen to be spotted and want to avoid a projectile, or a way to take out multiple enemies in one hit if you sneak up on them in just the right way or something like that).

Well done! |
| Aug 29 17:49:00 | 10m 00s | Delivery! | Haha, didn't see that ending coming!

Good job for 9 hours!

Controls felt satisfying and cool, but the car was sooo easy to tumble over, the tuning of it felt more appropriate for a crashderby style game than something where you carefully have to drive over platforms. Thank god for the 'reset' feature that would put me back on the ground again, otherwise it would've felt unplayable.

Well done! |
| Aug 29 18:01:00 | 12m 00s | Architect Of Terror | Great job with the crowd behavior, crazy how much personality and life you managed to put into each agent even though they're just blocks!

Watching the crowd behavior unfold was 'entertaining' and it was impressive how you chose to tackle the theme.

Some things with basic readability I struggled with though, e.g. blue blocks turn red when I stand close which i interpreted as me turning them to my side. But why would they turn blue when I collided with them after this? Why would some blocks turn yellow when I run into them, but not others? And what was the purpose of standing on the podium and have the crowd gather around and listen to me (or did it not have any significance mechanically)?

Overall I got how the theme and mechanics related to each other and watching the red blocks push the yellow ones into the prison felt like a powerful moment. The unclarity of the mechanics i mentioned above made the whole experience a bit more confusing than necessary though.

Good job! |
| Aug 29 18:12:00 | 11m 00s | Stallman Quest | The music was great! Laughed out loud when I finished the first level and heard the Skype song in the next one!

The subway intro was nice and lent a cool Groundhog day type of feeling every time I restarted.

Dying from using a windows computer was funny but felt pretty unfair at the same time!

Being able to talk to the scientists/workers or whatever they were to make them follow and stay worked well enough as a mechanic but took me a while to figure out that's what they did as they used the same exclamation mark as the guards that would actually kill me when they saw me instead of following.

Solid entry, nice presentation but overall the mechanics were a bit too simplistic to keep me engaged for a longer period of time.

Well done! |
| Aug 29 20:45:00 | 2h 33m | Don't be hunted | Love the level build-up animation and pretty cool water shader. Nice and uncommon art style. Great submission! Thank you! :) |
| Aug 29 21:07:00 | 22m 00s | The Howl | Amazingly atmospheric.. I love this intimate feeling of loneliness.. lost in the blizzard, wind howls around me.. is it only wind?.. shall I follow the white rabbit or not? .. suddenly I spotted tracks in the snow.. too large for the rabbit... larger even than human footsteps...
human vs nature.

I love that minimalistic art style also. Great idea with using limited color palette. The only thing which feels a little bit off are those circular snow flakes :) (everything else is sharp, reminding me of paper cut-outs)

Thank you for this submission! :) |
| Aug 29 21:32:00 | 25m 00s | Totally Fine, allright? | "I don't wanna do a quickstep" :))) Space truck driver?
It was cool idea with random thoughts/ subtitles (sometimes pretty dark) leaving player to put together random bits of main character's story/past. |
| Aug 29 21:51:00 | 19m 00s | Cataphilla | That was very interesting. Somewhat of a synaesthetic experience in a way like Rez or Vib Ribbon. I'm not sure I got the entire point of the game rules but I got the experience that was somewhat like playing a trippy softdrink commercial. :)
Could totally see that being played at a party on big projectors or made into a bigger game. Nicely done! |
| Aug 29 22:02:00 | 11m 00s | Run Ogre, Run! | Very polished game. Good graphics. Love the ogre animation! Audio is great also.
Although it's easy to miss - nice detail - those little achievements (i.e. "Pie Master!" or "Drunken Sailor" ;))

Overall Score: 983 (distance 443, score 540) |
| Aug 29 22:37:00 | 35m 00s | Kill It With Fire | Interesting approach to the theme! - monster misunderstood. Pretty polished game.
Really nice graphics - love your art style! (reminds me of "Don't Starve" - which is a good thing) :) |
| Aug 29 22:48:00 | 11m 00s | And Stay out! | Nice little game. Well polished. Cool soundtrack.
Same as above - totally see it working with touch controls (better)..
Thanks for submitting it! :) |
| Aug 29 23:31:00 | 43m 00s | Stealth Yeti | Soooo cute! "Roar"! :)
Great LD entry.. Outstanding animations and creature design. Really fun to run/ jump through the walls (destruction of which is also cool and pretty rewarding :))
Not very forgiving but fun to play.
Thank you for your entry! :) |
| Aug 29 23:53:00 | 22m 00s | The Supper | Very cool game with its simple but effective mechanics.
Great post process effects and general feel of watching a silent film. Nice idea with dynamic camera zooming in..
Nice LD entry overall! Thanks :) |
| Aug 30 00:15:00 | 22m 00s | Chamberland | (You can use <space> to skip/ close dialogue windows)

UE4 also, huh? ;) I wish there were more projects like this done in Unreal...

Your game looks beautiful - with those conscious perspective distortions and handcrafted feel. Audio is veeery atmospheric and complements art a lot.
I think you have a great foundation to create something stunning. :) |
| Aug 30 00:55:00 | 40m 00s | Robo Monster Hunt | Really fun experience! Always glad to see other Unreal developers ;) Nice visuals (especially those cool trees and the hut!).

Don't know about keyboard - can only recommend playing it with a controller - works great.

btw. also got crash around 5th level (first rain level).. but after restarting the game - all was fine (rain shader/ particle emitter/ ppfx?) |
| Aug 30 01:21:00 | 26m 00s | Otherworldly Stars | What a interesting take on the theme! Pretty atmospheric - I could only imagine how great it would be with audio.
Beautiful graphics - Michael Bay approves ;) (*sparkle* *blaze* *shimmers) |
| Aug 30 01:43:00 | 22m 00s | Monstrocity | Really gargantuan LD entry! ;) Thanks!
Graphic is great in its minimalism but the game shines in audio category - really cool idea with monster's voice depending on its size. Also love that music is such a contrast...

happy destroying (mankind) everyone! :) |
| Aug 30 09:30:00 | 7h 47m | B(L)OB | Really impressive entry for the amount of time you had to do it in! Once I got a handle on what to do it was really fun going around and munching up as many things as possible. Some more feedback about what increased mass and density would make it easier to understand and probably even more rewarding as well!
Anyway great work for something put together in 12 hours.
That's just cray, mkay? :) |
| Aug 30 10:59:00 | 1h 29m | The Sacrifice | PRAISE CHERNOBOG! Please don't sacrifice me on his altar.. |
| Aug 30 12:43:00 | 1h 44m | The Skullcatcher | That was really cute! But you made me kill a bunch of kittens! YOU ARE THE MONSTER! >;) |
| Aug 30 13:09:00 | 26m 00s | Micromancer | Wow that was really fun! Rise my minions! RIZE!
MuuuhahahaahahahaMUUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAAAAHHAAAA! |
| Aug 30 14:43:00 | 1h 34m | Lady Bug | This is funnnnnn! Unforgiving but once it works (i.e. you get more skilled) - it's super rewarding.. actually even dying feels rewarding - with this awesome splatters! :)
Love the graphics with it's minimalistic approach (cool color palette choice), music complements it nicely..
You are onto something and I would love to see it as a full release.
Great submission! Thanks! :) |
| Aug 30 14:55:00 | 12m 00s | I'm a Monster Rawr! | OMG it's sooo KAWAII ^_^

The SFX when you start the game is great! Melted my heart.

Gameplay was simple but functional and surprisingly engaging. I found myself trying to save several people at once, expecting them to "conga line" behind me but was sad to see this wasn't possible. Would suggest thinking about how to add a second layer to the gameplay where the player could do something more risky that would reap bigger rewards, e.g. the aforementioned conga line which could allow you to save multiple characters at once, but the drawback could be slower movement speed or that they might have a higher chance to accidentally get shot by the police or something similar like this. Point is, I think the gameplay needs something more to spice things up!

Great job! |
| Aug 30 15:04:00 | 9m 00s | Pirate Snail | I like the graphics and audio and the idea of being a pirate snail is pretty hilarious!

As the combat mechanics were so underdeveloped, I would consider just cutting them and focusing the game around what works - the traversal. Just moving around and seeing the slime trail was pretty fun, so I would focus on making that awesome. One example, just standing still and rotating on the spot felt very awkward, as you wouldn't actually rotate on the spot, it felt like the character mesh was offset from the invisible entity that was actually being controlled. If that issue would've been fixed instead of spending time on combat, I think you could've done a pretty solid platformer style game out of this.

Again, nice job on the graphics and audio! |
| Aug 30 15:13:00 | 9m 00s | Cursed Hunter | Nice graphics (really love this washed out/ desaturated color palette). Animations are cool, game mechanics is interesting.
Can only imagine how some audio would make the entire experience deeper..
Thanks for your entry! :) |
| Aug 30 15:19:00 | 6m 00s | Storm the Castle | Not holding back, so here goes :)

First off - way too many things happening way too fast. Your first order of business should be to work with the pacing and slowly introduce the player to the mechanics of the game, one by one and ideally explain how things work through a in game tutorial.

Second thing is readability in general is pretty bad. You have lots of units and options but it's really hard as a player to realize the difference between these units and why to use one over the other. Yes there is text there to explain but its hard to read it and especially when you have so much of it, you don't have time to figure out what all the UI elements are before you're dead.

Those are the two biggest issues.

My suggestion: scope down. A lot. try just having 1 or 2 units available, and 1 enemy type. Make them work really well. Create a proper UI where you can see, ideally with symbols or something that makes it obvious with a quick glance how much health, damage, cost etc. the unit has, the status of the game overall, where enemies are coming to attack etc. Work on introducing the player to how the game works slowly, give the player time to experiment and familiarize himself with the mechanics.

When you have a really strong, readable, playable and fun foundation, THEN you can think about adding more content. Now you have so much stuff in there, but the foundation isn't there - so it's all for nothing.

E.g. I had no idea about the whole monster points and summoning mechanics or even that I needed to get my units over to the other side. Yes you had a manual written down below the game but this isn't the 90s - noone reads that. |
| Aug 30 15:58:00 | 39m 00s | That Cow Game | Very nice atmosphere, shame you didn't have time for sounds! The role reversal was simple but effective, and very well executed.

As there isn't much game here it doesn't really hold up on its own, but I could totally see it being a powerful "Soylent green is people!" kind of moment in the context of a larger game.

Was trying to find out if I could interact with the world somehow, like using buttons to operate some of the machinery or so, too bad I couldn't - think it would've added a lot!

Good job! |
| Aug 30 16:09:00 | 11m 00s | DRUMSTER | Haha! Love your approach to the theme :)
Outstanding audio and amazing pixel art! (especially animations and special effects were spot on).

I would suggest moving the "progress bar" somewhere else (i.e. bottom right corner). It's red circular thing (bottom of the thermometer-bar) close to red circular thing ('D' notes). I found myself confused at times (especially in the last level)...

Great entry! :) |
| Aug 30 17:12:00 | 1h 03m | Mr. Yeti's Fast Food | That was lots of fun! But damm those trees! I'M HUNGRY! :D |
| Aug 30 17:36:00 | 24m 00s | Monster | I like the reduced graphical style. Not sure whether the choices in the beginning had any effect but since I chose kill 1 to save a million I was expecting me to be the 1.
So I expected to be sacrificed for the greater good.
Not a huge fan of the flat out calling me monster besides the portal quote aspect but otherwise the speech synthesizing was most interesting when it seemed to fit the portrayed character like my suit computer.
Also most of the time I didn't realize how fast I was moving until I got to the chairs when I was like HOLY FUCK I'M FAST! Which is probably due to the lack of reference space with the reduced style. May be just upping the amount of quads per meter would fix that.
I also enjoyed the floaty jump because it gave me something to do while walking around. I imagined I was on Mars because of the colors somehow so I thought may be bunny hopping would make sense. Not sure whether it did but I enjoyed it anyway. If there would be one sound I could add it would probably be somekind of breathing inside my helmet.
Anyway very interesting entry, I think this could really go somewhere really cool with a bit more time. Cheers! |
| Aug 31 04:24:00 | 10h 48m | Minion, I have to take a leak. | That was fun! Couldn't make it past the first level though. |
| Aug 31 15:03:00 | 10h 39m | KAIJU TYCOON | I love that you can pet your cat! That is so awesome! Makes me feel like a Bond villain. I chose to believe that her name is monster. Now who's a good monster? Yes you are! That's you! (^˃ᆺ˂^) |
| Aug 31 16:59:00 | 1h 56m | Snake Strike | Looks really awesome! You should consider taking it further! |
| Sep 1 20:46:00 | 27h 47m | Scream Hunter | I liked the concept of scaring people in their houses while they are asleep but still having to hide.
It seems to me that you could have done without the campaign map really, at least I didn't far enough to the point where it would have been meaningful. Probably would have been better to just focus all your development time on the scare in the house part which is where all the fun is anyway. Couldn't figure out how to get past the last door in the second house but had fun trying! :) |
| Sep 1 21:02:00 | 16m 00s | Slasher | This is a fun concept but I found the additional rule that you also have to scare them in the right order a bit too restrictive. Also is there a way to manipulate where they will go? I think this has potential to be extended into something that could be really fun if players had may be that one more tool at their hands besides hiding and attacking.
Also in all tries it was always http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BlackDudeDiesFirst huh? |
| Sep 2 08:40:00 | 11h 38m | Shadow | Munching up ships has never been so soothing. |
| Sep 2 08:43:00 | 3m 00s | Open the door and smile | Wow. |
| Sep 2 13:03:00 | 4h 20m | Unsolicited | GLORY TO TIGHT SCREWS COLLECTION AGENCY. |
| Sep 2 13:17:00 | 14m 00s | AM I? | A bit heavy-handed with the theme, perhaps, especially the "don't drink and drive" at the end. Also, the title implies that there's a way to decide not to be a monster, but I couldn't find one.

Could do with some feedback for taking damage and crashing. Wasn't sure what the difference between killing people and harassing girls was, to be honest. |
| Sep 2 13:21:00 | 4m 00s | Tales of the Memory Dragon | Once you get the hang of it, pretty fun - but 3 lives is a bit overkill, with no way to regenerate them that I could find. Could do with some feedback like maybe the dragons actually eating the birds. Also not very colour blind friendly :( |
| Sep 2 13:28:00 | 7m 00s | Lovers on a Park Bench | Great concept. Not sure exactly what my weapons are supposed to be though... |
| Sep 2 13:40:00 | 12m 00s | Oranges In Love With My Fly | Really awesome in the mood stakes. Love the surrealism. And the audio is very effective. The gameplay is pretty crazy, and I didn't get how it ties in with the story. Could also do with some explanation of why you're getting these fruit and things to the end, and why you need 4 of them. And also some feedback for when you actually succeed in getting one to the end. |
| Sep 2 13:45:00 | 5m 00s | The Cauldron of Humanity | Wasn't really sure what the different types of minions did compared to each other. Some small in game tutorial hints would've been useful. Otherwise, need some nice satisfying death animations. Could be fun! |
| Sep 3 07:05:00 | 17h 20m | Reflux | That was really fun - also making people puke is always a winner! :) From the gameplay side the fact that the immune system cell could turn back my converted green ones made it too hard for me to get passed the third level because stuff just got perpetually reverted.
I tried to kite them in a corner and then take over the level but that didn't work out. May be I missed something.
May be it would be better to find a setup that's more entropic/escalating somehow so level sessions have a more or less fixed play length and players don't feel as much like their progress is lost.
Besides that I think with some updated graphics and sounds (besides the puking which is perfect) this could be a really fun complete game. If it would be a tad slower it could work on touch devices too!
The minimap is a really nice touch but if you would need to save the screen space you could also put in directional indicators instead pointing to where the other cells are.
You should continue working on this! I like making people feel sick! ;) |
| Sep 3 07:22:00 | 17m 00s | Professor Chaos's "Mean Sardine Machine" | That was hilarious! The music and writing worked really nicely. Felt like a good trippy cartoon show or a sequence from Day of the Tentacle!
Would also wish for more visual representation like pixel art adventure graphics and may be some feedback on how much AWKWARD ENERGY I'm collecting. Just for laughs. Sorry I'm just imagining this as a jam entry full of images of disbelief, fish, awkwardness and bad haircuts. ;) |
| Sep 3 08:08:00 | 46m 00s | GUILLOTINE | Is definately some promise, and looks great, but the difficulty curve is a bit steep. As people have mentioned, it's not obvious that in the chicken screen the platform with the hint is actually a platform. Then the screen with the platforms that teleport really requires some timing skill which I guess I just don't have. It also doesn't really seem to serve any purpose other than to be an obstacle. |
| Sep 3 09:51:00 | 1h 43m | Dude, Stop | Funny concept, though it took me a while to work out what to click on and drag. I first discovered that pressing X makes the level be "complete", which was a bit weird without understanding the actual mechanic. |
| Sep 3 10:35:00 | 44m 00s | Power Lich | Pretty fun game, balancing your army and such. A bit annoying when they got stuck on trees but I guess they are only mindless undead! |
| Sep 3 11:12:00 | 37m 00s | No Credit, No Problem! | Nicely made game, certainly pushed the same paperwork buttons as Papers, Please. Not sure Hugh G. Rection was really necessary, but there you go. A bit heavy handed with the moralizing too: I didn't really identify with the character's whining about the job. |
| Sep 3 11:15:00 | 3m 00s | Excremonsters! | Great atmosphere, but the game finishes so fast! Not really sure why I win... |
| Sep 3 21:47:00 | 10h 32m | Monster can-can | Space well and truly smashed. |
| Sep 5 11:12:00 | 37h 25m | A battle for the graveyard | Pretty fun game, nice aesthetic. And hooray for procedural levels! |
| Sep 5 11:15:00 | 3m 00s | Pinky's Nightmare | At first I thought you really need an indicator showing the direction the player's facing, but after playing it was actually pretty intuitive. Couldn't find any keys and often just got stomped as soon as I got into a room and had to start over. Nice use of the theme though. |
| Sep 5 11:32:00 | 17m 00s | Who's the Monster! | Pretty challenging, especially for the colour blind like me :( Also didn't really get some of the puzzles: refuses to stand next to green, but when i shuffled everyone wound up standing next to green at some point. Oh wait i get it the guy in green was the only one not standing next to green so it must've been him. Duh! |
| Sep 7 08:00:00 | 44h 28m | Player Rush | Beautiful game! Being able to move diagonally would be nice though...and didn't really feel like the raid boss with only one attack. |
| Sep 9 15:13:00 | 55h 13m | Meet the Monsta | Fantastic style! Couldn't get the drumming mechanic to work though. Was playing in web. |
| Sep 12 20:38:00 | 77h 25m | Brood | That was really fun! A bit hard to play with the touch pad so I'll have to try again later with a proper mouse. My poor babies! °o_o° |
