LD55 — Summoning

Replicate-You by loveapplegames 2024-04-20T18:02:11Z

Quite interesting concept! Makes me think of dystopian future where computers will replace us at playing videogames, while humans still have to work :D

Although the idea is innovative and interesting, I don't think it lends itself very well to being an actual game. Maybe adding some goals for the "summoned" replica would help? Like: "make sure you train a replica that finishes each level in under 30 seconds" or "create a replica that has less than 3 collisions in total" or something like that.

But as a proof of concept this is very well done! If you're planning to expand on this idea, I'd be interested in what you will achieve.

I thought the game was too hard, but I got to the 30 kills. And then I accidentally pressed wasd and found out you can move :D

I had a couple of "wait what killed me" moments, so the color palette might need a bit of tuning. All in all the game is pretty fun!

Ouija Boy: What's My Name? by VaustXIII 2024-04-17T21:01:34Z

Thank you everyone for the feedback! We're glad you've liked it :)

@aameliebernardd @thekatmol yeah that's the thing about word games they definitely need translation/localization, unfortunately we didn't have enough time for it. Maybe post-jam version...

Ouija Boy: What's My Name? by VaustXIII 2024-04-17T21:02:04Z

@ditam I was thinking about the "give up" option, but I think one of the fun parts is getting stuck for a bit and then having a moment of inspiration and making a breakthrough. I'm gonna think about it again and weigh all the pros and cons of adding it in the post-jam version. Thank you very much for bringing this up!

Necrohold by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2024-04-17T21:40:58Z

That's a really nice game for a jam! One problem I had (beside a bug with the cursor jumping to the center of the screen) is enemies being too dark and hard to see. I think it would have been cool to give them torches. That way seeing the wave of enemies being literally snuffed out would have added to the mood and coolness factor. Overall this is a very fun game!

10/10 would go on hiatus again

For Democracy by Paulsams 2024-04-18T23:34:00Z

Somebody has been playing a lot of Helldivers :D

Jokes aside - awesome game!. The core gameplay is fun and engaging, the music rocks, the visuals are good. It felt a bit grindy towards the end and not very satisfying to get a "bad" ending. But all in all: a great game!

Capture the King by ZEN 2024-04-21T00:07:30Z

Let me introduce you to an undefeatable strategy: THE PAWN WALL (and a couple of knights to avoid stalemate) :D

Very cool concept, I bet with a little more time you could turn it into a great puzzle game!

Rock Paper Summon Frog Plutonium by edgeboyo 2024-04-16T23:03:37Z

I'd say it was a journey, but actually it was more of a trip :D

SomeMorningStars by Bassilij 2024-04-20T22:29:02Z

Would be cool for song to progress beyond the 4 beat patter after summoning everyone. But even now, game is pretty fun!

Alea by ne_mene 2024-04-20T22:45:58Z

Pretty nice little game, I played a few rounds and won no problem. Although I think didn't understand the rules completely because sometimes I could just destroy an opponent's dice with a click? Anyway it was fun, so good job!

Summoner Training Simulator by Brainbetter 2024-04-16T22:21:46Z

That was pretty fun! Guessing the rules kinda reminded me of "Understand". The color scheme could be improved a bit in my opinion and sounds bugged out for me sometimes. But other than that, it is a really nice game with a cool concept!

Pony Summon Quest by brainles etertainment 2024-04-20T22:37:00Z

The spins are a bit slow imho, but at least I've got a pony :D

BLOOD DRIVE!! by Saffwong 2024-04-20T22:58:36Z

I shat my pants because of that intro voice, brother :D

This game could be so much more fun if not for controls. I'd get mouse buttons randomly stuck sometimes, and then other times I got navigate to a new tab that completely ruined the flow. But even with those nuisances this game kicks ass! \m/

Don't get seen. by RRADU 2024-04-17T22:25:30Z

Omg that ending spooked me :D

The music didn't feel like it matched the mood at first, but later it grew on me. The game is good, but feels a bit lacking because pure stealth gameplay can get a bit boring with all the waiting. I think a timer for speedrunning could be a great addition, allowing for an extra challenge of beating yours/others best times. Overall it was quite fun, great job!

Bony Barricade by Philocode 2024-04-21T20:40:59Z

Ooh I love those "Age of war" type of games. I think your take on it is pretty good! Was a bit too easy imho with towers doing so much damage. I just created basic skeletons to "tank" enemies while towers decimated them. Then just rush giants. Still, it was pretty fun!

Ghostdusters by Tuna Diver 2024-04-18T22:51:57Z

Very nice game! Visuals are pleasant and the soundtrack is fitting. One thing that stood out to me is the difficulty. At first you have all the rooms to take care of and it's a bit overwhelming. But then as the rooms get destroyed it gets easier and easier. When I have only 2 rooms left I can run between them indefinitely increasing my score to infinity until I'm bored. Couple of ideas how to fix that: one - add a time limit; two - reverse the room count, first start with a couple rooms, but as you get more score - more rooms open up and you have a limit of let's say 3 rooms that can be destroyed before a game over. Other than that a very good game, good job!

How To Rob A Bank (as a Wizard) by petitcoke 2024-04-20T20:12:26Z

First of all, congratulations on completing a game and actually publishing it in the jam, not everyone manages that, so good job :)

As for the game, I think that audio is the biggest thing you could have done in terms of effort to result ratio. Adding some free song as a background music would already help the game make a much better impression. Also for your next jam try having smaller scope, to make sure you will manage to get all critical parts of the game done before the deadline. Good luck in your future jams!

P.S. Shadow wizard money gang, we love robbing banks
