LD45 — Start with nothing

ASHES TO ASHES by AkirAssasin 2019-10-07T04:14:48Z

This game is fantastic. Like others I had to go to the instructions to really get what is going on, but after that I got into it. Music sets an eerie mood, and that newish retro feel lands perfectly.

Fan The Flames by diaonic 2019-10-07T02:12:46Z

The mood is great, it was the first thing that caught my attention, the music helped with that quite a bit. The snow filling in mechanic I though was also a nice touch. Building a full crafting system with a game on top of it in two days is awesome, heres to you for being ambitious with that.

I had a hard time figuring out what my goal was. I know I was supposed to keep the fire going, but I didn't really feel any consequence from not doing it. The crafting system feeds into that, but if I don't know why I'm doing it, then the rest of the game doesn't hang right.

Ichi-Robo by pilly 2019-10-11T05:34:23Z

AHHH! This game is great! The little touches plus the solid puzzle mechanic really sold me.

Didn't love the gameplay, but that art style is kick ass. Love that cutout theater theme.

Island of the Coconut Spirit by candlesan 2019-10-11T05:21:30Z

At first I was only going to give this game a few minutes. It hooked me and I played until the end. Really loved the simple gameplay loop here.

Robokek by Alex_LemminG 2019-10-14T19:44:47Z

Theres a few things I liked here. The arm upgrade was interesting, and the progression system seemed to work fine. I had a hard time controlling it however.

Pot Luck by Marchmain 2019-10-07T05:16:17Z

Really liked this. What came together for me were the assets. The music, fonts, and faces fit together really well. And underneath that the little food puzzle mechanic worked well too.

The Hunt For KNOWLEDGE by Sode 2019-10-07T05:02:37Z

I don't really know what i'm supposed to be doing here. If the goal of the game is to be obtuse and let the player figure things out, you at least need to give them a little hint about what the goal is.

Movement isn't very intuitive. The jump button shoots you into the air, and the movement keys rocket you from one end to the other.

The intro screen goes on for WAY too long, ended up clicking around until the game started.

From Nothing by arkinrev 2019-10-11T04:19:37Z

Interesting idea to use right click to move with pathfinding. It ends up being frustrating though, since you don't feel like you really have control over what you are doing. You see something down a ledge and your character takes a full detour to get there.

A little too dark. I couldn't really see what I was doing.

Something by Martynas 2019-10-08T05:08:16Z

Beautiful game, piano fits perfect.

The problem I had was the dot size, especially if you get knocked down after the screen zooms out. Chasing after the smaller dots becomes less of a reward and more of a chore.

This is one of those games that is great at getting you to explore without really telling you to do it though, it felt organic which was nice.

The Start to a New Beginning by Bobothegreat 2019-10-07T02:17:46Z

I laughed my ass off. There isn't much else to it, but it did make me smile.

Hunt and Gather by Gaz_Ireland 2019-10-06T21:48:03Z

Wasn't totally clear what I needed to do, but I get that it's unfinished. A few things might make the difference if you decide to take it further though. Indicators on what you've selected and what you can collect, and a clear objective would be a good starting places.

Ludum Dare Simulator by Marcin J 2019-10-07T02:00:58Z

This was great. The highlight for me was the color scheme, which i though worked really well. First game or not, this was really well done for 48 hours.

LD45 - Square World by ZwodahS 2019-10-07T05:33:04Z

I love sim games. You can tell a lot of work went into the little details here. Bring on the fungus.

Idle Office Inc. by 0xkalle 2019-10-08T22:47:47Z

I have no idea how you got this done in 48 hours. Brilliant.

Egg Farm Escape by Deacon 2019-10-08T04:56:24Z

I love hearing about and playing games of students and new programmers. Credit to you for releasing something playable and fun.

The difficulty ramps up too quickly though. By the time you reach the second level it feels nearly impossible to get past the cops. Give the player a slow ramp up in difficulty to keep them engaged. You can also cheese your way through some of the levels. The first level lets you run through the spikes without any real consequence,

The pixel art is cute, and nice job making your own music. I hope you keep making games. I want to see what you do next.

SpaceDrifter 4500 by SharkWithLasers 2019-10-08T06:29:25Z

Nice little game. I was about to give up because of sharp difficulty at the beginning but got into it after a minute or two.

The phyrics need a bit of work since you can stop on a dime, takes a bit of the tension out of facing an asteroid.

I really liked it overall though.

Nought - Procedurally Generated Dungeon by sacredbacon 2019-10-07T02:44:18Z

This is a lot of game for only two days. Adding procedural generation to a game is one thing but to implement it with zero flaws so quickly is awesome.

It does feel like the enemies overpower you too easily, there were certain points where I just had to give up because I was just cornered without a decent weapon.

It does feel familiar, binding of Issac comes to mind.

Dead Pixels by tmullet 2019-10-07T04:25:37Z

Thats fair @ruby-interactive-games. The most common feedback I get is about that mechanic. Wish I would have made it more intuitive.
