LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Spring Clean – DO NOT CROSS by blinry 2017-12-09T09:17:03Z

I really enjoyed this :) The audio's great, the art is cute, and the idea was really interesting! The only niggle I had was sometimes I wasn't sure which bits of tape would get picked up when I'd made a bit of a mess of putting it down, so I just put another layer of tape around it to be safe.

Stacks O' Cats by Lumous 2017-12-05T19:53:04Z

I love this game :) I got up to about 16 cats before my wrist started aching (I'd have played for longer if there was full controller input!). I also really like that there's a web version. Good job guys :)

What is this? A Cake for Ants?! by glitchroy 2017-12-09T09:58:06Z

I thought this was really difficult, until I read the instructions properly and realised that the speed up key only affected the enemies and not my appliances! After that, and once I got to about level 10, it was a bit too easy - pretty much all of the enemies were dead by the bottom of the first loop. I got to level 26 without losing any health at all. But balancing aside (who has time for that in a game jam!), it was really enjoyable! The idea of fending off bugs with kitchen appliances is particularly good! And I'm really impressed at how small the download was.

Bob White Shirt by Netherlab 2017-12-05T18:55:25Z

I liked it! Took me a while to get the hang of it, but I eventually managed to cross the road more than once! Highscore.jpg

Awfultown by Matthew Di Mare Miller 2017-12-05T20:16:22Z

I'm impressed you made a tutorial! Those are sometimes the most awkward things to create! I kept accidentally deleting buildings when trying to send people to sort them out though - I didn't even realise that was what I was doing until the end of the second playthrough, I just thought they were burning down or whatever. I really enjoyed the little cheer when you saved a building though!

LD52 — Harvest

Harrr-vest by jaj 2023-01-10T14:36:02Z

I got the secret ending! Eventually...

I enjoyed that. It was funny and emotional, and an interesting take on the theme! Nice choice of music too.

Persephone by Stormharrier 2023-01-10T13:42:11Z

@noobman64 - Thanks for letting me know. The template project I started from must have it enabled by default.

Squirrelativity by cassowary 2023-01-10T13:36:28Z

That was brilliant! The art is really cute, the puzzles were a nice mix of difficulty, and I love the "success" sound when you complete a level. A perfect combo of relaxing and head-scratching.

Harvester by Noobman64 2023-01-10T16:21:46Z

I really enjoyed that! For a game where you just move a few sliders around it was really engaging! Kind of reminded me of Portal, with its "keep following instructions, you're doing great, don't check behind the curtain" vibe. Made me think they're lying about what you're doing - I bet the scanner is just a flamethrower with a screen that flashes up "enemy detected" every time you press the button.

Chic hen's harvest by TanguyLcr 2023-01-10T15:50:27Z

The art style is great - I really like the 2D/3D mix (especially the wooden texturing of the hen house). The main character's attack anims are nice too - good use of stretching.

I played to day 10, by which point things were starting to feel a bit samey since it didn't seem to ramp up much in difficulty, but I enjoyed it before that point. The controls did feel heavy, as others have mentioned, but I figured that was part of the experience!

URSA MAIOR by ekaktusz 2023-01-10T16:34:28Z

Great game! The bear was super cute at the start, and I love the graphics in general. I need to look into PICO-8 if this is the sort of thing you can produce with it.

Harvest Heroes: a text-based anime-style battling game by algo_baker 2023-01-10T12:12:44Z

That was a really interesting use of whatever ML tech it's built on (I assume ChatGPT). It switched tense on me halfway through on my first game, and broke halfway through on my second (I do like the "writers have gone on a coffee break" error message though!), but aside from that it did well with my suggestions and the health changes matched the description of the fights. The ending felt a bit flat though - it just said "Luna won" after five rounds, so a bit more text (e.g. "Raggedy conceded, Luna was announced the winner, everyone celebrated into the night" etc) would've been more satisfying.

Sacred Harvest by Wake1st 2023-01-10T16:57:36Z

Nice game! It was short but that made it easy to explore the different choices to see what the results were (my first playthrough turned out the best, though I haven't tried every combination so I'm not sure if there's one where everyone ends up happy). The sound effects and font give it a nice atmosphere.

LD54 — Limited Space

Dungeon Junk by Stormharrier 2023-10-03T20:42:34Z

Sounds like I need to look into how to find/add audio before the next jam! It's not something I've ever done before so I didn't have time to investigate it over the weekend.

@extar The wheel is supposed to be a general store trader - not great prices but will buy anything. I couldn't think of an appropriate icon so went for something easy to draw.

@jukepoks1 Thanks! Yes, they're hand drawn and scanned in. I had a bunch more ideas that I didn't get chance to implement, such as buying more backpack space or doing quests for traders so they have more gold the next day, which would've given some more interesting decisions. But yeah, limited by time constraints.

Dungeon Junk by Stormharrier 2023-10-04T08:56:34Z

@ampo Haha, you fell for the greed trap, like a true adventurer!

@sheepolution The challenge is supposed to come from balancing what you're picking up with the funds available at each trader. If you've already got 30 gold's worth of weapons and the blacksmith only has 30 gold, you're better off leaving that new high value sword and grabbing a lower value book. But I balanced it in a hurry so I might not've made the numbers interesting enough.

@larrymartinjr @ciaranw @chailotl @pierre-marie Thanks for playing! I'm glad you like the art, I was worried it was a bit overly simple. I definitely need to look into audio for next time.

Dwarf Looter by Matthieu Riboulot 2023-10-03T21:36:23Z

Beautiful art, and lovely atmospheric music. I had so much fun exploring the cave that I kept forgetting to go back to the shop. And I drank every magic beer I could get my hands on cuz it seemed like the dwarf thing to do.

Please Sign Here by Ampo 2023-10-04T09:16:43Z

Brilliant game! It surprised me when the signing space suddenly shrunk. I didn't manage to finish (what I assume was) the last level though - I swear I wasn't releasing the mouse button or hitting the wall but it still kept failing me, usually over the top of the M but sometimes on the R or E. But could just be my mouse playing up if no one else had the same issue.

The Limited - club by jukepoks1 2023-10-03T21:03:51Z

I love it! Had me laughing out loud, though I failed so badly at the dancing (just like in real life).

Give Me BBQ by Surune 2023-10-03T09:07:08Z

I like this game - great art and audio, a cool idea, and well implemented. I agree with JRevel that I found the time more of a constraint than the space, but I quite enjoy that pressure too so I had fun playing it.
