LD46 — Keep it alive

That Time I Crossed A Barren Desert To Protect&Care The World From Terrible Code by alaah 2020-04-20T15:46:34Z

Got it running on a Mac with Wine + the VC runtime (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads).

The tutorials are hilarious but I couldn't figure out what it actually meant to restart. I tried clicking the player, but that didn't seem to work?

The audio is great.

Oh, and your adherence to the Theme is probably the best I've seen.

Morituri Combonaturi by TheOZoneBE 2020-04-20T14:39:54Z

I'm not really sure what the point was. It's got the seeds of something fun, but didn't feel quite finished.

The sound effects were a lot of fun though! The music and sounds didn't seem to play at the same time?

Tetris Life by jpv 2020-04-20T15:10:39Z

@baturinsky Try the experimental mode! They're ... somewhat unbalanced, so I didn't include them by default.

Life On Mars by Yorsh 2020-04-20T14:54:10Z

Easy to understand (once you read the instructions) and the web version works fine.

Could use a little more depth, but hey, it's 48 hours.

The sounds and animations are very well done.

Double AA by fakeyou 2020-04-20T15:00:29Z

The visuals were great.

The controls got a little weird when you could rotate into walls (is that intentional?).

The difficulty ramps up *really* quickly.

Post-Apocalyptic Funk-Based Kicking Simulator by Gnarkill 2020-04-20T14:41:26Z

Since you're using Unity, consider web/mac/linux builds. Wine didn't work.

Also package it up as a single Zip so that people know what to download.

BABYSITTING by Tayfun 2020-04-20T15:09:52Z

Oh god, a 3D third-person camera platformer. Those are impossible. I got the hang of it after a bit, but the controls are a bit slidy, which make it even harder. It's just not a genre that I think works well.

The music and sound effects are well done though.

Keep the beat alive by Dukes 2020-04-20T16:23:28Z

That's fun. I love the music. I should look more into Pico.

Rolly and the Flower by Rolly 2020-04-20T14:37:36Z

That's adorable. I like the music. The guns are tough.

KingdomKeeper by BGameDev 2020-04-20T15:13:05Z

Weird little game. The graphics and the audio were a lot of fun, but even reading the description it took me a bit to get started. Could use a tutorial mode to guide you the first few days.

Lockdown TV by R.Meier 2020-04-20T16:41:37Z

The tutorial mode was nice. Weird little game.

Anti-Toxin by Deacon 2020-04-20T16:02:28Z

Top down tower defense + shooter, vaguely similar in gameplay to [Orcs Must Die](https://store.steampowered.com/app/102600/Orcs_Must_Die/).

It's not a bad game, but it's a little light (hey 48 hours). The towers seem very overpowered and I wish I could see them shooting.

The music was a nice touch.

Keep Town Alive by peto184 2020-04-20T15:02:00Z

You're using unity; please consider including mac/windows/linux builds.

I'm surprised it took me this long to find a disease flavored game, given all anyone is talking about is coronavirus.

Batteries Included by Michael Prentice 2020-04-20T16:30:19Z

I swear I've seen this exact game before, although with more yellows and less blues in the color scheme. Can't find a reference now though.

Great game, solid gameplay, fun music. I'm going to have to save this one to play more later.

ERROR 404 by Nate Wert 2020-04-20T14:28:52Z

Doesn't actually include a mac or linux version, just windows.

Nemysis by Crispy Chicken 2020-04-20T14:47:00Z

Ran on a Mac via Wine. Worked fine.

I love the music and the graphics/audio really works for this game. A bit slow as others have said. But fun.

FEED by BlipBloop 2020-04-20T16:48:29Z

Katamari Damacy as a platformer! Fun. The controls need some work, but I played it longer than most games I've been reviewing.

Supernova by Clément K 2020-04-20T15:35:00Z

Neat concept and the music is wonderful.

The controls are really sluggish and I wish you could have done something more with gavity/orbiting.

Reminds me of [Osmos](https://www.osmos-game.com/)

Keep it a-fly-ve by cros107 2020-04-20T16:05:07Z

> Hi this game sucks

And I appreciate the name pun.

Starts under wine on a mac, but doesn't do anything but a blue screen. Also it grabs my mouse and won't let go, which is annoying.

Haiku, and the Mother Virus by Mister Morris Games 2020-04-20T16:34:01Z

It's basically a more polished [Super Crate Box](http://supercratebox.com/), which is impressive for 48 hours...

Platform around on a small level with ever spawning guns and baddies.

The music is intense and I think it's responding to which gun I have? That's cool.

I love it.

Keep. The. Spike. Alive. by K4V0X 2020-04-20T15:16:16Z

You're using unity, please include mac/linux/html versions.

Human Apocalypse by Fathy Basha 2020-04-20T16:36:41Z

I appreciate you including the Mac build, but it's not working for me:

Vital Signs by Houdou 2020-04-20T15:04:59Z

I do love how it scales up over time. Man it's hard to keep everything going. The graphics and sounds are a nice touch.

The 24th Century Surgeon by DeSpiciestBoi 2020-04-20T14:51:01Z

You're using unity, so please include mac/linux/web builds. Tried wine, but it crashed on launch.

Bluebird by cjm 2020-04-20T14:57:45Z

Tried to run it, got `libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found`. Probably the SDL 2 issue. A few more instructions or better packaging would be appreciated (and is allowed post compo IIUC).

Bluebird by cjm 2020-04-20T15:38:53Z

`libc6` didn't work.

It's been a bit since I've messed around compiling something on Linux directly, so I followed the instructions on your bitbucket + dependency chasing.

I'm on Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.

Built and installed https://bitbucket.org/jlm/lib2d/src/master/, had to install `mesa-common-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libsdl2-dev` to get that to build.

For the game:

``` $ git clone https://jlm@bitbucket.org/calebmrshl/ld46.git ```
And then I realized my CMake was out of date and accidentally started an OS upgrade. I'll try again when that's done and see if I can get it to run.
