LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Friendship Deathmatch by Patomkin 2022-10-06T02:27:57Z

The animals are really cute and funny! The implementation feels really smooth as well. But I thought the overall gameplay experience left something to be desired--what you're supposed to be doing (or even, at the beginning, who you're controlling) isn't very clearly communicated, and it was surprisingly feasible to just move away from the group and let them kill each other. But I'd like to give it another spin to see about getting the hang of the different characters' abilities a little more, and I think it may grow on me the second time around.

Are We There Yet? by CameronPenner 2022-10-05T17:23:38Z

Well, you definitely captured that car trip feeling for sure! The mechanics felt so smooth and well-designed, and I loved all the quirky things that can go wrong in the car. That said, you may have captured the feeling of being annoyed TOO successfully, because I muted the sound really fast.

Harvest Golem by NotExplosive 2022-10-20T17:57:29Z

Hey, this is fun! I really quickly found myself strategizing what order to plant in (watermelon, then carrot!). I found the rules intuitive and smoothly implemented. The only issue I ran into is that it's possible to dead-end when planting the pumpkin.

Sprawl: A cyberpunk interactive graphic novel by m11 2022-10-06T02:45:06Z

I'm generally a non-fan of AI art, but you've made a powerful use case for a situation where it works really well--its squidginess and not-quite-rightness support the overall theme. You're using the colors very stylishly, and the world is intriguing and unnerving. I would keep reading for sure.

That said, this is really a graphic novel rather than a game. (But honestly, that's perfectly fine. More power to you.)

Ten Second First Dates by Rose 2022-10-05T01:44:51Z

Quirky and fun! Super slick implementation and the vector graphics are really polished. It's also a good length to not overstay its welcome. Good job!

Ten Second First Dates by Rose 2022-10-05T02:41:23Z

Already commented over on Itch, but overall really great work!

Silvi by nardandas 2022-10-07T21:00:02Z

This is SO sophisticated. I'm really impressed that you were able to build such an effective procedural generation algorithm in one weekend. Plus the graphics are nice and all the graphical touches like the level transition animation and the animated cat, and it even has a nice little story thrown in! (For my setup, FYI, I'm on Windows 11 and it worked on Chrome but not on Firefox.)

What's the rules? by Pusheeneiro 2022-10-05T17:05:40Z

These puzzles remind me of old-school high-difficulty flash stuff like The Impossible Quiz from the era when ultra-high difficulty was the norm. It has good implementation and a nice consistent look. I didn't get past maybe level 4, and I imagine most other people won't either, but that's the whole point, really.

Hocus Poquest by Miyolophone 2022-10-05T19:54:17Z

Hey, this was really fun! I'm not usually a fan of bullet hell but I caught on fast and had a lot of fun upgrading and optimizing my different guns. The combat felt super smooth and the controls were very easy to use, and the tutorialization bit at the beginning was well-designed. My issue was just the balance of the quests--it felt like there were too many and they came too fast, so it felt easy to just ignore them and hope you'd just randomly complete the objectives while you were playing. But that's just jam stuff--no one has time to iterate and optimize on things like that in one weekend. Great game overall!

Fleeting Seasons by Bytomancer 2022-10-21T02:07:58Z

This was a cool idea and really impressive amount of implementation for just one weekend! But it went WAY too fast, so slightly rocky things about the interface could really easily snowball into disaster--for instance, I moved my camera away from the town hall and several seasons passed in the time it took me to figure out how to recenter. When I ran out of a resource, I wasn't sure what symbols corresponded to what resources in the interface, and time kept passing while I hunted around trying to figure out what it was.

Lucky Lefty Lost In A Labyrinth by TheBookSnail 2022-10-06T03:10:06Z

A fun and well-implemented, interesting take on a classic puzzle type. It was relaxing and not stressfully fast, which I really appreciate, and I was having fun working out the answers. I would have preferred it without the timer, but hey, we're all shackled to the theme.

Alchemist vs Werewolves by St1ckY 2022-10-06T02:15:17Z

I really liked the art! I found it hard to make potions at the same time I was running from werewolves--it felt like there were a huge number of werewolves right away, and so I didn't feel like I had time to fiddle around and guess what ingredients I should try. I think brewing potions on the fly is a really good concept, though; maybe just some tweaking the balance could get it to a place where I felt like I could really appreciate the fun of it.

J-Menuing by nyxkn 2022-10-07T20:31:17Z

This really kept me on my toes! There was a lot to remember but I really felt good when I got it all right. Plus very clean implementation and clear interface. That said, some of the sources of difficulty felt rather artificial, like shuffling the order of menu items and having a blank item on the menu.

Home R.I.P.airs by JoyKangpae 2022-10-05T19:57:44Z

I like the concept here, but I found it hard to play--the controls and especially the jump didn't feel super smooth and I found that made it hard to move around. I like the gameplay loop, though.

Kangaroo Court by Celtican 2022-10-05T04:08:24Z

Hilarious, I was laughing the whole way through! I was worried that 10 seconds wasn't going to be enough time to parse what was actually being said, but it actually feels just about right. The art is super quirky, and the cases are really funny. Others have already commented about the gavel mechanics but you know what, it's a weekend, not everything is going to be polished.

Decrypt by Gabriel Chan 2022-10-05T04:22:30Z

Really nicely implemented word game. I love games like this, reminds me of TextTwist back in the day (the olds will remember). The mechanics were very well-thought-out. I got sunk by the overlapping words bug, though.

Clique Hell High by Sean Esopenko 2022-10-05T17:15:50Z

It's a really good concept; I like the art and animation. Having to flip back and forth was tricky but interesting. I think it could have used a little more juice just to communicate feedback to the player--as others said, some kind of big signal when you change, and I'd also like a much stronger indicator, like a flash and sound, to show whether being hit healed you or hurt you.

code_F.R.0.G by Ginahe 2022-10-21T15:58:59Z

Mazes are fun! I thought the maze part was really well done; the graphics and the fog-of-war felt very slick. But I didn't like the number typing part; it just felt like an annoying pop-up.

Tower Stack by ChrisWiseman 2022-10-21T05:25:26Z

First of all, HALLELUJAH YOU HAVE AN INSTALLER! Thank you! I found this game more like a sandbox than a strategic game--I never really planned beyond "drop stuff really fast"--but still, it was fun and zen. The graphics are clean and they work well for the type of game, and the physics were smooth and felt nice. If you wanted to package this as a full-sized game, you'd definitely want to work on making it have a real strategy, but for a little jam project I think it's quite good the way it is.
