LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Bunner Gunner by piscythe 2022-10-04T01:35:37Z

The animations were so smooth, and the artstyle was honestly adorable! The AI of an enemy got stuck on the rocks sometimes, but overall the game was quite enjoyable.

I really enjoyed how you could save other bunnies which would essentially increase your general firepower, and the bullet-time mechanic felt really smooth!

Cute, simple but fun game! I did notice a couple of small bugs, like spamming the top row will basically get you free points (maybe could make it 3 or more is a connection instead of 2?) since getting 2 together is pretty common. Like the other commenter mentioned, unfreezing has to be manually pressed on every time.

Bombs that cause freezing instead of fire is really creative! The animations were quite smooth too and I didn't really encounter any jankiness. Good job :)

Whoa. This is incredible.

At the beginning, I was a little bit confused as to what each card did (ig im a little blind cause i didn't notice the cards on the bottom left lol). But once I got the gist of it, it was quite intuitive!

The SFX choice really made the mood, along with the water lighting effects, animations, cloud shadows, all of those REALLY contributed to the mood. Definitely felt the most peaceful and atmospheric game I've played so far! Really cool spin on the 10 seconds theme, adding the element of choice and civilization building to it. I do think that the upgraded structure recipes should maybe be accessible in like an in-game "info" tab or something, if you plan to make a post-jam version. Also, the wood mechanic/lumber mill, along with the water channel moving rate was hard to grasp until like ~10 minutes or so for me.

Really smooth, SUPER high quality, and having to choose quickly between what you need or don't need at the moment makes the gameplay quite fun. Played for like half an hour. Honestly just LOVE the civ-style take on the theme :)

minor note: I don't know if it was intended, but you can wait every 10 seconds to get a new batch of cards without decreasing "cards left", and food production doesn't stop either.

10 second base by Stratcat66 2022-10-04T18:45:44Z

Oooo! Tower defense! :D

I had a lot of fun playing this game, I would TOTALLY love to see a full-fledged version of these later, as once you get to a certain point you can't die any more. I did feel as though having to manually press each button made it get tedious once you had 20+ buildings (same with movement), so maybe if there was implementation that let you automate things for a higher cost or holding down a key lets you move in that direction, that would be super helpful! UI was quite intuitive too.

So like at this point it kind of stagnates, but that's likely just due to the time constraints. Would love to play more though!

Props to music too! The wide reverb, heavy kick drums, and having that big moment when brass enters really makes it feel like an epic tower defense game. The sprites had their charm, but I can totally imagine this on the app store if you touched it up more and added more difficulty later on :)

The little details like the animation particles and the smooth menu added a lot to the game too!

Great job :dog:

Destroy Blocks by mdotedot 2022-10-04T02:08:26Z

Looked really easy from the preview, but it was actually surprisingly difficult! Very easy to understand, and the SFX for completing a row definitely felt satisfying. I did feel as though the music was a little bit repetitive, up until it suddenly changed to a different track! The second track was quite nice— maybe the two tracks could be linked together with some type of transition?

Very innovative, and honestly quite fun too. Since it doesn't overcomplicate stuff, it kinda grabs your attention.

Starshock! by Coda Highland 2022-10-04T02:14:45Z

Graphics were simple and sweet, felt quite like an old retro game! Liked the laser SFX too, and the spin of using asteroids as protection from the bombardment. Having the bullets be affected by gravity really messes up with your game senses, but it's an interesting twist!

I did end up getting spawn-camped a lot of the times though haha

Call It A Day by Stenyin 2022-10-04T00:33:00Z

SFX were really nice! The small things like the crows cawing really added to the tone, along with the music and DEFINITELY the art! The switch between day and night cycle was done well with the concept of a ghost too!

The sprites were captivating.

What's the rules? by Pusheeneiro 2022-10-04T04:59:03Z

Pretty addicting, very reminiscent of the classic "impossible game" haha

I got up to the stonks question! I liked the clean black and white graphics, it really created a theme. For the moon one though, sometimes it doesn't register it as a success even when if it's off the screen. The questions were pretty perfectly 'intuitive' imo! I never really felt like any of the questions were impossible. I liked the music being rather low-key, but since you have to constantly replay the game using trial-and-error it eventually gets a little bit repetitive, though the music itself fits nicely with the game

Overall, I found it pretty fun :)

second interval by ty_ 2022-10-04T01:49:28Z

Wow, this is kind of incredible! As a music guy, I especially loved your take on literal "10 seconds", where there's a focus on major second intervals between the notes, and how it's shown in the SFX and music too! Animations fit perfectly with the overall mood and environment too, and the artstyle was adorable.

One thing I wanna say is that I do think that the collecting SFX can sometimes clash a bit with the BGM, and how jumping/hitting other boxes sometimes accidentally cuts out the previous audio. But I'd love to see an expanded concept of it in the future though! Could see the passion poured into the game :)

Fred the Egg the Gardener by zazz0000 2022-10-04T01:56:58Z

I thought the concept was hilarious when I first saw it on the game jam list lol

I really liked the animations and the 3-D objects used— I don't typically see 3-D art-styles used a lot in game jams, so that's really unique! I will say that at the beginning the instructions are a little bit unclear though, so I ended up kind of wandering around for a good bit of time.

Overall, unique concept, would want to see a full version of it later with maybe added music too!

Clockmachine Chaos by SirMilkman 2022-10-05T07:30:47Z

Quite fun, very well balanced! SFX and animations slid right in together :)

The House at 2:21 AM by jabenero 2022-10-03T23:46:28Z

I really liked the art-style and music! I'd definitely want to see the game fleshed out a little bit more, but at least for the first stage, things meshed well!

Exp10sion by lynnezzzy 2022-10-04T05:23:34Z

Our group was considering something about controlling a past & present version of yourself, and this is exactly it. I think the concept was implemented incredibly well- I didn't get any bugs when I finished the game, and I particularly enjoyed the puzzles where you had to think about what buttons you should press even if you might not currently need it.

Graphics were great and established a clear theme with the urban-esque music, animation was great, the animation when you get crushed (or maybe that was just the bomb's running animation) was great. I do think that some of the earlier levels are a little slow (e.g. the ones where you have to wait to die) though, and the music could maybe switch up a every now and then.

Overall, very well-polished game, completable (not overall hard), and thematic. It's clear that a lot of time and effort was put into making it, great job :)

Jekyll and Hide by Gangrue 2022-10-04T02:57:08Z

Of every game I've played so far, this is a definite number one. And it's a compo too. Wow.

Floor -12 can be cheesed by hugging the bottom, which is kinda cool. The mechanic was REALLY innovative, and kept me entertained through all 14 levels. Level design was great, with some free levels to introduce you to a new mechanic without physically telling you. Music fit really well, the SFX felt fresh and fit right in, and the graphics and animations were simple but extremely polished. Just really polished overall- doesn't overcomplicate things, does a few things but does them extremely well. Even the title sounds catchy too— I could totally see this in the app store as a full-fledged game, and it wouldn't look out-of-place at all :)

Stormlight Manor by RogueBrain 2022-10-04T05:40:24Z

I AFKed on the title screen for a bit and the glitch effect was REALLY cool. The little sprinkles of details really show the care you guys took in making it, like the lightning crackling + animation when you clicked on signs. SFX was great, and the music worked well with the art for the spooky atmosphere (same with the VFX). I did notice that it feels like the hitboxes don't always feel intuitive (e.g. the ghost seems like it'd be one block width but it's two), but that might just be me haha

I like the continuation of the musical motif between stages and in the pause screen too. I did feel as though difficulty suddenly spikes in the levels with the purple aggressive ghosts, and with the rather slow movement speed if you die close to the end of a level it can take up to a minute just to get back to where you were, as some paths are reliant on waiting for the ghost pathing to open up. The crackle mechanic where lightning is used for vision is honestly one of the most creative takes I've seen on the theme so far, props! This goes for the AI too, pathing was quite smooth.

Overall, very fun, well-polished and with a really creative take on the theme! :)

Esgobert's Escapade by Martoow 2022-10-04T01:58:26Z

Looks interesting, but I've been getting an error when I try playing it: "Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag." The graphics drew me here though :)

Sun's out Buns out by phufhi 2022-10-04T05:08:24Z

Cute graphics! The art style fit nicely together, and I liked the animations for the player fox and the rabbits :)

I was only able to water the plant 5? times before getting overwhelmed- it's nice that you have to choose between getting rocks or the water bucket at times. I did notice that you can somewhat cheese the game by simply grabbing the water and hugging the plant though!

Cat Wave RUN by CooLguNxDD 2022-10-04T02:25:36Z

Fun! I liked the take of using DDR inputs to defeat enemies while trying to escape the wave that gradually rises towards you!

I feel as though some of the text/sprite is a little bit unclear, like how your fighting HP bar works in the top left corner. Some of the blocks that are not passable are also a little unclear imo. But once I figured it out though, the combat system became really fun as you had to make sure you got all the inputs in time, but also making sure not to mess up. Music (breakbeat was great) fit the gameplay well, along with the SFX too.

Fun game with cool concept :)
