LD54 — Limited Space

Tracked by Ava Skoog 2023-10-04T17:25:44Z

Great visuals and mood! I understand lack of gameplay and puzzles given the time constraints, one man team and the looks of the result. The game can really turn out interesting if finished post-jam. Native builds would be a great addition too.

One bug: Space to lock/unlock cursor didn't work for me in Safari.

Overall: Great entry, nice job!

The Legend of L0nk: Tears of Encumbrance by tomrijnbeek 2023-10-04T19:52:23Z

Hey guys! What a cool little game you made in such a short time!

A little bit of honest review: - I loved the visual style and art of the game, great job! - Font was a bit hard to read, can use +1 pixel in both directions for the symbols - Music is nice and very fitting, a bit of SFX would be a great addition - Gameplay is simple and straight in a good way - What was really missing for me is an option to rearrange stuff before picking-up something new - The dialogs and texts, man! Beautiful meta humour, loved every line!

Overall: 10 out of 5, great entry! :)

Work Until You're Undead by Diego Escalante 2023-10-05T09:55:23Z

Sadly, fails to load in Safari and completely freezes Chrome on macOS. No low scores for that from me though, it's a game jam after all! :)

P.S. Seems to be a common issue w/ Godot 4.0 web builds.

Work Until You're Undead by Diego Escalante 2023-10-05T11:27:18Z

@draekdude may be related to me still being on Ventura 13.5.2, or it's some M1 Pro specific stuff

Edit: Tried it again, no luck

Phone Booth Boxing by exofrenon 2023-10-04T20:09:10Z

Great idea and I love the fact that there is 2-players mode! A bit of bugs: the sounds are too loud in the web version and World Cup opponents always idled. It's a game jam though, so no big deal. Good entry!

KosmoPod by Hakro 2023-10-04T16:49:45Z

Tried to play, but there is no macOS version and web version errors in Safari and freezes up Chrome :(

The ECRU Experience by Dock Frankenstein 2023-10-05T09:58:59Z

Please ping me if you make a macOS or a web build, the game seems interesting to try :)

Just Another Sokoban by Harksa 2023-10-04T21:19:51Z

The lights-out level got me good, haha! Great game, especially taking into account this one being first project on the new engine. There is a lot of variety and even some interesting mechanics. Man, there's even config for sound! The only little suggestion I have is that the buttons in the menu would probably be more intuitive if you could've press them by clicking the text itself too.

Great entry!

@petr-vejchoda oh damn, I guess at least one development tool should have been accidentally left behind, oops 😅

**Thank you everyone for a very positive feedback, we are very pleased with such warm response!**

Any brave souls to beat our team's high score? :) image.png

Spinstack by massivejack 2023-10-04T18:46:27Z

@hakro there is a web version available at the top of the page with a big orange play button :) Please let me know if you still won't be able to play it, I'll try to make a linux build

Spinstack by massivejack 2023-10-04T19:08:28Z

@hakro thanks for giving it a second chance and for positive feedback! Also, nice score! :)

P.S. Adding Linux build. Since I can't test it, I'll appreciate if you can give it a *spin* and confirm that it works.

Spinstack by massivejack 2023-10-04T19:24:15Z

@hakro thank you for taking time to test it! Very kind of you :)

Spinstack by massivejack 2023-10-05T15:43:48Z

@nilan thanks for a positive feedback and for taking your time to try it! :)

It is possible to do anything in the code, so yeah, definitely. But as you mentioned it may be the part of the fun, so some testing will be needed, and it's a jam game, so it'll stay as it is, except for any major bug fixes, that may appear. Anyhow, nice suggestion, thank you! :)

Redneck Renovation by Kylazaur 2023-10-04T17:02:47Z

The game seems interesting. Sadly, there is no macOS and/or web version available :(

Skybacon inc. by Dekajoo 2023-10-04T14:36:02Z

Interesting and sometimes even challenging puzzle with good and very fitting music!

A little bit of honest review if you're interested in expanding the game: - Art is really nice, although can use some polish to fit better together - Music is is good, shame that SFX so loud that you can't hear music when everything is running - The game is more about limited budget (limited machines), than a limited space. Levels where you have plenty resources but actually little space would be great to have! - Full game, obviously, would benefit from more levels, more machines, different initial setups (more outputs, like two pigs-out pipes, for example, and/or more inputs)

Despite this little critique, I have enjoyed the game all the way from start to finish! Nice entry and great job! :)

Carrotiles by ValentinWB 2023-10-04T20:51:44Z

Good little puzzle and created in a such short time window! Last level took me some time to figure out. Great job, man! :)

Space Ltd. by Telkan 2023-10-04T20:11:24Z

Would love to try, please ping me if you make a macOS or a web build :)

@fendri Tried the web version and sadly it failed to load in Safari and completely freezes Chrome on load. But thanks for taking your time to try :)

LiGHTHOLDER by wolkp 2023-10-03T19:47:24Z

Game design, aesthetics and sound is really neat! The idea is cool and can be a foundation for a bigger all-platforms game. I enjoyed it all the way through and it also managed to feel tense. Great entry!

Pack It Up by GameDevJeroen 2023-10-05T11:24:21Z

So I tried it and here is my honest review: - The idea itself is interesting - The art is great! - There is no sound on Credits button ;) - Great SFX for the wagon take off and it's soo cool that nothing's left behind after such take off! :D - There's the Tetris luggage, lmao - Interesting to play, but levels 5 and 10 was so hard that they got be bored and I never finished them - Full game have all the rights to be born and would benefit from some polish and variability

I enjoyed the game overall, great entry! :)

Before The Trip by Nilan 2023-10-05T12:11:15Z

The game is nice! I really enjoyed this relaxing puzzle with a vacation vides – simple, but somehow satisfying :)

Here's a bit of honest review: - Music and SFX are great! - Items sorting layers could use some work so the most recent moved item would always display on top of the other (some king of dynamic sorting) - Art is amazing! Can be improved further for the full game, but very pretty as is for the game jam entry - Items names on hover would've been a nice addition, I wasn't able to determine what some items are ':D - More levels, more items, more rules variety, more everything for the full game! (I would like to play the full one for sure) - I was kind of missing additional bags not overlaying the main bag items

Overall: 10 out of 5, great entry!

Before The Trip by Nilan 2023-10-05T12:22:22Z

Oh, one more thing! Same Unity specific thing that we overlooked in our game too – the sounds are crazy loud. If someone has their headphones on 100% volume it is at least will be an unpleasant (if not harmful in any way) surprise. I would suggest to at least leave a warning in the description, or even better to patch it, since the rules allow small important fixes :)

Before The Trip by Nilan 2023-10-05T15:39:13Z

@nilan personally I do not think that adding tooltips is something that rules allow. Sound fix on the other hand should be allowed. Also, I would suggest to consider lowering default volume too, as lowering volume on device is not a problem, the issue is that on the start of the game unprepared user may have their device volume set to 100%. Best of luck :)

FELL OUT by daveranan 2023-10-03T11:55:24Z

Sooo... I have finished the game and here's my honest review and feedback.

Narative

- Falling from the plane story would have been much funnier, if not spoiled in the entry description - What should be upper case letters are upper case in one lines, and lower case in the others – makes it a bit difficult to read - Nice meta-humour with references to LOST, WD-40, Starfield with Frontier (?), Animerica - Loved the charisma check part! Great reference to BG3(?)! - Overall subtle and pleasant humour! - Last cutscene is amazing!

Gameplay

- Boat feels like boat in animations and physics department, cool! - Lack of camera rotation controls is really noticeable. Could have been even isometric without rotation, especially given that it becomes isometric (or very close to isometric) during dialogs - There are different character models, wow! - Some dialog options disappear when talked, some stay, IDK if it’s intentional. Options with what to do next are okey to stay, narrative options questionable - Full game would benefit from UI directions for discovered islands or a map - Struggled too much to figure out where to use the fishing rod and/or find Barry. Even started second play through thinking there is a bug that doesn’t allow me to fish on the tree island

Controls

- Move in the mouse direction would have been a nice option - Boaty controls a bit painful, A/D for direction instead of rotation would help a lot. Boat still can rotate according to it’s slow to response physics - Fog as a world border would have been better

Graphics, art and visuals

- Great visual style! - Hide object (or make it semi-transparent) if it’s between camera and player would have been nice - Some sprites give 3D vibes and feel in place (ex: grass) at a specific camera angles, some are very 2D (ex: trees, jars on the ground on the lighthouse island). Seems to do with sprites angle being not ideal for the angle of camera, and the fact that camera is perspective and changes Y-rotation while sprites stay static - Interesting solution for the buildings to place multiple sprites there, can use an upgrade for the full game though

Sound

- Great background music choice! - Great subtle sound effects overall! - Lack of boat sound effects was definitely noticeable :(

Bugs

- Coin between the trees (on the Windell island) you can’t get to - Sprites popped in a couple of times when approaching starting island from it’s West - Waves showing up on the tree island's ground - Characters fallback to “have you find [that thing I asked you for] yet?” after their ark completed

---

Overall

10 out of 5, great entry!

RAM Runner: Space Shift by Petr Vejchoda 2023-10-04T19:18:32Z

Seems fun to try, sadly I'm on macOS and there is no macOS or Web builds available. No low scores from me though, so don't worry, it's a game jam after all and there's only so much you can do :)

Terrarium by wetrustinprize 2023-10-04T19:22:18Z

Seems to be a fun game, ugh I wish there was a macOS or Web build available. No low scores from me though, it's a game jam after all :)

Spaceship Shooters by AntariaN 2024-04-18T17:19:38Z

@nicso @cievers thanks for the feedback! We did what we could in 72 hours, but we also planning to improve the game and add more challenge, goals, mechanics, and generally broaden the scope and gameplay after the voting period ends :)

Wiz Biz: A Summon's Sacrifice by MontyMoneybags 2024-04-18T15:27:51Z

I am probably missing something, but I wasn't able to figure out how to beat even the first level, sorry

Wiz Biz: A Summon's Sacrifice by MontyMoneybags 2024-04-18T15:39:37Z

Nevermind, I've figured it out, I was just jumping lower because of the friction with wall. Nice game, good job! :)

Merlin Agency : The Enchanted Feather by AbominableScience 2024-04-18T15:12:42Z

Simple but fun and interesting. Also, I see where you might have been looking for the summoning keys mechanic :D

Good job and congrats crossing the finish line!
