I saw the screenshots and had to try it. Sick vibe. I made a point and click with a less cool vibe, but more fleshed out mechanics. We should collab next time haha.
Thank you! It was really fun to make :)
It looks amazing, but I have no idea what to do in it.
Thanks for playing :) We ran out of time to finish the bouncer quest and had to scrap it! (The club might have a back entrance, but you didn't hear that from me)
V I B E S are great! Personally, I would like the text to write out a bit quicker
Nice aesthetic, seems like this could be a pretty chill game. I'd prefer to be able to move the camera around, or at least design the level to be more like a 2D platformer. Otherwise not much to comment on, as it's not very far along, but would be interesting to see where this goes.
Love the vibes! I reached some back entrance but it didn't let us through. Also I accidently turned everyone into a cone... not sure if that was a part of the quest? A bit confusing tbh. But i loved exploring! Lots of hidden nooks.
Wow such beauty, why would I want to go in the club anyway when I can watch the clouds?
Very beautiful visuals. I love the mix of 3D set and 2D characters. Looking forward to see where this goes!
@cody-raethke Thanks for the feedback! We decided to take away camera control to save ourselves from having to get the level looking right from all sides. Perhaps some scripted camera rotation as the player approaches different areas would have helped as a compromise. Did you find the camera angle made it difficult to navigate / plan where you wanted to go?
@darzu To be honest I totally forgot about the back entrance until after submitting. The cones were never meant to be seen haha. It would have been great to flesh out the bouncer interactions more, but there just wasn't time. Thanks for playing!
@mortusnegati Thank you! I agree, clouds > clubs
I love the look, vibe and color scheme that you've got going in this game!
I assume this is an incomplete game, so I can't comment on much other than the obvious parts, like the lack of music/SFX, animations for the characters, a main game mechanic, etc.
If I may nitpick on what already exists, it'd be nice if the text was faster, and also if the walking blonde guys spawned from within the building and walked out rather than materializing out of thin air. The player also gets stuck on the walls, due to how the movement is in relation to the camera, so there's that too.
I also didn't know the bouncer was to the left in the beginning. I ended up exploring the entire map before meeting the bouncer. So, an indication for what to do would have been nice too.
But anyway, well done on the visuals!
Other commenters said everything, but yeah, so pretty :)
Seconding what @zeehatcher said that the text should defs be faster. Also unfortunately the collision of the other people on the street doesn't really make much intuitive sense (and it's also possible to lock yourself in place near the stairs in front of the club). Your aesthetics are really strong and carry the experience, but unfortunately not a whole lot else to comment on.
not gonna lie I was expecting a lot more from the game by looking at the screenshots hahaha Well I love the art style, I don't know if that is intentional or not but I really like the bland look and the characters popping out. Like others mentioned the text writing is too slow haha And that quest popup made me chuckle but also got me confused because I went to look for the snack xD
@zeehatcher Thanks for the detailed critique! We are working on a more fleshed out version with actual game mechanics and some of the fixes requested in the comments here. Your feedback will definitely help us improve it!
@Smoe We'll have to come up with a strategy for the NPC collisions. In order for them to work easily with the navmesh, they needed to inherit a capsule collider and there just isn't a way for a capsule to closely match a plane.
@MaksimJ We were expecting more from it too haha. But as time ran out we had to choose aesthetics or gameplay, and aesthetics won out. Sorry about the quest hint, I thought it was clear that there was no quest, but it may have been some unintentional reverse psychology. What sort of things were you hoping to be able to do in this game?
The plan is to add more features to the game and publish an update around the time that voting ends for LD, so stay tuned!
Sorry could not try it. The game was running at 5 fps. I think my potato laptop is crying rn. So far, it is the most impressive one visually!.
@gamester1128 Thank you for your kind words, sorry it was too heavy to run!
> Did you find the camera angle made it difficult to navigate / plan where you wanted to go?
@lovewerk yeah that was exactly it - not knowing how much level there was behind/to the left and right make me spend a lot of time walking in random directions only to realize there was nothing over there. Which could be a feature if you were to hide some interesting easter eggs, but you could also block off some of the nothingness in those directions to make it clear there's no reason to go there
@cody-raethke Okay, that's good to know. I'll take a look at some ways to better indicate where to go, and how we can make exploration feel better by removing dead-ends and adding game mechanics that reward players for taking a look around.
Well. Artstyle is really fantastic!
I love the look of this game. The area down the alley with the clouds and sunset looks super awesome. I don't even care about getting into the club. I just wanna chill in that city, watch the sunset, and listen to synthwave...
@the3rdhunter Uhhhh there may be some synthwave music in-progress for a later update. Well, maybe it's not exactly synthwave, but hopefully it passes the vibe check!
I haven't played it but the visuals are amazing.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail, I knew I had to play it! The graphics are truly mesmerizing. Even though there wasn't any gameplay in the version I downloaded, I walked away from the game feeling satisfied.
Looks awesome, is there a linux build?
Vibe is on point! But like fashion often... stylish on the outside but lacking on the inside...It was advertised so just kidding... My biggest gripe is the lack of audio... Ohh, the fun you could have with beats and reverb zones in this game :smile_cat:
The art is amazing. It's a shame there isn't much to it gameplay-wise. Maybe some hidden path to sneak into the club via rooftops or something would have been nice.
UE5 is killing my pc, but the visuals are nice, heh. You nailed the style!
Is there anything I can do with the twin of the character in the corner or is it just an Easter egg?)
Definitely the best looking entry I've seen so far! I can't help but wonder if there's a way to find that snack... sure sounds like a quest to me
The visuals are so awesome, especially the sun coming through the clouds. Love it! But what is really missing (beside that it is not really playable) are some electronic beats. Would love to see the combination of the visuals with some fitting music. :loud_sound:
@ping78 @nicename Thank you!
@night-on-mars Oof so true! We definitely went style over substance her, but I am working on actual gameplay and music so hopefully once that's finished you'll give it another shot.
@le-don Thank you! The lack of gameplay is bothering me too haha. I am actively working on it though! There is technically a hidden path to the club in the current build, it just doesn't do anything when you get there (and I forgot to take out the placeholder assets 😬).
@nicekot Thanks! The big red twin is supposed to be the bouncer haha, but we ran out of time to get his sprite in. Right now he just says a couple lines when you approach, but more interesting gameplay is coming eventually.
@dxk2294 Whoa, high praise! So about the snack - I needed a second line of dialogue to make sure the interaction system was working and happened to be hungry at the time... but I will make sure there's a real snack quest eventually!
@Tschonni There is no linux build right now (It hadn't crossed my mind). But I did a little research and apparently it is pretty easy to do. I will focus on getting things playable with audio and whatnot first, but when I publish the post-jam version, I will make sure to include a build for linux (barring insurmountable build errors or something)!
@mar-zockmeister the clouds are my favourite part :) Hopefully once some music and gameplay is in, it will all gel nicely.
this game graohics and mood are amazing!!!like this game art style so much, hope for more content of this game can be made ,lighting and color are so comfortable,I spent some time to walk around the whole city, while dont know what to do,,wish for more tips , you made a so potential project,,nice job
Truly immaculate vibes :city_sunset:
I BE VIBIN! I love the 2D on 3D and can't wait to see how this evolves if you pursue it further.
Looks amazing
