In the beginning a little confusing (I did not even see my ship) + sometimes difficult (was once when there was no food on the map)
But the mood, gameplay, drawing - it's amazing!

The graphics are indeed pretty nice! It might be a little bit *too* randomized, but it's a cool idea! Well done!
Had a great time playing, everything adds up to a very complete picture, good music, beautiful art and fun gameplay. Nicely done!
I really enjoyed the mood created by the music and the ocean ambience. Sometimes the random resource change disables you from selling your cargo anywhere on the map which for my Crew led to starvation. Otherwise nice work, definitely enjoyed it.
This was amazing. I had a lot of fun playing.
Graphics were awesome, too!
Some minor nitpicks
It was very hard in the late game though. Suddenly there was no food anywhere to be found. So I couldn't restock my supplies. There should probably always be food somewhere to buy. Also supply and demand did not match anymore in the end. In my opinion if I can buy something, I should also be able to sell it somewhere.
With some items I'm not sure if they're worth it or how they work: For example the carpenter sounds nice, but I'm not sure how he works (if I need to buy the planks and where to get them) Also cannonballs. Sure, they make my cannon stronger, but take away cargo space that I need for trading.
I once had a black screen after losing and nothing happened.
Will try again later to beat this!
This was a decent jam experience, the graphics fits the idea pretty well and the mechanics are simple and fun, I suffered from the crew eating my ship many times lol but managed to make some progress
Everything was really neat :) Enjoyed the loop for the most part. Found it difficult mind where at one point there was no food anywhere for a while and apparently my sailors are woodworms :D But all in all I had fun!
Cool game.Have a happy time with it.
Happy that I found this one, very different from other entries and what a nice choice of genre, just what I love. I like the simple mechanics, but also like that you guys could expand a lot on it if you desire so later on, jam may have been only a starting point. Found the perfect sound & music to fit together with the overall aesthetics~ and the map & graphics are jolly! Marvelous job at it! :)
Clever resource management and trading game. Look and feel was great while playing. Good job
A really nice management game! I always love sail ship trading as a theme, so that's a solid thumbs up from me. The graphics are aesthetically pleasing and fitting the theme. I love all the elements showing on your path, like message bottles, pirate ships and what I assume is a Kraken to avoid. The message-in-a-bottle as game tips is a quite cool idea too. As others have said before me, perhaps it is a little bit too random, as you can lose through not being able to buy food anywhere. I also think it might be a good idea to have a timer showing for how many more turns will a buy/sell offer remain in the shop, so you can plan whether you'll make it in time to buy in one place and sail to sell in another.
Nicely balanced overall (except when you can't buy bread anywhere). Graphics are great, and it's very pleasant to play. Good job! To push it to the next level, I think what's missing is feedback. Some (subble given the artstyle) particles here and there, things like that.
@yorsh @lcstark @stefan-funke Thanks for the feedback!
You can always get by using only Rum or Meat, there is always some of the food available on the map - be it Hardtacks, Rum or Meat (as a matter of fact Rum and Meat are better because they last for longer)!
@dzugaru Ahh thanks, good to know. Meat makes sense. But I didn't expect the crew getting by on rum only
Very cool little traiding game! I was impressed with how many different goods and upgrades there were! Some of the random encounters almost got me, but I still manage to stabilie in time again. Graphics and overall mood of the game a very pleasent as well!
Graphics are adorable and the mechanic is excellent. I have also encountered the problems that i couldn't find place to buyy the bread. Also, i expect that players could buy a map to unlock more areas to encourage them to explore the world.
Absolutely love the look of the map! And the atmosphere created by the haunting music.
A nice game, the managament of resource and sailing attracts me.
One of the best game I've played during this LD! Simple mechanics, but I need to plan my route 3-4 turnes ahead. Goods often rotate, I have to avoid pirates and kraken. Flow is just wonderful. And music, so chilly. Great job, guys!
Came over to this game from your post about how playtesting without realizing people wouldn't know the rules was tough--so I already knew the rules. This was a gem of a game. The graphics were a delight, and I went all the way to 3000 gold before finally deciding to stop playing and retire.
It was a little too easy sometimes to milk an improbably good trade route five or six times, especially once you knew what you were doing. I'm thinking in particular of the one where you buy sugar in the lower left for 1 and sell it right adjacent for 5.
I also still can't figure out what the numbers along the routes mean. I thought they meant hardtack consumed for the whole journey (though that would be annoying to convert once you stop using hardtack), but they didn't, so in early game, I just kind of selected a journey and hoped for the best that my hardtack wouldn't be used up (before I realized that the number, whatever it is, is always higher than the amount of hardtack you consume).
@carraka Thanks, really glad you liked it! The numbers are days en route, and initially we did that you consume 1 Hardtack a day, but that consumption rate turned out to be really good overall balance knob, so for better balance we made is so you consume 1 Hardtack per 1.5 days on average - and sadly it's not easy to count them now, but on the other hand it scares you somewhat and you need to overstock usually ;)
all five stars!!!!love this game so much, this is my top 3 game in this game jam I spent about one hour in this game, quite interesting,,this buy and sell system are very good design, and those random events are add some details so much, wish for more content
Great game, well executed, pretty fun. Really liked all the companions and upgrades, felt it really put the game over the top. It was clean and complete. Only critique I could have is maybe having the red/green for buy/sell more distinct, and the icons a little bigger so it's easy to see what/who is selling and buying. But I got a pretty lucky run my first time, and got Sugar to buy 1, sell 5, right next to each other with only 1 time in between, and managed to turn a bleak looking run into a win! Very well done!
This was surprisingly addictive. I'd say that it wasn't very obvious what planks the carpenter was referring to (and to be honest, it seems quite expensive compared to buying the healing spots on the map if there are any!). It also wasn't super obvious to me that the crew could get by on rum only until the note in a bottle kind of implied it :). I had fun; thanks
Really loved the artwork and world!
