Fun little game about harvesting the sun :) Perhaps in the future the bomb drones also drop some solar energy to promote more movement.

lemons 2023-01-09 21:13

Nice - I like the art and it controls really well.

glimmer 2023-01-09 21:19

nice mini game. Shooting feels powerfull and the shadow effect is very nice.

Fun little game. For a shooter feels kind of relaxed because of the music but also because you're tryng to move as little as possible.

My favourite part is hands down the visuals for the shot. Feels super powerful! :)

zahkros 2023-01-10 11:13

Fun game indeed! The music was pleasant, the art was consistent, nice work overall! If I want to replay it, it's capped after 8.13 sec.:) Thanks for the game, enjoyed it!

bardia-crunch 2023-01-10 20:25

@zahkros Thanks for the feedback

Is there a reason for why 8.13s specifically? are there bugs that I need to know about?

bardia-crunch 2023-01-10 20:34

@yaen Thank you I'm happy that the funny Glitcheon man actually played my game I'm honored

bardia-crunch 2023-01-10 20:37

@fluri Actually that was an idea that got scrapped because I didn't have enough time AND I suck at coding lol

bardia-crunch 2023-01-10 20:39

@lemons Programmer art... the good ol reliable :)

bardia-crunch 2023-01-10 20:43

@glimmer funny thing is that Laser took me almost half of a day but the shadows took me only 5 seconds

kapuetze 2023-01-11 11:11

It's a lot of fun balancing shooting/flying and I like the touch of adding gravity that can be utilised to use less fuel.

maxlin 2023-01-11 11:19

I like the pixel art, especially the shooting effect. The music also fit your game well. Very fun to play!

floata3 2023-01-11 19:09

old school game feel , i like this one allot

eeperdeheap 2023-01-11 19:16

Nice effects, but maybe I didn't get the strategy right. It feels as if you simply die of moving, so I ended up staying as still as possible and only shooting when I had to. I hasn't actually harvesting a lot, so that might be a missed opportunity. But I have to say it looks great and has a nice soothing (but very simple) tune.

boxedmeatrevolution 2023-01-11 19:53

Great atmosphere, and shooting the big laser felt good. Learning to move as little as possible and lining up shots to hit multiple enemies was fun. I lasted 86 seconds on my last run and noticed that the Bomb Drones keep spawning after death which is kinda funny  solarship.PNG

stevepixelface 2023-01-11 22:03

Too me a second to get what I was supposed to do but this was super fun. Got me playing multiple times. Loved the pixel art, moving and shooting felt very satisfying. Brilliant stuff!

amarokczukay 2023-01-12 03:18

simple but really effective and addicting game! when i discovered i could bump and align different enemies to shot them once, it took a new turn.

controls and animations are fluid and original, art is great, sound is a nice addition and the light effect is super sexy indeed! great work!

@eeperdeheap It's not that on theme but basically you collect solar flares that the sun emits to fuel your ship and shooting and moving consumes fuel.

Staying in place is a nice strategy but optimizing your movement to collect solar flares and amount of shots to clear the screen is the key to reach Extreme(after Hard) difficulty

zubspace 2023-01-13 21:57

Nice game, love the pixel art, the shadow effect and the cool music. The concept is nice. It feels a bit random, because you're just hoping for the sun to give you enough energy at a point, where you're able to pick it up. But other than that I had a great time. At least I passed 1 minute

Great take on the theme, love the graphical style, e.g. the sun shadows.

noskire 2023-01-14 14:29

Nice game, simple and fun. I likek the drift you can do with the ship. xD

zyak 2023-01-14 16:26

It's quite simple(deceptively so!), but really fun! Some thoughts: - I loved the gameplay loop in general! Having to balance fuel conservation(since you don't know how much fuel is coming in the near future), accuracy(since shooting is quite expensive and you can kill a lot of drones with one shot) and speed(since you are always subject to inertia and star gravitation, which can cause you to shift away from or into the optimal shooting position) is a _really_ entertaining challenge! - That said, the flares can feel a bit random at times. Throughout my rounds, I could go 15 seconds without a single flare, or I could be swimming in energy within the first 15 seconds of the round. - It only started occurring after I managed to survive 90 seconds in a round, but sometimes, _two_ flares would come up at once, even on easy! I'm not sure if it's a bug or some sort of reward, since it hasn't happened once until that point. - The pixel art, while rather simplistic, is quite well done! The screen has a lot going on, yet everything remains concise. You always see what's going on around you. I especially like the sun "spots" that appeared just before a flare popped up. It can be quite rewarding to keep an eye on them! - While there's just a background track and the shooting sound effect, both fit the game marvellously! The track fits the mood of a hopeless defence quite well, and the shooting effect feels powerful. Neither of them get in the way of another, too!

All in all, the game nails the arcade style perfectly. If it had a coin slot, I'd be missing quite a few quarters!

I really like the art style :) The controls are hard but one can get used to them after a few tries. The energy beam is awesome :D

hexyvexy 2023-01-14 21:56

A neat idea, havesting the solar flares. The small playfield and lack of fullscreen support is disappointing for an arcade-style game. I'm not sure if the antialiasting artifacts on the pixel art are intentional but I'm not sure it works here. The basic feel and concept are nice though!

bardia-crunch 2023-01-15 15:31

@hexyvexy yeah the antialiasing is quite janky sometimes... and fullscreen really messed with it too , so I didn't make fullscreen support since I'm not skilled enough ( sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) the intentional look can be seen in (browser with normal zoom) and (windows)

And the small playfield was intentional ( to make the game as stressful as possible hehe) yep that's all.

Thank you so much for the feedback I appreciate it :)

bardia-crunch 2023-01-15 15:36

@zyak Stop it. You're making me cry! This is my second ever game and my second ever jam. And you're being too nice to me!

Thank you so much for the feedback ( your highscore is awefully close to mine XD )

runicpixels 2023-01-16 23:08

Love the large laser. :)

luhuchiha 2023-01-19 21:32

Fun game! The laser effect was great!

stormcat 2023-01-22 02:24

Cool game! I really liked all of the art and shaders, the laser, drones and especially the sun/solar flares all looked great. The gameplay was pretty fun and easy to understand, although the solar flares were sometimes infrequent enough that I had to just slowly sit and lose power.

Overall a really cool game! Especially for you second jam, you should be very happy with it.

budaniel 2023-01-24 16:35

I love the Asteroids vibe, and the oversized laser, like other have said, was awesome.
