I dig this! Even though most of the fighting is pulling enemies behind you while you fire at them, it's atmospheric. I love the music you made for it as well, it fits.

There is something simple and fun about focusing entirely on movement rather than aiming and shooting stuff, and it was cool that I was able to play this with only my keyboard!

connorwmackay 2023-01-09 13:48

Fun game, the music and sounds are great. The graphics fit well too, good job!

flaming-aardvark 2023-01-10 16:27

Absolutely love the music, it fits the game perfectly. The graphics are nice too, my only critique is the combat is fairly un-interactive. still fun to play though, good job.

I must say that for me a manual targeting would have been better, but congrats for the entry !

- Music +++ - Graphics ++ - Combat - - Atmosphere +++

Good game !

Fun little game, you nailed the atmosphere. I love the combat mechanic, I was plesantly supprised when I descovered I did not need to shoot at the enemies, and it was an automatic feature. Nice entry!

Good job on releasing a game during that game jam as a solo dev !

I like the chill beats. It might have been a design choice, but progress was a bit slow. One hit death was pretty brutal.

The combat wasn't particularly engaging, but traversing the labyrinth was fun on its own. A word for advice for this type of games: add shortcuts such as one-way doors or teleports, especially if the character's movement speed is low, because backtracking through the same corridors can be tedious. I love the music; it's very simple, but it fits the game.

The combination and colors really set a cool mood. The Vampire Savior style combat was surprisingly fun. The game felt a bit long, especially with how punishing and fast dying to wizards was. I'd also liked some landmarks, since now getting lost was almost an issue. I get it's a dungeon/labyrinth, but still. I managed to beat it tho, even though I almost missed 2 of the monsters, who were very close to the top of the screen.

Really amazing music, it fit game perfectly and created a really sombre mood. Nice variety in enemy designs and good player controls as well, I liked the auto-fire feature although for me it made combat a bit too easy. There was perhaps a bit too much back and forth over the map to get all of the souls.

zsharpfire 2023-01-10 21:14

Graphics and sound were great even though the combat could have been better if the player had more actions to do instead of just moving. Overall a nice game

xfinktion 2023-01-12 01:28

Enemies could have used some variety in terms of their behavior to make combat more engaging; maybe some enemies that shot back at you would be cool. The maze was pretty fun. Broke out a notepad to find the 2 enemies I had missed. Music was very well suited to the darker aesthetic of the graphics. Loved the design of the main character too! Nice work :)

camden-obertop 2023-01-12 02:13

Neat little game! I like the atmosphere and how the player fires at the enemies, I really like auto target mechanics like in something like Vampire Survivors and I liked it here too!

sipfindel 2023-01-12 15:00

I like it as a concept. I like the auto attack, but didn't enjoy the dungeon. If it was a little easier to navigate so i didn't have to backtrack so much, i'd like it a bit more. The music nicely worked towards the atmosphere but the audible loop point got annoying quickly. All in all it feels like a potential start of something interesting

blue-pin-studio 2023-01-13 05:41

Good entry, especially for compo! It was very brutal for me because everytime i barely touched an enemy i restarted. I managed to play a few times before i've decided ive seen it all. The witch enemy is super fast!

thomasward 2023-01-13 21:13

I got 33 souls and escaped. The game was easy, but I died once, killed by the witch lady. Had to figure out a way to deal with her, but it turned out to be pretty easy. :)

A very good entry for a compo game. The game has the right vibe, gameplay is simple yet fun and the music is just awesome (really, I like the main and only theme so much)! If I were to change something, I would probably try to add a better boss (this big, white ball is really simple to beat) and checkpoints along the way. But hey, it's a compo entry, there probably wouldn't be time to do that anyway.

oiluuuj 2023-01-14 19:25

I agree with some who talked about **backtracking** and **variety of enemies**. The game could also have indicators or a map to **guide** the player towards the **nearest enemy**.

tricky-fat-cat 2023-01-16 18:21

The game feel repetitive and become boring too fast. Enemies are easy and the difference between them is only in visuals, amount of health and movement speed. It would be great to add something more than that, e.g. some ranged attack. In addition, level feels too big and empty. But anyway, congratulations with a finished game on a game jam!

drsomma 2023-01-24 21:50

Nice game. I like the music and graphics as well. The mage enemy is really greedy - was so stupid and went to close.

raggedyjam 2023-01-25 14:08

Great music and feel the game had awesome mood behind it. The textures for the background were also nice and I did have some curiosity driving me to find out what's next so that was nice. I didn't really enjoy the auto shooting of enemies just by being close to them as the only thing I was then doing is mainly walking. I also thought that there was too much backtracking through empty rooms. Because of the great audio and simple but nice visuals I'm sure it would of been very fun with just a little more for me to do when playing it. Also the wizard dude was kinda mean the first time I saw them.
